We used Lucy's Porch and Bear Garden at Ouisie's Table for our wedding reception, and it was an excellent experience from booking to the wedding day.
This restaurant is an excellent option for those who don't want to pay the exorbitant venue fees for a traditional wedding venue. We had about 60 guests and it was the perfect amount of space for everyone and in total cost us about $8k in total. The staff is incredibly professional and really know what they're doing, we had no issues on the day and they were quick and receptive to any requests we had. The food is also extremely tasty! Everyone raved about the sea bass and the mac.
We had our wedding cake done through them, too, and it came out looking exactly like what I had asked for. They did amazing in creating my vision!
I highly recommend them for any bride looking for a beautiful wedding ceremony and/or reception venue for their special day!

Loved the Bears Garden and Lucy’s Porch for my wedding reception. It was just perfect. Fran was so helpful throughout the process with my many questions. I got so many compliments about how great the food and atmosphere was. They knocked it out of the park. I would highly recommend using Ouisie’s Table for your event.

We had our goodbye brunch here the morning after our wedding (10/9) and it was absolutely perfect! The staff was so kind and helpful to my mother who planned the whole thing with their assistance. It was a beautiful set up and the food was delicious! We loved having the private room with comfy couches to hang out after we finished eating. They booked us plenty of time to eat and say goodbye to our guests and even boxed up the extra leftover meals for us all to take home. Thanks y'all!

I wanted to have our reception here. When we met with them, it seemed great. Unfortunately, they ghosted on us after I inquired about a desert that I would be able to eat with my dietary restrictions. They did not reply to my call or email, even just to say that they couldn’t do it (which I would have understood). It really set me back a step in my planning.

We had a small intimate wedding on a Saturday night, with the ceremony in the little garden and dinner in Alsey's nest. We had multiple meetings with the manager and Shundra the flower person and were assured that everything would run smoothly . About two weeks before the wedding we had a meeting with Lyssa, the event coordinator, who basically just took our dinner order. She was extremely disinterested to the point of being negative.
The day of the wedding was a disaster. There was apparently a wedding in that space before ours and our wedding was clearly thrown together at the last minute. The chairs in the garden were set up so that barely one person could get down the middle aisle, even though there was plenty of room on the outside aisles. No chance of father walking daughter down the aisle -- we have no pictures of that. Bride bouquet not ready 15 minutes before wedding. Music from restaurant not turned off during vows. Guests told to go inside after wedding to sign guest book, doors to Nest were locked so family member had to run around to front, go through Nest and unlock doors. The cake was lopsided, it was decorated with fresh flowers but looked like it was thrown together. Another one for the pictures. I showed a picture of the cake to a coworker and she literally gasped.
Dinner: food was good, service horrible. Guests with empty glasses (we had open bar and were very specific that we wanted our guests treated well). Multiple guests received wrong orders. Multiple family members went to find staff at different times to take orders. Cake was cut after dinner in the garden, lights were not turned on, family went in to find staff, lights finally turned on after cake-cutting. Service generally extremely inattentive. The flowers were beautiful.
The bride and groom were smiling, happy and gracious, so wedding was a success. No thanks to Ouisies.

I held a wedding in May and the event as a whole was wonderful! The service throughout the evening was good and everyone agreed the food itself was phenomenal. The total price for around 80 guests (with an essentially open bar, three hors d'oeuvres and three menu options with salad) was pretty reasonable. I was working with a budget of 15K and if I had not gone over my dress, photos or entertainment, we could have stayed within that value. Jordan was the event planner and she was very helpful early in our reservation process, however there were some hiccups on the day of the wedding that I wish she would have been a little more upfront about/present for. 1 hour before the ceremony began, we discovered that table arrangement that was explicitly outlined in our Party Reservation Agreement was wrong and my mother and one of my bridesmaids spent 30 minutes frantically trying to get the arrangement correct, as it would have affected our seating chart. Jordan was not exactly upfront about the other events going on in coincidence with our ceremony either. We reserved Lucy's porch and the courtyard for the ceremony and reception, however there is another garden area behind the courtyard which can also be reserved. She failed to mention that a cocktail part (a rather rowdy one) had booked that area for the same time. Needless to say, we were not able to prepare for that, and attendees had a very difficult time hearing the actual ceremony because the gate was left open (we did not arrange for a microphone for our officiant). Other than those two setbacks, the wedding was lovely and the staff was professional (but I really can't emphasize enough, the disappointment I felt in regards to the noise going on during the ceremony - if you want to ensure this does not happen spend the money and book both areas). Ask about using the wine room before hand, it's awesome! Shundra did an excellent job with flowers and they were very reasonable (Ouisie's florist).

Ouisie's has always been one of my most favorite spots in Houston! The ambiance and set up lends itself perfect for a romantic wedding spot. It was at the top of my list when I got engaged and started shopping for wedding venues. It was the easiest decision I made picking this place. From the get go, Jordan was very responsive and always willing to answer my questions or work with my wedding coordinator. I always had an email response that same day! She was always punctual and polite when I brought up any issues or concerns. Now, let me tell you about Shundra. OMG!!!!!!!!!! She was amazing! I brought in pictures of my floral vision and she worked miracles. When I walked into the room on my wedding night, I was BLOWN away. She far surpassed my expectations and it was so fun to work with her! She is a true delight and Ouisie's is lucky to have her. The other comment I want to note, is that the management was present and visible at my wedding reception the whole night! Wafi was there to ensure everything was smooth and any need was taken care of. Ouisie's has impeccable service and I appreciate him being there to make sure everything was top notch. Even being VERY picky, I really can't think of anything that wasn't up to satisfaction. It was truly a perfect and the most memorable evening!

I am very pleased with my wedding! However, like many of the other reviewer's have stated, I was less than happy (and often frustrated) with my interactions with Jordan, the event coordinator. She seemed very annoyed by my questions, which having never planned a wedding, I don't know how things go and had a lot of questions!
That said, I think using Ouisie's was a really good choice and I have only happy thoughts about my event, regardless of my frustrations. It was a HUGE money saver compared to a lot of other venues (regardless of miscellaneous additional costs). And the event room, Lucy's porch and the bear garden, were beautiful.

My family and I love Ouisie's. The food is always top notch, the venue is romantic and quaint, and the service is some of the best in Houston. I thought it would be the perfect wedding venue, so I booked it about a year before the wedding. When I met with Jordan, the wedding coordinator at Ouisie's, my family and I were all very confused with everything she had to say. We had to withdraw our reservation because of the lack of personal attention from Jordan that should be given to planning a large event. Correspondence was sparse, questions were answered vaguely, there were no clear budget lines, and any communication we had with Jordan was flippant. Our concerns started growing with each interaction and led us to search for another venue.
I HIGHLY recommend that everyone has a dinner at Ouisie's in the near future, but I strongly encourage you to NOT have your reception with this venue because of their wedding coordinator.

On March 14, 2015 my husband and I had our wedding reception at Ouisie's Table. Let me say it was the best decision we made! I knew the moment we got engaged that I wanted to hold it at Ouisie's simply because I love the food and the ambiance was perfect to what I had in mind. What made it all the better was the level of service that was provided by the ENTIRE staff! Jordan was so responsive from the beginning and so very helpful the day of; it was a relief! I knew I could count on her to make sure my needs were being met and the best part was that she had a relaxed/confident attitude - which as a bride you want to deal with! Shundra is their in house florist...and let me say this lady has talent! Ouisie's struck gold with her because after our one meeting I knew we were in great hands. I had a problem verbalizing what I wanted, but she knew EXACTLY what I had in mind and helped me paint the picture. The only complaint I have was the transition of my flowers from the ceremony to the reception, but honestly with so much going on it was not a big deal. When we arrived the place looked exactly what I had in mind. There are zero complaints. To this day I have guests tell me how wonderful everything was! My husband and I could not have asked for anything better. Another plus is that we forgot to take the top tier of the cake home (Italian creme cake...best cake ever), and Jordan assured me that when we come back on our one year anniversary the cake would be on the house...talk about hospitality! I'll end by saying the service from the valet to the servers was top of the line - my guests told me they were super impressed!

I was very displeased with my experience trying to plan my wedding at Ouisie’s Table. I met the coordinator at the bridal show and fell in love with the idea of a one-stop-venue.
When we signed the contract, the first coordinator Katherine seemed to really understand what we wanted. Unfortunately, she ended up leaving a few months later. I found this out when I emailed her and Jordan emailed me back saying she was taking over our wedding. Jordan just never understood what we wanted. We explained it over and over along with other aspects of the wedding.
All in all, I don't think she understood or cared about what made me want to get married there in the first place. The worst part is that she was difficult to get in touch with and had a slow response to my emails and phone calls. I would go three to four days without receiving a reply to my questions and would instead receive numerous automated email replies about how Jordan was out of the office. However, when I did finally get in contact with her, she was very rude and not very helpful. She didn't want to do what we wanted and fought us about our choices the whole way. It may seem silly, but I had an idea of what I wanted my wedding to be and with Jordan I got the sense that it wasn’t going to happen. I decided to cancel my wedding there and found a new venue. It was very disappointing experience overall.

The first time I went to Ouisie's Table, I had a fabulous meal with excellent service and the place had a charming feel that I fell in love with. I was thrilled that they took care of everything: venue, food, cake, even flowers. The woman that we met with gave us the information and after some deliberation and comparison, we committed. I then took my parents to Ouisie's for lunch to show them the venue. It was a disaster: Terrible service, salad greens that had gone bad. I should have taken this as a sign that Ouisie's Table is inconsistent, but I was so charmed by the place that I overlooked this experience. I went back a few times and had better experiences, which seemed to validate my hope for the best.
As the planning got underway, things got frustrating. I didn't feel they were very clear about what their "minimums" meant, and when it looked like we wouldn't meet the food/alcohol minimum, despite purchasing lots of other food/drinks, there would be a room surcharge. They had misinformed me of how many guests my room of choice held, which forced us to use a different room. The wedding planner changed - twice, and each time I had to re-negotiate a promised allowance. I was told there was a room to get ready and then informed, but then found out it was $1500 extra. Chairs were extra...etc. This information was NOT in their wedding package.
The worst was three days before the wedding, after I was within the "no cancellation" timeframe, the planner emailed to tell me that the orientation of my wedding had to change 180 degrees due to another party. They offered a very small recompense, but the whole thing was completely unprofessional.
The day of the wedding, everything went fine until the reception. The groom and I were supposed to have a plate of hors d'oeuvres saved for us. We were starving, it was nowhere to be found, and then we had to ask someone. The plate that showed up was NOT the hors d'oeuvres I had ordered. When I later asked guests, they said hors d'oeuvres were not offered, or whisked away, only some people got bread.
I signaled to the planner asking if they were ready for the champagne toast and she said yes - but they weren't. The glasses were not ready when they were supposed to be, they didn't arrive until the 3rd toast! The planner was supposed to be keeping the schedule, did she actually do any planning? And we specifically had instructed the planner to have waiters ASK guests whether they wanted champagne or apple cider, and they didn't. People ended up with cider who wanted champagne...etc. The waiters asked for my order and the groom's WHILE people were toasting us. It was incredibly rude and we told them to back off. And they were shuttling servers THROUGH our reception (right by the sweetheart table) to one of the other rooms for another party.
It was as if Ouisie's Table had NEVER hosted a reception of any kind because they were simply idiotic in their service.
And for the people who ordered the salmon, it was rare.
Overall, I didn't want to cancel and I made my peace with my choice of venue and I was able to enjoy the night, enjoy my food, and not let these annoyances get to me. But we spent a lot of money there and I can't say I would recommend it to anyone unless you go in with your eyes open and make things very very very clear and specific with specific consequences if Ouisie's Table screws it up. Because they probably will.

The number one priority when we started planning our wedding was to have great food. We're "foodies" and we've all been to weddings where the food is cold, overcooked, etc. Ouisie's delivered on all accounts - great service and fantastic food! We've had numerous comments since our wedding complimenting the wait staff at Ouisie's. All of the meals at each table were served at the same time - hot, and delicious! The vast majority of our guests ordered the bacon wrapped tenderloin and each one of them was cooked to perfection. The servers never let a single glass run dry... needless to say, our guests had a blast.
Add to that, Ouisie's takes care of the cake and the flowers as well (one stop shopping!). The cake was so good that one of our friends that has been strictly sticking to Paleo for months ate a bite... and then finished the entire serving. And the flowers... I can't say enough good things about Shundra (the floral manager) and how great she was to work with.
All in all, an absolutely perfect event! Thank you again Ouises!

I used Ouisie's Table for my late lunch reception on a Saturday. Overall, we had a very good experience. I'll break it all down
Pros:
- restaurant environment with trained servers and perfect timing
- they have an in-house event coordinator to help things flow smoothly
- they create the menus at no additional cost
- plenty of delicious selections to choose from. (we picked shrimp & grits, chicken fried steak, and lemon chevre as our three main choices).
- beautiful room
- they can accomadate vegetarian or vegan requests without having to add an option to the menu.
- it's really a great deal for what you get.
Cons
- they lost our original contract for a while (but eventually found it-- not without much heartache and stress on our end)
- servers took away food before guests were finished with their plates and did so without asking. The groom ended up eating none of his cake because we were circulating as it was served, and they picked it up uneaten.
- the dinner option is crazy expensive so we decided to go with lunch instead
- more than one event may be going on at a time in a very small space. Try to get the main dining room if you can.

Ouisies is a great place with excellent food. When I started planning our wedding I became frustrated with the number of places that charged thousands to rent their venue and did not even provide chairs or tables for the cost of the rental. We paid a little more for food and alcohol at Ouisie's but we did not have to pay for the venue or things like chairs or tables. They have great service and took care of all the details. They even scanned our invitation and printed matching menu cards and table numbers. The servers were very attentive. The only negative thing was that the servers made a point to overserve the alcohol to increase the bill (and their 20% gratuity.) They would take away full glasses while people were dancing, so they would have to order another. It was totally obvious and we were overcharged, but since they did a great job overall, I wasn't too upset about it. Ouisies is a great place and I would definatley recommend it to anyone that is searching for a unique venue with great food.
