Their food was so delicious, all of our guests raved about it all night. We were able to take a bunch home and we've been eating it ever since the wedding. They were communicative, professional and affordable. If you're having an event in their area, definitely check them out.
Awesome to work with and everyone loved the food at the welcome party for my son’s wedding in Harbor Springs. Made things so easy even though I was making the arrangements from NY.
We had a great experience with P.E.R. I was a little nervous when I saw some negative reviews about their customer service, but we have nothing but good things to say about their food and their staff!
We weren’t able to do a tasting (because of covid and not living in the area of the restaurant) but they were great at advising us on our menu. They also sent us information on any tasting events they had coming up.
We ordered the P.E.R. Chicken and the Lamb Shank for our dinners. The guests were amazed by these dinners and couldn’t believe how large the lamb shank was! The meat just fell off the bone on the lamb shank, the whipped potatoes were flavorful and the perfect texture, the carrots were cooked just right, the cornbread was amazing and huge, and the salad was impressive as well. We also had a late night snack of pulled pork sliders and chicken tacos. Again, these were a hit with our guests. A lot of them took the snacks to go and thanked us in the morning because they were able to heat them up at the hotel after a long day and a lot of wine.
The serving staff members were very polite and they served me and the groom our food first so we could eat quickly before taking more pictures.
Any questions?
Everything was AMAZING! Throughout the planning process, PER was so communicative and it made it so easy to plan while living 3 hours away!! Dinner was the best and our guests loved it all!! Thank you again!
We were amazed! We used these folks for our 50th anniversary and the food was not only plentiful but it was unique, tasty and loved by the kids and the adults! The mac n cheese is NOT just for kids! The salads were top notch as were the roasted potatoes! It was more than we originally wanted to spend but worth every cent!
We could not have made a better choice for wedding catering!! They were easy to work with, had a great variety of options for any budget, and the food was amazing!! We did a BBQ style buffet which was a hit with our guests! If you are looking to mix it up from the basic wedding food we highly recommend pigs eatin ribs!
The food was fantastic, the servers were nice and professional. they were prompt at responding to my emails.
Awesome food everyone loved it. Had to stay on top of them about time but they did everything I needed! Even stayed and cut the cake for me!
My wedding was scheduled for May 30th. I had Pigs Eatin’ Ribs scheduled as my caterer. I have tried to reach the manager there for two days with no call back or email response. We live over 3 hours away. A member of my household has tested positive for the coronavirus. We are quarantined and not able to travel. All of our other vendors canceled on us already. We are not able to reschedule as the hall and the church don’t have any of the same availability the rest of the summer. When calling the caterer they said that they are not able to give us our full $500 deposit back if we canceled. Due to the governors order we’re not even allowed to travel that far during this time. With the coronavirus going on I think that it really shows how little Pigs Eatin’ Ribs cares about their customers. They haven’t even ordered the food yet for our wedding. It is very selfish that they are not able to send out the refund when we are trying to use funds to make other arrangements. Especially during a time that so many of us are tight on money as many jobs have been lost such as my Fiancé’s. How awful that we are treated this way in such a rough time.
We used Pigs Eatin’ Ribs for our welcome BBQ for our wedding. They were a pleasure to work with – we picked out a menu based on their recommendations and we couldn’t have been happier. The food was delicious and we received so many compliments from our guests on the dinner. They arrived on time, had everything set up and tore everything down as promised. Can’t say enough about their tasty food – would highly recommend to anyone for any event!
I was a bit hestitant on selecting this caterer and was not at impressed by their communication skills through the booking process. The weeks before the wedding the communication improved. They showed up in an old van that didnt instill much confidence, but the food was great. I had many guests compliment on food and people were lining up for leftovers the next day (especially the risotto). The servers were friendly and did their job well, although I think there could be some efficiencies on the layout to get people through the line faster.
We had them cater our wedding and the food was so good! Our guests are still talking about how wonderful the food was!
They catered our meet in at Castle Farms and it was amazing!! Everything was hot and all our guests were very impressed.
We used Pigs Eatin’ Ribs as our wedding caterer for our Castle Farms wedding and we could not have been more happy with the service we received. We live out of state and we had to plan everything from afar. Pigs Eatin’ Ribs, specifically Heidi, was so great about communicating via email and phone! They were very accommodating when I made changes to the menu and asked for a few different quotes. Prior to the wedding, my fiancé and I made a trip to Michigan and we were able to go to Pigs Eatin’ Ribs and have a tasting for the wedding. During this tasting, we actually got to sit down with Adam, the owner, and it was really helpful. And as far as the actual food goes (the most important part), it was SO amazing! At the wedding, we received so many compliments from guests about how great the food was. Seriously, everyone loves BBQ! And not-for-nothing, my (now) husband and I live in Texas and if we say BBQ is good, it’s good! I would highly recommend Pigs Eatin’ Ribs for your wedding.
The food for our big day was a concern of course. Pigs Eatin' Ribs delivered in spades! The display was gorgeous, portions more than enough, and THE FOOD! My guests are STILL talking about it - special shout out to the brisket, mac-n-cheese, and the corn bread.
We used Pigs Eat’n Ribs for our rehearsal dinner. However we did not use their catering service because it ends up being about 2.5x more for the same amount of food. We opted to just order 4 “Big Pigs” and send some one to pick it up, which was far cheaper! But they did not give use the complete order, they called us and to their credit delivered what they had thought they missed. After setting all the food up for the dinner I noticed that the order still was not complete and again to their credit after I called they made a second order delivering the rest of the order. Most of the food was amazing, like the beef brisket, and pulled pork. Some of the food according to some of the guests was mediocre specifically the pulled chicken and baked beans. All in all the rehearsal dinner was well received but it wasn’t perfect.
Would NOT trust this place for catering. Was planning to use them as a caterer for our wedding and decided not to after our experience. Just read their other negative reviews, it shows a consistent theme. Went to their location for a food tasting and was seriously disappointed. Upon arrival, we did not get to taste all of the food on our list. Never once were we told that these items would not be provided at the tasting, even though they knew ahead of time we couldn’t taste a majority of the items. More than half of the items we came to taste were not served. We drove over 3 hours to this location, this was a serious disappointment. To top it all off, we were told AFTER WE TASTED THE FOOD that itt would cost $100...... for 4 sides and two servings of meat. The only reason we paid was because we were told this would be deducted from our invoice if we chose them and we felt pressured that we had to pay. Then 4 weeks later we finally get a contract and see multiple fees that were never mentioned. We asked for a refund based on the lack of transparency, and shady way in which we were asked to pay for the tasting. We asked three times with no response whether a refund would be processed or not. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY! Food we tried was pretty good though, just wish they cared more about their customers and did business in an honest way.
I am still getting compliments about the food we served at our wedding! Pigs Eatin Ribs is hands down some of the best food around!
Food was fantastic! We got tons of compliments, everyone was super nice and professional!! 10/10 for sure!
AMAZING food. The guests loved it all and the owners were so great, courteous, and wonderful to work with. They even let me create custom options, like a mashed potato bar. I would recommend to anyone :)
Pigs Eatin' Ribs catered our outdoor wedding in Bellaire, MI in July 2017. We were really excited to have them cater our wedding they had good reviews and did a good job communicating with us before the wedding. However, we ended up being really disappointed in their service for our wedding. There were several things that we had agreed upon with Matt, including explicitly stated in our contract, that did not happen as agreed upon:
• Platters and Servingware: They didn’t come with servingware for a family style dinner, it was in the contract, and asked the grooms mom for it an hour before the wedding. Salads were supposed to be individually plated instead they used platters which led to a shortage for the main course.
• Speed of Service: Serivce was really slow over, over an hour for the parents of the bride/groom to get served (partially because of the platter issues) and with no organization (some tables got seconds before others got firsts).
• Food Quality: The food overall tasted good (pulled pork, chicken, mac n cheese, and veggies) but was mostly served cold and pears on the salad were brown.
• Food Quantity: We ran out of food before everyone had eaten and this is considering we paid the upcharge for a family style meal. This was in part due to the disorganization of serving and in part due to just being short.
• Details: Didn’t do the agreed upon napkin fold, didn’t move the truck out of picture view when asked.
They were the most expensive part of our wedding and the only part that we had anything negative to say about. There were just so many things that didn’t go well. We brought up these issues with the organization after our wedding they didn’t acknowledge our concerns and told us management would follow up with us, that never happened. A word of caution if considering Pigs Eatin Ribs for an outdoor wedding.

We used Pigs Eatin' Ribs for our wedding reception in downtown Traverse City this August, and they were absolutely fantastic. Without exception, all of our guests raved about the food, and the food truck was the cherry on top of the low-key, fun vibe that we were going for with our reception. I was incredibly impressed with their timing, as well, as they were able to whip through a table of 8 people in less than 5 minutes. My one piece of feedback would be that they work on timely communication; it often took several days to hear back from them by phone or email earlier on in planning. However, the week before the wedding they were very good about communicating with me, answering questions, etc. Thank you so much for contributing to making our wedding amazing!
We got married in Charlevoix on 10/8/16 at Caste Farms. Pigs Eatin' Ribs were very helpful in the days leading up to our wedding with different questions we had, and we were really happy with the food and service on the day of our wedding (including bartenders). They were also prompt and on time!
We had Pigs Eatin Ribs cater our wedding on 9/17/16. Overall we had an awesome experience and we would definitely use them again. Our guests commented on how delicious the brisket and chicken was and everyone was very happy. There are only a few things I would change, and they are just communication items. 1) We wanted two buffet lines and only got 1, we managed! 2) The servers need to be able to communicate dietary restrictions to guests. As someone who is gluten-free, I need to know what is or is not GF. As the very first person in line, I was surprised not one server knew the answer to my question about what I could, or could not eat. 3) The beans were not totally cooked! These are all very minor things, and very easy things to change, overall our experience was great and our guests enjoyed the late night fun a ton too! Thanks PER we appreciate your help.
Can't say enough about how amazing the food was. Staff was helpful and very pleasant and my guest raved about the best BBQ they'd ever had. All of the meat, sides and desserts were cooked perfectly. Little tough to communicate at times because they are so popular but rest easy they will take great care of you and you won't be disappointed!
We used Pigs Eatin' Ribs for our daughter's lake side wedding. We met with Adam the owner a year before the event and tasted food and discussed the menu. Over the next year, we fine tuned things and settled on the menu, appetizers, servers, etc. The food truck showed up on time with everything we needed. The servers even were kind enough to insert the silverware into our custom printed bags/sleeves at each place setting. The food was delicious and plentiful! All our guests commented on it being the best wedding food they'd ever had. The 2 servers (for 90 people) were great keeping water & drink dispensers full and clearing plates. They served the pies (instead of cake) for us and the event was seamless!
The only negative was that when we originally met with Adam, he verbally quoted us "about $20-22 a plate" for the meal. In the end it was $33 per plate. When planning, just be sure to ask about any and all extras (dessert forks, napkins, water service, fuel charges, gratuity included etc).
We used Pigs Eatin' Ribs to cater our wedding welcome/rehearsal dinner at Depot Beach Pavilion. They brought the food truck to us and served up an absolutely delicious spread! People told us they liked the novelty of the food truck and we had numerous people tell us how much they enjoyed the food! The service was fast and friendly as well.
Booking the vendor went smoothly. They clearly answered any questions we had in a timely manner (few days at the most). They were pretty laid back and easily accommodated our requests for vegetarian meals, etc. They have done this enough that nothing seems to phase them! When we did the tasting, even the vegetarian option (black bean tacos) was incredibly tasty! The die hard meat-eaters in the group even noted they enjoyed it!
I had originally thought the name and type of food were a little too casual and plain for a wedding, but I'm so glad we looked into them further! The food is top notch and delicious! We will be making a pit stop there any time we are up that way! If you are in the area (regardless of whether you are looking for a caterer), do yourself a favor and stop by!!
It has been 6 months since our wedding and I still have friends and families raving about the food from Pigs Eatin' Ribs. We had a bit of trouble setting up a tasting prior to the day but I wouldn't change anything because the quality of the food and professionalism of the staff during dinner, trumps any prior issues. Adam and his team are very talented. I highly recommend them.
I really want to give these guys 4 stars, but at the end of the day, I have to settle on 3.
When we started the tastings, we were so excited. Chef Adam was very open to helping us find the right menu, was very relaxed and was exactly what we were hoping to find in a caterer. At the end of the day, we went with Pigs Eatin' Ribs over another more standard company because we felt that he would work with us more and make sure that the experience was what we were looking for and more personal.
While things started off great, it got messy from there. We were handed off to his wife, then to additional help that was hired. I absolutely understand that they are going through some growing pains right now, but at the end of the day, it ended up causing a lot of stress leading up to the day of the wedding. We were charged extra for items that we were originally told would not increase cost, had to clarify on our invoice a few costs that shouldn't have been there, and because I didn't want to go back and forth anymore, ended up not disputing a fuel surcharge that I was originally told wouldn't be included. This is of course all part of the planning process. They have a lot of room to improve the overall experience to make it easier for everyone and make sure that what is originally promised is delivered!
The actual food was pretty good. We didn't get any of the appetizers as they were gone by the time we were done taking pictures (a good sign), but dinner was pretty good. The salad was DELICIOUS, the grilled vegetables were very good. The risotto that we ordered lacked salt and flavor. The meat was great and the sauces were also good. There were a few leftovers the next day and we devoured them - they were great!
Service could have been a bit friendlier in the buffet line, but the bartender was VERY kind! She was great to all of our guests and hung in there despite another bartender canceling last minute, leaving her to tend bar alone!
Overall, if you can get everything in writing from the start, I think that will really help ease the process and make it much smoother. They are a wonderful family run business that just needs to work to scale up a bit and they would easily get 4 stars!
Was so excited about using this food truck for our rehearsal dinner. Booked them several months in advance and had several discussions about which food truck would be used etc. A fuel surcharge of $150 was included which seemed reasonable for the food truck, grill trailer, and server vehicle. The day of the event the server pulled up in a Saturn Vue with precooked ribs, slimy chicken and the other items on our menu with sterno and racks. No food truck, no freshly grilled meats. The food was mediocre and not enough for our group! Our guests ate, but we did not. We had a half pan of beans leftover and that's it. So disappointed as we talked up this company to all of our guests before the event. Embarrassing to say the least. We called and left a message with the the owners wife about our displeasure. No return phone call. The only response was our check being cashed first thing in the morning after the holiday weekend.
I really wanted to like Pigs Eatin' Ribs, which unfortunately made me dismiss a couple of red flags leading up to the wedding, but based on my rating it's pretty clear I was unhappy with this company. If you choose to use them, you should be aware of the following things.
1. You will have to handhold management throughout the entire process. Our emails would often not be responded to, and there was a very clear lack of communication between the different people managing the email account.
2. Seriously though - you need to handhold them. During our food tasting with the owner several months before the wedding, we let him know we would like to add appetizers to the menu. The next day we exchanged a couple emails to discuss pricing and then we let him know we wanted to add a cheese platter and a fruit platter to our contract. A week before the wedding we sent an email to confirm some items including the apps, and we received a bill which included them. Come the day of the wedding, they claim they didn't know appetizers were part of our menu. Their last-minute fix was to put enough fruit and cheese for about 10 people on two disposable metal baking trays. Seriously, at a wedding?! It looked tacky and it was honestly just embarrassing. Our request for a full refund on what we paid for the appetizers ($400) was denied and we were charged $100 for them.
4. Don't trust what's in the contract. There were multiple items that I questioned and the response was that it was a generic contract and the things I brought up didn't apply to food truck caterings, which I don't really buy since there were other items in the contract that were specific to food truck catering.
5. Don't expect any service for food truck events beyond someone handing guests their food. There was only one server for our 80 guests, so the server never left the truck until after everyone had been through the line. Even though the contract stated the server was supposed to clear the baskets, there was a sign at the truck telling the guests to bring their trays back to the truck.
6. We heard after the fact that the ribs were mediocre at best, which was surprising since we're talking about a barbecue caterer, and one with 'ribs' in the name at that.
7. Pigs Eatin' Ribs has both a food truck and a food trailer - you aren't guaranteed to get the truck for food truck catering events. We got the food trailer and it was not nearly as nice as we were expecting.
OMG! I wasn't sure what to expect as I live 2000 miles away and was unable to taste the food! That being said. This was the best decision I made for the wedding! The food was fabulous! Everyone was raving about it! MANY people went back for seconds! They have a mango Habanero BBQ sauce that is out of this world!! The price per person was also very reasonable! The 2 servers working were phenomenal! They even cut my cake to serve to guests! I can't say enough good things about this company! Hire them and you will NOT be disappointed!
We used the Pigs Eatin' Ribs catering truck for our rehearsal dinner and it was PERFECT. The food was AMAZING and they brought the truck right to the house we'd rented with our wedding party. Their staff were super friendly and easy to work with. I would absolutely recommend using them. I'm hungry now just thinking about it!
The food was delicious; however, it was nearly impossible to get in touch with Adam. I believe we were finally able to set up a tasting after 4 months of trying. We then heard from our guests that many of the food options ran out - some even half way through.
I used Pigs Eatin' Ribs' food truck for our wedding reception. Both Adam and Jill were so nice and accommodated our dietary requests. The food truck idea for a wedding reception was so easy too! They came, they served, and they cleaned up. Everyone loved the idea and especially the food! Thank you for making our day special!
We used Pig Eatin' Ribs to cater our rehearsal dinner and our wedding reception. The food was amazing! The service was amazing! Adam was super accommodating to all of my request and was a pleasure to work with. I was planning a long distance wedding and he made the planning easy and stress free. For our rehearsal dinner we used the food truck option and our guest loved it! It was fun, unique and nothing short than the best food they could find in Charlevoix, Michigan. Every single one of our guest loved the food from Pig Eatin' Ribs and the service could not have been better. Thank you Adam and Jill for your fantastic service!
We had brinner at our wedding, breakfast for dinner! Pigs Eatin' Ribs makes the most amazing breakfast food I have had in my life. I've been dreaming about their quiche since I first tried it, and I'm pretty sure I'll never have one that good again. Everyone raved about how incredible the dinner was, we didn't hear one bad thing about it.
Adam and his team did a fantastic job with the food! All my guests raved about how fantastic it was. If you're looking for a laid back, bbq style caterer - Pigs Eatin' Ribs is the way to go!
