We met with Carol after a brief phone call, and since we lived in Montpelier, she offered to show us the facility and let us stay for free in the honeymoon suite for the night! She made us dinner reservations that evening, and she gave us a tou...r around the place.
Each room at the inn is named after a member of what I think was the original family who owned the property, they all have their own “personalities”. The rooms in the main bldg are smaller and more affordable, while the rooms lying in the surrounding buildings were a bit larger and have some nice amenities like hot tubs, fireplaces, and televisions. All the rooms have an old-timey new England Ski town feel, but all the modern amenities are provided. There is even a common room in the main building where guests can use the fridge, enjoy some fresh baked cookies, pop some complimentary popcorn, or have some tea/coffee!
The grounds include an outdoor Jacuzzi, a small pond dotted with lily pads, and gardens from which I’ve seen the chef picking fresh herbs and vegetables. They also are home to a stately apple tree, which was adorned with twinkling white lights both on the day we visited and on the evening of our wedding.
After a fantastic night of eating and touring, we ended up choosing to have our wedding at the Red Clover in August. Our parents and bridal party stayed right in the inn with us- site fees were waived, because they assume your guests will book all 13 rooms of the inn. They closed for our wedding weekend. The weekend of, I noticed there were thoughtful details all over the inn, such as wedding weekend schedules printed on chalkboards around the common areas, and another chalkboard at the check in entrance welcoming our guests!
The Clover caters all weddings held there, and they built us a creative and unique family-style menu not only for our wedding, but for our rehearsal dinner as well. Chef Jake outdid himself in creating the menu from scratch based on our few ideas. The rehearsal dinner was barbecue with multiple deliciously smoked meats and proteins, and our wedding dinner was a family style farm-fresh variety of dishes that amazed all of our guests. I can also attest to their dinner menu on a typical evening, and it was phenomenal.
Carol, as the point person for events, was responsive, flexible, and she has years of expertise and a great talent for wedding planning/ guidance. She was integral in making sure the vendors were all on the same page, and that the ceremony and reception went as planned. She worked with us on every detail, and anything we noticed that wasn’t going as planned she worked with us prior to the event to make sure we would be completely happy.
On the day of the wedding, Carol, as well as Brittany, made sure our reception and ceremony had a unique, beautiful and festive look (we had some ideas for décor, but not a fleshed out picture)Anyway, both Carol and Brittany made sure our wedding looked better than either of us had planned.
Our guests would not stop telling us how our wedding was the best they had been to in years, and how beautiful the Red Clover was for a destination wedding – we couldn’t be happier with everything they did for us to make our day as special as it possibly could be. We will definitely be back for dinner – we are already planning it for our one year anniversary
Special thanks to all the staff- Chef Jake, Carol, Brittany, Ethan and all the fantastic bartenders as well. We had a blast!!!
