In a few words: not good. They will nickel and dime you for any extra charge you can image and many you can’t imagine. Rooms are going for a significantly lower rate on third party sites like hotels.com than the rate the hotel offered my group.

Dear Chris, I am truly sorry that your experience with us has not met your expectations. ...
I know that we have extended your group rates for all of our room types to include Premier and Club level rooms to show you that we appreciate your business. I would be happy to assist with any of your concerns about additional charges. I can be reached at Rick.Butts@omnihotels.com.
Sincerely,
Rick

My husband and I researched every wedding venue that was able to accommodate 130+ guests in Richmond. We worked with Adrienne and midway through our planning she left her position and we were introduced to MaryBeth (they are able to handle transitions/changes is extremely important when planning far in advance!). Their priority is hospitality- it's ingrained in their culture, because of this they are gracious to all guests because it's what they do!!
criteria:
1. price, we think the Omni Richmond is an EXCELLENT value. We had a budget of 30-35k for EVERYTHING not just catering/venue. So we had:
- knowledgeable staff and managers
- elegant cocktail space
- a luxurious ballroom
- elegant spacious bathrooms(we went to some places where this was an after thought)
- 6 custom food stations (they were willing to work with us to go above and beyond, literally we sat with the chef- our guests raved about the prime rib carving station/lobster/shrimp/etc)
- 5 hours open bar
- HUGE dance floor this is key if you care about a dance party, 27x27, everyone could join in the fun
- av support/projection screen
and still have money left for all the other things like dress/invitations/cake/flowers etc etc was everything.
- use of presidential suite for bride getting ready then wedding night- it was so nice to have the space and looks so elegant in all our pictures
2. convenience for guests:
- luxury accommodations attached to venue, if they booked in wedding block at a great value, in the middle of the city, I can't tell you how many guests were thrilled they could pop up to their room switch out shoes/attend to kids etc
- convenience for my husband and I that we didn't have to worry about transport with the location everyone not staying at the hotel could uber or taxi for a nominal charge
3. Catering manager & Omni Banquet team
-this is the person who is going to make sure everything goes off without a hitch so you can enjoy your wedding! MaryBeth went above and beyond (ha. I have a mom who is type- A... maybe type A+ and MaryBeth was able to accommodate her and my dad and make sure that US the bride and groom (let's be honest we are type A, perfectionists as well) got what we wanted.. no small task.
- every wedding is customized but here's what we had going on that MaryBeth and team accomplished:
- hotel block/welcome bags
- flower deliveries/cake deliveries
- escort table/guest book set up/help with securing gifts/cards
- custom serpentine cake table with twinkle lights
- 17 custom centerpieces each different
- entrance video coordination with MaryBeth/DJ/AV team/projection screen
- 6 custom food stations
- coffee/cake
- photo booth
- sparkler exit
4. perks with Omni
Book at Omni & get a complimentary honeymoon stay at 1 of 14 resorts ** We went to The Omni Homestead the Sunday after our wedding & after the hectic weekend to have a getaway already built in and planned without having to write another check except for meals/activities was amazing
This review is so positive because MaryBeth spent so much time working through each detail and setting our expectations on how things would be handled if things didn't go as planned. Everything felt happy and secure day of because I knew that if something came up or didn't go as plan MaryBeth and team could handle it in stride and find a solution before guests realized. I highly recommend this venue.

Reserved a block of rooms at the Omni, and didn't have to put any money down as the bride. It was also a reasonable rate for the guests, and the hotel has lots of access to restaurants and a Starbucks in the lobby. Great place to stash out of towners so they can be self-sufficient!

This is the hotel we booked on our wedding night and it was amazing! We got the romance package and were able to check out at 3 and got champagne and strawberries, not to mention the breathtaking view from the top floor!

We stayed in a suite at the Omni on our wedding weekend. They were so gracious and helpful to bride/groom and guests. Marta is great! Thank you!

About 90% of my guests were coming from out of town and had never visited Richmond before, so I chose the Omni for its location. Everyone was impressed with the cobblestone streets and quaint area. However, booking rooms was a nightmare, I got a new Omni wedding coordinator half-way through my contract, and the service was sub par. I had several guests find significantly cheaper rooms than the rate they gave me. Thus, they didn't book with the block of rooms, so they weren't on the "list". The lady in charge of our room block never got back to my in a timely manner, and she never put together a full list of guests, so some people never got their welcome bags. We had to continuously ask for a hospitality suite to be added to the contract. We finally got the "ok" about 1 month before the wedding, which was absurd for the amount of guests we had staying at the hotel. It was a beautiful ballroom with the perfect location and I would pick it again, but they were not easy to work with.

My experience with The Omni was absolutely amazing. They provided everything we asked for and then some. Our guests raved about the food and how accomodating the staff was. Adrienne was our wedding coordinator and she did such an amazing job! The reception was completely stress free for me and my husband because Adrienne took care of everything.
I would definitely recommend The Omni as the perfect place to have your wedding.

The Omni was one of the hotels that we made a reservation block with for our guests. We had close to 200 guests at our wedding, with at least half of them being out of town guests. My initial experience with The Omni was great, they seemed to communicate very well, and provided me with all the info I needed. The week of the wedding I had been working with Marion Batts who handled our reservation block, as well as the out of town gift bags that I had made for our guests. On Thursday of the wedding weekend, I met with her in person down at The Omni and dropped off our welcome bags that contained not only wine, and other items but also our weekend itinerary with our transportation information for all our guests. We found out on the wedding night that NONE of our guests received their welcome bag after MONTHS of planning and coordination with this representative. Not only did all of our work on making these bags ourselves, with little personal touches; but NO ONE received the info for the shuttle bus that was arranged for our guests that were staying there. When I returned from our honeymoon (which was March 26th) I called and e-mailed to address the issue. It took WEEKS to get a response back or any attempt at some kind of resolution. On top of our bags not being delivered to our guests, they mysteriously disappeared off the premises! I was told management was going to refund the value of the gift bags. Today is April 18th, well over a MONTH after out wedding, and I have still yet to receive the refund. The principal of doing what was right in this situation, or providing a sincere apology was never made to us. I will NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone and don't recommend any bride to use them for out of town guests! We used the Holiday Inn Express downtown, and they were FLAWLESS in providing out guests our welcome bags for over 20 rooms, and handled our reservation block with excellent customer service!!!

The hotel is nice, and it's in a good location - but they are a disorganized mess inside the front doors. We had decided to use them for a hotel room block for our wedding due to the location and feel of the hotel, but we ended up being very happy we chose a second option as well. We were unable to get information from anyone we spoke with in the month leading up to the wedding regarding number of reservations, and it ended up that NO ONE had reserved a room under our block (although some of our wedding guests did stay there) because our room rate was HIGHER than the advertised going rate for a room! The Omni was asking our guests to pay more for a room if they booked through our block than if they just went online and booked a room themselves. When we inquired about that, we were told that was because they had lowered our rate since the time that we signed the contract, and they were "unable" to change the rate on our room block. Did I mention that there was only ONE employee who "had access" to our block information, so when we called and she wasn't available (which was 99% of the time) - were were completely out of luck?!? This employee also never returned a phone call, which meant we had to call over and over again to try to get a response. It was a miserable experience and we definitely do not recommend them. They are disorganized, lacking in customer service, and unreliable. Not even good enough to merit a single star.

Jennifer Payne was my coordinator at the Omni and she was amazing! She made sure everyone in the ceremony knew when and what to do the day of the ceremony. She also worked with the florist to make sure everything was set up the way I wanted it to be. She always returned my phone calls or emails and she let us drop everything off the week before!

The catering director, Charlene, was the nicest and most wonderful person we worked with out of all of our wedding vendors. She made sure everything went as perfectly as possible. You can tell that she has plenty of experience working with anxious and overwhelmed brides. She made the whole stressful process as easy as it could possibly have been! The entire staff was amazing that night. They set up the ballroom to look as beautiful as I imagined and made it so easy for my mother and bridesmaids to make sure all the last details were perfect. The food was amazing--we received so many comments about how good everything was! The bartenders and servers were all wonderful! The hotel itself is amazing and located close enough to Richmond nightlife that we were able to walk to our after-reception party! A big thanks to the Omni Richmond Hotel for playing such a big part in making our BiG DAY absolutely perfect!

We were married on April 28, 2012 in Richmond, Virginia, and were very fortunate to have our reception and post-wedding brunch at the Omni Richmond. In addition, 95 % of the guests for our 170-person reception were not from Richmond, and the Omni provided a large majority of the sleeping arrangements. We, our families, and our guests were overwhelmed at the tremendous service provided by the Omni Richmond. Our high marks for the Omni Richmond center around two concepts: execution excellence and hospitality.
The reception, the brunch, and all other activities were executed beautifully. All of the wishes that we expressed prior to the wedding when working with the Catering and Sales Manager, Cowles Wall, were executed beautifully, tastefully, and excellently. Every single detail that we discussed was managed even more skillfully than planned. Cowles did an excellent job listening to us and our wishes and translated our requests into practical execution. In addition, he facilitated the movement of our reception and our guests were very pleased with the timing, room setup, and overall facility. The banquet staff also did a fantastic job – our guests felt welcome, and the food was delicious. At our tasting, the chef created a custom hors d’oeuvre - a take on the bacon-wrapped quail with the addition of a honey-sriacha glaze. It was a hit all around and everyone enjoyed that among the other food.
Our guests were also made to feel welcome by all of the staff throughout the Omni Richmond. The staff made sure that everyone’s stay was enjoyable. We’ve lost count of the number of people who gave us feedback about the hotel staff, noting that their attention to individuals and general pleasant attitude exceeded that of elite five-star hotels. The staff of the Omni Richmond are a model for excellence in hotel hospitality.
Overall, we highly recommend the Omni Richmond to anyone for their wedding reception – the staff simply did an excellent job, and made our wedding day special by facilitating our guests’ happiness.
