JJ was our DJ for our wedding. We had a phone call with JJ the week of our wedding. During the phone call, JJ seemed very rude, in return that made me weary to even ask questions. During the phone call, I requested that no line dance songs be played. JJ then replied with 'I am not trying to be prude, but I know what I am doing & how to get a crowd going". During the ceremony music, JJ took awhile to cut off the music that I walked down the aisle to, so we were just awkwardly waiting for the music to stop. Before our best man/MOH speeches, JJ did not announce that they were going to start. He handed my MOH the mic and she had to ask everyone to take their seats and start to quiet down. She had to awkwardly ask a couple of times. Isn't the DJ supposed to be the MC for the night? JJ did announce that we would do first dances "in a couple of minutes" and then waited for at least 15-20 minutes. We did agree on no foul music, which was fine, but it did take him forever to even start the "clean version party music" per say at the reception - that started by the last hour of the night. I did give JJ a 'must play' list and he did play SOME of them, but they were right at the very beginning of the night. So at that point, even though we did have people dancing, that is something I would've liked to have done a little longer into the night after everyone was ready to 'party' and done talking (My husband and I stayed during those songs, since they were ones we really wanted to hear and dance to with our friends, and missed talking to some people due to that). I was still upset that I had must play songs and only heard 15 of the songs I had on my list. While I know my list was a smidge long, those were the songs I wanted to hear and a lot of them had some significance to them and we didn't get to hear the most important ones. JJ was also very rude to my mom and my day of coordinator. For someone who has been in this profession for years, you would think they know how to treat people and how to work as a team, but it was apparent that wasn't the case here. I had some of my friends even request songs for me (because I was not going to talk to JJ, I was a little upset and just didn't want to speak with him at the time) and JJ told my friends that the songs were 'in the que' but I didn't ever hear some of them. We also had a private last dance at the end and the music started playing before everyone was out of the ballroom. So, I had to have a friend ask him to stop the music and wait for everyone to leave. The music also wasn't very loud all night. Overall, JJ was rude to myself and husband, family, day of coordinator, and even guests that went to request songs. I had guests come up to me and tell me how rude JJ was. All in all, I am still upset about our DJ choice and hope that in the future another bride doesn't have the same experience that I did.
We had Sean as our DJ. He was great to work with pre-wedding (very thorough, made sure he had all his info right, answered all my questions, etc.). He does take a lot of initiative when it comes to timeline of events day-of, so if you have a wedding coordinator, they may butt heads lol (this did happen at mine quite a bit). Only negative thing I have to say about his actual DJing was that my husband and I had to exit our ceremony to no music, because it just never started (honestly I was really pissed because it was super awkward). The music just did not start after we were announced husband and wife and recessional began. But, at the reception, Sean kept the party going the entire time and our dance floor was packed from the first to last song (seriously no exaggeration there lol)!
JJ Gerard was fantastic at our son and daughter-in-law's wedding. He played a great mix of music and was exceptional to work with. He incorporated games to keep the guests entertained and the cloud for the bride and groom to dance on was a beautiful touch. Would definitely recommend! Many thanks for making their day so special!
Lynch did a great job mixing the old with the new music at our wedding! He was funny and helped us stay on time!
Sean Lynch provided excellent DJ services for the wedding reception we hosted for our son and his bride. Sean has a unique and welcome talent for balancing the the music entertainment to please the crowd and the interjection of his energetic personality without being overbearing. He served as a great emcee and kept the the reception going strong. He also worked well with the other vendors. I believe the wedding couple left the music selection up to Sean, who read the guests well and kept them dancing throughout the night. Post wedding, a couple of the guests did mention that they noticed Sean vaping outside while a song was playing, however, I did not notice, and it certainly did not affect his service as a DJ or hamper the reception.
We could not have chosen a better DJ for our special day! Our guests are still talking about how amazing JJ was with emceeing our reception and transitioning from one song to the next. Our friends and nieces and nephews were on the dance floor all night long! We cannot wait to host another event just to have JJ back as the life of the party! Radio Pro DJ’s is by far THE BEST in central Illinois!
JJ Gerard was our DJ from Radio Pro DJs. JJ was very professional and easy to work with. He took the time to have a telephone conference with us so he could carefully learn the names of everyone in our wedding party and worked with us to build a list of songs we would like to be played and what we would like to not be played. He gave us great advice in creating a timeline for our wedding reception and executed it seamlessly on our wedding day. It was clear from our interactions with JJ that he has a lot of experience with weddings, and so we felt confident going into our wedding knowing that he was working with us. JJ arrived well ahead of time to set up and make sure everything was in place for the wedding, and kept our guests entertained and dancing on the dance floor throughout the evening. We would highly recommend working with JJ Gerard and Radio Pro DJs for your wedding.
JJ was an amazing DJ! He made sure everyone stayed entertained and did a great job announcing. He made the music for our ceremony so seamless and perfect. Everything was on point!! They were so easy to work with.
We liked our DJ and he did a nice job at the reception. We all had a lot of fun and the overall music selection was pretty good. However, I will say there were a couple things I was a bit disappointed in. The company advertises that when you sign a contract, you get that particular DJ. That was not the case. We got a letter in the mail (after signing a contract) that our DJ was no longer available and they had assigned us to somebody else. This is irritating because their ads say they DON'T do this! Also, the electric slide played at the wedding and that was on our DO NOT PLAY list.
Overall, we were happy at the end of the night so it worked out fine.
One thing I believe a BRIDE should never worry about is the DJ. I did receive a few nice comments about how the dj was. As the bride I was a little disappointed since I went through and I made a request list and maybe half of them were played. I would suggest to brides in the future don't go to the trouble of this, just request songs one by one. We had a buffet and I had requested he call table numbers, he announced it was a free for all. Luckily it worked out but with 250 people it worried me. They weren't terrible. The music for the most part was good, just some things I wish wouldn't have happened.
Sean Lynch was entertaining and kept the dance floor going. Very thorough DJ and takes the time to go over name pronunciations, favorable songs, do-not-play songs, and timeline for the reception. The only advice I have is when you fill out the timeline, if times can be flexible I would note that at the bottom. I say this because we served our own food and we were ready about 30 minutes before the timeline indicated. Sean was going by the timeline and didn't think food was ready to be served (so this is not his fault by any means) and it caused a little bit of confusion... nothing major. Just thought I should let anyone else know that is trying to do a lot of their wedding stuff on their own and would have a flexible reception schedule.
Our DJ was Jeff and he did a fabulous job of announcing everyone, keeping the party lively, and ensuring our guests had a great time while we ran around for pictures. We went with the small package of lights but it was GREAT for the venue.
