Megan at Ranch Events was amazing! Very professional, very fun and always on it. We used them for catering and rentals. We got so many compliments on our food, especially the dessert. Megan was so helpful in every step of the process and I appreciate her being so quickly respondent when I needed. I would 100% recommend Ranch Catering for you events!
What an amazing experience. The venue was beautiful and Megan was absolutely wonderful to work with and so very helpful. The food and cake were so amazing that our guests are still talking about it. The day of the wedding Sal and his team where right on point. Everything was ready for the guests when we arrived. They also were right there when we had a question or needed something. Would definately recommend Rand Events and their staff.
Ranch Events catering was great to work with. We worked with Ramon and he was the best. A true professional. He knows his craft, and he’s super personable. We planned a destination
wedding, and we’re busy professionals, so it was a necessity that we didn’t have to do much research outside of picking a vendor. During our tasting Ramon struck a great balance of talking
business, pleasure, and just allowing us to be excited about getting married. He made a great suggestion to have these naked cupcakes in mason jars instead of a large sheet cake for guests. They were a hit! Our personal cake was beautiful, fresh and delicious. By the end of the night there was no cake left, which I’ve never seen at a wedding before. His staff was great, and we would recommend Ranch Events catering to anyone!
Kathy, Ramon, and Sal were great to work with. The Seaside Room at Marina bill was beautiful and a perfect setting. Thank you for making it an effortless day!
We had them cater for our wedding and all I can say is WOW!
Every since the beginning, Bernardo and the rest of the Ranch Events team was an absolute pleasure to work with. Bernardo is an amazing guy, and super super kind and thoughtful. He helped us not only with the food for our wedding, but he took care of the bar, the linens, dance floor, and much more. He is the 1 stop shop for everything wedding relate and he makes it all easy.
It was also very reasonably priced, and the quality of the food was amazing! Everyone commented on how great the food was, and like I said earlier, he was an absolute pleasure to work with.
If you are getting married and are looking for a wedding caterer, honestly look no further, Bernardo will work with you based on your budget like he did us, and handle everything for you, including things you never would have thought of.
If I could give him more than 5 stars I would!
Ranch Events was great to work with for our wedding. Paula was our coordinator and she was very communicative and organized. The appetizers, dinner, cake, and drinks that they provided were all delicious and our guests really enjoyed them. They threw in a few extras for our event which was greatly appreciated. They accommodated all of our requests and allowed us to personalize our event as needed. We booked the Seaside Room and they did a great job of decorating the inside and outside of our venue. The location is right on the marina and is beautiful. It was very affordable compared to the other venues we looked at. Would HIGHLY recommend Ranch Events for any event you are booking in the future.
Couldn't be happier with Ranch Events! My husband and I were planning our wedding during COVID, and our original venue had to cancel. We needed to find a new reception location and came across Ranch Events through the list of preferred vendors for one of the ceremony locations we were looking at. While we initially were looking at a caterer only, we quickly learned from Ramon of Ranch Events that they run and manage the Seaside Room at the Marina Village Conference Center, which was perfect for us - they were literally a one-stop shop, and they were located conveniently 5 minutes away from the ceremony location we eventually chose.
Ramon was so helpful and courteous throughout our planning process. Our tasting absolutely delicious and the final meals we chose were fantastic. Ramon and Ranch Events were extremely flexible with us throughout the entire process and were great at providing us any tips or advice that other couples had during their events there.
Our wedding day was just as beautiful as we imagined it. All of the staff were fabulous, and the entire event ran by really smoothly. Our guests loved the location and the open atmosphere with the patio and floor to ceiling glass windows. We also loved the upstairs balcony area for our wedding party to use for our outfit changes. It was a good place to slip away if anyone needed it! The only downside is we had purchased sheet cake for our guests and a display cake for us to take home, but all of it ended up getting served so we had none left to take home. I guess the silver lining is our guests all got to enjoy our cake!
I would definitely recommend Ranch Events for any event!
Due to Covid restrictios, we did not get the green light for a reception until 6 weeks from our weddng date. Paula jumped on board and helped catch me up immediately. We had our dinner catered, wedding cake as well as rentals through Ranch Events. They got everything to our location and set up everything for us. The staff on our wedding day was pleasant and the food was fantastic.
Ranch Events is super affordable for high quality food and service. They have many years and events under their belt and it is shown with the quality of work they produce. We have them cater our wedding and Bernardo made the whole process a great experience. Bernardo helped us out and was very understanding with all the covid restrictions changing on a regular basis. The food was amazing, we received so many compliments from our guests on how great the food tasted. Now the cake, woah! It was soooo good. We had three flavors and they were all amazing! I can't wait to have them cater for us again.
Sorry - long review!
Bernardo and Ranch Catering were beyond incredible to work with throughout our wedding planning process! We originally were going to only use Ranch for their catering services but due to covid and restrictions at our original venue, we ultimately switched our reception to the Ranch Seaside Room in Mission Bay. Being a covid bride moving forward with our original date, I couldn’t help but be sad that we wouldn’t be able to use our original venue and that we would have to cut our guest list, but in the end, our wedding was infinitely more beautiful, fun, and perfect than we had every imagined it could be, all thanks to Bernardo and the Ranch team!
Bernardo worked with us through every step of planning our wedding from pre-covid planning through making the event as safe as possible for our guests. Not only was the food DELICIOUS (as we knew it would be from all of our taste testings!), but the Seaside Room and patio were beyond GORGEOUS and so well done by Ranch. My husband and I to this day are still in awe of how everything came together under Bernardo’s direction and guidance.
Bernardo was at our reception from start to finish making sure my now husband and I were happy with how everything turned out and not hungry! After months of stressful planning, it could not have come together better. It’s been just about two months since our wedding and we still have friends and family telling us how wonderful our wedding was and how it was the highlight of the year.
I rarely write reviews but I am so impressed by Bernardo and Ranch that I had to! I HIGHLY recommend them for any future bride looking for a great team, delicious food, and gorgeous bay front venue at an affordable price!
I had nothing but a great experience with Ranch Events. They are on the same grounds we were married and everything went off without a problem. We had a great tasting prior to the event and the food was delicious. Thank you Bernardo for helping make our day perfect.
I cannot more whole heartedly endorse Ranch Events. Bernardo, our coordinator, was BEYOND AMAZING from our initial meeting through the day after our wedding. If you can snag him, I promise your day will go smoothly and be beautiful. As an example, after we said our vows on the South Lawn at Marina Village, Bernardo himself was waiting for us and our wedding party with glasses of champagne adorned with strawberries. This is just a tiny example of how he goes above and beyond. The Catalina Room was setup beyond my imagination and the food....my guests are still raving about it. This is not wedding food—this is good better than most restaurants serve! Plus, you can also go through Ranch Events for your florals so it’s a one stop shop. I sent Kim a picture of what I wanted, met with her ONCE for about 5 minutes and boom! Literal perfection and florals my guests are still talking about! This wedding could not have gone better and I doubt it would have had I worked with anyone else than Bernardo from Ranch Events! Thank you, Bernardo!
We used Ranch Events as one of the contracted caterers for the Japanese Friendship Garden. We used them for food (includes tables, linens, chairs, etc.) bar, flowers, cake, signage, and market lighting. From the first call, Megan D. was amazing, always getting back to me within a few hours and being on top of everything. Natalie created the best, best florals. On the day of, everything was perfect and exactly as we had discussed. There's a very short time frame for setup at the JFG, and they got right to work and knocked it all out. The servers were great. Having one vendor handle so many things just made my life so much easier. Highly recommend!
We used Ranch Events to cater our wedding last month - our liaison was Megan D and she was really great. The tasting menu is varied that there is something for everyone to love and at a really affordable price too. If you like a dish and think its too salty or could be a bit spicier you can speak up and they will make it so. Everyone at our wedding raved about how good the food was (we went with the Taste of Mexico Menu) even my husband said the food was better than he remembered at our tasting. They were also well versed in the layout and rules of our venue so I didn't have to worry about a thing. The staff was friendly and accommodating.
We can’t thank Ranch Events enough for making our wedding planning and wedding day the best day of our lives. We worked with Bernardo and let me tell you he is Ammmmazing! Talk about customer service at its finest. He was easy to work with from start to finish and he was so hands on with our planning and accommodations. We also worked with Kim in floral and we were so pleased with all of our flowers for our wedding. I highly highly recommend this team to help plan your big day. Never met a team that works so hard to make everything great on your wedding day. Thank you Bernardo and crew!! Love you!
We just had our wedding last weekend at Marina Village and Ranch Events did our catering & floral. They did a phenomenal job and made our dream wedding become a reality all while staying within our budget!! Our event designer and contact at Ranch Events was Yvonne, and words can’t explain her incredible work ethic and creativity. She was incredibly professional and easy to get a hold of, which is hard to find in this business! She made us feel comfortable and had no problem working with our budget. She pours her whole heart and soul into her work and we are forever grateful for what she did for us! Our wedding turned out to be flawless and Yvonne made each step of the planning process so organized and easy. Natalie was our contact for our floral and she was just as professional. She nailed our inspiration photos and it truly took my breath away to see everything set up. What I had envisioned in my head is exactly what it looked like in person. Our wedding was very well thought out and planned and it was all because of Ranch Events. We can’t thank you enough!!
Ranch was our number one choice for caterer but we were so worried we wouldn’t be able to afford them. We met with Bernardo who was absolutely fantastic. He explained everything so well and worked with us so we would be able to make everything work with Ranch Events. Bernardo was our go-to person and he was so on top of everything. He made planning the menu and rentals the easiest part of our whole wedding planning process. I honestly can’t say enough nice things about Bernardo and Ranch Events. Everyone at our wedding LOVED the food. We had guests asking if the caterer was from a restaurant so they could go eat there. Everything turned out even more amazing than we had thought! I would definitely recommend Ranch Events and ask for Bernardo.
LOVED RANCH CATERING!!! They served our appetizers, desserts and made our wedding cake - among other small additions. My only regret was not having gone to them first for other needs for our wedding - by the time we found Ranch Catering we had already paid and booked other vendors - Ranch was AMAZING, flexible, professional, and their food was PHENOMENAL. Their cakes were just one of a kind - probably the best tasting cake I have ever had - and I love cake! LOL - It was a pleasure working with them and they were willing to work with our prices too! I would definitely use them again in the future for any event if needed.
Ramon and all staff included played a huge part in making our wedding day perfect! The service, the food, the attitudes were amazing! So glad we found them to assist with everything!
We were going through different catering tastings when trying to book a caterer, and we didn’t really like any of them until we showed up to Ranch. The food was great at the tasting and it was easy to choose which ones we would have for our buffet-style wedding. What’s great about Ranch is that they are an all-in-one caterer that included the china, glasses, linens, bartender, etc. and they are located in the same area as our venue, Marina Village. Yvonne was our point of contact, and she was amazing through it all. We changed the menu once or twice through e-mail and she was very prompt at replying. Yvonne helped us set up a tentative timeline that was helpful for our coordinator, and helped us with a floor plan for our venue, as well. It was all immensely helpful, and on the day of, everything ran perfectly. Ranch set up the room perfectly, and I didn’t have to worry about taking everything down at the end of the night - they took care of that. Having an all-in-one caterer was the one of the best wedding decisions I made and it made everything less stressful, knowing they’ve done events thousands of times. Our guests loved the food (prime rib, Mediterranean chicken, and lasagna) and kept telling us how amazing it was, and we even got to take home leftovers at the end of the night.
Overall, everything ran smoothly, and I highly suggest Ranch for other couples or companies looking to book them!
We used Ranch Events for our wedding and reception. Megan was our consultant, and she was a pleasure to work with. We were able to arrange the majority of our details through them...our chair rental for our wedding on the bay, linens, china, flatware, and glasses. We had a bartender, servers and a captain. The food was so delicious! We’re still getting compliments from our guests. The cakes were delicious and beautiful too. The prices were very reasonable...we have nothing but positive experiences with Ranch Events.
We absolutely could not have been more pleased with how our reception turned out in the Catalina Room at Marina Village. We had Ranch cater our reception and worked with Bernardo. He made our vision come to life perfectly. Everything looked so beautiful and we can't thank him and the staff enough for making everything look just so perfect and run so smoothly. Bernardo was very patient as we changed our colors three times!! We contacted him many times with questions during the planning process and was always very nice and patient. Everyone loved the food. We definitely recommend Bernardo and Ranch Events.
If you're looking for a seamless and easy coordination company, Ranch Events is just the place. Ramon and his team worked really well with our wedding coordinator to make our wedding effortlessly beautiful given our budget.
Meeting Ramon, at Ranch events, was honestly one of the most fortunate things to happen when it came to planning, organizing, detailing and executing our wedding. He handled everything from the tables, chairs, linens, catering, servers, cake and so much more.
I was extremely anxious and overwhelmed when it came to planning my wedding, so much that I was on the verge of eloping (seriously) but then we met Ramon and the stress was lifted, he actually made the entire process seamless and so-much-fun. I could rant all day about how wonderful he is and what a great experience it was but honestly, you'd hear the exact same from all of my wedding guests, "it was the best wedding I've ever been to."
Great food and at an amazing prize! Everyone was raving about the cake saying it was the best wedding cake they have ever had
We had a wonderful experience with Ramon and his staff. The guests raved about the food. Additionally, they were very accommodating and willing to work within our budget. We highly recommend them to anyone wanting excellent food at a great price. (Mother of the bride)
Excellent venue and did a great job overall. Did have a little difficulty with catering but ended up working out well.
Ranch Events is amazing at what they do! Their food, cakes, service, staff and talent is a must for every wedding. I worked with Paula as my coordinator and she was a pleasure to work with. She was very supportive and patient as I decided on every detail of my wedding. The Sunset room is so specious and having their help to set up was so important while I got ready: I worked with Kim on my flowers! She made my vision come to life and all my guests complimented me on the beautiful flowers all night.
The appetizers, food, dessert, beverages and the cake options with Ranch Events made me, my husband and guests very happy and I would strongly recommend working with them on your special day! You have the best at your fingertips. There's no need to search for several vendors when Ranch events can do it all. Please contact them for a food and cake tasting! You will be blown away!!
Thank you Paula and Kim!

We used Ranch Events for our wedding on March 12, 2017, and they were absolutely fabulous! Everything was set up exactly as I had expected, from table and chair placement to linens and serving stations. The food was excellent, and all of our guests had an amazing time. Thank you Ranch Events for making our wedding day unforgettable.
We used Ranch Events for catering, bakery, flowers, and their Seaside Room at Marina Village. Yvonne was amazing! She was on top of everything and provided us guidance and "to-do" items along the way to ensure that our wedding was on-track. She practically held our hand and gave us her opinion and insight when we asked, and helped us to stay within our budget. A huge plus! Sylvia was our florist, and she is great! She understood exactly what I wanted and put together the most beautiful floral arrangements! She also guided us and was mindful of our budget when making suggestions! We used their bakery to place a small cake on each table, four different kinds cake total, they looked and tasted great! The Seaside Room is beautiful, large, and photographs very well. We fit a large photobooth and additional games in the room with space to spare. My one tip is to purchase the 1 ounce drink pourers to help the alcohol last all night.
Bernardo and the team here are so accommodating! We wanted a simpler menu with an island feel and they had the perfect menu for us. The food was amazing! Bernardo took care of all the setup and it was so beautiful! They took care of everything! I highly recommend them :)
We used Ranch Events for our wedding this past November. The food was great, and they have a excellent variety of decor, but we did face discrepancies with the staff. The chairs and tables were to be delivered the day before the wedding and no one showed up at all. My coordinator had to call and figure out what was going on, only for them to say the people delivering the chairs and tables were in a "accident" and won't be able to make it till the next day. At no point was I or my coordinator contacted to be informed of the situation, which led to my coordinator having to call them. Then they were scheduled to be at the venue at 10am the next day to set up and didn't arrive till 11:30am. During the set up my coordinator had to explain to the staff multiple times where stuff goes because they kept putting the dance floor, tables, etc. in the wrong places. The food serving staff did a great job, but there was a discrepancy with the appetizers we paid over $1000 for. We ordered 3 different appetizers and they only brought out 1 on 3 trays that were passed around. When I informed my event coordinator Rhonda about the situation, she kind of just blew it off and sent my complaint to management in which they did nothing nor did they contact me. Overall Ranch Events is reasonably priced, and has great food and decor, but the staffing needs to be reevaluated immensely.
My husband and I are very happy we chose Ranch Events to cater our wedding last month. The food and cake were very good, and Rhonda was super accessible and very willing to work with our budget and special requests. I would recommend Ranch Events to any couple looking for a wedding or event coordinator!!!
Ranch Events provided the rentals and full catering for our 85 guests at our wedding. Wow, did it go perfectly. Paula and Justin handled all of the coordinating and were super responsive. Luis was the onsite manager and made sure everything was taken care of and that we didn’t have to worry about anything during the event. The food, cake and desserts were delicious and the guests raved about it and the service. Thank you to the Ranch Events team for making our special day so perfectly.
The staff in helping plan our wedding did great the food was good and the decorations were outstanding! The only thing was that we had crayons and play dough for the kids at the kids table for them to play with. The day of my wedding they inform me they have to remove them from the table because we had white table cloth and didn't want the kids to color all over it. So they made another table for them with black table cloth which was fine except no one knew what happened to the crayons and play dough I bought. It wasn't until around after dinner my mom found the crayons and play dough, the kids got to play at the table like I wanted which was fine I just wished they hadent lost the things I bought for the kids. Everything else was absolutely beautiful
We used Ranch Events for our ceremony and wedding at the Seaside room located at Marina Village. Words can't describe how amazing everything was. We initially were going to try and do everything ourselves in one of the other rooms at Marina Village, but when we met with Bernardo from Ranch Events, we knew that he was the one to help plan our day and Ranch Events was going to make our wedding perfect. We had close to 175 guests and Bernardo made sure we got the best deal possible and stayed within our budget. There are so many details to planning your perfect day and Bernardo made things so much easier than I could have imagined. He was very responsive to answer all of my questions via email or phone call. We had a beautiful ceremony on the patio of the seaside room that Ranch events covered for privacy. The reception hall was beyond beautiful with my colors black and coral. Everyone told me how delicious the food was and even as the bride myself I made sure to eat up. We even got to take home the leftovers to enjoy. And don't get me started on the cake. We had 4 layers of pure bliss. My groom wasn't hesitant on getting 4 flavors because he knew I'd want to eat them all. Which of course I did...just a bite of course. I am beyond grateful to Bernardo and all of his hard working staff for making my wedding the most beautiful day I could have ever imagined!!
We used Ranch Catering for my daughter's wedding in March. Ranch drove to Fallbrook for the venue. The food was amazing. We had lots of compliments from our guests. The service and wait staff were professional and efficient. There were a few minor communication issues but, all-in-all, the wedding was lovely, food was great, and Ranch did a wonderful job. I specifically liked not having to rent linen, glassware, china, chairs, etc., from an outside company, but I'm sure the convenience of Ranch Catering offering these rentals is built in to the price. Bottom line, read your final contract to make sure everything is included.
At first I was hesitant to book with Ranch Events because of the bad reviews. But my experience with RE and Rhonda was nothing short from amazing. She was extremely easy to work with, full of great innovative ideas, and very professional. She worked within our budget and made great suggestions to keep costs within our price range. We even got two food tastings, because at our first food tasting we were so stuffed after sampling all of the apps & entrees that we couldn’t decide on the cake flavor. So we scheduled a second cake tasting and Rhonda provided us with an unexpected entrée tasting as well. The food was even better at the reception than at the first and second tastings. At the tastings I wasn’t impressed with the asparagus, but at the reception they were steamed perfectly. Honestly, my guests raved about the food and cake. They are still talking about it! Rhonda suggested a creative, unique & cost effective touch to our table centerpieces, they were cake centerpieces and they turned out equally beautiful as delicious. She was able to find a specific type of rose to top the cake centerpieces in order to match the bouquets. Also there were a couple extra bonuses: RE served chocolate & strawberries with our cheese station, gummy bears & several candy toppings at the ice cream sundae bar and RE even supplied large decorative, blue light-up globes throughout the reception venue. The Seaside Room has comfortable & charming vibe and truly everything surpassed my expectations. Thank you everyone at RE, Rhonda, kitchen staff, wait staff, bartenders, decorating team and set-up/clean-up crew! The service was outstanding and the venue was decorated perfect! (If you have a special request, then just ask you’ll be surprised how accommodating RE/Rhonda can be.) Thank you for creating our best day ever!!!
I can’t say enough wonderful things about my experience with Ranch Events. Over the years they have catered numerous dinner dances for us with the most recent having been on 2/13/2016. Sindy and Kathy have been gems to work with and the entire staff has been wonderful. Having shared that - no matter how great the service is - if the food isn’t good there will be unhappy guests. The food Ranch has served has always been of the highest quality and expertly prepared. I still don’t know how they manage that when some of our dances have had 200+ guests. They have their craft down to an art form. I’m looking forward to working with Ranch Events again for our December 2016 dance and know that once again we’ll be in great hands!
We hired Ranch Events as our reception caterer and reception venue host. We had several meetings with Ramon to refine our vision, create a menu, and pick out linens. Ramon took the time to listen to our wants and needs, and was able to accommodate our vision. Early on in the planning process we had budget concerns. Ramon listened to our concerns and found a way to make it happen. We rented to Seaside room at Marina Village. It came with an adjoining outside area that we used for our cocktail hour. The venue to perfect, and came with a few pre-installed decor, which fit seamlessly with our decor.
Ranch Events provided the food for our cocktail hour, reception, cake, and bar staff. Everyone LOVED the food and cake! In fact, the cake was the best I have ever tasted! We are still getting feedback from guests on how much they loved the food! Salvador, the event captain was amazing. He ensure everyone was fed in a timely manner, and even cut up the entire cake for people to take home at the end of the night. My only complaint was that someone in the bar staff did not want to use some of the mixers we had purchased for our signature drink, and instead had one of the groomsmen run out at the last minute and purchase a different mixer, even though the ones we had would have worked just fine.
Overall I recommend Ranch Events, especially if you are planning on hosting your event at Marina Village.
I was connected with Bernardo and he was a nice man. He made the cost reasonable and presented ways to save. The food was the best, the cake is still being talked about it was so good, and the service was the best. They took care of everything.
Ranch Events was the best wedding vendors. We worked with Rhonda and she made everything so easy for us and she's fantastic. We were so stressed out and she worked with our budget and the wedding decor was absolutely stunning thanks to Ranch Events and Rhonda!
We used the Seaside room for our wedding ceremony and reception site in March 2015.
We worked with Bernardo as our point of contact and I have the highest compliments for him and his staff. From the first day we met with Bernardo, he took a genuine interest in what we wanted for the wedding and reception. The fact he controlled the room setup, décor and catering was a tremendous advantage and made it easier for us to focus on other vendors.
The reception went exactly as promised, the buffet lines went smoothly and there were no significant delays to get everyone served. We received compliments on the food quality and it exceeded our expectations. Choosing the cupcake option allowed us to choose a variety of flavors and guests were able to sample the multiple options.
Bringing our own alcohol saved us a significant amount of money and allowed us to have an open bar for the entire reception. The Ranch bartenders were responsive and professional and made sure that we got back everything that was not used.
Highly recommend this location. Our first impression was that the empty room looked a little dated, but once Bernardo and his team worked their magic we were left with a gorgeous setting for a lifetime of memories.

Ranch did our Family Style catering for our wedding at the Seaside Room @ Marina Village on 2/7/15.
~Before event: 5 stars
~Day of event: 3 stars
~After event: 0 stars (read below about Kathy; "GM" of Ranch.)
Over promise and under deliver is accurate, as others have mentioned. At first everything was great. Rhonda assured us over and over again that they have 20+ years experience and there was nothing to worry about.
1. The outside bar at the Seaside room wasn't set up. We hired an acoustic guitarist to utilize the area during cocktail hour. It wasn't set up so we had to cancel him last min. End of the world? Not at all! Mistakes happen. Rhonda admitted the error & we were credited for the 2nd bar, ($247.00).
2. The food tasted good. For the ones who got served all the food on the menu were happy. Some tables didn't receive the Salmon, others didn't receive all the appetizers. Ok, family style clearly isn't their thing.
3. The room was hot, no airflow! My bridesmaids asked the floor manager to turn the air on or open the doors. (The same doors which were to be used going in and out of our outside bar). After an hour of no change, I left the dance floor to ask again. Air turned on around 9pm. OK, back to dancing!
4. Dinner was late. My mother had to tip the floor manager to have them hustle. Why would you tip after we paid in advance for it? My mothers words: "dinner was to be served at 7pm. At 7:30pm I asked since dinner is running late to please being out more appetizers. At 7:45pm there was no food so I tipped him to get moving." Dinner was served at 8pm. 1hr late.
Their explanation was: "dinner was late because your mother was demanding for food!" You mean to tell me that my mother caused the 1hr delay?! Funny.
(Our agreement was that appetizers were to served throughout the night, not just cocktail hour. Which we're told was not an issue).
So overall it was a great night and people were happy, even with the few hiccups along the way. But.....
.... Where it went HORRIBLY wrong and the reason for my 1 star is the morning after. We (my mother, my husband & myself) went in the next morning to pickup items we left behind. We couldn't find the box of 50+ glasses we left behind and went into the main office to see if Rhonda was there and knew where they were & ask about the bar situation. That's it.. to talk like adults and find out what happened with the outdoor planned bar we talked about. I mean come on.. We were all still on cloud nine for the wedding. :) no need to get too upset over, yes it was a huge error, but things go wrong.
We were greeted by someone and they let us know Rhonda wasn't there to find out where our glasses were and he called Kathy the GM. I never asked to speak with her and Jesus I wish I never had. I was handed the phone and told, "this our GM Kathy, maybe she could help".
I couldn't believe what happened next!!!!! I told her I came in to see if Rhonda knew where our glasses were and to see why our bar wasn't set up and that as a result we had to turn our guitarist away. Her response while laughing in a condensing tone was, "Turning away your vendor because of that is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard!"
* review cut off due to space :( But that's a sample of the treatment from this company as a whole.
I had my wedding catered by Ranch Catering and am 100% happy with the service they provided. Ramon was our main contact and he was always available for any questions or concern. On the day of the wedding, Ramon himself was there to coordinate the event. Mary flowers was amazing, she captured exactly what I wanted. My flowers were gorgeous, fresh and just wonderful. I will always recommend Ranch catering to anyone and will use them for any events in the future.
Catering review: Their food tastes so incredibly good, you won't believe it. The two best reasons to use this caterer: 1. they work within YOUR budget (and don't lowball you or make you increase your budget), and 2. they can do anything and everything! They throw in a LOT of stuff in the price also. Know this going in: they are negotiable! They really do want to give you the best possible experience and will work hard to do so within your means. All dinnerware and linens are included, with no hidden "upgrade" options or fees. The only reason they didn't get 5 stars is you really need to be explicit and DETAILED with what you want, and make sure it gets documented and not just verbally agreed upon.
Wedding cake review: We used this vendor for our catering (~120 people) and decided to use them for our wedding cake as well because their cakes taste AMAZING! We had so much trouble deciding on a flavor, so we chose one for each tier (3)! We showed our rep pictures of what we wanted for the design of the cake and what we got was GORGEOUS! Adding flowers to your cake is included in the price, and we had circus roses and blue orchids. We used our own topper, and they put it on the cake for us. The cake was truly so beautiful, we hated cutting into it! And everyone raved about the taste!
I just wrote a long review and it got erased! So long story short...
Our wedding was July 27, 2013. We got married in Temecula at Whispering Oaks Terrace. They were awesome! They traveled from SD to our wedding venue. Brought a portable kitchen! We also did our wedding cake through them which was 3 tiers and gorgeous!!! It was exactly like the picture I gave them. And tasted fabulous... Far better deal and better tasting than the bakeries we'd gone to. Our guests loved the food as well, so major plus there! I highly recommend them and Julie (whom we dealt with primarily!)
All during my reception all of my guests kept saying how good all the food was! Ranch Events did a great job. My husband and I opted for a buffet style reception with passed appetizers. Everything was delicious and fresh. They also had done an excellent job on all the linens as well! The wait staff was amazing. They even gave my mother-in-law a napkin full of money that my husband and I had left!
Ranch Events catered our wedding of about 100 people on Saturday, April 6th, 2013 and we would absolutely recommend them! Our catering manager was Sandy King, who is now part-time with the company, but if you can snag her as your manager, you will be worry-free. Sandy is truly one of the best in the business, very professional, always nice, always helpful and proactive in reaching solutions. I noticed an earlier review that Sandy doesn't open or close her emails with a greeting....really? I have 50+ emails that say otherwise! On the day of our tasting, almost a year ago, we sat down with Sandy and tried just about everything Ranch had to offer. We had sat down with two caterers before Ranch and we had been underwhelmed with them...Ranch blew us away. The food was amazing, the prices were competitive, and that cake.....oh wow. We have a favorite bakery and had been considering them for our cake, but after we tasted cake by Ranch's bakery, we were SOLD. (Our cake was a huge hit at the wedding...we had the chocolate with chocolate chips and the marble.)
For dinner, we had a buffet of parmesan-tossed asparagus, twice-baked potatoes, baron of beef carved on site, and mediterranean chicken (cream cheese inside, wrapped with bacon...omg.) We had so many people come up to us at our wedding to tell us it was the best wedding food they have ever eaten....that is totally what you want to hear at your wedding!!! My aunt, who makes the best pot roast you will ever eat in your life, said it tasted like her roast beef....so good job, Ranch! My tables, chairs &highchairs were also perfectly set up just as I asked them to be.
Our bartender, Carl, was AWESOME. Carl, we love you! We had an open bar of wine, beer, and champagne for which we supplied all of the alcohol. Carl was fun and made conversation with everyone. Our servers were Sonny, Jorge, and there were two other ladies whose names escape me, but all were AWESOME and on point the whole night. My day of coordinator said they helped her all day, and Jorge even made sure my train looked good right before I walked down the aisle. They truly went above and beyond and I hope management knows they have a really great team in those 5. They brought my husband and me a plate full of hors d'oeuvres while we were taking pictures while everyone else was at the cocktail hour...MUCH appreciated!!! We were so hungry at that point! (Also they were delicious...we chose mini turkey pot pies, filet mignon skewers, and bacon wrapped shrimp......mmm my mouth is watering!)
I wasn't made aware of this until after my wedding (I have the best bridal party ever that knew to shield me from any bad news that day!), but apparently, our cake fell apart on the way to the wedding in the truck! We had flower petals on the front of our cake that came together to make one big flower. I don't know the name of the girl who came to fix it, but she came to make it perfect, and she told Carl, the bartender, who told my husband, that it looked even better than before. What if Ranch didn't have excellent communication? What if no one thought it important enough to come fix it? BIG PROPS to Ranch for fixing what would have been a catastrophic wedding-day ruiner.
There were some MINOR snags at the wedding that I do need to point out...when it came time to cut our cake, they had not placed a cake cutter next to the cake. (I do not have enough space to complete my review, read my review on Yelp for Ranch events on Quivira!
They seemed like a good deal and too good to be true at first, and yes they were too good to be true. We went with them because they had a good price for the venue rental and food was cheap and included tables, linens, china, chairs, drink station, all for about $18/person (unbeatable). Their dates were filling up super fast and we didn't want to be engaged for years so we put down our deposit. Couple days later we went and worked out the details with our contract, all of the sudden there were these extra random charges and we were looking at 10k total (much more than we had calculated at their previously mentioned prices). Rhonda acted like she was cutting us a deal and said she would discount this and this since it was a Sunday and we were looking at 8k. Couple weeks later we came back for our taste testing, this is one thing that didn't get screwed up, I will say that their food and cake are delicious. Didn't have much contact with Rhonda for awhile until I went to pick out my linens. After bragging that they had over 4 million dollars worth of linens, the colors she pulled for me didn't match my colors at all. She pulled blues and oranges when my colors were wine, sage, and champagne. When I pointed this out, she told me my colors were strange and impossible to match. Strange to me, I picked these colors because they were easy to match with products from multiple vendors, and this coming from the woman with 4 million in linens. Whatever, went with Ivory Damask, I was getting annoyed and it looked alright day of. Couple weeks later we went again to give final numbers, this is when I lost my cool. I was over by about 10 adults on my count, no big it's only 18/head plus tax/tip. Well, that had somehow changed, it was now 53/head, and whereas previously kids under 10 were free, they were now the full cost if not in a high chair. BS, period. The new price per head came from the claim that those "discounts" had been her packaging me so no my price per person was the total divided by my original number. I never agreed to a package, let alone pricing that way. Plus the kids thing screwed me as I have a huge family with a ton of kids that I now had to pay for. We fought, I cried, and walked away paying an extra 2k that I didn't have, because hey what was I going to do 2 weeks out from my wedding. Fast forward to day of..... not enough chairs at ceremony half of the guests were standing, NO A/C (later she told my mom none of the buildings there had A/C because it was on the bay..BS the workers the day of kept assuring us it was on, and we have been to plenty of weddings at Marina Village where A/C was aplenty), rude/rude workers the day of, the day of "captain" spent the entire cocktail hour arguing with my mom - we had already pre-paid for an hour hosted and he was demanding payment from her..after promising a card machine for the rest of the bar, none was there..they took away the water/lemonade/tea stand early forcing people to go to the bar, which was accepting cash only, so people were thirsty with no A/c in the middle of August..the cake they provided and promised would have a specific flower on it, had a random bright purple flower all over it and made it stick out like a sore thumb..I could go on but I am running out of room
Beware-get every little thing no matter how minute in writing, and I hope you aren't working or have a life, you have to stay on them for everything, so much for 1 stop shop making life easie
We had to use Ranch as our caterer because they owned our reception venue; however, we were actually very pleased with their food and ended up being grateful that we were forced into using them! Our tastings were so much fun, and they had so many amazing options that it was hard for us to decide what to have at our reception. We heard wonderful things from our guests about the food, and we even got to take all the leftovers with us (so we could actually eat some!). Ranch is remarkably affordable and has such a broad selection of food items and serving styles that it seems like a no-brainer to use them for any wedding.
Rhonda the catering director started off as very friendly, knowledgeable & stated they had 100s of linen styles & colors so with that we decided to go with them. Once we decided to use them Rhonda was trying to have us purchase the all inclusive package which included the food, linens, china, flowers/decor & cake. Her tone & attitude changed when we told her we werent interested in using them for the flowers or cake and we got attitudes and "no's" after the deposit was given & contracts signed. She told us our wedding colors, which were deep purple & dark teal were very "unpopular" colors so we didnt have much to chose from for the linens. What ever happened with the "hundreds of shades?" The good thing is we were happy with the ONE shade of dark purple they had. We also had only two choices of china to pick from which were just ok. She added more unnecessary stress by rescheduling appointments & later on my wedding planner had informed me she had badmouthed me (very unprofessional). She kept changing the amount she had originally quoted us (she did this on two seperate occassions) we thought we had straightened it out and at the end told us we owed them more then we did SO annoying especially when dealing with so many other things so close to the wedding day. The day before my wedding she sent me an email stating they dont have the dark teal afterall (very disappointing) all along she blamed the linen and their accounting department for the mistakes (never taking responsibility for anything)
She caused me a lot of sleepness nights leading up to my wedding day. I had struggled with her so much I was confident everything was going to go wrong day of. On the day of my wedding however, everything turned out BEAUTIFULLY (I was missing the teal!).. the staff knew my venue very well and they were all on point, professional and courteous...the food was amazing and if it wasnt for Rhonda I wouldve given Ranch Events 5 stars. The onsite staff is what helped make my wedding reception run smoothly. Bottom line, I would recommend them because their finished product was great. If you decide to go with them and you work with Rhonda, have patience, expect to have your appts rescheduled and her being all over the place... have most of your communications through emails and save everything until after the fact, believe me that saved me.
I really loved all of the food provided by Ranch Events. We had Salmon with Mango Salsa, Bacon Wrapped Chicken Stuffed with Cheese, Filet Mignon and a Portabello Wellington for our Entree options. The customer service was less than great in terms of choosing the menus, table settings, flowers and cake. They are full service so that could be why it was not the best in terms of organization.
Ramon was our Catering Manager... he is an amazing guy! His demenor is very calm and during a stressful time (such as planning a wedding) this is what a bride needs. He listened to my vision and my budget and came up with a package that met both our needs. I can't say enough about what an asset he was!
Day of the wedding we had several mistakes that I feel would have been easily avoided if Ramon would have been there, but Ranch Events overbooked Ramon and he had other events to oversee, which unfortunately reflected poorly at my event. Ramon did compensate us for the errors that took place but this by no means makes things right!
Mixed Reviews:
Ramon 5 stars
Food 4 stars
Waiters 2 stars
Mistakes 0 stars :(
I used Ranch Events for my rentals. They were very reasonable and Omar was great. He answered all of my questions and didn't mind me calling to ask all sorts of questions.
Ranch Events made all the difference in our wedding day. We worked with Rhonda and boy, did she deliver! Our entire experience with Ranch Events--from the tasting, to the event planning meetings, to the wedding day itself, were amazing and memorable. They make it so easy for you to plan your wedding, because they take care of absolutely everything. The food was delicious, the cake was delicious and beautiful, and they are super easy to work with. They were more than happy to work with our budget and I highly recommend them to couples who are looking to make their day fabulous without sacrificing their life savings, LOL. My only disappointment with them was the florist that they had assigned us. After expressing our discontent with the florist, Rhonda worked hard to get us our refund. Our wedding turned out beautiful and relatively stress free thanks to Ranch Events.
When we first chose Ranch events we were really happy. Our coordinator Ramon was extremely helpful and attentive. Then about 2 weeks before the wedding everything changed.
First, Ramon had told us that if we purchased the mexican buffet for our reception a woman making handmade tortillas would be included in the cost. I came to find out that we were charged extra for this service. Further, Ramon suggested that she could be outside making the tortillas as a sort of entertainment for our guests during cocktail hour and that she could even make little quesadillas for them. Easier said than done. We should have gotten this in writing. A few days before the wedding I was told the tortilla lady would be in the kitchen and no one would see her. My husband confronted Ramon and when all was said in done he was told that we could have the tortilla lady outside making quesadillas if we provided the cheese, plates and napkins. Are you kidding me? We were already planning on spending thousands of dollars to have them cater the buffet. They could provide that stuff?! We found out after the wedding that they didn't even use the plates and napkins and cheese wasn't even part of the main buffet!! While the food was good, the troubles we had with Ramon were not worth it. Also, it turns out that if our guests were away from their seat when they were serving the cake, they didn't get any. We went home with an ENTIRE sheet cake that never got served. As far as I am concerned, EVERY seat should have had cake at it, so when our guests were done dancing or came back from wherever they were, cake would be waiting for them.
Use Ranch events with CAUTION and GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING!!!!
Great quality food, tremendous flexibility, efficient responses, great price!!
We decided to go with Ranch Events because it was a one stop shop. I liked the idea of Ranch Events because you could get all of your rentals, cake, food, and pretty much anything else you wanted from there and it would be one big fee. The Ranch Events is rather over priced. We got the Mexican Buffet for dinner and I asked for shredded chicken which, when I went to get my plate, none of the chicken was shredded. After starting 25 minutes late for dinner because the food wasnt started on time, I was pretty upset. The cake was suppose to be 3 different flavors and after cutting into all of them, it ended up only being 2 different flavors and the flavor that we really wanted wasn't one of them. The dance floor was the biggest upset. We asked for 16x21 and we got 12x12 and my mother in law had to go to home depot 20 minutes before the ceremony to get plywood because the dance floor was breaking apart. When someone would step onto the dance floor it would sink in and it was very unsafe. I would not recommend Ranch Events to anyone.
We used Ranch Events for our catering as well as our cake. The food was wonderful but the cake was amazing and the price was insanely amazing!! We had beautiful white orchids cascading down our 3 tier cake. We had 3 different flavors too (my favorite was the white chocolate rasberry). In the price Ranch includes a groom's cake. We emailed them the Jacksonville Jaguar's logo (jaguar's head) and they put it on the cake and it looked exactly like the image I gave them. Don't know how they did it but it was amazing. Also included is a 1 year anniversary top layer of our cake for us so that we could cut up the whole cake at the wedding. Ranch was awesome!!!!!
