reading this, know what really happened. This ridiculous review is all about this potential customer being upset that her date was sold out before, she had an opportunity to sample food with us. She did NOT put down a deposit nor sign a contract. We exchanged several emails with her during a 2 week period, not only responding to her changes with regards to her menu and details about her event, but at the same time trying to arrange a tasting, so she could hopefully put down a deposit and reserve us. She was told a week before we received a deposit & contract from the other couple, WE HAVE ONE SLOT OPEN, and she spent the week still changing things and trying to get her catering proposal to her liking---This process of tweaking and getting schedules aligned is completely normal. She had ample time, to ask me what any reasonable person might ask, after hearing we had one slot open. " What do I need to do to secure the date?" or " Can I put a hold on the date" or even ask, " are you concerned my date would be taken by someone else?" she did none of these - instead she sent me rude emails accusing me / our business of being "Dishonest" & "Not Trustworthy". Some of the dates she proposed for a tasting we could not do, and some of the dates we proposed she said were not good for her. Unfortunately, it got pushed out. The date was not " given away" nor was it ever hers to begin with and it was not done so a week after securing the tasting date- that is completely false. We answered all correspondence with her within 48 hours and made a normal amount of changes and adjustments. We were always polite and willing to do whatever we could to get this entire thing to her liking. All we wanted was to set up a tasting with a menu she was interested in sampling from. Why sample food you either cannot ( due to dietary restrictions or other preferences)or simply do not want to eat at your event? Interestingly enough, and this was explained to her, we had a total of 8 others looking at this final slot. We regularly do follow ups with every potential customer and after not hearing back from any of these folks on THREE occasions, we assumed that none of them were interested, which is why we sent this lady a proposal to begin with. After three attempts to reach people and not even hearing back " we are still deciding:, or " we need another week" we move on. I can take a hint when I get absolutely no response back at all. Apparently, 1 of the 8 decided to send in the deposit and contract so since they started before this customer, already had a tasting with us and sent in payment and a signed contract, we of course accepted. We immediately let this customer know, " apologies but the date you are looking at is now taken by someone else". This customer immediately wrote us an email claiming we gave her date away and promptly wrote a review. Had she talked to me personally, I might have tried to figure something out for her, but she went right into this nonsense. When someone is shopping on Amazon, and the website says " we have 1 left" and you decide to put that in your cart, then come back a few days later to try to purchase it and it is no longer available, that is on you! I think the review system is very valuable and I also know that no business is perfect and we certainly make mistakes. When we make those mistakes I have zero problem owning it and doing everything I can to make it right with the customer. I have been a staple in the catering community for 26 years and although we are not perfect and miss a phone call or forget to answer an email the food and service at events- speak for themselves. This is an entirely new level of someone writing a 1 star review, not because of what we did but because she did not get her way coupled with some unfortunate timing.
