Petal’s Edge put me on edge. Our wedding was great; the only thing I would do differently if I could go back would be to NOT hire Petal’s Edge (PE). I was planning from overseas and stupidly (in hindsight) put down a deposit based solely on por...tfolio and advice from my planner-- before having a call with Gerry. Had we had that call first, I would NOT have hired her. She was rude, condescending, and really unpleasant. I had pinned some photos of bouquets I liked and she spent most of the call telling me how ones I found to be similar, were, in fact, not similar. She could have said, “Oh it seems like you are drawn to X and Y, is that right?” But she didn’t, she was rude (made a crack about how I didn’t understand how gravity works) and did not provide any value added or professional input. She just kept saying “we can do whatever you want. It’s not up to me, it’s up to you!”
So with the burden of decisions put back on me, and without any professional guidance or creative input from Gerry, I was then left to spend HOURS finding the exact shape bouquet I wanted, the exact flowers, etc. Because I didn’t feel like she “got” what I liked and would do great things with flowers, I had to be prescriptive and clearly outline what I wanted.
Fast forward some time… After having assured me she could get “whatever I wanted” in terms of materials, twenty days before the wedding Gerry informed me and my planner that she was unable to source a major element of my centerpieces. This was disappointing in and of itself, but particularly frustrating that Gerry had never flagged this might be an issue or said like “I’ll have to confirm availability closer to the date”… no warning whatsoever which I think undermines her professionalism.
Lastly, in her revised quotation (once we knew number of tables etc.), the prices for the bouquets went up, after having assured us that flower choice would not impact the budget. She also jacked up delivery charges for seemingly no reason but at this point I found interacting with PE to be a negative distraction so I let it go. However, I found these price adjustments to be just additional instances of being misled and not treated well by Petal’s Edge. The flowers on the day turned out fine (two stars for that), but I had such negative feelings about Gerry and PE by the time of the wedding, I just couldn’t even feel excited about the flowers which, by the way, were not on the cheap end of the spectrum.
Caveat emptor on this one and DEFINITELY meet/call before placing a deposit. If you don’t like what Gerry is dishing out, walk away. I wish I had!
