The Peter Allen House was always a venue I drove by growing up, but never thought it would end up being my dream venue for my wedding day. We fell in love with the beauty of the mansion and the grounds on our first tour. Frank also made us feel comfortable and like we’ve known him for a long time. Our wedding day was nothing short of amazing. Frank, Barb, Christine and the whole team at the Peter Allen house were amazing to work with. They were very accommodating and worked really well with our other vendors. I would highly recommend booking The Historic Peter Allen House as your venue you if you’re looking for a place that is elegant, but also makes you feel at home!
I cannot say enough good things about the owners of this venue, Frank and Barbara. From our very first call with Frank, he came across as friendly, kind, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. Seriously. Frank has rooms of wedding decor available to anyone who books PAH, which really helped us cut down our decor costs and the stress of transporting all of these items to/from the venue. He even offered his own bathroom in his home for my elderly aunt who is unsteady on her feet, worrying that she might have a hard time walking from the tent into the house to use the restroom. What a guy. He went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of and that we were happy throughout the process and on our big day.
The venue itself is absolutely stunning and shines on its own due to Barbara's hard work in making sure the rooms in the house and the grounds look beautiful, even for a rainy wedding at the beginning of May! The guests, especially my out of town guests, couldn't get over the whimsical, romantic charm of the Peter Allen House. Thank you both from the bottom of my heart for making my wedding day something special.
The Peter Allen House was the most beautiful backdrop for our September wedding. We were to get married in May, but had to postpone due to the pandemic. Frank & Barb Pinto, the owners, went above and beyond to make sure our day was perfect. The day of our wedding I was not stressed because I knew all the details were going to be taken care of. We had the most perfect weather, but it was the venue that truly made our wedding that much more memorable to us. Thank you Frank & Barb for helping to make our dream a reality! We are so blessed!
From first contact with Frank and Barbara Pinto to the wedding day itself and in the days leading up and following the wedding, I seriously cannot say enough good things about The Peter Allen House and the owners. Frank and Barbara were absolutely fantastic, understanding and a pleasure to work with – genuinely concerned about meeting needs and flexible with the uncertainty of COVID-19. They are so responsive through phone and in-person that I don’t have one flaw or criticism. The Peter Allen House is a beautiful backdrop for a wedding love story. From the lovely house itself to the peaceful floral grounds, from the gorgeous bridal suite to the spectacular views, this venue is all-around stunning and unique. Frank and Barbara, thank you for making everything so easy and effortless during these changing times. You have been versatile, well organized and the very definition of kind-hearted.
The actual grounds of the Peter Allen House are absolutely stunning. The venue is in pristine condition and is truly a wonderful place to have a wedding. I got married there on September of this year and I couldn't have asked for a more picture perfect day. Even more impressive than the venue are the owners of the property, Frank and Barbra. They instantly take you in and make you feel like family. They have warm personalities and really know how to make you and your family feel at ease over the last minute planning craziness. They did everything in their power to make my husband and I feel special. If you're getting married, put the Peter Allen House at the top of your list! Once you visit you'll fall in love with everything about it!
For what we envisioned, this was a wonderful and stunning venue! The owner (Frank and his wife) was great to work with. Very accommodating to make sure our wedding day was everything we wanted it to be. We had to change plans slightly on the day of the wedding, but I was confident/trusted Frank on his advice. The whole day was flawless! Our guests raved about how beautiful the venue was, and everyone had a wonderful time. The landscaping + the view + the antique beauty of the house made for the best wedding ever. :)
My husband and I were engaged in August 2017. When it was time to start exploring venues, we visited the Peter Allen House first. We me with Frank and showed us the entire property. When we walked across the courtyard with all the patio lights lit up, it felt like us. That this was where we were to celebrate our special day.
We left that night and went to get a drink at the Boro to discuss options. We sat down and within ten minutes, called Frank back to book our date - September 22, 2018.
Our wedding had 180 guests so we utilized the larger tent on top of the courtyard. It was plenty big enough and provided adequate space around the bars and in between tables. The dance floor was large enough!
Our theme ended up being Gastby-esque and PAH was the perfect venue to allow me to host that.
The day is complete whirlwind and Frank does all that he can to ensure you to do as little as possible on the day of. He wants you to get ready and enjoy the day. I couldn't be more thankful for him taking that stress from myself, sister (MOH) and mom.
One of the greatest features about PAH is the dozens of place you can get your pictures taken. Since the day goes so fast, you don't always get a chance to take everything because you are moving from spot to spot and people to people. Looking back at them, I appreciate even more the beauty of PAH.
I could probably write another chapter on how you won't be disappointed in choosing this venue.
Thank you, Frank and Barbara, for opening your home and property so that we could have, truly, the best day ever.
The Peter Allen House was exactly what we were looking for when planning our wedding ceremony and reception in Harrisburg, PA. Owners Frank and Barbara Pinto were extremely easy to work with throughout the entire process. In fact, they never said no to a single thing we requested and always had a smile on their faces! Their property is stunning and all of our guests kept mentioning how beautiful the grounds were. Frank worked with us on creating a new table set-up under the tent to accommodate our large wedding and the band. Additionally they were very helpful in assisting our other vendors throughout the day. We were lucky enough to have perfect weather during our wedding but Frank and the staff had already planned back-up locations in the event anything went wrong. Without a doubt, we would get married here again in a heartbeat!
The Peter Allen house was a beautiful venue that we loved so much. It gave us that wood/outdoor feeling that complimented us as a couple. The owners Frank and Barb are perfect for their jobs and do a great job running the place. It rained all day for my wedding day, but they made the transition from outdoor to under the tent very simple and it still turned out to be an incredible day for my husband and I. Loved every part of having my wedding here!
We had our wedding at the PAH the weekend of 10/7/17 and I feel like I gained two close family members in Frank and Barbara! They let my family and I come up all week to drop things off, and we often stayed late, talking and laughing with them. They were beyond accommodating, generous, thoughtful, personable and just all around wonderful people. They let me come to house as early as I wanted and took care of our belongings while the ceremony occurred off location. When the reception rolled around, I didn't have anything to worry about, Frank and Barbara were there, every step of the way. Frank even shared a dance with me which was really nice. Overall, the grounds and house are just stunning and so different. The lush greenery added the perfect backdrop of pictures and the new pavers put in for the patio added a great seating area for guests. I got a ton of compliments from family + friends on the venue ! I'm so glad we had our reception at the Peter Allen House, but I'm so glad we met Barbara and Frank Pinto, they are amazing people!
Frank and Barbara are the sweetest and so accommodating. Having our wedding at the Peter Allen House was the best choice we made for the venue. I'd go back in a heart beat for other parties and events we may have. Even to go take family pictures or what not
What a beautiful location for a wedding! Frank and Barbara were wonderful to interact with. They were quick to reply to any questions we had and we were able to visit the house as often as we wanted. The week leading up to our wedding there was a forecast for rain. Frank came up with an alternate solution and everything worked out perfectly! Our guests loved walking the grounds of The Peter Allen House and raved about how pretty it was. Barbara and Frank know what they are doing when it come to weddings, we were their 700th. We highly recommend The Peter Allen House for a wedding venue.
Very beautiful setting. Unfortunately $5,000 to rent & we were treated rudely & disrespectfully by owner Frank Pinto once he received his $. He was also disorganized, logistics were terrible for deliveries, no real bar area that would include refrigeration. Honeymoon suite had no hot water, broken jets in jacuzzi & had dirty bed sheets. Backway in was narrow & dangerous because road was eroding away.😩
We just had our wedding there and words can't describe how much we loved this venue and the owners. You can't go wrong with choosing this location. They will work to make your wedding your dream. The location is gorgeous with so many options for your ceremony. I would recommend this to anyone looking!
Words cannot possible describe how perfect our wedding day was at The Peter Allen House. From the moment we walked onto the property, we knew there was no where else that could so perfectly capture our wedding dreams. It is the perfect mix of backyard comfort and beauty, with meticulously maintained gardens and old world charm. Barbara and Frank are BEYOND amazing with their infinite wisdom and knowledge of all things wedding. They made our planning effortless and our day seamless. The grounds serve as a background for amazing pictures and our guests loved exploring the beautiful property as well as the truly historic house. My husband and I wish we could get married at The Peter Allen House every weekend and will truly never forget our best day ever!!
This venue is absolutely beautiful. Our guests had so many wonderful things to say about the property! But the owners are what make the place so special. My husband and I just got married in may at The Peter Allen house and our wedding was everything we could have hoped for! From the time we went to look at the venue until the actual wedding date, Frank&Barbara where so helpful every step of the way. I highly recommend this venue!!
The Peter Allen House is amazing. Beautiful venue, and the owners, Frank and Barb, are absolutely outstanding.
Most beautiful venue ever, most amazing owners ever. We cannot rave enough about how beautiful and perfect a venue this is. You get a gorgeous Victorian-style home with multiple bedrooms for getting ready in (men get a separate side/suite to keep the guys and girls apart) which is also air-conditioned. First floor dining room for dessert table and kitchen for coffee, gorgeous outdoor gazebo for the bar during cocktail hour, a tent for the reception (2 different sizes based on the size of your guest list) with a back-up tent in case of rain, 3 different locations to choose from for your ceremony, newly paved and white-light lit paver path, tons of lawn space... I could go on. One of the best features of this venue, however, is the owners, Frank and Barbara. They are wonderful, beautiful people who will get to know you by name early on and remember details about you. They call you and chat away, they'll engage with your guests during the wedding, they'll dress up and look wonderful and be present during the wedding, they'll call and make arrangements if you forget anything after the wedding. Most touchingly for us, when my husband's brother was murdered the night of our wedding, Frank and Barbara came to the funeral home visitation. Their presence and hugs were priceless. We will remember them forever.
I possibly can't say enough great things about this venue!! It was just beautiful! It's the type of venue that each bride can make it look unique in their own way, but still have the beautiful scenery, landscaping, and work with two of the most wonderful owners! I would not have changed one thing about it. We had 250 guests and not once did it feel overcrowded or confined to an area. The house is open for touring, the lawns are as green as can be (yard games/smores) and new beautiful pavers put down with tables and benches!! We loved it all!! I would recommend this venue to any bride and groom looking for the best night of their life!!
The Peter Allen House was a dream come true! It was the perfect location for our reception, with lush landscaping, beautiful stone buildings, and the house was stunning inside and out. We girls got ready in the upstairs bedroom, and then the reception was held in a tent connected to the porch of the house. Our guests loved it! The location with its gardens and many rooms provided much to explore and do for our guests. My fiance and I wanted a classy wedding, with lots of white and blush accents, and the Peter Allen matched our theme perfectly. Such an elegant location, great for anyone who wants to incorporate outdoors and flora into their reception.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about this venue and its owners, Frank and Barbara. We chose this venue because we wanted something unique, interesting, and more than a tented reception. We visited a number of lovely venues, but they were all very rigid ("wedding mills" as I dubbed them), and I knew our wedding would be exactly like the one before, from the placement of the aisle that I walked down to the food served to our guests. We wanted to break away from the mold and throw our own party. The Peter Allen House allowed us to do just that. During the initial tour, the owners were very clear that we were welcome to use the tent, the house, the grounds, AND the gazebo for all parts of our event. This made the event so unique and quite fun for our guests. We have various stations (such as a photo booth) set up in different areas, which encouraged our guests to explore the historic property instead of holing up in a tent. Everyone complimented us on this, and they really enjoyed looking through the historic (yet very well-preserved home) and taking pictures on the lovely grounds. Frank and Barbara encouraged us to customize the event to fit our personalities and were extremely responsive and kind throughout the entire process. I always had a blast with them whenever I visited the property in advance of our wedding. They really do love the place, you can rest assured they will have it looking FABULOUS on your wedding day. This venue just offers so much in terms of aesthetic--your pictures can range from old-school glamour (using the inside of the house and the Rolls Royce) to country/nature chic (using the exquisite grounds and pond). There is so much you can do, and Frank and Barbara are your biggest supporters. We used the caterer they are now partnered with (we hired them independently before the partnership) and could not have been more pleased. I tend to only expect wedding food to be so-so, but it was DELICIOUS. Our guests still rave about it weeks later.
The Peter Allen House is an excellent wedding venue. I live in Chicago and planning my wedding (ceremony and reception) at the Peter Allen House long distance, via email and phone calls could not have gone more smoothly. Barbara and Frank are so accommodating and are so passionate about their venue. They take amazing care of the property. The gardens, tent and mansion were so beautiful on our wedding day that our friends and family said it was like a wedding fairy tale.
Barbara and Frank Pinto were incredible to work with throughout my wedding planning process! They were so accommodating and helpful right up until the day of the wedding! The Peter Allen House was gorgeous, well-kept, and just what we were looking for. We were in the smaller tent connected to the house with our 150 guests, and they were able to accommodate all of them as well as had plenty of places to put our candy buffet, photo booth, and cake throughout the property. This venue was definitely a favorite of our guests...they loved walking the grounds while they were waiting for us to finish our pictures! I would definitely recommend this place for anyone who wants a beautiful venue for their wedding/reception!
The Peter Allen House had exactly what I wanted- a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony, cozy tented reception space and classy old house. Many of my guests have complimented the venue too saying it was "the most beautiful place they'd ever seen in the area." I found Frank and Barbara (the owners) very helpful as well.
The venue is probably the most beautiful place in the Harrisburg area to get married and hold a wedding reception but there are a few caveats. First, you are limited to 4.5 hours (contract says 5 hours but they subtract 30 minutes for arrival time for guests). If you want more than that (which you need if your ceremony is there as well) they charge $600 per extra hour. I was asked several times if I was really sure I wanted to extra time which makes me think the reason extra time is so expensive is because they don't want to stay and wait. I am very glad that we took the extra time but it was an rediculous expense we weren't figuring on. It does clearly state in the contract that this is the case however during our initial walk thru we were told the contract was just a legal document and that the time wasn't that strict but when it comes down to it, they were strict about start and stop times.
Also, they have attendants there for the bathrooms which is great however 1. they didn't tell us they would be there and 2. they watched us all night as if we were going to steal things or were causing a problem which was disconcerting. We finally had to ask one of them if there was a problem so they would stop staring at us and checking their watches (2 hours before the end of our event).
Overall, it was a very nice event and we received a lot of compliments but there are a lot of rules and you are held to every letter of the contract.
I kept in contact with Barbara and Frank throughout the months and they were extremely courteous and friendly with myself and fiance. As the time came they were nice about me visiting whenever i wanted. On the actual wedding day it's hard to consume what's going on. It rained and the tent was somewhat muddy by the head table. My sister and i rearranged the tables to our liking, since we were there very early while the caterer was setting up. We repositioned the head table so my dress and all the others were not in mud. Other than that, the wedding was nice despite all the mud and rain!! I do think for the price of the place they should invest in more landscaping ideas and upkeep the grounds a little better with more, but overall we were pleased. (it really didn't matter because we ended up having the ceremony under the small tent and using the big tent for main reception). It was hard though because i had to coordinate most things up until the wedding day and it would have been easier if i had someone on the wedding day who made coordinating the priority. Frank had a guy fixing things up and himself setting up, but it may not have been enough for a wedding. Those things you don't think about until you realize. It was hard to have all separate vendors arrive at one location and them have to figure who is doing what and where. If we would have had less people then the small tent would have worked and been less than $4000, but we needed the big tent because we wanted a dance floor so it ended up being about $6500, (which we got a good deal on tent and all rentals)or it would have been more. That is just for location which is more than i expected to pay.
I had my ceremony and reception at The Peter Allen House at the end of September, everything was wonderful! We were blessed with a beautiful day but the house owners were kind enough to work all morning on a back up plan just in case, since it had rained everyday up until my day. The setting is just perfect if your looking for an outdoor ceremony. The house and land are all decorated so beautifully I did not need to purchase any additional decorations for either the ceremony or reception. The house owners were extremly nice and you can tell they know what they are doing, it put me at ease knowing I was working with people who had been doing this for many many years. I also liked the fact we were able to come to the house to start getting ready as early as we wanted. The hair and makeup ladies were also allowed to come to us. So that made things very simple the day of. We were just able to go when we pleased and when we were all ready we just got to relax in the house without having to travel anywhere. I would highly recommend The Peter Allen House if you are looking for an outdoor non traditional setting.
For years I have driven by The Peter Allen House and have always wanted to have a wedding there. On September 16, 2011 my dream wedding came true. The historic nature of the house and the beautiful grounds gave us so much to work with when it came to hosting an outdoor wedding. Barara and Frank Pinto were so helpful when it came to setting up our ceremony area and helping us with the recepton layout in the tent. I LOVED the ride in the vintage Rolls Royce both to the ceremony and then after with my husband. We hosted a wine tasting and hors'devours reception. Not your typical reception by far, we cut corners on some of the typical reception festivities and Brabara and Frank made it work for us! They were easy to work with and so accomodating with what we wanted to use on the property. All of our guests were blown away by how beautiful an outdoor wedding could be.
Overall I would recommend the Peter Allen house for a wedding venue - having my wedding there worked out per had 220 guests and there was enough room for dancing/eating and 2 bars inside the tent!
Pros: Beautiful Setting, Many Different Natural Backdrops for Ceremony & Photos, Unique, room to make it your own
Cons: Music must stop by 10
I wanted a place for my wedding that was woodsy, not farm-y, and that had the reception and ceremony all in one place. The Peter Allen House is a beautiful historic home...but that is not the best part. The ceremony sites slope down to either a view of the valley or a spring with flowers (depending on which you choose), and the rolling lawns were perfect for my cocktail hour, with the bar in a stone gazebo. The tented reception was on a flagstone terrace next to the house, and was absolutely the perfect size for 108 guests (although can hold up to 140, I'm told). I got lucky and had 76 degrees and sunny, so that made it a beautiful day...and with the trees lighted up and the candles on the table under the tent, I can't imagine a more magical and beautiful wedding background for me and my husband ("husband"-fun!). The owners are a couple and are lovely--even driving my husband and me away from the ceremony in his Rolls Royce, just for the effect of a grand exit. I would recommend it to anyone that isn't scared of the possibility of changing plans due to rain. PS. Ask about the tent in the corner for a rain plan if you don't want to get married under the dinner tent if it rains!
We were married on site on the lawn to a historic mansion. Cocktails were served on the terrace and we dined and danced on an outdoor tent-covered portico adjacent to the home. The home was open for guests to roam through during the entire event. Picturesque views of the Pennsylvania countryside offered us amazing wedding pictures. We were able to bring in our own caterer which is where we saved a lot of money (in comparison to other venues).;We had to pay extra per hour beyond 5 hours our time table started 1/2 hour before our ceremony. We had to set up and tear down ceremony seating ourselves. Wish there were more room for more guests/dancing.
