I had my wedding here. We picked it because it was all included place . I fell in love with it right away . Everyone I talked to was nice n helpful. Doing tasting was hard at first but you get use to it . The day of the wedding we great . Food was great . it was wonderful
Working with Pi Banquet Hall was an enjoyable experience. I would say the biggest pro was the all-inclusiveness of their pricing. Whereas most places want to nickel and dime for you chair covers, sashes, upgrading the bar, etc., Pi has comprehensive packages that truly live up the their "affordable elegance" standard. The venue itself is very pretty and large. We had plenty of room for our 170 guests at my wedding. The food is tasty and the family style serving option was definitely a plus for me. No one went home hungry and people could choose what they wanted to eat without standing in long buffet lines or being limited to pre-plated options. They were very accommodating in opening both bars for me (for a small and reasonable fee).
Although we were thrilled with the day of set-up, I will say there were some issues with communication and the food tasting process. About 6 months before my wedding, the staff I had been working with no longer worked there, and there was an entirely new staff. Jill and Cheryl were very experienced and great with answering all of my questions, but it would have been nice to have been informed of this change with an introduction email or phone call to avoid the minor panic of my contacts no longer working there. Additionally, I would recommend emailing the staff rather than calling to have your questions answered more efficiently. Many of my vendors and myself tried calling and rarely received a return phone call.
In terms of the food tasting, it's a long process. The food is delicious (as mentioned), but instead of doing a formal sit down tasting, they require that you come during other events and get a take-out box. This was difficult for us because it was time-consuming and also the dishes we wanted to try didn't seem to be popular ones. However, they eventually accommodated our tasting requests, and we were thrilled with the outcome.
Overall, I would recommend booking a wedding reception at Pi Banquet Hall. They are organized, all-inclusive, and accommodating of requests and provide a quality product to their customers. Thank you for a wonderful wedding reception!
this venue is terrible. I had my wedding here on Jan 6th 2018. they broke every promise they made me. parking lot was icy and dangerous. bathrooms were dirty and ran out of toilet paper. coat check didn't open until after my ceremony and closed before my reception ended. I paid for the premium bar and was told having two bars open wouldn't be a problem when I signed my contract. day of my event they tell me I can only have one bar. bar opened late. bar ran out of bottled beer 20 minutes after it opened, had to go to store to get more. dinner was not what we paid for. we we're supposed to get salad, pasta, roast beef, chicken, mashed potatoes and green beans. they ran out of pasta and served some of my guests rice with pasta sauce. who does that? why wouldn't they just go get more pasta? when my sister tried to ask the manager about the pasta the manager actually cursed at her! so unprofessional. some of my guests received big chicken breasts or thighs, others only got a tiny wing or cut up mystery peices. we never got the green beans, instead they served half cooked half still frozen cauliflower broccoli carrot mix. I informed my contact the week before which tables had vegetarians. the servers had no clue were to take the vegetarian plates. my cake was not served. instead they only cut some of it and put it on a back table for self serve without letting anyone know it was there. the late night pizza was undercooked and disgusting.I cannot stress enough how badly every bride needs to shun this place. they are the absolute worst.
i think the only beauty was the building its self. i went into this banquet with my fiance and my son to plan a wedding and right before we left my son sat down and they had a glass coaster on the table that my son was playing with and right before I left the lady i met with yelled at my son about playing with it and that right there they lost my wedding. she came back over to me and apologized to me about yelling at my 4 year old and gave me the lame excuse that her mother side came out that i should excuse her... I WILL NOT RETURN THERE... I WOULD RATHER PAY FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE THEN STEP FOOT BACK THERE...
I booked my bridal shower back in mid 2016 with Donna for this April 2017. She was great to work with. Unfortunately, she is no longer there and the supprt from new management is terrible. Needless to say, I cancelled my shower within the contractual timeframe and Pi Management promised to mail my refund out immediately. Well its been over 4 weeks now. Sadly, this is one of the main reasons why i cancelled my event at Pi and it was because the lack of consistency and professionalism. No I would never recommend this venue.
Go to Burton Manor or Laurel Manor instead, the management teams are professional, dependable, all while providing excellent customer service.
We had our wedding reception here on May 14th. The reception itself was beautiful, and Pi did a great job of accommodating the DDR and Skee-ball machines that we rented for the night. The room was nicely set up exactly how we had planned it, and everyone said how great it looked. The food was amazing, we went with the family style dinner which everyone seemed to enjoy. The staff were timely in bringing out food and dinner started right on time. They even brought out already made plates for my husband and I for the main course so we didn't have to serve ourselves! What gets them a 3 star rating (and I would do 3 1/2 stars if it allowed) was how unorganized they seemed in the beginning. We started the process with Donna, who was very helpful in going through everything with us. Part way through, Jill came back and we got her caught up on everything we had discussed with Donna. About a month before the reception, we were informed that Donna would be the go-to person for the night of. We had to again catch Donna up on all of the last minute details. It didn't seem like they kept all of our decisions in one place, so no one really knew the big picture. Luckily we had our own wedding planner, who was able to make extra trips to Pi to make sure everyone was on the same page. Without her, I would give Pi a solid 3 star rating for their lack of organization. But again, the night of the reception went off without a hitch, and we've had nothing but compliments about Pi from all our guests!
We had a wonderful experience working with Pi Banquet Hall for our wedding reception. We appreciated their offer of affordable elegance and feel that is what we received. Jill and her staff were very upfront during our tour that we were only guaranteed 2 hours to set up any center pieces or extra decorations we may wish to have, while they handled the tables and linens. We understood that the hall being able to book an afternoon event and an evening event were what allowed us to receive such an affordable price compared to other area vendors. So, we planned accordingly when booking other vendors and developing a decoration plan. Jill met with me and my mom multiple times, as we probably more questions than there average client and had a more elaborate décor plan, till we felt like we had everything organized enough to ensure smooth sailing on the big day. Jill allowed my parents into part of the hall early, since that portion ended up not being booked, and we greatly appreciated Pi’s flexibility even though they were under no obligation to let us do so. Our reception was gorgeous! Pi provided everything we asked for and adapted quickly to meet the needs of our caricature artist when he was not satisfied with our planned set up. The food was amazing and greatly exceeded my expectations for the price point. They accommodated gluten free requests and remembered to pack me some of my gluten free layer of the wedding cake to take on the honeymoon. I would recommend planning well for the 2 hour decorating time line if you want extra décor and making sure you have taken outdoor pictures before you get to the hall as there is no garden area. I would highly recommend having your reception here.
I had really hoped we could go in a couple days ago and let PI know the issues we had with the place and maybe vent some frustration over what we felt was a bad couple of decisions and then leave. I do not think we would have bothered to even leave a review. After getting to speak with Jill and her informing us that all of the issues were our fault and that the people we had bringing in the cake and decorations who are family friends were all lying to us and all of the issues they had were also not PI's fault, I came to realize that maybe PI has a bigger issue then I thought when we started.
I hope people can take this to heart and know that a really meh or maybe even a somewhat bad experience can be solved by simply listening and maybe in the end saying you are sorry even if you are not totally sure what happened. It is funny how simple this could have been Jill but still the food was wonderful but the people running this seem very poor at what they do.
It is funny that some business try to threaten people with lawyers because a review is to harsh, just a painful place...
I would not recommend Pi Banquet hall as long as Jill is the event manager. She was unprofessional and rude during the latter stages of the planning process. She and her staff were also extremely unorganized, due to their mis-sight, our tasting was scheduled less than 30 days before our big day, at which time, we were informed that it would be an additional $5 per guest for beef. That kind of information should be given in advance so one has more time to prepare....My vendors were only allotted a two hour time window to setup prior to the event. As one can imagine, setting up for a 150 party wedding in two hours is not sufficient. Because of this, our reception started late with dinner served almost an hour late. Although Jill was horrible, the staff did the best they could under ineffective leadership. The food was great for especially the fried catfish. My husband and I still had a great time despite the challenges with Jill but I wouldn't recommend Pi because it's not worth the stress and heartache.
I had my bridal shower here. First and foremost, the food was fantastic. We had the Chicken Florentine, mixed vegetables, and cheddar and green onion mashed potatoes. When my maid of honor asked that they just not bring her the chicken, they came right back out with a plate of double vegetables and double potatoes. She was very happy about this. They were very accommodating to other guests with special food requests.
The decor is decent, but I did have an issue with the rope lighting. I believe that this could be nice if it were behind something, but being front and center brings the class of the place down a bit.
My biggest issue with the place is that it's IMPOSSIBLE to find. First, there is more than one Franklin Rd. Then, there's an abandoned building in front of it, and a bunch of trees around it. I think if there was a big sign, or if the dilapidated building was torn down, it would make it a lot easier to find. A lot of my guests were late because they couldn't find the place.
All in all, the venue is fantastic and I was very impressed with my shower.
Great place to have and event, Jill is awesome to work with and the was great. I have had two events there and in the process of planning a third.
We recently hosted our wedding at Pi, and had an amazing experience. Our experience started almost a year ago in our search for the perfect venue. We wanted to hold our ceremony and reception at the same location, and I wanted pricing that I would actually be able to budget off of. One of the things that drew us into Pi was their all-inclusive package pricing. So many other venues had hidden fees and percentages that were to be added on at the end, the pricing for Pi was very cut and dry and they had different options for different budgets. We were fortunate enough to have the Platinum Package, which included everything from our plated dinner and top-shelf bar to our color-coordinated linens and napkins, and even the taxes and gratuities. It was so easy to budget knowing exactly what we would be paying per person. Leading up to our big day, the communication I had with the manager of Pi was superb. I never waited longer than 24 hours for an email or phone response. All of my questions were answered, and I was confident going in that everything was going to turn out well. I was made to feel like my wedding was the only event she had on her radar. When my vendors had questions that I could not answer, the manager was able to respond to those as well, she really did an excellent job at putting my mind at ease. There were details that I hadn’t put any thought to that were taken care of by Pi as well (a gift table, a table for place cards, etc.). The day of our wedding, everything was perfect. Our ceremony was set up wonderfully. We had columns on either side of us, a gorgeous curtain as a backdrop, and our guests were seated comfortably to watch us say our “I do’s”. We immediately went into a receiving line from there, and while we greeted our guests, the ceremony area was transformed into a part of our reception area in under 20 minutes. Our reception area was absolutely stunning. We were able to pick our linens from a huge selection, and the colors were perfect. Pi even provides gorgeous up-lighting in multiple shades to make things even better. If there were any glitches in anything, I certainly was not aware of them. Even my florist commented on how beautiful everything was, and how helpful the Pi staff was. Our food was fabulous, the drinks were made very well, and were kept flowing, and the venue was very accommodating to our 200 person guest list. I really can’t say enough great things about them. I highly recommend Pi Banquet Hall to anyone looking for a fabulous banquet facility. If your experience is half as good as mine was, then you won’t be disappointed.
I have nothing but amazing things to say about Pi. We choose Pi for not only the value, but also because we were able to have our ceremony and reception at the same place. The inside of the hall is absolutely beautiful. I would recommend Pi to anyone that is looking for an affordable wedding venue that has everything you need in one spot (bonus: chair covers and sashes are included in the price!)
I have to say that the one big thing that my guests remembered from my wedding night was the food. Everyone RAVED about it! We already knew it was good because we went to the tasting but it was nice to hear our guests enjoyed it as well.
I would like to extend a special thank you to the owner Tony for putting up with all of my questions and for going out of his way to make our night unforgettable!
Pi Banquet Hall assisted in making our special day exceptionally wonderful! We had our wedding ceremony and reception there. Not only was it beautiful, the service was impeccable and the food was delicious! Our wedding was so wonderful my husband and myself are trying to find other events we could have at this venue. PI Banquet Hall allowed my husband and myself the opportunity to fully enjoy our day without worrying if everyone was doing what they were required to do. We did not have to worry, if the room set up on time, if it was enough food, if the food was hot or if our guest was having a great time. The staff was wonderful and months afterward people are still talking about how beautiful our wedding was and how the food was so good! I failed to mention, I am a customer service guru!
I'd found this place online because it fit my budget, was in a pretty good location and offered many great details in their package. My fiance, his father and his fiance and myself all attended the group food try out and we got to see the table set up and try many of the delicious foods that they offer. The day of the wedding, everything was set up beautifully, the bartender was very good and the food was even better than the trial. I absolutely loved this place and will have other events here in the future. Well worth the money spent!
Overall the banquet hall was accommodating, beautiful, and the food was delicious! The pork was tender and full of taste.
Pi is a great option for the practical-and-less-artsy couple. The venue is nice, with chandeliers and stuff, but there isn't a magical view outside or anything. We just wanted a large banquet hall that could hold our guests and take care of everything, which they did: tables, chairs, dishes, food, set up, and clean up. They made things easy for us!
While not the most luxurious venue to begin with it turned out great once decorated. For the price you cant beat it. The owner comes off somewhat abbrasive but his assistant was very sweet and reassuring that everything would be handled. The food was great and I loved the pink accent lights. The contract needed to be clearer. We thought we had the whole hall until we got a call saying unless we could gurantee more people he might rent it out. Not something a bride wants to hear a few weeks before the wedding! We just rented out the other side and everything was fine. Overall I would recommend it, just be clear about what you want up front.
Tony, the owner, is very accomodating and is very easy to work with. The whole facility is so so pretty inside and much nicer than most typical reception halls. It's a hidden gem, literally because it sits behind buildings so it is hard for your guests to find. I was originally looking for a venue in downtown detroit but their prices are outrageous. Pi was a perfect alternative. The food was great and the room looked gorgeous. My only problems were post wedding, I found out there were issues with set up and unprofessional arguing between Tony and vendors and when I went to pick up my decorations and items the next day, all 140 glass candle holders were thrown away by the staff. Luckily at the set up, I hired a DOC so she handled everything and I missed out on the extra stress. Overall, I was very happy with my choice!!!
Tony and his staff did an awesome job. the food was on top of the world. wonderful service.
The lighting in this venue is beautiful, and there is definitely enough room. They were also very accommodating, I was incredibly ill at our wedding and on a very strict diet and they worked with what I could eat and made it happen. Our only complaints were we asked for Miller Lite and they gave us Labatt, which is disgusting, and the woman that cut the cake was incredibly rude. I also found out six months later from the woman that did our flowers that they told us we could tell our vendors to be there at a specific time for decorating, and when she arrived, the place was locked and still a mess from the night before. She was able to help them get everything organized, but they pulled it all together just fine and I didn't notice at the wedding. Everyone raved about how great the food was, unfortunately I didn't get to try it. My husband and family LOVED it.
The food and service was FANTASTIC!!! We keep hearing about how good the food was and how nice the facility was; the only complaint is that it is hard to find - they need a big sign to help people find it!! Otherwise, we were VERY happy with Pi - great Value!!!
