We were married here in 2022, and I hesitated to write a review for the longest time because our day as the married couple was amazing, however, our family and vendor's experiences with the male venue owner were the exact opposite.
The good: The venue is naturally very pretty, and therefor our photos were amazing! I loved the ceremony space once we brought in benches (they didn't provide chairs at that time), and we were able to spruce up the arch with flowers that naturally accented the space. The river is stunning! The cabin by the water makes for a great photo opportunity. The female owner was very sweet during the booking process. Our family did a great job making sure we didn't know about all of the issues that were secretly going on so that our day was still magical, and we had a lovely dance party on the green.
The bad: The male owner yelled at all of our family, vendors, and guests in the parking lot during arrival, as well as at the end of the night. We only had 105 guests (including the vendors), and there was definitely not enough parking despite being told there was during the booking process. He told guests that it's "not his fault if the neighbors got them towed for parking on the road" and we "should've carpooled better". He did not offer assistance or solutions. We had guests running to the ceremony space right as I was about to walk down the aisle because of the parking lot issues. The male owner was also rude to our caterer about where they parked. The bathrooms clogged during the 1st hour of our reception and we were told there's "nothing they can do". The wifi cut out during the ceremony, so our grandparents couldn't watch the ceremony remotely. At the end of the night when a guest asked if they could leave their car, the male owner yelled that he "didn't care if he drove home drunk" because it wasn't his problem. The venue makes you leave and have everything cleaned up by 10pm sharp. There is no wiggle room on this or you are charged per hour. We were charged $250 from our damage deposit for the following reasons:
- The car being left there safely and picked up by 9am (This is something that ALL venues should understand and have a solution for if alcohol is allowed to be served on site. Especially in a remote area with windy roads.)
- A garbage bag breaking during the clean up that the guests/family, not the venue, are required to do.
- The rental company CORT coming to pick up the rentals on Sunday, as pre-planned with the venue and our planner.
Overall, our wedding was gorgeous, but hearing all of the disturbing experiences that our guests, vendors, and family were covering up for us throughout the day was heartbreaking. I wish the venue's professionalism and attitude would've held up during our wedding day to more than just us.
My husband and I got married last week at River Valley Oasis and really could not have imagined a more fitting location for us to begin our married life together. RVO was the first and only venue we toured because we just knew it was the one for us the first time we saw it. The price is a great value with tables, chairs, yard games, a sound system, a groom room(right on the river!), a bridal Suite(with light up mirrors & a steamer), four restrooms with running water, a fridge to store beverages or keep food cold, a huge white tent for reception, plentiful parking and more, all included. The setting is absolutely stunning and private with the river just feet away from both the ceremony and reception locations and trees all around you. It is a great location and truly an Oasis. James and Jamie were so easy to work with and wonderful with communication. Anytime we had questions or wanted to visit the venue, they were quick to accommodate us. We really appreciated the flexibility with vendors and being allowed to bring in prepared food to save money. There's also minimal need for decoration due to the natural beauty that is River Valley Oasis. Thank you so much for everything, having our wedding at your Venue was truly a dream.
This was such a beautiful place to have a wedding. Definitely recommend to anyone that wants a boho wedding.
Also the vendors themselves,Jamie and James are amazing and so sweet.
My Husband and I had our wedding here in late September 2018 and this venue is just absolutely beautiful!!! River front view, surrounded by nature and trees, and the property itself is so well maintained we didn't need much decoration at all. We were the first wedding to have occurred there and at first sight(back in May) it definitely seemed to be a work in progress but every time we visited during our engagement the area just improved tremendously (this is over a 5 month period !)!! I cant wait to visit again someday and see how much the place has grown.
I was beyond excited we found such a perfect place for our wedding right in our own home town and at such an affordable price. This venue is perfect for weddings going for a whimsical, natural, fairytale style. The owner Jamie is very sweet and really tried to accommodate all my wishes for the big day. The only things that were a struggle to navigate with was catering and communication. Jamie had a preferred cater that could not fit our budget. The good news is you don't have to do the preferred cater, the bad news is you don't have access to the on site kitchen or to the sinks in the kitchen. Suggestion? Food trucks. As for communication, there were times when we were told one thing and then not allowed to do the things we had initially agreed upon in the end. Suggestions? Know the contract like the back of your hand and if anything is agreed upon after the contract is signed, get it in writing! But really those were the only things. In the grand scheme of things those issues didn't phase the big day one bit. It was the happiest day of my life and my wedding felt so complete at River Valley Oasis. I can not thank Jamie enough!
Sincerely,
Mrs. and Mr. McManus
