We had a wedding with ~100 people at the Petroleum Club in February 2024. We worked primarily with Stephanie, who was very organized and accommodating. My wife and I would strongly endorse this venue to anyone considering. We were married in the Aramco Room, and held our reception in the Petroleum Room. We did not hold a formal cocktail hour, but we had passed apps, wine and champagne as guests entered before the ceremony. We and our vendors had use of the Vintage Room as a green room/hideaway.
We booked roughly 18 months in advance, and from the start, PCOH helped us plan our dream event. They were flexible with changing plans, helped answer our logistical questions before we had hired our wedding coordinator, and were transparent about pricing and options. We found the value to be extremely high. PCOH was competitively priced to many budget oriented venues, particularly since the natural elegance and floor to ceiling windows allowed us to save on florals and decor.
Additionally, the full service nature of the venue made things much easier logistically. The default options for place settings, chairs, tablecloths, and glassware all had a premium feel. The catering was extremely reasonable, and we heard so many compliments about the food, which we were not expecting as wedding food tends to taste like it has been prepared in bulk. I thought the appetizers we ordered and the dessert trio were especially delicious and our guests loved them.
We got great feedback on the bartenders and thought the wholesale pricing on liquors (based on consumption) was very fair. They served high quality liquors and didn't skimp on pours. Most importantly, they were polite and efficient and we noticed that there were not long lines or waits at the bar.
The entire staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Our guests told us how whenever they were looking for a passed app, or had to throw away a used napkin or skewer, a courteous staff member was right there. They clearly had a lot of experience catering to large events and we heard nothing but positive things about interactions with the staff.
The space was particularly well tailored to having an active dancefloor, which was our most important wishlist item. The room has a perfect bandshell shaped nook for a stage and band, and we felt like the acoustics were excellent and really enlarged the sound of our 6 piece band. I think it would have felt cramped with 8-9 pieces, but the design of the space helps make the sound so much more grand and on par with larger bands (which also helped us save money).
All of the little premium touches at this venue helped make a great experience for our guests. Little inconveniences we've had at other weddings, like waters not being refilled, or having a line for the bathroom, don't apply here. They think of everything.
Whatever PCOH said they would do, they delivered exactly as promised, with an eye for detail and true commitment to serving their guests. A glamorous downtown wedding was our vision from the start, but we would strongly encourage everyone getting married in Houston to tour the venue and consider this as a truly unique and first-rate option. I can't recommend them enough.
My husband and I had our wedding reception at PCOH this past July. Stacey was professional, friendly, responsive and a pleasure working with. It was great to have food, drinks, linens and lighting all in-house. The reception was beautiful and there were literally no issues. The food was devine and the venue/views were astonishing. The guests enjoyed the panoramic downtown views. One thing to note: PCOH does require a day-of-coordinator (En Vogue Events). En Vogue Events made planning and our day less stressful. We could not have had our reception at a better venue in Houston. We would highly recommend PCOH!
The Petroleum Club was the perfect venue for our wedding. It felt intimate and classic and our guests loved the downtown views. Stacey was so great to work with! She was prompt with email responses and provided us the guidance I was looking for when planning the reception layout.
Amazing experience at the PCOH! We had both our rehearsal dinner and our wedding there a couple of days ago and everything was absolutely incredible. The food was great, the servers were wonderfully friendly, and the staff went above and beyond to make the experience exceed our expectations. The view up there is also breathtaking! We definitely recommend! -Hugo and Paloma
Shawn and the entire staff at PCOH were fantastic! Shawn was so on top of everything. Every time I thought of a question or a concern, she had already considered and taken care of it. We had the best time at our wedding and never had to worry about a thing. The attention to detail and attentiveness of the staff was wonderful. The space is gorgeous and the food was awesome! We have received so many compliments from our guests.
The Petroleum Club went beyond our highest expectations for our large rehearsal dinner (120). The event planner, Dakota, and the catering/bar/wine manager/waitstaff /valet company/receptionist were helpful, friendly, courteous and made everything easy. They offered many useful suggestions, were accommodating of our schedules, set up tables perfectly, delivered appropriate food to those with special diets, coordinated details and timing for speeches and toasts. The new location/venue was beautiful with the chairs and linens they provided. The worked well with our florist. The food was delicious! We have entertained/been entertained in Houston for decades. This venue/event shined! The compliments from our guests just keep coming.
We were married at the Petroleum Club in November and I could not have been happier with our experience. From securing the date, signing the contract and planning all the details, Shawn was fabulous to work with. The venue is beautiful and the views are such a unique feature. I would highly recommend this venue!
We were married here in April and worked with Dakota. Everything was pretty seamless and easy, except that I was disappointed in our exit options. After signing our contract, I noticed all of the pictures from other weddings had the couple's "grand exit" in the hallway towards the elevators... I read the contract and it had the standard "no rice/sparklers/etc" so I assumed I could toss rose petals outside on the 1st floor. Not the case, I was later told I can't toss anything, per the building management - something I would've liked to know beforehand. I insisted on having our exit outside for us to walk up to our getaway car, so we ended up doing light-up balloons (which we had to secure weights to, to ensure they didn't float away - another restriction we encountered during planning). It still worked out well, but just would've liked someone to point out all of these restrictions during our tour of the venue. But otherwise, we were very happy with the process and our reception. We had a seated dinner, and actually scheduled a second tasting so we could see how our choices would actually be plated. The venue is beautiful and a good size for our ~200 guests. I didn't have any service issues as others have said - I thought they did a great job.
*Also note this venue requires you to hire a professional wedding coordinator. At first, I was a little annoyed to be required to pay for one, but it was probably the best decision I made. I hired EnVogue's Savanna Gray for the Day Of package... she did a great job, and I'd even recommend getting a more extensive package if its in your budget!
I am giving it a one only because the venue itself is beautiful. I would give it a zero for service.
I had my wedding at this venue in January and was very disappointed with the service. My husband and I met with Shawn (the woman who is in charge of organizing the events) and she seemed organized, I told her I was a vegetarian and asked that the family tables be closest to our sweetheart table. We also went over a timeline of the day and left feeling relieved.
So the wedding day comes around and its disaster after disaster.
1. i get a call from my day of coordinator saying Shawn is rushing us to arrive at the venue at 6, even though we had previously discussed 6.30. So we cut our wedding photos short only to find out we aren't needed and rushed off to a room where we are served cold food.
2. When we finally enter the main reception hall and sit at our sweetheart table for dinner, I am served chicken..... Even though i had previously explained I am a vegetarian. When my correct food finally arrives i don't have time to eat it before the speeches start.
3. Our starter salads came after the main dishes.
4. No one cleared our table and the groom had to get up and clear the table himself before the speeches started.
5. During the speeches I had to toast with a wine glass because none of the staff bothered to top up my champagne.
6. My family had to toast with water because no staff members gave them champagne.
7. When we got in contact with Shawn she simply said that it was our fault for the arrival time confusion even though I have emails confirming the 6.30 time schedule. She also tried to blame myself and family for not having champagne, stating that we must have been out of our seats so no one gave us champagne... Even though no one had left their seats since we arrived at the venue.
8. Both my husband and I's families table was pushed to the back and couldn't be seen from where i was sitting, something she assured me wouldn't happen.
Very disappointing , for the amount of money you pay you'd expect better service.
Be warned!
A picturesque view of the Houston skyline which fit perfectly with my Houston-themed wedding. Shawn was wonderful to work with and quick to reply. The food was WONDERFUL!
We did not even get to the planning stages of our wedding here. We did receive a response after our initial inquiry however, when it came time to secure the date and details we were completely ignored. After reaching out to several staff members via phone and e-mail, we still received no response. (Still have not to this day). Though we were thoroughly disappointed as the PCOH would have been a beautiful venue for a reception, we continued our search with other venues. The average response times for all other venues we contacted was around one business day. While I'm sure plenty of couples have had lovely weddings and experiences with the staff here, our personal encounter left much to be desired.
I recently got married at this venue and they went above and beyond our expectations. The food was amazing, the view was gorgeous, and the staff was beyond exceptional. I would highly recommend this venue!
I had my wedding here. Random comment - I hate when you have a drink and some one just takes it away, because they want to clean the table. The service was sooo good here that they asked me if I was finished with my drink before they cleaned it up. Also, the salad was not dressed, I asked them to do that and they were so quick about it. Just an amazing place. Views are also amazing and everyone said that they thought it was one of the best weddings they have been to.
Right after we got engaged, my husband and I were researching online for venues and we both separately found PCOH and loved it. We visited, fell in love, and were lucky enough to secure a December date as PCOH was otherwise booked through mid 2014!
Jeremie was so nice, friendly, and easy to work with! She definitely understood all the details and even our wedding planner commented that it is rare to come across someone who gets almost all the details correct on the first try! And we had a big wedding with a lot of vendors, so this was no easy task. Thanks, Jeremie, for helping make the planning process go so smoothly!
The actual wedding day was so perfect. We reserved the big ballroom, and our guests absolutely loved the venue! We got a lot of questions afterwards from our engaged friends who were interested in having their wedding here too. It truly is a very unique and beautiful venue...partying the night away atop the Houston skyline as your backdrop - what more could you ask for?!
The food was sooooo delicious. We got many comments from guests saying that it was the best wedding food they've ever had. We opted for the sit-down dinner with 3 courses, and it was so much food that many people had to take it home! The service was also impeccable. We also had two open bars on either side of the venue and got many rave reviews from guests who said that the bar service and offerings were top notch.
Overall, I could not imagine a more perfect place for our wedding. We are so glad that we were able to use PCOH before it moves locations soon! Many thanks to the PCOH staff for making our wedding absolutely perfect!
I recently had my wedding reception at The PCOH. It was beautiful. Our wedding was about 150 people therefore we booked the smaller room (Wildcatter Grill Room). The room does not look like much during the day, but at night it is beautiful. We received numerous complements about how pretty it was. It also has a special feel being so high up and getting to see all of downtown. I think the guests appreciated going to a wedding reception that was a little different than most.
I primarily worked with Cherie for the planning. She was very helpful all of the times I called and emailed. During the menu selection, she offered opinions and ideas when I asked. I appreciate that she was honest and also budget conscious.
Finally, the food was fantastic. In my opinion, banquet food is typically not very good but that is not true at the PCOH.
As I settle down after an amazing wedding day - I would like to thank the Petroleum Club and especially Jeremie Millwee ..
Our wedding reception was outstanding and thankfully well done by the PCOH team .. Chef Manuel and the culinary team did an awesome job with the food and all the set up requests have been welcomed by Jeremie and very well done/.
The Petroleum Club is by far the most chic, elegant and perfect location for any bride that is looking for the "once in a lifetime" wedding or any event.
Thank you PCOH for making our special day a spectacular one!
I could not be happier with our experience with the Petroleum Club. The facility was beautiful, the staff was attentive, and the event coordinator was attentive and professional. And the view!!! You just can't beat that.
The facility was very classic. We used the linens and dishes they offered, which were clean, simple and good quality. Our DJ company provided amber uplights for the columns between the windows, which was a good choice. It made the room feel warmer, particularly as it got dark outside. We served a combination fish and beef plate, which was delicious! The passed appetizers were great too, and very reasonably priced.
We've continuously gotten compliments on how attentive the servers were at the event. They were polite and brought my husband and I drinks and bites of food while we were standing around talking without us even having to ask!
The event coordinator, Jeremie, was great! She walked us through exactly what decisions we would need to make before the wedding, and had helpful suggestions for problems we were encountering. She helped the reception go smoothly without being intrusive.
The venue is absolutely gorgeous... The view is beyond amazing and the food is equally as great. It is such an elegant and amazing place to have a wedding. I am more than happy with our entire experience and I highly recommend it!
The Petroleum Club is beautiful, Jeremie - the coordinator is great to work with and is sooo nice! Our wedding is in Feb 2012. We just finished our food tasting. I'm very excited for the day to come and everyone is super accommodating to us. Makes it that much easier!
This venue was perfect for us, the food was delicious. They were very easy to work with and very organized. I was not worried about anything the day of the wedding because of the attention we received.
I am the mother of the bride who knew from the start that she wanted her reception at the Petroleum Club; a winter night reception, of sparkling city lights, candles and elegance. That is exactly what she got! Cherie was our event coordinator and we couldn't be more pleased with the results. The planning and communication was easy and excellent. The club's flexibility was comforting, when things got down to the wire. The service was supurb...we were treated like family, not clients. The set up was exactly how we wanted it and the reception was perfect! The staff is the best in Houston! If you are looking for an elegant venue, you can't do better. The downtown views at night are spectacular...it becomes part of your decor! The food was delicious....so many compliments from our guests about the food....and plenty of it! Everybody loved the dessert bar too. The bartenders and all of the waitstaff were wonderful! Excellent food, excellent service, beautiful venue...what more could you want?
Upon first glance at the outside of the Exxon-Mobil building, we were a little uncertain because it was a bit dated...but after taking the elevator ride to the top and stepping out into the beautiful and cozy lobby, we knew we had found our place. Jeremie was the sweetest venue coordinator and was so easy to work with. The room for both the ceremony and reception had amazing floor to ceiling window views of downtown and the city and gorgeous lighting for great photos. The food, ohmygoodness the food, was so delicious that I thought my corset would bust because I couldn't stop myself from stuffing my face despite the busy schedule. All of the staff from the servers to the captain to the valet drivers were so courteous and so friendly. The captain even personally introduced himself to us at the beginning of the evening to let us know that if we needed anything from our favorite drink to extending any hours, that he'd be happy to do so without any inconvenience. The facility was pristine and fabulous and breathtakingly beautiful. Compared to other Houston venues of this same caliber and ambiance, I also think Petroleum Club offers the best value. I highly recommend the Petroleum Club!
