I would have my reception at this venue again. I went with a bridal package where the decorating was included by the Glass Slipper and they did an amazing job!
There were a few hiccups with having easels available by the venue. We had to track down staff to figure it out, as the sales/event person was not available. We had been there since 2pm and she did not touch base with us even once.
Our food was delicious. The servers were spot on with keeping the tables cleared and the beverages at the tables full. They even had a staff member serve my wheelchair bound aunt. They cut up our cake and served it saving the top for us. The ice cream bar was amazing and a huge hit with our guests and children.
Area of concern is the open bar it is pricey and was located in another room away from the reception party. My mother believes that outside hotel guest used our open bar. I honestly can't be sure, as I know the staff surely didn't know who was part of the wedding and who were not. We managed to go through almost 2K worth of alcohol during cocktail hour alone.
Towards the end of our reception we had crashers and the hotel had other "rowdy guests" that our wedding guests took the heat for. We had their "security" show up in the reception room as we were cleaning up causing an inappropriate scene. Leaving a bad taste in my mouth at the end of my biggest night. Actually leaving me quite angry. I was also later told he threatened to arrest my uncle over trivial things.
We had guest bags made up for those checking in at the hotel for our wedding... My mother in-law made up 30 of them. The front desk said they would hand them to guest as they checked in. Less than half were handed out. We had well over 30 guest stay at their hotel. Waste.
I would NOT suggest having your ceremony in their atrium/pool area. I was told on multiple occasions that the atrium would be closed to hotel guest for a minimum of three hours while my ceremony was taking place and that guest would be notified at check in of this closure. This would give us time to set up, have the ceremony, and then pictures. The day of the event as I was getting ready I was informed they would NOT be closing the atrium and that guest would be allowed to SWIM during my ceremony. That there was nothing they could do. The sales person that I had talked with from day one told me she would be available as a go to person on the day of my wedding if anything were to go wrong. She was NOT available and NOT reachable. My wedding guest and good friends asked people to leave the pool and stopped people from entering the pool area. Luckily the other guests were half way okay with this. However the second my ceremony ended the hotel guests moved into the ceremony area preventing us from doing any additional photos. It was complete chaos. I was less then pleased with this experience and stress no bride should experience before they walk down the aisle.
We did receive the bridal suite and they did have champagne and flutes, chocolates, etc waiting for us as we came back from our reception. That was very nice and the room was nice but no time to enjoy it.
My wedding was almost two months ago and I never heard a word from my venue. Communication was good until the days leading up to my event, then there was a complete breakdown. Customer service does not end at midnight, follow up is key.
In the end I married the man I love, and although things were FAR from perfect I'm happy to be a Mrs.
