An Opulent New York Residence with a Rich History
OHEKA CASTLE Hotel & Estate is a stunning estate fit for wedding events located in Huntington, NY. It holds a spectacular appeal to both the greater New York and Long Island areas. The majestic architecture that can be observed throughout the premises is reminiscent of elegant, French chateaux. These elements combined with dedicated services that go above and beyond, as well as a vibrant heritage, OHEKA CASTLE is poised to please most any guest.
This venue’s opulent history began in 1919. The 443-acre property was purchased by Otto Hermann Kahn, a prominent financier and philanthropist. Still withstanding, this estate maintains a claim to being the second-largest private residence ever built in the United States. During the Roaring Twenties, the home was used for grand parties and summer getaways. Following Kahn’s death in 1934, the castle was host to various entities before Gary Melius, a developer, bought and began restoring the property in 1984. With a panel of experts in his consort, Gary was able to refurbish the estate to its former glory, keeping authentic elements wherever possible. Nowadays, this breathtaking property is on the National Register of Historic Places and proudly holds a membership with national and international programs that recognize historic hotels.
Couples and their guests can enjoy the lap of luxury at this castle. Weddings and events held at this property will be able to enjoy an event like no other. There are various different spaces to choose from for wedding occasions. Couples may take a tour of the estate to see all of the possibilities in person. The indoor areas include the Grand Ballroom, the Formal Dining Room, and the Terrace Room. Outdoors, there are four spaces, including lawns and gardens.
Here, nothing is overlooked. Couples can feel confident that they will be taken care of during the entirety of their event. The castle’s staff offers catering menus that boast delicious entrees and delectable desserts. A selection of beverages is also presented, topped-off with exceptional service. Photos may be taken in a range of locations around the property. Should couples be interested in learning about available packages, they are encouraged to reach out to OHEKA CASTLE’s event team with inquiries.

From start to finish it was a beautiful
flawless execution. The first class white glove service to the divine food to the magnificent wedding cake in a spectacular jaw dropping room display of desserts. Impressive. Proper. Surreal. Our family and guests walking on cloud 9 since.
my wedding in 2022 was perfect ..the staff were all amazing. i love this place so much and it was really beautiful . Dan made my wedding omg it was outstanding . the food is delicious!!!!
You can't find a more beautiful wedding location than Oheka Castle. It made all of my childhood dreams getting married in a castle as a princess come true. Although I loved my experience and would never do it differently, a few things I do want to note for other brides.
One) It is slightly difficult getting a hold of people there who you will be working with. Every time my mother or I called we'd get one answer, then talk to someone else and get a different one. If you are a Type-A bride, this could prove to be frustrating for you.
Two) You are guaranteed a "lady in waiting", but she really doesn't do that. What she does is help you run through the day itself but she's not waiting on you as much as directing you. Mine was slightly bossy and it did impact my day a bit. Additionally, she is NOT there to steam any dresses (as we all assumed) so you will need to do this yourselves. We actually didn't have time to steam all of the bridesmaids dresses before my day because of this.
Three) If you want to get ready in the gorgeous bridal suite for your wedding, you will either need to get married on an off day or Friday (and rent the room for the night before as well) or start getting ready at 1 pm. I got married on a Friday and had the most dreamy experience getting ready in that suite with all of my girls, but we had the room the next day until 12 (possibly 11?) and all I could think of was that the next day bride wasn't going to have the same experience.
Overall, wonderful venue but just some things to keep in mind!
Any questions?
If I could get married here over and over and over again, I would. Everything was perfect, down to the decor they set up for me. I would say that was probably what I was most nervous about. Making sure all my frames, decor, memory table accessories, etc were properly set up and it was PERFECT. The food was AMAZING. The Staff was incredible. My bridal attendant literally was a saint. 1000% worth the money!!! We had a 250 person wedding and I didn't need a party planner because Oheka was essentially our planner! The cake was incredible. Honestly, not a single complaint.
This review is about weddings at Oheka.
Let me start by saying that, the place is lovely and I did have a beautiful and dreamy wedding at Oheka. My review here is on the management side of things and not the castle and ambiance itself.
First off, the management staff are quite responsive for as long as they are selling. Once the contract is signed, the story changes. It is extremely hard to get a hold of them, they do not respond to calls easily. Rather frustrating!
They promise that they will do their best to make things as beautiful as possible for your wedding. Well, not so much of that is true and here is my story:
Due to multiple out of our control glitches we started the ceremony about half an hour later than planned. Our wedding was to end at 12:30 midnight. At about 12:15 I asked the wedding planner if we could extend the wedding for half an hour. She was not very happy with it (somewhat understandably)! She said if she allows us to extend we have to pay $2,470 for the extra half an hour (very different than what's said in the contract language). Worse that that was the way she treated us: she said that we have to give her a credit card right then and there. So here I am in my gown, instead of using the time efficiently, went upstairs to get my credit card, came back (lost about 10 minutes of the half an hour). Later I was thinking, they had at least 3 credit cards from us on their files so to this day I am not sure why she pushed me to do it right then and there. Perhaps she was hoping that I would say forget it, so that she could end the wedding sooner?! Not sure, but very unpleasant!
The next day I ran into the gentleman whom we had signed the contract with. In response to his question asking me how the wedding was, i explained the situation. He seemed surprised. He said he will talk to the planner. For a long while we were hoping to get some sort of a refund back for that harsh charge of $2,470/half an hour. But regardless of our multiple attempts in contacting them, no one really got back to us EVER! To date whenever I think of that half an hour extra charge, I get really upset. The way she treated us was not fair, not according to the contract language and inhumane to send the bride after a credit card in the last half an hour of her wedding!
Well the bottom line of the story and the reason that I am sharing this is to advise you to do all your negotiations before signing the contract with them! It is a beautiful place and lovely to have a wedding there. But not much flexibility or responsiveness (or kindness) after you are officially the client.
I am willing to share documents and more details of the this story and a few other circumstances that happened throughout the day to give you a better and a more accurate sense of the place and its management. I still have all the documents and email exchanges. I do not want any bride to experience what I did and certainly no bride deserves that kind of a behavior. If you are deciding on signing the contract, let me know and I will share with you of all the pros and cons of their system before you sign the contract. It is important to know how to negotiate with them so that you do not get stuck in a situation that I did. Best of luck!
Oheka made sure every detail was perfect.
Even though the cake is included when you book a wedding at Oheka Castle, I had to write a review just for chef Daniel Andreotti because he was that great. Based on inspiration photos I showed him and how I described the vibe of our wedding, he was able to nail exactly what I was looking for without steering us towards expensive upgrades. Every flavor we tasted was to die for and he even came up with a creative way to display our cake toppers. The cake turned out gorgeous and completely wowed our guests!
Yes, Oheka Castle is a dream come true. The venue is absolutely gorgeous and ultra exclusive. We had the entire castle to ourselves for the entire day and night, I really didn't want anything to do with a "wedding factory" sorta venue so this was perfect for me. Very pricey so don't get your hopes up unless you have a budget that is... well, nonexistent. I love the place so much that my husband had to promise to have our vows renewed there too. Very professional and all around exquisite!
they helped make my wedding perfect!
We had the most fairy tale of all days, with our wedding at Oheka. The food was amazing, the service was impeccable, and the day was perfect. It's a pricey venue, no doubt, but you get what you pay for--- AND THAT IS A DREAM COME TRUE!
Oheka is the best venue to have your wedding or any special event! From the beautiful gardens to the exquisite ballroom and amazing service and food, I could not have asked for a better place to have my wedding!
Oheka is the most beautiful location to have a wedding on Long Island. Everything is over the top and you truly feel special on your wedding day. The base package at Oheka is the same as other places with every possible add on. It was expensive but well worth every penny.
Getting married at Oheka Castle is like having a fairytale wedding! Everybody is so nice and has their roles down to the "t."
From the very beginning til the very day, Oheka castle was amazing! The staff was great and made every single thing a real easy process. We can't wait to return to Oheka for our one year anniversary.
Best Wedding was the comment I got from a lot of my guest and it was because Oheka Castle knows how to do a wedding. The grounds of the castle are beautiful and I think most of our guests were blown away by just driving through the gates. The food was great, the bridal attendants made sure that we had food from the cocktail hour and brought dessert up to our suite. Kelly and John were great to work with and made sure all our requests were fulfilled. I wish I could experience it all over again - it was absolutely amazing.
I cannot say enough about Oheka Castle. From the food to the service, everything was exquisite. It was worth every dollar I spent. I would recommend this venue to any bride.
There are no words to describe how amazing the staff at Oheka is. They made the whole planning process a truly wonderful experience. Ask for Rick in planning your special day. He is the most attentive and amazing
PS - your cake will be done on premises and is so good and so different and beautiful
Although it poured,I still had a gorgeous wedding because the rooms are so beautiful. The staff on the day of the wedding were fantastic. The food was great and my cake was amazing.;The bridal suite was not ready when I needed it, although they said they would accomodate us in another room, we wound up with 7 women in a tiny room getting our hair done until the other bride vacated.
It took place in a castle and the place was absolutley beautiful fit for a princess...lots of pictures to take.;Don't let them make your wedding cake a station at the dessert hour instead of personally bringing a piece to the plates at the table because everyone forgets to graba piece on their own and no one ate my cake which cost over $1000 and was delicious - not even me! Also, I felt like they rushed me along. And every little thing you get charged for. I had a bill for thousands of dollars in thw next day.
breathtaking scenery creates a feeling of being in a fairytale wedding.;staff is both poorly trained and sales managers promise the world and woefully underdeliver.
The ambiance was breath-taking. Words cannot describe how beautiful the Oheka Castle is. The service was amazing! My guests STILL have not stopped talking about how great the food and service was. They wait on you and your guest hand and foot.
The Castle is breathtaking. Decor was fabulous. The garden is georgeous. The food was excellent. They host only one wedding at a time.
the castle is magnificent, the garden is breathtaking for outdoor ceremony.
it was a true fairy tale setting; we had the option for an outdoor ceremony but they could also accomodate an indoor ceremony if weather didn't permit outdoors.;the fee doesn't include anything extra. you have to dress the entire mansion yourself (florist-wise); they said they would 'touch up' some areas that needed tending to (since it's such an old space, some paint was chipped, wall fabric dirty, etc.)
We loved everything about our venue-location, service, food. Our wedding was better than we expected thanks to the people of Oheka.;Prior to the wedding, staff at Oheka wasn't very prompt at getting back to us nor addressing our concerns so we hired a separate wedding planner. However, seeing how it all came together the day of I realized we had nothing to worry about. They are pros at what they do.
I loved the service and the food, the service was totally unbelievable, they literally catered to everyone of my guest and my husband and myself
