When we first started googling wedding venues in Kona, all we saw were the hotels in the area. We are so grateful that our officiant shared a list of venues that included Papa Kona (formerly Daylight Mind Coffee Company). The 5 star rating does not do this place justice. From our first contact with Alycia until our last song played, we experienced extreme professionalism and the Aloha spirit from everyone involved. Alycia was super attentive, flexible, and was diligent in ensuring our itinerary stayed on track. The set up was superb, the food was truly fantastic (they even make the wedding cake onsite), and the bartenders did their best to keep the party going. If you are looking for a venue that offers a breath taking view for your wedding and want to hear your guests say, “this is the best wedding I’ve been to”, then I would highly recommend Papa Kona Events!

Where do I even begin?
This is THE perfect place to get married on the Big Island! I love everything about it and my wedding was incredible! Julia and her team made planning the wedding easy, I didnt have to worry about a thing when my big day arrived. Everything was exquisite. It even rained on, and Julia was able to pull off Plan B so perfectly, you would think that was the way it was planned.
Communications were east, Julia responds quickly and doesn't forget any detail. If you are local, check this place out! It you are from out of town and are planning a destination wedding, look no further! The pictures to this place don't do it justice.
We live in town, but most of our guests came from out of town. We had a wedding of 100 that was easily accommodated, and EVERYONE complimented the food. We chose the luau buffet and the best part was that Julia and her team packed up all of our leftovers to take home!
Thank you Julia for helping to make my dream wedding come true!!

Julia and the Daylight Mind team did an amazing job identifying appropriate vendors, coordinating them and remotely guiding the two of us though the intricacies of a Kona coffee farm destination wedding. The wedding ceremony and reception went off beautifully and everyone was very pleased with the results. We truly enjoyed working with Julia, consider her a friend and are greatly appreciative of her efforts.

All our guests raved about the food. The cake was beautiful and the woman who delivered the food was able to place the flowers on the cake prior to setting it out. We did have to get the place settings the day prior to the ceremony (the food didn't get delivered until after the ceremony, so it would still be hot), then take the dishes and chafing dishes back the next day. There was some confusion as to what was being provided, but it worked out in the end. The food was great and they were easy to work with. We would use them again!

Contracting with Daylight Mind as our caterer for our daughter's destination wedding at the Holualoa Inn, Hawaii March 2018 was one of our best vendor choices. The event coordinator, Julia Pittman, was timely and cordial, and so helpful with all our questions and requests. The staff orchestrated a seamless event- the chef station was amazing, the compliments for the food were over the top, the bartending and wait staff were so charming and efficient. Thank you!

This was definitely the best place to have our wedding! We booked the venue sight unseen, and really couldn't have been happier with everything. The venue is absolutely stunning, you really can't get more ocean views than at Daylight Mind! We also were able to use the small oceanfront lawn for our ceremony which was 1. gorgeous and 2. so convenient for our guests. There was no need to transport anyone and there bar was right upstairs so our friends and family could enjoy cocktail hour while we took photos at the park next door. While we had just shy of thirty guests, the space still felt intimate and we were all able to sit at one long table while I can see bigger parties fitting comfortably as well. And the food was fantastic! We were fortunate enough to make it over to Big Island (we live on O'ahu) about a month before the wedding and have dinner and we were hooked! Not only did our guests rave about the dinner and cake at the reception (we had a whole pig!), we came back to eat with family and friends many times while we were in town. Everything they have on the menu is delicious! The staff was really welcoming, and the bartender took great care of our guests. Lastly, I have to say that Julia was the most amazing person to work with. She always responded quickly and was helpful at every turn. She really eased my mind with the planning from Honolulu and made me feel like there was someone on island if I needed anything. She was there to offer advice on vendors, guide me through choosing the menu, and took care of the little details that I hadn't even though of (like where and how I would walk down the aisle!). I feel so fortunate to have had her for our wedding. I cannot recommend enough Daylight Mind for your event!

Everyone says planing a wedding is stressful. We made the opposite experience- with Julia on our side it was a wonderful and simple process with lots of laughter-that we really enjoyed- especially the wedding day itself- better than what we could have dreamed of! I would always choose it again!

This is review is so overdue. Julia Berman and the Daylight Mind Coffee Company did an amazing job with our wedding reception. Not only was the venue a perfect location for our evening dinner (we had an awesome Hawaiian Sunset) Julia did a great job with coordinating all the logistics of our event.
When we first contacted her she set a very professional tone and my wife and I knew that we can trust her and that we were in good hands. She was very responsive and courteous with all her communications, from phone calls, to emails, and text messages. She was able to answer all the questions we had and left us no doubt that everything would go smooth.
I was also very impressed with how the venue was decorated. Julia and Daylight Mind were able to take my wife’s vision and make into a reality. My wife and I were very happy with the ambience and the reception setting. It was absolutely perfect. I might be biased because it was my wedding, but it was honestly the best wedding reception venue I have been too.
And the food was so dam good! We got so many compliments from our guests on how they loved the it. And the great part about the buffet style we had was that it was very cost effective and fit very well into our budget. And the wedding cake they served us was delicious. Some guests even commented that it was the best wedding cake they have ever had. We got the Lili koi filling.
If you are looking for a great venue with an ocean view setting and an awesome coordinator, check out Julia Berman and the Daylight Mind Coffee Company.

Daylight Mind Coffee Company did an excellent job hosting our reception dinner. Julia Berman the wedding coordinator was helpful in creating my vision for table design, food and beverage choices, and all around ease of the evening. She is professional at her job and has your best intentions at mind. The entire staff was considerate, friendly, and all around helpful. The view from the top floor is beyond breathtaking. It's practically a 270 degree view of pure ocean and makes for a fantastic back drop for pictures. Our photographer had zero issue finding places to snap photos of my husband and I. The lava rock and water down below is a great place to start.
We chose two special drinks: Hibiscus Moscow mule and Pineapple smash. They were both equally tasty and loved by everyone.
The food met all my expectations and more. There were zero complaints from anyone about the food. Everything was fresh, healthy, tasty, and beautiful! We opted for the 3 sides and 3 main entrees and I am glad we did. (Mostly because everything tasted so great). The short ribs, furikake encrusted fresh catch, and the vegetable risotto were amongst some of the favorites. We had 50 people - some kids, gluten-free/vegetarians, and everyone was happy and full.
I cant say enough positive things about this place.
If you're looking to have a perfect reception dinner- this is your spot! Thank you Daylight Mind co. for making it a breeze.

Daylight mind was an incredible place to have our destination wedding ceremony and reception. Julia was so responsive and helpful when we were deciding all the way from Iowa on our venue. On our big day, Julia did an amazing job coordinating the event and it went so smoothly with her help! Food was awesome, and the scenery was amazing! All of the staff at daylight were so friendly and helpful, we wish we could do it all again!

Just a few months out from our wedding date, there was a hitch and we had to change venues. Luckily, Daylight Mind was available for our date and it turned out to be the perfect spot! We had the ceremony on the lawn, and the reception upstairs. The lawn was a good size for our cermony, we had a total of about 50 in our party, with about 38 seated. Daylight Mind supplied the chairs, which saved us a bit of money, so that was awesome! The uke player set up next to us with a mic, we stood right along the wall near the ocean, and our guests had a great view of not only the wedding party and the ocean, but of whales breaching in the distance right before the ceremony started (not joking, the uke player noticed and told the group, and also sang a song about whales. I wish I had noticed but I had vows running through my head, and general spotlight anxiety right before the big walk...).
The reception took place on the second floor of the restaurant, and we had the whole upstairs to ourselves. They also closed it off a few hours before our event so that we could come in and help set up the place (though, I myself do not know how much went on that morning since I was getting hair and makeup done at a separate location). We didn't have a lot of decorating to add ourselves, but it was nice to know that they offered up that time for us, if we needed.
Their table settings and organization of everything looked great. The food was incredible! We used their menu, not an outside caterer, and all night our guests were coming up and saying that it was the best wedding food they've ever had (and I have to agree as well). My favorite appetizers were the ahi poke shooters and bacon wrapped scallops-- get them! They also made our cake, so we didn't have to worry about it getting to the venue on time, or in one piece.
They did everything! Which was so helpful for planning, and also for set up and clean up. It was also easy because we were coordinating with one person the whole time, Julia. It made the back and forth of it all less stressful, and she was extremely helpful!
It's a beautiful location right on the water, in downtown Kailua-Kona. Can't promise the whales for your event, but you can pretty much count on anything else with Daylight Mind. We plan on visiting whenever we go back. Their coffee is also bangin.

We planned our destination wedding from across the ocean (we're in Oregon) and went through 3 different event planners while planning our event over a 9month period and finally Julia came along and was great! There were some accommodations that were previously promised that she wasn't aware of and honored them, no problem. We rented out the top lanai and 40+ of our closest friends and family flew over with us to join us on our special day. The top lanai area is HUGE and it could have definitely held WAY more than 50 people. There was plenty of room for all of our guests to be seated on the lanai along with our sweetheart table and cake table and then the DJ set up with a packed dance floor inside and nobody was stepping over each other. The food was something that all my husband and I and ALL of our guests were happy with and we had TONS of left overs. I DIY'ed all of my decorations and sent them over to our wedding planner ahead of time, it looked amazing and it was nice to make the space "ours." We even got to take some pictures at sunset right down the steps from the top deck. I'm so thankful my wedding planner suggested this venue for us, it was perfect.

We had our New Years Eve wedding reception on the top deck at Daylight Mind and it was wonderful! The event coordinator, Julia, was very easy to work with. We planned the event from Washington, DC and it was easy to communicate via email and phone. Julia helped organize a custom vegetarian dinner and dessert menu with ice cream sandwiches (dairy free, too!). The space itself worked out well for our wedding of 65 guests, but it could have easily accommodated more. All of our guests commented on how professional and kind the staff at Daylight Mind was during our reception. Everything came together beautifully and we would not have changed a thing. I would highly recommend Daylight Mind for a wedding reception or other events.

This venue was absolutely beautiful! We had a small party (30 people) and it was perfect! The outdoor dining space was breathtaking, and the indoor space was perfect for use of the buffet and separate dance floor. The service was great, the food and drinks were both very good. In preparation for the wedding the event manager was very helpful and accommodating with the menu. We were very happy with our choice to have our reception at Daylight Mind, if I had to do it all over I wouldn't change a thing!
