About this vendor
Polen Farm, a beautiful and historic 19th century farmhouse and barn situated on 15 picturesque acres at 5099 Bigger Road, is a favorite with area residents for weddings. The Polen Farm house includes a roomy living room, dining room, sun porch, and banquet room. A seasonal tent covers a large patio providing the flexibility of an indoor or outdoor event. The Barn features a small service kitchen, will accommodate up to 125 people and is usable year-round. The upper level is roomy enough for as many as 175. A brick path leads from the patio outside the Banquet Room to the Gazebo, a lovely structure so popular for outdoor weddings that it was selected for use in the Polen Farm logo.

Polen was the first venue we looked at! After scouring for weeks, we ended up right back where we started and I am so glad that we did. The property has this perfect balance of rustic and "classy" that lent to both myself and my husband. You have use of the entire property for a custom amount of time, which is incredibly helpful. The staff is so kind, attentive, and easy to work with. Despite having to go to our rain plan, they handled everything without us having to think twice. I cannot imagine my wedding anywhere else.
We were married June 9th and absolutely loved Polen Farm. Our wedding was a dream. It was very affordable and we rented the full property. It was picturesque and the recent rains made it green and the flowers were beautiful. The property is very well maintained! Beth and Debra were always very helpful! The layout we decided on was executed perfectly and I didn’t have any problems on site at all. Fortunately, it did not rain for our event and it was only 80 degrees and an overcast day. The barn was amazing! It will get warm in there with all of the dancing and fun having, but we knew that. There were fans in the barn that definitely helped, but be prepared to sweat it out! Brides, I would highly recommend buying an adorable summer outfit or reception dress to put on after formal stuff that is not as stiff or layered as a wedding dress. Right around 9pm and a few cocktails and 10 dances later, I wish I had made that decision. There were many romantic places for photo ops and we got compliments on the property from nearly every guest. Helpful tip: Friday and Sunday weddings are 20 percent cheaper at Polen Farm, as well!
From the start, Polen Farm was great to work with. Beth acts more like an event planner than merely a sales person/vendor. There are quite a few rules that you need to be aware of since it is Kettering City property, but overall, it is inexpensive for the quality and I would recommend to every bride!
This venue was absolutely fantastic! The grounds are very well kept and the colors in the landscaping are beautiful! There is an entire house to get ready and take photos in. There is a gazebo that I had my ceremony at, and it was the perfect size and scenery for the ceremony. There is a barn that already has beautiful lighting and the staff will work with you on the floor plan you want and set it up for you. The staff here was remarkable and very communicative and helpful.
Polen Farm is absolutely gorgeous and the perfect venue for our wedding ceremony and reception. The ladies were quick to return phone calls leading up to the wedding and were present during our entire event. They allowed my father to bring his golf cart to drive around a couple elderly family members. He was able to drive them all over the facility which made the day much easier. The only negative was how warm the barn was but I don't think anyone thought it would be 87 degrees in mid September!! Would absolutely recommend for anyone looking for a barn wedding venue
The location is very lovely. The weather was pretty perfect for us. I really liked that they had backup options in case it started to rain. Thank goodness we didn't need to use them! The staff was all very nice but it can be hard to get ahold of them since they have awkward hours. They did not do much communication wise so you have to be sure to remember when you need to communicate with them. They also have pretty strict rules for decorating so we didn't really get to decorate the barn much. The actual barn is very pretty though so not too much is needed. Overall the price was pretty good and the location was beautiful.
Beautiful venue and grounds. Not a blade of grass or tree branch outta place...however and most unfortunate, they are not at all handicapped and disabled friendly. In fact, completely ADA NON-compliant. We had a very challenging experience assisting our decorated DAV father to witness his grandson's wedding.
Great price for the last minute bookings. The venue was great and the staff was friendly. The biggest downside was they were often hard to get ahold of.
Beautiful wedding venue!
Pre-Wedding:: My wife and I met with Polen Farm (PF) two times prior to the wedding and emailed them multiple times for planning questions. They were always prompt and thorough in their responses. PF has a pretty strict set of rules to follow, but if you follow them you will not have any problems. I would suggest a split booking so you can decorate the barn in the morning (not much needs done to the barn though).
Wedding/Reception:: Throughout the day, a PF representative was there to aid in any way they could. My point person that was in charge of doing little tasks throughout the day interacted with the PF representative and stated they were very helpful in assisting with different tasks.
This venue was a perfect fit for my wife and I on our wedding day.
From my first consultation with them I had such a pleasant experience! The ladies were so helpful. There were a couple of times where I needed to change times and table arrangements and I always received the same answer: no problem! They definitely made the whole wedding process so easy!
Polen was the second venue we visited, the moment we pulled into the drive I said this is it! I hadn't felt that way since I saw my ring, Polen is affordable and beautiful! Very convenient having ceremony and reception at same site. I married on a Weekday, Monday, Memorial Day which gave us more time (8hrs vs 6.5) and saved us $1000! I hold a special place in my heart for Polen. The city did lose one of my checks and I had to put a stop on it, and at times Beth seemed unfriendly or uninterested but overall I still give them 5/5. The barn was warm that day, but the 2 fans helped. This was my fairytale wedding for outdoors!
Polen Farm is a beautiful location for a wedding. I got married on August 30th there and the facilities were great. The staff set up everything ahead of time and had a point person that day.
We had our ceremony at the gazebo by the house and our reception in the barn. While it was a very hot and muggy day (84 degrees and rained later), the large trees provided shade and the barn had large fans available. Everything was clean and the property was well manicured.
The only complaints I have are the staff are not very easy to get a hold of. There hours are only 9:30-2:00, Monday through Friday, so you have to call/meet with them during normal business hours. I would call and leave messages either on the machine, or with a staff member and it would take a long time to get a response (a couple of days if I did not call back and ask again). I emailed them a month before the wedding about finalizing the setup for the barn, and did not get any response until I called them less than 2 weeks before our event.
If I had been a bride that pestered them a lot, then I can understand not wanting to respond, but that was 1 of 4 interactions with them before our wedding day (first visit [meeting, 18 months before wedding], signing the contract [2nd meeting, 17 months before wedding], updating the contract [3rd meeting, 6 months before wedding], and sending the barn layout in an email/calling them about email [4th meeting, 1 month/2 weeks before wedding]).
If you go in knowing that, I think it would help with the frustration. I wish they would have been upfront about that and then I would have been less stressed out that close to the wedding.
Everything went great. We had someone to help get things set up and moving along. The place was beautiful and having the house to change into the wedding attire was perfect.
I was very pleased with Polen farm the only thing I was displeased with was RIGHT after the ceremony they forced us to clean out the bridal room so i had to have family friends do it for us since the bridal party was doing pictures.
Deb was running our event and she was absolutely wonderful. It ended up raining 30 minutes before the wedding and the rain plan was executed perfectly. They keep the gardens looking so beautiful and the location is so unique but it was absolutely perfect and turned out so beautifully. When you think "barn wedding" you think hooky or ugly but the barn was so transformed and the entire evening was elegant, romantic, and perfect.
Polen farm is absolutely beautiful in the spring. I knew as soon as my husband proposed that was where we were going to get married. I ran into a few issues along the way. I had arranged everything myself, and pole farm was very reluctant to help with scheduling. I was told that if anything was delivered before my event day that it had to be stored in the storage barn an I was responsible for getting it to the main barn and back on my event date. They provided staff for my day but the only thing staff did was socialize with other vendors.
Polen farm was also reluctant to help with time constrains.
Polen farm in October was beautiful, with all the leaves turning autumn colors. We had a staff member on site during the wedding who helped us keep things running smoothly. The barn itself is beautiful and doesn't require much decoration, plus they set up all the tables and chairs for you.
Communication was pretty good, not amazing. My only real complaint was that they charge you for every minute you're there. We thought an hour and a half the morning of the wedding would be enough to decorate, but looking back we needed more time. It would have been a lot less stressful if we had just been allowed to decorate at our own pace.
All in all, I would recommend the venue to anyone looking for a beautiful venue at a pretty good value. It looked amazing in pictures.
My wedding day was absolutely perfect. The service we received at Polen was outstanding. The crew wanted to make sure that we had everything we needed to make our day special and easier! Also, the grounds were beautiful. All my guest told me what a beautiful venue we picked! Everyone loved it! I would definitely recommend future brides to go checkout Polen Farms for their big day.
This place was absolutely amazing. We did have to book a year in advance but it was worth it. We got married in the fall and the leaves were such beautiful colors! The person was there right on time and had everything unlocked for us. It was clean and beautiful! It was under 500 dollars and that was for four hours.
Beth, the venues event coordinator, was great to work with. She was very helpful, kind, honest and patient with me, which is all i could have asked for. Venue in general is gorgeous and a great setting for any laid back, sentimental wedding. I had a lot of people comment that they loved the venue for these reason, the wedding was laid back and people felt more welcome and sort of a "homie" feeling". Great place for wedding pictures as well!! The farm house was great for getting ready in and i love the spiral stair cases, the gazeboo is a gorgeous atmosphere to have for a ceremony, and the barn is fabulous!! it's all natural wood upstairs, and just a great set up. The upstairs is where the party is and it has a downstairs where people can go to chill and talk. Over all loves this place, and i'm a country city girl so it was perfect for me!!!!
The location is great and easy to find for guests. Not to mention the gorgeous grounds for a simple and chic wedding. However, the tenant that was assigned to work my wedding left much to be desired. I wish the first coordinator was able to do my whole wedding.
I enjoyed working with Beth Brubaker at Polen Farm. She is a real straight shooter and will let you know exactly what the deal is! Love that! The grounds at Polen Farm are beautifully landscaped and perfect for either a refined wedding or a fun family get together! The open space was perfect for all the little kiddies in attendance at our wedding to run around and blow off some steam. Jim who checked us out at the end of the evening was also a pleasure to work with!
They were very helpful in the process and Our orginal wedding venue closed 3 months to our wedding date and they had a cancelation on the day we needed. They helped us with ideas on layout and showed pictures. Great to work with!! Easy to pay and got our deposit back quickly.
We fell in love with this place from the first moment we viewed it, and our wedding was everything we could have imagined.
The setting was ideal for a wedding and reception. The area was well-maintained and beautiful. It was "wedding ready" when we arrived and the Polen rep. immediately introduced herself in case we needed to speak with her. The house provided just what was needed for the bridal party to get ready, the settings were ideal for the photographer to get fun and innovative pictures. The patio outside the barn provided a lovely place for a cocktail party while the wedding party completed their pictures. The upstairs of the barn looked festive with lighted lanterns on the rafters and tea lights on the tables. (Battery powered)
With 130 guests we weren't crowded and were able to leave the entire center in front of the big doors open for a dance floor. Polen Farm had everything set up in advance and ready for the caterers and wedding planner to arrive and turn it into our "magic kingdom".
I would choose Polen Farm again for any event because of their planning guidance, attention to detail, patience with myriads of additional questions, and day of the event support.
The first time my husband and I went to Polen Farm we knew this is where we were getting married! We were married outside at the gazebo and used the barn for the reception. It was amazing and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone. The only problem is that it books up really quickly and there is one day you can book. Other than that I wouldn't have changed a thing!
Polen Farm was so pretty! We had a ceremony only in the gazebo. It was nice to have the house to get ready in and a back up plan in case it rained. I had to switch my date once and the lady was very nice and helpful and didn't give me a hard time about it. The landscaping, house and gazebo made for beautiful back drops! I would recommend getting married here.
We were married in the gazebo and had our reception in the barn. Both are gorgeous! As are the house, which we were able to use to get dressed. It's a picture perfect setting and thankfully the weather held! There is a tent on site that can be used as a back-up in case of inclement weather but it's an additional $200 to have chairs set up. The bad thing is you have to pay the $200 up front, not on the day of in case of rain and you don't get it back if the weather is nice. You also can't get into the venue early to decorate unless you pay for the hours. Luckily I had someone to decorate the barn (which really didn't need much since it's all gorgeous wood beams and already has fairy lights on the rafters) while the wedding party was getting ready. The staff at Polen are very efficient and helpful! They made sure we had all the tables, chairs, etc that we needed set up and ready for us when our time started. The only other negative is that they have a list of "preferred" caterers and only 2 of the 6 of those can serve food warm in the barn because of the rules about using open flame in the historic property. Overall we really enjoyed being at Polen Farm for our wedding day and our photos, which were shot all over the property, are gorgeous!
We had our wedding at the gazebo, our cocktail hour on the patio in front of the barn, and our reception in the upper part of the barn. It was a gorgeous Spring day, and Polen Farm looked at its best! It is risky to take the chance of it raining, but the great thing is that Polen Farm has a back-up rain plan ($200 extra if you choose to go with this; you must tell them by noon the day prior to your wedding if you want the rain plan set-up). Luckily we didn't need to do this! Beth Brubaker (the coordinator) is awesome--very efficient at getting back to emails/phone messages, and very organized. One thing to note about this venue is that they are very strict with their rental time blocks. If you are booking the site starting at 3, for example, you CANNOT get into the buildings until 3:00. You can split your rental time if you want-- and book an hour or so in the morning to do decorating, if you want, which is one way to get around this. There is a bridal suite and a grooms' room where you can get dressed on-site--even if you don't rent the entire facility or House, you can use this room, which is great! I loved our wedding venue and would highly recommend it to others.
From the very first phone conversation I knew I would love Polen Farm. The people were friendly, flexible and helpful. This quaintly beautiful, restored farmhouse grounds and barn is able to hold a fairly large amount of people - I had around 150 - for the wedding ceremony AND reception (which was a real winner for me!). The only negative is that they book events back to back and so it is almost impossible to have your rehearsal at the actual site the night before, and they only give you 6.5 hours for the initial rental (so extra hours cost), but it was worth it and on our extremely tight budget it worked out fine. Essentially it was just what I had always pictured and was an all around pleasant experience.
