The first time I went to Ouisie's Table, I had a fabulous meal with excellent service and the place had a charming feel that I fell in love with. I was thrilled that they took car...e of everything: venue, food, cake, even flowers. The woman that we met with gave us the information and after some deliberation and comparison, we committed. I then took my parents to Ouisie's for lunch to show them the venue. It was a disaster: Terrible service, salad greens that had gone bad. I should have taken this as a sign that Ouisie's Table is inconsistent, but I was so charmed by the place that I overlooked this experience. I went back a few times and had better experiences, which seemed to validate my hope for the best.
As the planning got underway, things got frustrating. I didn't feel they were very clear about what their "minimums" meant, and when it looked like we wouldn't meet the food/alcohol minimum, despite purchasing lots of other food/drinks, there would be a room surcharge. They had misinformed me of how many guests my room of choice held, which forced us to use a different room. The wedding planner changed - twice, and each time I had to re-negotiate a promised allowance. I was told there was a room to get ready and then informed, but then found out it was $1500 extra. Chairs were extra...etc. This information was NOT in their wedding package.
The worst was three days before the wedding, after I was within the "no cancellation" timeframe, the planner emailed to tell me that the orientation of my wedding had to change 180 degrees due to another party. They offered a very small recompense, but the whole thing was completely unprofessional.
The day of the wedding, everything went fine until the reception. The groom and I were supposed to have a plate of hors d'oeuvres saved for us. We were starving, it was nowhere to be found, and then we had to ask someone. The plate that showed up was NOT the hors d'oeuvres I had ordered. When I later asked guests, they said hors d'oeuvres were not offered, or whisked away, only some people got bread.
I signaled to the planner asking if they were ready for the champagne toast and she said yes - but they weren't. The glasses were not ready when they were supposed to be, they didn't arrive until the 3rd toast! The planner was supposed to be keeping the schedule, did she actually do any planning? And we specifically had instructed the planner to have waiters ASK guests whether they wanted champagne or apple cider, and they didn't. People ended up with cider who wanted champagne...etc. The waiters asked for my order and the groom's WHILE people were toasting us. It was incredibly rude and we told them to back off. And they were shuttling servers THROUGH our reception (right by the sweetheart table) to one of the other rooms for another party.
It was as if Ouisie's Table had NEVER hosted a reception of any kind because they were simply idiotic in their service.
And for the people who ordered the salmon, it was rare.
Overall, I didn't want to cancel and I made my peace with my choice of venue and I was able to enjoy the night, enjoy my food, and not let these annoyances get to me. But we spent a lot of money there and I can't say I would recommend it to anyone unless you go in with your eyes open and make things very very very clear and specific with specific consequences if Ouisie's Table screws it up. Because they probably will.
