Kim & Olive Events gave me my dream wedding!! My family is in the restaurant industry, and when we found out our restaurant couldn't handle an event as large as ours 3 months before the wedding, we were in a bit of a panic. We had a meeting with a well-known caterer in Kansas City & Olive. Kim and her team listened so well to what we wanted - something unique, but delicious. They presented several options to us and made last-minute changes that we requested. The tasting was one of our favorite parts about wedding planning at their beautiful space. Service was very important to us, and their team blew it out of the water. They had more than enough staff to host our 200+ person event and weeks later people are still raving about the food (filet with lobster, shrimp, béarnaise sauce, mashed potatoes and asparagus YUM!!!). They made one of the biggest planning parts of our wedding a complete breeze. I would get married again and again just to experience their service and incredibly crafted food. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this boutique and luxurious team!!

Our venue had a list of pre-approved caterers, and of all those listed, we were by far most drawn to Olive. Their menus were inventive, fun, and just overall more interesting than your standard wedding catering fare. After a tasting, where the flavors fully delivered on the impressive menu ideas listed online, we were sold. They worked with us to design a plated dinner that showcased us as a couple and hit our likes and avoided our dislikes. The food was absolutely excellent and I'm still beyond impressed they managed to perfectly cook scallops for our nearly 40 guests who ordered them! It was also very important to me that our vegan/vegetarian guests got something actually good and interesting to eat, and Olive came up with a dish that made all those guests excited and taken care of. The team, led by Kim, was great and always extremely communicative and clear. They were great about adjustments we requested right down to days before our wedding. The serving team onsite was extremely professional and on top of things. Overall, I have only good things to say and Olive would definitely be my first choice for catering for any future events.

Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! Kimberly was great to work with and chef really outdid themselves making our special passed appetizer - grits! Brought some southern flair to our Midwest wedding! We could recommend them enough - outstanding food and service!

My husband and I did a lot of research on food caterers for our wedding and we are so lucky we found Olive Events! We started the consultation process off by having a food tasting- which was AMAZING. We were able to talk through which foods we wanted to offer to be our Hors D'oeuvres for cocktail hour and then we were able to make a personalized dinner menu and dessert menu to fit our personalities with a twist of the Spring Season. Kim and her team made sure our stations were exactly as planned and all of our guests can not stop talking about how great the food was! Olive Events did an amazing job providing catering that was accommodating to vegan and allergens (dairy and gluten), all while still creating a phenomenal 3 course meal. My guests are still talking about how incredible the food was and how those guests with dietary restrictions could finally go to a wedding and enjoy EVERY MEAL (this never happens). As person who has a dairy allergy and always has to eat before an event, making an allergen friendly meal that EVERYONE can enjoy was extremely important to me on my wedding day. Olive Events truly exceeded my expectations!

From the very start of our wedding planning Olive and more specifically Kim, one of the coordinators was not only helpful but had gone above and beyond to help us. We were one of the covid weddings that had to rescheduled. Through that process her high level of communication and effort made our new wedding date that much better. They have endless options of delicious food, professional staff, and impeccable presentation. They provided the most delicious BBQ buffet for our wedding rehearsal dinner and an amazing dual plate seated service for our wedding with great passed apps. Kim’s knowledge of event planning was an asset to the success of our event. We are forever thankful and will continue to use them for any event we have!

Kim and her team at Olive Events were absolutely amazing! Planning a wedding during Covid caused many changes, but the Olive team was able to adapt and continue to provide us with a perfect meal. The food was not only delicious, but it was also the perfect presentation. Our guests loved everything from the appetizers to the late night snacks. On top of that, Kim and her team were constantly checking on us to see if there was anything else they could get for us. We could not have asked for a better caterer!

We came in from out of state for our big day. Olive Events was tasked with the rehearsal dinner and the wedding. Wow! Amazing food! Marisa was curious as to what we wanted while also inquiring about any special needs of our guests ( thank you! ) then offered suggestions to fine tune the menu. Andres and the team took our menu and went above and beyond our expectations! On the day of the wedding I was quite busy with meeting with our guests and getting photos. I was so grateful that Stacey searched me out to make sure I had a chance to sample the delicious appetizers! Thank you Olive Events for the wonderfully delicious food!

Olive catered my wedding in November of 2019 and we experienced a 5 star service! The food was delicious and the buffet was fast for 216 people. We still have guests raving about their meal! Olive Events did a wonderful catering job for our son’s wedding . The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. We had a few unplanned items occur that day – such as a pop up hail storm and discovering we didn’t print enough menu cards for the tables - but Kim and her staff took all those in stride and the event turned out perfectly. We did the BBQ menu for our wedding with Olive, and it was amazing! We’ve had multiple people since tell us how good our apps were and my husband basically ate a whole tray of shrimp tostadas himself! Loved the food.

If you want THE BEST catering in Kansas City - look no further, it's Olive Events. Olive was recommended to us by our wedding planner and we didn't ask for another recommendation because our tasting meeting absolutely blew my husband and I away (I mean, I would drive all the miles in the world to have their truffle mac n cheese). From the first meeting, the Olive team asked us what our favorite restaurant and menu item was in Kansas City and they dreamt up the most amazing buffet and hors d'oeuvres menu for us that was enjoyed by all. And not only enjoyed by all, my husband and I heard from probably 50 guests it was the best wedding meal they've ever had - one quote was, "you crushed the food game." From mouthwatering sriracha chicken to pesto salmon to their incredible steak skewers that's one of their staples, the mains were top notch. But not only that, we had such great side items that a few of our vegetarians friends commented it was the best dinner they had experienced at a wedding. And, Kelsey, our catering coordinator, was a dream to work with! When we tasted our wedding day menu two months out, Kelsey was attentive to our asks (asking about our VIPs, what my husband and I wanted to eat, etc) but she has the most bubbly personality that fit right into how we wanted our wedding to be. Overall, Olive is top notch and if they ever opened up a restaurant I would never leave - seriously, I would expect a booth to have my name on it because I would only go there. We ate our wedding leftovers for days after and even then it was SO good. Thank you, Olive, for making our wedding the #foodieexperience we wanted and for blowing everyone away with your culinary expertise.

As a wedding vendor myself, I have worked with nearly everyone in KC. I knew 5 years ago that I wanted to work with the Olive team for my wedding (before I was even engaged). Their team is professional, fun and always on top of things. The owner, Marisa, is so easy to get along with and she is a very talented chef. The food is out of this world. The Event Planner, Kelsey organized everything for my big day. She wears a lot of hats and works extremely hard for her clients. She executed everything perfectly! My guests have been talking about the food for days after my wedding. If you don't have the truffle mac&cheese on your menu, add it now! Also, the shrimp and grits were to die for. Everything they serve is top notch. I highly recommend Olive to all of my friends and clients and I will forever remember how amazing they were for my big day. I want to do it all over again! Olive Events Catering was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. The food and service was outstanding. Truffle mac is out of this world! Olive Events did a fantastic job for our wedding! From the very first contact to the final clean-up at the wedding, Kelsey and her staff were professional, pleasant and experienced! Actually, they were perfect!! Kelsey was great during the planning. She was energetic, fun and enthusiastic to work with. Her experience and creativity were evident in the suggestions and directions she gave us. I feel she got to know Jeanie and I and then custom tailored our menu to fit our personalities, style and participants. Her suggestions for dinner stations and hors d'oeuvres were right on point. The quality of the food was incredible! We had many, many unsolicited compliments from our guests on the deliciousness of the food! From the salad shakers that kept the kids going back for more salad if you can imagine, to the variety on the stations, the whole set-up was perfect. When Kelsey learned we had some younger kids attending, she recommended ‘happy meal’ type boxes for them that were a big hit and much appreciated by the parents. Kelsey brought a big team with her and the service was great! They were professional, experienced, pleasant and always available when needed. They handled the food set-up, serving, cake service and table clean-up professionally, perfectly and unobtrusively. They did an excellent job! I mentioned compliments from our guests earlier. This was my favorite. “ Those were the best crab cakes I have ever tasted . . . and, I’m from Maryland!” I enthusiastically recommend Kelsey and Olive Events for your wedding and other special events!! They helped make our reception very special!

Olive was great! I worried because our venue, the Midland Theater, does not have a full kitchen on site. Both the food and the service were wonderful, and Kelsey was a pleasure to work with.

Olive was beyond what we could have ever imagined for our wedding! From the first tasting, they were so professional and accommodating. Their communication was excellent and talked through every detail so you didn't have to think about it on the wedding day. And then the food!! You can give them any ingredient and they will come up with a masterpiece of an appetizer or dish. They are very creative and adaptable to what you like. The food was amazing!! Our guests even commented on the salads--but the truffle mac and cheese was the hit of the night!

Olive Events far surpassed our expectations for our wedding! We had no idea what we wanted, or how we wanted to do it! Olive Events was very responsive during the initial planning, and recommended an amazing menu based on our likes and dislikes! We never even tasted the food before the wedding, we just had confidence in this amazing group of people! They did not disappoint! Probably some of the most amazing food I had ever had! Additionally, I had no idea what was going to happen with anything that was left over, I did not realize that they packaged up the few leftovers that we had! This is probably a standard service, but I felt like it was above and beyond! Our family and friends will be raving about this food for a long, long time! There are not strong enough positive adjectives that I can use to recommend these folks. Effing wonderful. Every single thing they prepared was amazing. We had three appetizers, a salad, three mains and a couple sides. Now, after the tasting we figured the truffle mac & cheese was going to be the favorite. Nope. There was no clear favorite. Everyone at our wedding, ALL 150 PEOPLE, commented on how much they loved the food but it was a crap shoot on which thing they preferred. Some loved the meatballs, others the fried chicken with mashed potato bites, or the skewered beef tenderloin, or the chicken spiedini........ Sure, Kelsey was easy to work with and she communicated with the venue to get all the little details worked out so we didn't have to mess with it. Sure, they had a ton of great ideas for foods and were really flexible. And yes, the servers were all SUPER polite and professional (we got positive comments on that too)...but what really matters is how the food tastes. Wow. So good. It's been two weeks since our wedding and I'm still thinking about that damned mac & cheese. I miss it.

My office had a client event catered by Olive Events. Kelsey was fantastic! Incredibly easy to work with and very responsive. Our clients mentioned over and over the great food and presentation. Everything was top notch. Kelsey made my job as planner much easier as she took came in a took care of everything, had a beautiful display and delicious food.

I can’t even begin to tell you how many compliments we had on the food from Olive Events Catering! Seriously, 5 months later people are still talking about the amazing food we had. Olive Events was so sweet in accommodating my husband’s request of a Southern Menu. Shrimp and Grits, Fried Green Tomatoes, Brisket, and that Parmesan Mac and Cheese! My only wish is I could have all that food all over again 😊. I would highly recommend them for any event!

We recently used Olive Events and Catering for our Rehearsal Dinner and our wedding. We had a very large wedding in a unique space and Olive did a wonderful job. They were very easy to work with in both venues, they were able to make everything work seamlessly for large plated dinners and we never had any issues. Also Olive was great to work through the process with. We had a couple tasting where they aided us in our selection of entrées apps, etc... They were very knowledgeable in food, selection, presentation, etc... and they couldn't have been more enjoyable in working through the process. The food on both evenings tasted great and received rave reviews from our guests. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for an events catering company.

Olive Events is amazing! Their food is always delicious, their presentation is always new and exciting, and their team is incredibly courteous and professional. We were so excited to have Olive Events cater our wedding! The tasting was perfect and delicious! Our highlight were the passed appetizers, delicious! They worked with us to create a creative and yummy menu for our budget, however there were mistakes in the estimate that were not caught until a few weeks before the wedding; they had removed all the water glasses & plates & other items to hit the budget, so all those items had to be added back in, adding a lot of unexpected cost. Our hot food was not served hot which was disappointing. They only cut 1 of 3 flavors of cake which was disappointing and a waste of amazing cake! Our bride & groom 'to go' boxes were not what was requested, so we were very hungry that night after our big day! Menuing was amazing, food was great but hot food would have been much better hot, & there were avoidable things we felt should not have happened given how highly they were recommended.

Amazing food and professionalism. They provided appetizers, the main course, and a dessert bar for our wedding. Olive worked with us to give us exactly what we wanted. Our guests raved about their mac and cheese appetizer and brisket entree. Their staff was helpful and friendly at the event. They even packed us a to-go box of the main course for us to take home. Their communication was lacking up front, but we went off others reviews who said the food was wonderful and we were so glad we did.

Olive Events was amazing - Nicole and her team created a menu based on our favorite foods and Kelsey executed the day of details perfectly. The buffet presentation was beautiful and the food was incredible. We have heard nothing but rave reviews from our guests. People loved the food so much, they went back for seconds! The staff is fantastic - very professional and personable. Food was a huge factor for us and is always something guests remember, so hiring Olive was the best decision we could have made. Cannot say enough good things about Olive. All of our guests loved the food! They were talking about it long after the wedding. They pulled off just what we wanted and the presentation was incredible. Their staff is awesome, our guests loved them. They were even playing ping pong at one point with my bridesmaids. So fun! Luckily they packed up the leftovers for us, because as the bride and groom you just don't eat enough, and their food is too good to miss.

We loved working with Olive Events. They are great with communication and they provide amazing food and service. People still tell me how amazing the food was at our reception too. My only complaint ... and I'm not sure if it was Olive or our planner's fault but they waited to start serving food until we were finished taking photos after the ceremony... which we had specified we did not want to happen for our reception ... we wanted people to start enjoying the party and to be served before us and to NOT wait around for food... instead I enjoyed my mother coming up to ask when we would be done taking photographs because guests were anxious to leave/be served. Our photograph session was only 45 minutes total but then I ended up irritated because we appeared to be the selfish couple taking photos when we, the planner, and the catering folks had all agreed during the walkthrough when the food should be served. Everything else went according to plan though... including the cold plates of food set aside for us beforehand because everyone else would be served first... I am fine with cold food but if it must happen, at least make it happen for the entire reason it was planned for... so that our guests could be served first.

All I have to say is truffle mac and cheese! Olive Events prepared some of the most amazing food for my wedding day. Nichole was so awesome to work with and she designed a menu to fit our budget that truly helped to make our big day wonderful. Maple pecan crusted pork tenderloin with port reduction, truffle mac and cheese, roasted summer vegetables and a spinach, strawberry salad with goat cheese and champagne vinaigrette were the talk of the town. I don't know how many people came up to me and said that this food was the best food they have ever had at a wedding. Besides having amazing food, the Olive staff were so friendly to work with and provided the best service I could ask for. If you want a wedding where people will remember the food and praise you for their invite, then hire Olive, because they won't disappoint.

I have now used Olive three times--for the engagement party, for a corporate luncheon, and for our daughter and son-in-law's wedding reception. My daughter asked for the food to be served family style at her reception and Olive Events did a fantastic job with the food and the presentation and the service. They are professionals and experts at catering. They worked with our budget to present a lovely cocktail reception with appetizers and a beautiful dinner of beef tenderloin, honey bourbon chicken (oh my!!!), mashed potatoes and spring grilled vegetables. Huge servings--no skimping--and the presentation was beautiful. I had so many guests tell me the food was wonderful. Not your typical banquet dinner. Delicious food, prepared exceptionally. Asparagus still crisp and salmon succulent and flavorful, were just two of the most commented-on offerings at our street wedding buffet. Our hors'd'ouevres were passed efficiently, bar and wait service were impeccable as advertised. We couldn't have been happier with our choice of Olive Events. Highly talented and professional.

Olive is phenomenal - easy to work with, professional, organized, knowledgeable, and most importantly, they make insanely good food. Yum! That's the best way to describe the catering provided Olive Events. We used them for our plated dinner at The Brass on Baltimore and the food was absolutely amazing - from the passed hors d'oeuvres (truffle mac and cheese & crab cakes) to the main dish (parmesan crusted chicken, steak medallions, sour cream and chive mashed potatoes, and crisp asparagus). I highly recommend Olive Events for your wedding or big event.

Everything was very easy and so delicious. Several of our guests commented that they'd never had better food at a wedding. They even made sure me and my husband got to try all the passed appetizers and brought us a little plate.

The food at our wedding was a top priority for us, so we spent a lot of time deciding on a caterer for our wedding on October 8, 2016. We met with Olive Events and did a tasting; we were really happy with it, and discussed both at the meeting and over e-mail the modifications we wanted to make to our proposed menu. One piece of feedback that we discussed both at the tasting and over e-mail was that we wanted our beef cooked to medium (it was medium rare at the tasting, which we generally like, but worried about the guests at our wedding). We also confirmed this several days prior to the wedding over e-mail and it was written in our final contract. We had Olive pass hors d’oeuvres at the cocktail hour. Everything was delicious! Our guests loved the crab cakes, tomato soup/grilled cheese shooters, pot stickers, and bacon jam crostinis. We had them pre-plate our salads to save time — also fresh and delicious with beautiful presentation. The groom and I planned to share a fish and beef dish. The fish was so good! We cut into the beef — and it was RARE. I was very surprised, but assumed it was just our plate. I couldn’t stomach it, but didn’t really care as all the adrenaline of the wedding was preventing much of an appetite anyway. I had the groom check on our families’ tables to check on their beef — … all rare. Most of our family couldn’t even eat it. I checked with close friends and family after the wedding; many of our guests, including several pregnant friends, didn’t feel comfortable eating their rare beef. In addition to several not eating their beef, some even sent their food back to be cooked further — how mortifying. This was so frustrating to us, as we had discussed with Olive multiple times that we wanted our beef prepared to medium, and this was extremely important given over 60% of guests had ordered beef (as opposed to fish or vegetarian). After the wedding, when I discussed with Marissa over the phone, she did take ownership, apologized and offered a monetary amount to try and “make things right.” I accepted, until I realized it was only 10% of what we paid for beef dishes. When we rediscussed, she became defensive and blamed our venue’s kitchen. They had catered several times at this venue, and if they anticipated issues, I truly wish they had discussed with us ahead of time. While some aspects of the catering went really well, I wouldn’t use Olive Events again if I could go back in time. The fact that entree the majority of guests ordered weren’t prepared as discussed was really disappointing to us and I don’t feel we were adequately justified.

There are so many amazing things I want to say about Olive Events… we changed our menu MANY times. We added passed appetizers, as well as table service for water, tea and wine, along with having 3 meal stations, a dessert table, and a popsicle stand. Not only was everything absolutely delicious, the presentation was breathtaking, they made it all work in a tight space, and their service was flawless. I will use them for any catered event I have, period. Thank you for making my wedding flawless and pleasing all 250 of our guests. Everyone had nothing but amazing things to say about our caterer. Food is really important to my husband and I, so we knew that the food catered for our wedding had to be outstanding. With Olive Events, we got everything and more! From the very first tasting of the truffle mac and cheese, we knew they had to cater our wedding. Everything they served was delicious and they are very accommodating if you need to change anything. They were helpful with identifying gluten-free dishes for our guests as well. They also display the food beautifully, which is not something you'd think about, but once you see their set up compared to other caterers, it's no competition. We have heard nothing but good things from our guests about the food! We also had plenty of food for all our guests, as they went through the buffet. The passed hors d'oeuvres were outstanding as well. If you want a memorable dinner at your wedding, Olive Events is the way to go.
