Pulse Entertainment was great to work with and they made coordinating smooth and simple. Our issue was with the DJ we had and not so much with Pulse Entertainment itself. We had met with our DJ a few days before our event and they told us they ...understood our instructions and were clear on what was needed especially since they had worked at this venue previously. However, the DJ had several issues that impacted the event.
No one could understand the DJ's announcements or anything the DJ said. It sounded like they were very muffled and the sound quality was not clear. This affected announcements for the bridal party entrances, first dance, general announcements to guests, and no one heard the announcement for cake cutting which led to some confusion. Our parents missed the cake cutting. Using the portable mic was fine for officiant and speeches, but the DJ's mic had these issues.
For our first dance, the DJ started the song 11 seconds into the song (which we did not tell them to do). Since this was a choreographed dance that was only 1 minute long, it left an important portion of the dance out and confused us. We were excited to show off something we had worked hard on, but ultimately lost a portion of that special moment.
Part of our contract had us select 15 "must play songs" that we were assured would be played no matter what. The DJ ended up playing only a third of the songs we had selected which was a major disappointment for us and our guests. The DJ had access to this list a month before the event and we had spoken with them the week of the event to confirm. When talking with the DJ we had agreed on setting apart blocks of time for different genres of music including blocks for salsa/latin, throwbacks, etc. We ended up with more than half of the music being salsa/latin. Some of our guests did complain it was too much latin/salsa and even we agreed it was too much. The DJ didn't play genres in blocks of time so we had 3 salsa songs, 1 hip hop song, 3 more salsa songs, etc... for 2 hours, which was not what we discussed.
The DJ did however play our requested first and final songs correctly as well as one song that was specifically requested by the groom beforehand (though it was an incorrect version of the song). The photobooth was also a great addition and we had no issues with them.
Working with Pulse Entertainment was great, but our issues were with the DJ specifically. We would recommend Pulse Entertainment, but you will need to be VERY clear about what you want and even then, you still may not get what you want. For the amount of money being spent on a DJ, we feel like these issues shouldn't have happened.
