Pete’s Sweets made us the most beautiful and delicious cake for our November 2017 wedding! We weren’t sure at first if we were going to go with a traditional wedding cake to serve for dessert, but we’re so glad we did! And to spice things up ...a little bit, we decided to go with more out-of-the-box flavors: pumpkin spice cake with cinnamon frosting! Cake tasting was one of the most fun elements of wedding planning that we got to experience (especially for the groom). Pete provided us with four unfrosted cupcakes in the flavors of our choosing and six cups of frosting in the flavors of our choosing to mix and match until we found the perfect combination. He even paired it with glasses of champagne! It was such a fun experience! We opted for a simple three-tiered cake with a rippling effect that Pete decorated with coordinating fresh flowers from our florist, and it was stunning! He made sure we were perfectly aware that the cinnamon frosting would be off-white, not pure white, and I thought it was perfectly fitting for our rustic, Fall wedding! We chose to not keep the top tier when we purchased the cake, but we ended up having enough cake to serve all our guests that we got to keep the top tier anyway, and I’m actually so glad it worked out that way because I can’t wait to have this cake again on our first anniversary! If we hadn’t lucked out, we were planning to go back to his bakery and get a small cake in the same flavors because we loved it so much! He is very professional and puts so much love into his creations. I can’t wait for another excuse to need a baker, because I’ll be going to Pete!
