Unfortunately Pretty Up by Tricia Gallucci is a company I would NOT recommend. I wouldn't even have given 1 star if it weren't for the review not saving. Tricia has given me the run around regarding a refund she owes me and has left me a voicemail about on 7/18th. Supposedly the hairstylist hired to do my daughter's hair on 7/20th broke her arm and Tricia agreed to refund me the money paid. She's made excuses such as; her assistant was suppose to do it the day of 7/18, she was at her daughter's dance competition so she'll get it done end of that week and even saying her assistant was "suppose" to have done it (AGAIN) but she had to "let her assistant go" and is dealing with a mess. Tricia has even gone as far as removing the "Reviews" tab off her Facebook page after I posted my review yesterday. It's a shame Tricia is not able to fulfill her obligation as a business owner. It shows her lack of judgement, customer service skills and work ethics.
This was not the best make up and hair experience. I probably would not recommend. In the end it wasn't a total disaster but it was semi. Tricia broke her wrist so she had to send someone else, who could only make it one hour before we needed to be ready, so some of my girls did not get their make up done...and the hair lady basically could not figure out how to do any of the hairstyles I wanted ... it all was fine and good in the end up they are kinda lame to work with...so I mean. They'll be okay, but the other reviews are probably a bad sign...they're only modestly cheaper than the rest too...
I was a bit nervous at my trial because I do not wear makeup, but i left my trial at ease and even wore false eyelashes! So glad Tricia had me try them on....My wedding day was something from a movie everything went perfectly smooth. Tricia and Sarah had all ten of us completely wedding ready with makeup and lashes and we were all beyond pleased. My Mom has a huge scar on her neck that Tricia covered and my Mom looked gorgeous and felt gorgeous. These ladies get an AAA+ from me and my wedding party!
I was initially going to shrug off my experience with Pretty Up! as an instance of bad luck before my wedding, but after reading about similar reviews I feel I should warn other brides about a potentially negative experience.
In part, I am to blame for waiting too long to book a make up artist for my wedding. Tricia was the first artist to get back to me, and I was glad to hear that she had availability on the date of my wedding. I thought it was a little odd that she almost discouraged me from booking a trial in advance, but I felt it was important, so we made an appointment. The trial itself was just ok--my eyeliner and lip liner were uneven and my blush too heavy for my taste, but I told myself we could fix those things on the day of the wedding and I should trust the professional. I paid her in advance for the trial and day-of make up for four bridesmaids and myself.
Fast forward to the afternoon before my wedding. I am waiting to get my manicure before the rehearsal dinner and my phone rings. It is Tricia telling me that her family has the stomach bug and she can't make my wedding tomorrow. My heart just sank. A vendor pulling out literally hours before the big day was one of my pre-wedding nightmares, now come true. She reassured me that she had an assistant who would come and do the make up for all of us. After the rehearsal dinner, I texted her to ask for her assistant's number and her reply was "I gave her your contact information, so don't worry." I certainly was worried!
The bright side to this scary story is that her assistant did come the next day and she was absolutely wonderful. I liked my make up much better than on the day of my trial, and she did a great job with my bridesmaids, too. She did take a little longer than anticipated, which caused us to be about fifteen minutes late to the ceremony, but at that point I was just glad she was there! I did tip her, as I knew it wasn't her fault and she did a very nice job.
I didn't get any form of reimbursement from Tricia, though the contract specified that I would be reimbursed if she could not perform the services on the day of the wedding. So I paid well over $400 (including trial) to have a complete stranger do my make up right before my wedding.
Luckily, my make up did turn out nicely, so I was going to let it go--sometimes things happen and I know I'm not perfect myself. However, reading other reviews encouraged me to write about my experience. It seems like there is a pattern here and while I think Tricia is a nice person who has good intentions, I can't personally recommend her business.
I had the pleasure of working with this great bunch of ladies on my 9/5/15 wedding.. I could not of asked for a better crew to get all of us glammed up..Hair and makeup was fabulous. Friendly and courteous staff. My Maid of Honor booked them as well for her wedding coming up. My trial appointment i was nervous because i didn't know what i wanted and Tricia and Sara knocked it out of the park with a styles for me!
Hiring Tricia was by far the BIGGEST MISTAKE I made while wedding planning. I live in CA and had to fly to CT in order to fit in my hair trial, fitting, shower, etc. I had a very set schedule. Tricia called me at 7:30AM the morning of my trial with a crisis. Fine, things happen, reschedule for next week (my last weekend in CT).
I rearranged a lot to accommodate this change. Then…at exactly 7:30AM again, Tricia called saying there was a power outage and she wasn’t sure when it would be back. Being that she was planning on doing the trial from her house, she had to cancel. Finding this odd, we did a little research and found out that this was a complete LIE. She then tried to tell me I didn’t need a trial and that I would have “plenty of time” the day of the wedding, which any bride knows is delusional. In my opinion, she doesn’t want to do trials because she’s afraid people won’t book with her. I went back to the review boards and feel as if there are some very accurate BAD reviews of her speckled amongst a lot of what seem like made up “good” reviews. I think she manipulates these as well.
She required a $300 deposit up front (for 7 people), which I’ve since learned is not typical before a trial is even done. I called to cancel her services and requested my $300 deposit back. She promised she’d put the check in the mail. I got back to CA, no check. It’s now almost 3 months later, and she’s STILL giving me a pile of excuses and lies. I have record of over ELEVEN different excuses she gave me as to why the check, PayPal, or FedEx all fell through.
I now realize she’s been trying to keep the money over my head to prevent me from writing this review. She even told me that if I accept my refund, I cannot write reviews or I will be “hearing from her lawyer.” If that doesn’t tell you how bad of a businessperson she is I don’t know what will. I cannot express how much aggravation and stress this woman has caused me. I would NEVER TRUST HER ON MY WEDDING DAY.
I'm surprised to see positive reviews here of Tricia, if I could give her zero stars I would. I had a trial with Tricia and she did a fine job, I didn't love it but it was fine for the price. I signed a contract with Tricia and paid for the trial and a deposit. She promised she would email me a copy of the contract and receipt by the next day (a Sunday).
I didn't receive it Sunday so I gave it a few days and emailed her on Tuesday to ask if she could send it. She told me her computer had a virus and she had just gotten it back that night and would email it the next day. I of course never received it so I contacted her via Facebook on Saturday, she read my message and didn't reply. Before this she was very responsive to my communication and would reply within minutes. I don't expect it to be that fast but it's annoying when I see you read my message and didn't respond for a few days.
The next Tuesday I messaged her again telling her I needed my receipt and contract and was uncomfortable because I had paid her a few hundred dollars and gotten nothing from her. She replied right away that she sent it but must have sent it to the wrong email address and asked for my address again (even though I had written it right on the contract). When I gave her my email again her excuse was that she sent it to an AOL email and not gmail. She told me she would send it the next day.
Of course again I didn't receive anything and at this point I didn't trust that she would even show up at my wedding. I called her and told her I didn't think it was working out and didn't want to continue using her. She informed me that I paid a non-refundable deposit and I was out the money. Thankfully I had paid via credit card and had already talked to the company about the issue I was having. I informed her that my credit card company was willing to put in a dispute with her because she never sent the contract or receipt.
She then told me she would mail me a certified check by Friday, which of course I didn’t get. I contacted her the next week and she said she sent it out on Tuesday. Again, of course I didn’t get it so I had to call my credit card company to put in a dispute. Thankfully they were great and got my money back.
Tricia was unprofessional to work with and horrible with communication. She had tons of excuses and when I talked to her had excuses for the excuses. I don’t think I should have been the one to chase her down for my contract and receipt, if she had been proactive and let me know she was having issues I would have respected the way she conducted her business much more.
