Personal Touch Dining - Full Service Catering

Food was better the day of our wedding than it was during our tasting. We were happy with our selections and luckily had some to take home with us for lunch the next day! Desserts were delicious too!

Personal Touch Dining (PTD) was an absolute dream to work with. From start to finish, they were responsive, professional, well-organized, and genuinely thoughtful in their approach. We were looking for a catering and bar vendor that felt elevated and polished—and PTD exceeded our expectations in every way. Their menu offerings were extensive and impressive, with delicious options for hors d'oeuvres, dinner, desserts, and even late-night snacks. The bar menu was equally flexible, with multiple tiers and the ability to customize. We were thrilled that they happily incorporated our signature cocktail (a Jungle Bird) and provided accommodations for various dietary needs, including tree nut and shellfish allergies, gluten sensitivities, vegetarian guests, and even a kid-friendly meal for our nephew. Despite my last-minute request for a tasting (due to planning from out of town), they accommodated me with grace, and the experience felt anything but rushed. It was clear from that moment that we were in excellent hands. A special shoutout to Samantha Contreras, our main point of contact and Sales Manager, who went above and beyond to schedule the tasting and guide us throughout the planning process. She was incredibly responsive, knowledgeable, and kind—truly a pleasure to work with. In the weeks leading up to the wedding, the PTD team remained communicative and supportive, always making us feel like a priority. They coordinated seamlessly with our wedding planner, making the entire planning process smooth and stress-free. On the big day, every detail was executed flawlessly—from linens and flatware to custom bar signs and table numbers. The food was delicious, the carne asada fries late-night snack was a huge hit, and we received endless compliments from our guests. The staff was friendly, attentive, and professional, and the bartenders brought just the right energy. A special moment we won’t forget: one of the catering staff joined in on the dancefloor (cheered on by guests!), adding to the fun, celebratory vibe of the evening. A special shoutout to the staff manager, who made sure my husband and I always had food and drinks in hand—even as we bounced between photos and guests. PTD was a standout vendor that delivered both exceptional service and unforgettable moments. We’d recommend them wholeheartedly to anyone planning a big event.

We got married at the Old Rancho a few weeks ago. I cannot speak more highly of the venue and the management team! The Old Rancho is a private estate that is run by Personal Touch Dining. The outdoor areas of the venue are beautiful and eliminated the need for extra flowers. The market lighting and amenities provided made wedding planning a breeze. I also want to give a special out to our event coordinator Josie and day of coordinator Kaitlyn. They made sure that everything on the day of our wedding went smoothly. If you are looking for a wedding venue in San Diego, do not skip visiting the Old Rancho and letting Personal Touch Dining show you why they have received so many awards!

Annalisa and the PTD team were AMAZING for our wedding back in March 2024! Our guests couldn't stop talking about the short rib, the mashed potatoes, and our churro station for months after. Annalisa was highly communicative throughout the planning process, and even offered support in finding other rentals vendors that they commonly work with. When we went to do our tasting, they put on a little date night for us with candles, soft music, and a fully plated meal, which was so sweet and such a nice surprise in the midst of a busy work week. PTD's entire staff at the wedding, from the servers to the bartenders, ensured our guests had everything they needed and were timely with all of the courses and drink requests. Choosing a caterer is one of the most important parts of a wedding, so I was SO relieved to find a company like Personal Touch that truly took what can often be an underwhelming part of a wedding to the next level!! Can't recommend PTD enough! We chose them to be our wedding caterer for our June wedding in La Jolla after getting quotes (and doing tastings) with multiple other caterers. We were blown away by their delicious food; the menu options were great and the team worked with us to make customizations throughout the process. Pricing was reasonable, especially given the quality. We really appreciated their flexibility with the bar package (other caterers were not willing to let us mix/match alcohols, and we were also able to supplement our own beer/wine with a few specifics that we knew our guests loved!) The staff were all super friendly and lovely to work with day-of. I really enjoyed working with Annalisa and Ashley during the planning as well- their patience and kindness throughout the process was much appreciated! Highly recommend PTD for any couple looking to elevate their wedding experience!

The Personal Touch team was so great to work with! From Derek showing us the property last year, to the day-of wedding coordinator, Sam, and all staff, we could not have asked for a better experience. The venue was absolutely beautiful and all team members were so helpful throughout the process. The food was so delicious too!! We got so many compliments about the day and venue and it wouldn't have happened without the PTD team - I would recommend them to anyone looking!!

Personal Touch catering was on the preferred vendor list of our venue, Scripps Seaside Forum. After reaching out to five vendors and having two tastings, Personal Touch shined as the obvious winner. During our planning journey with Personal Touch, they made it easy to customize our meal selection, plan for allergies, and stick by our sustainable values. We had a cocktail hour and sit down dinner, which was delicious from start to finish. They even went the extra mile to create a tray for the bride and groom to privately snack on. During our sit down dinner, the guests raved about the food, and the bride was particuarly happy that it came out hot. They were very professional, well-dressed, and efficient. They even were accomodating to help serve wedding cake after the dinner service at no extra cost! Our one small complaint is that the wait staff was a little too efficient at bussing the cake from tables during the dancing hour; many guests were unable to enjoy desert. Otherwise, we would use them again and again!

Hire Personal Touch Dining as your wedding caterer! Working with them was an absolute joy and they made the experience so easy when in an otherwise stressful and overwhelming planning environment. Derek was so amazing to collaborate with, responsive to my emails and questions, and really listened to what we wanted. The staff and venue coordinator Kylee on our wedding day were so helpful and made the day run smoothly. My bustle broke on my wedding dress and Kylee jumped right in to help sew in a new loop so my dress could be bustled properly. Outstanding caterer with great food, great service and great presentation. They were our caterer through our venue The Old Rancho, and can’t imagine hiring anyone better. We had a wedding coordinator as one of our wedding guests and they said it was the best wedding food they’ve had, and that they were sad our caterer wasn’t in Portland to cater their own wedding. Recommend 10/10

We had a wedding at the Old Rancho at the beginning of this summer. It is a beautiful adobe estate, with multiple levels of yard/garden used for weddings. PTD did a wonderful job coordinating and catering our wedding at the location. I didn't hire a planner and depended on their month and day of coordination. I did a lot of the planning and then handed over the details to them. They are an efficient and capable team! We are thankful for Kendra who went through the original contracting process and tasting, Caitlin who took over the month of coordinating, and Sam who was our day-of-coordinator. Our wedding turned out beautiful and we had a lot of compliments from guests that are due to the PTD team. The food and service was excellent. Sam kept the vendors to the timeline and kept the micro-events moving. She brought my husband and I drinks right after the ceremony, and our food first during dinner so we actually had a chance to eat. For the venue and service PTD provides, the cost of the venue rental and catering is really reasonable. HIGHLY recommended!

PTD, especially Annalisa, Jaycee, and Jesse, stood out as some of the most admirable individuals we encountered during the preparation and execution of our wedding. Amazing company and got because went through the venue and was very happy and surprised with how great they were. Because heard horror stories about some places catering through the venue and they are good too. I would say the only down fall was they only do tastings so often and may not give you tons of time to find another caterer. Was amazing that they made sure that the bride and groom got to be able to get appetizers after not having time with photos and videos. Would suggest ANYONE look into this fine company.

My now-husband and I cannot say enough great things about our experience working with Personal Touch Dining as our wedding caterer!! Personal Touch Dining was one of around 8 - 10 approved caterers for our venue (La Jolla Woman's Club). We had done two tastings with other caterers but weren't feeling confident about either. When I reached out to PTD, I received a timely and informative response from Annalisa. We worked through a tentative menu plan, which wasn't the easiest ask as we wanted to cater to a variety of diets (I'm vegan, we have a decent amount of family and friends who were gluten-free and/or didn't eat red meat). The team was SO accommodating. We scheduled our tasting and had a truly exceptional experience with Annalisa and team. The ambiance in the tasting room was inviting and romantic. They offered us complimentary sparkling wine and the food absolutely blew us away. We were also able to look at china, linens, and other upgrades - which was so helpful to feel and see in person! Staying within budget was important to us and we were able to find a great selection within range. The cost was very reasonable for the quality of food and service. Communication with Annalisa and the PTD team was a dream. Many questions and tweaks came up on my end in the months leading up to our wedding day; I felt very taken care of through the entire process. We had so many guests compliment how good the food was - several said it was the best food they ever had at a wedding. I'd have to agree! The Teriyaki Salmon and Baked Eggplant Stacks specifically were major hits. The catering staff provided top-notch service. Everyone was professional and warm. One wonderful staff member went out of her way to bring me our vegan appetizers after I had been taking photos for what felt like several hours. Personal Touch Dining had the perfect menu and price point for our post-COVID wedding celebration! They fit my maid of honor and bridesman (we live abroad) in for a tasting right before Christmas and even were willing to trial a new requested appetizer my husband requested. They also provided us with all the rentals we needed (basic options for our budget, meticulously itemized). We had a taco bar and they provided a portion of the vegetarian protein for our vegetarian guests along with the non-vegetarian options we selected, which was a wonderful surprise to me. Also the spinach and artichoke grilled cheese appetizer and the grazing table were huge hits! It's hard to find a caterer that provides enough tasty food at the right moments without blowing the budget so if that's your vision, Personal Touch is the way to go!

Loved working with Annalisa and her team. We felt truly cared for every step of the way from the moment we reached out to the wrap up of the event. Everything looked so wonderful for our wedding, we were so happy with how it all turned out! The food was excellent which is always something that’s hit or miss at weddings and ours was a hit! We hired Personal Touch for our wedding at the Martin Johnson House in February and were pleased with their service! After contacting a few other vendors from our venue's preferred caterers list, PTD seemed very reasonably priced and offered a wide range of menu options. They even coordinated our rentals (tables, chairs, lighting, space heaters, etc.) and cake (from Flour Power bakery) so that we did everything through them, which was very convenient. They were very communicative throughout the planning process, which was helpful as we were planning from across the country. Everything went relatively smoothly on the big day, the set-up was beautiful and food was good! We were pleased and would hire them again

We hired Personal Touch for our wedding and they were fantastic from start to finish! The food was delicious and memorable, and they provided an all-in-one service by renting, setting up, and breaking down our tables, chairs, linens, silverware, glassware, etc. Everything went perfectly on our special day, and their servers were very friendly as well! Leading up, Annalisa and Jaycee were a dynamic duo who gave us their full menu and upfront pricing right away with no hidden fees, tricks, missing services, etc. that we saw from some other caterers. They were super responsive and very patient with us throughout the planning and logistics process and communicated very clearly. They were a pleasure to talk with and always helped us feel excited about the wedding! The pricing was very competitive and a good value given all the services they provided and how amazing the food was. Highly recommend doing a food tasting in their office once you book with them - it was a phenomenal experience!

Personal Touch Dining provided catering and day-of coordination for our wedding at the gorgeous Mt. Woodson Castle. We met with Peyton to tour the venue, and she was professional, thorough, and kind. During the planning process, Peyton answered all our questions, and always kept us updated on next steps. Personal Touch provided an elegant tasting for us at their main offices in Scripps Ranch. For the rehearsal and day of the event, we worked with Kelsey who was fun, vibrant and professional. The day of the event went off without a hitch! Personal Touch provides all the set-up and tear-down of the venue. Kelsey kept us on schedule and helped us to keep the event moving smoothly. Personal Touch Dining is a 5-star catering company - the food is wonderful. Our guests were very happy with the food and bar service. Also, their coordination services gave us piece of mind and allowed us to truly make our wedding day the BEST DAY of our lives.

PTD was amazing! We had a great experience with our tasting and the food was soooo good on the wedding day. The staff was super friendly and were great to work with. Now I just hope to go to another wedding where PTD is the caterer so I can enjoy the food again!

Personal Touch Dining was the best. When we looked at wedding venues we hadn't planned on getting an all inclusive type of venue but I'm so glad we did. I have to say specifically Katie Vieira made our wedding day absolutely perfect. She kept everything in line, made sure everyone was where they were supposed to be at important moments. She gave us space but also was close enough to help with anything we needed throughout the entire day (and night before). I loved working with her! The food was 2355/10. SO delicious. Not only that but there were so many different food options to choose from. On the day of our wedding they made our plates for us and introduced the Chef to us!! It was so cute and made us feel very welcomed. They took all the decor I gave them day of and set it up for me, cleaned it, made it perfect. My dreams truly came to life due to this exceptional team. ALSO I forgot multiple tools for the easels and the team without question found exactly what I needed and helped me with it. There wasn't a moment where I didn't feel like I had full support. Thank you SO MUCH PTD. I hope we get to use you again + I plan on recommending you to everyone we know!

My husband and I really enjoyed working with Personal Touch Dining and everyone from their staff! They made the whole process super easy and enjoyable for us. Our favorite part was doing the tasting menu and getting to try all of the amazing cuisine. And not to mention our guests absolutely loved everything they served! My husband and I are very pleased with our experience with PTD. We had our wedding at the Japanese Friendship Garden and they provided their catering service, rentals with set up and break down, and bar service. Annalisa made the planning process for our event simple. She kept an open line of communication and all of the information they provided was very clear and detailed. If Annalisa was not available, Sam was able to answer our questions in a very timely matter. When we scheduled our taste testing, we were able to make our meal choices for our wedding there as well as the rentals. It was hard to pick our menu because everything tasted so wonderful! PTD’s staff went above and beyond to take care of us and our guests. While I was occupied during cocktail hour bustling my dress, they came to the bridal room and provided an appetizer plate for me and my bridal party to make sure we would not go hungry. They also left one for my husband and I at our sweetheart table. Some of our guests arrived after the dinner service and the buffet was already cleared. The staff went out of their way to still serve them a warm dinner. Not only did they pack all of the leftover food, they also packed mine and labelled it because I did not have a chance to finish my dinner. All of our guests had nothing but great things to say about the food and drinks! They also enjoyed having the ice cream bar during our summer wedding. We truly appreciate PTD’s service and are so very thankful for making our wedding celebration a wonderful one!

Phenomenal catering company! They were very responsive and on top of it from start to finish. Food was amazing, we got a lot of good feedback from our guests at our wedding. The staff on our wedding day were polite and everything ran smooth allowing us to have a stress free day. Personal Touch was amazing in all aspects! All of the pre-planning with details was easy to keep track of as Sam and Annalisa were quick with their response times. They helped plan menu options and have all of our dreams for catering work out so easily! It was also great food, as many of our guests who have been to many weddings said it was some of the best wedding food! They were super accommodating when our guest count changed from the original number. During the day, they were always checking in with us to see if we needed anything and making sure they were going with the timeline. Highly recommend them catering your wedding!

We had our wedding at Mount Woodson Castle. All of the catering is done by personal touch dining. The food was great! Everyone loved their meals. They were very accommodating with special meals as well. We had a pie bar for dessert and that was super delicious too! Great service.

Of all the components that go into a wedding, I thought catering and event rentals would be the most stressful. However, PTD's team was incredibly responsive and easy to work with. Lauren, Annalisa, and Sam were amazing! Our original headcount was 110 but came down to 65 due to pandemic reasons, so we did become subject to food minimums. But it was an excuse to add another appetizer and choose great entrees :) The food was really good (probably the best wedding food I've had!), and the service was excellent. I forgot to take a picture of the appetizers, but the waiters brought us a flight during dinner, in case we hadn't had a chance to try them all during cocktail hour. I thought that was super thoughtful. We got to take home around 5 extra entrees, which ended up being really handy easy meals as we recovered from the wedding weekend! We also did an open bar and event rentals through PTD. Since our ceremony and reception were at the same venue, PTD also did the flip service free of charge. All in all, we had a great experience with PTD and highly recommend them!

Personal Touch truly brought my wedding dreams to reality. From the delicious food & appetizers, to the rentals & linens, to handling day-of problems with ease, Personal Touch was amazing. I was a COVID bride and through several rescheduled dates, Personal Touch was so accommodating and flexible. The day of I forgot to bring the garnishes and the wine I had bought expired. Personal Touch filled in with garnishes and went out and bought new wine- my guests loved the new wine they chose. They really went above and beyond. I specifically want to thank Annalise and Sam, Tracy, Lauren. Everyone was so incredibly patient and flexible and truly caring. I would recommend them to anyone and hope to use them again in the future.

PTD overall was fabulous for our wedding at Sacred Mountain Julian. Special shoutout to Annalisa and Sam that assisted me all the way from the Proposal to the wedding week. They were wonderful to work with. I'll start with the pros: (1) The food was outstanding as noted in so many of the reviews. We opted for buffet style and selected (1) bartender for our (68) guests. We really wanted to have our local wine supplied and beer/champagne was easy enough to get on our own. However, I highly recommend selecting PTD's bartender, he provided amazing service to our guests. So the food, it was just as good on the tasting day, as the day of the wedding. From the grazing table, apps to main entree + sides, they knocked it out the park! (2) The wedding day staff was amazing. They were all kind, super friendly and professional. We even had one gentlemen come out with a golf cart with apps for my bridal party while we were taking photos before cocktail hour (love that and major kudos!). Not to mention, my husband and I were provided the best service at our sweetheart table too. (3) Annalisa and Sam are the best at responding. That is my number #1 need from a vendor. They provided super quick support either via email or phone call that is second to none. Now the cons: (1) I had a total of (68) total guests, food order could have accommodated for (100). Totally understandable PTD makes/preps food for (68), but it would have been so nice to have had at least some leftovers (or 2 total) - for the bride and groom since we technically paid for all the food, regardless of final count. (2) My wedding was at SMJ, where PTD has a lot of experience catering at. 2 weeks before the wedding I was a little caught off guard. I was planning on utilizing the entire space of my venue (who wouldn't) including a 'courtyard area' for cocktail hour. It's about 25' down this beautiful staircase on the ground floor from the reception area where dinner would be held. I was notified that if I wanted to use that space (15 sec walk from dinner area), then I would need to pay for an additional set of staff to pass apps and serve wine at that area because it was 'too far' from where dinner was being served and would require remobilization and a new bar set up. It would have been a nice note from a very experienced caterer of the venue to have let me know or discuss it at least 1-2 mos prior to the wedding day and not 1-2 weeks prior when finalizing my floor-plan/layout/seating chart to call that out. All the final details matter when you're planning. It can be very stressful the final few days and would have been nice to know much sooner or red flagged for anyone looking at SMJ as a venue.

PTD was an absolute joy to work with for our wedding! We got married at Scripps Seaside Forum and they were on a list of about 20 other caterers to pick from. We chose them for a few reasons: 1) All inclusive packages where they also provide not only the food, but dessert, and all the rentals. 2) How quick they were to respond via email and so easy and kind to work with. 3)The menu selection, price point, and presentation. We were so excited to work with them! They made our wedding planning experience easy and fun. I worked closely with Annalisa. Sam also assisted. We had a delicious tasting and decided on the grilled cheese, bacon wrapped dates, ahi poke tacos, and grilled shrimp for our appetizers. The were also running a special for the 4 appetizer to be complimentary! The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because we were really disappointed after our wedding and hearing from too many guests that did not get to see or taste any or all 4 of the appetizers. Personally I feel like food is one of the most important aspects to a wedding. We were so confident with the quality of our menu choice. I never thought I needed to stress and worry about the quantity. However, now when I think about other weddings, it's very common to only see 1-2 types of appetizers and get some or none at all. I wish I would have stressed the importance to us that we want guest at the point of turning servers away if they feel too full. We just fell in love so much with the food that we really wish our guests got to enjoy it too. They definitely made sure to cater to my husband and I for our private moment where they provided us a full plate of appetizers which were absolutely delicious. For dinner, we wanted to mix it up and do stations. We went with their short rib and potatoes and let me tell you guests are still raving about this dish. This was on their original menu, and for our other two stations, they were great at being flexible and letting us create a taco station and a flatbread and salad station. Both good, but nothing as great as their menu selection of the short rib. Take our advice, don't customize the menu and stick to what they make best! Another suggestion is if you do stations and want the tables to look complete with chargers, just be aware guests will have to juggle 3 different plates and figure out where to put it at the table. Some guests I think found it a little funny trying to make a square plate, bowl and round plate all work with the charger. They managed. We are so grateful for the staff providing my husband and I personally more than enough appetizers for our private moment after the ceremony, and again at our dinner table, and they were kind enough to already bring us our dinner. We also asked for meals to go. I can't express enough how absolutely beautiful the venue looked and it mainly all had to do with PTD. All the tables, chairs, vintage furniture, bar, drapery, lighting, etc, was all provided by them. Without them and their staff, there would have been no wedding. PTD is not just a fabulous catering company, but a one stop shop! I wish for everyone to discover them and use them for their special occasion!

We had a great experience with Personal Touch Dining! Annalisa helped us through the entire planning process and we couldn’t have been happier with her service! She really made our experience fantastic. The quotes we received when evaluating vendors actually already had everything we needed, unlike other companies who add items as once you mention them (we certainly forgot details at the beginning). Everyone at our wedding raved about how delicious the food was too! The only things I would have changed were to ensure I requested a full glass of champagne to be poured for toasts (the glasses were only about a third full) and made sure to order extra cake as I think the slices were cut too big since some guests didn’t get any. Still had a great experience and their team was wonderful!

If you’re reading this review, then you’re looking for a budget-friendly, all-in-one venue and event coordinator package. You might be wondering what tradeoffs you’ll have to make to save on costs, while also ensuring your big day goes perfectly. Hopefully this review will help you make that decision. Most importantly, our big day went as expected, was beautiful, and our guests all enjoyed themselves. The food and drinks were good, and we didn’t have to worry about much. The leadup to the event, however, did not go as smooth and had its share of stressful moments. Kendra and her team are very busy, a point which she’ll make clear when details are missed or forgotten. At no point will you feel like there is any investment by her or her team in your big day, it’s a business transaction (not necessarily a bad thing, but something to be aware of). Despite my wife taking copious notes at every meeting, we were told that we were mistaken in our recollection whenever there was a discrepancy of any kind. The contract you sign will not always be followed and you’ll be asked for things prior to the agreed upon dates. You’ll also be asked to resubmit information and details multiple times (again, they’re busy…). Details will change last minute, your final invoice will be incorrect, and at no point will you receive any sort of apology from your event coordinator. Our biggest issue was regarding the final payment date. Our contract stated that it was due at the end of June, so we planned our finances for that. We received an email EOD Thursday, the week before our event, stating that our final payment would be due the following Monday via cashier’s check, two business days. At no time did we receive a phone call to review our final payment and the additional costs that were added. A sentiment we would have appreciated. We would have also appreciated receiving this final number more than a week before our event. When we brought up that this Monday due date did not match our contract, we were told that it was a simple typo and that we’d be given an additional two days to make the payment. To her credit, the CFO, Tracy, was very apologetic and willing to work with us to get a resolution. Still, not the kind of mistake you want to deal with the week before your big day as you’re juggling everything else. A two-month typo in the final payment date is a big deal. In a nutshell, you’ll get a good, budget-friendly event but at the cost of additional stress. You’ll have to actively manage your event leading up to the big day and double/triple check all your documents and details. Our advice is to make sure that you get everything in writing— email was helpful for us. We were able to refer to previous emails we had sent that contained the information they were requesting again, and agreed upon event details that we discussed early in the planning process. Hopefully this review helps you in your decision making.

Personal Touch was incredible. They easily handled our wedding of ~120 guests. Annalisa was amazing and made all of our wishes come true. During our tasting, we were able to sample the wide array of salads, mains, and sides offered. The food was so delicious and were able to serve all our guests with varying dietary restrictions. They also provided tables, chairs, linens, and everything else we needed as well as handled set up and break down. Would recommend them to anyone.
