We initially found McCoy Wedding Photography on instagram and the Knot where we were drawn to her photography style and edits. When we hired Kay to capture our wedding ceremony and reception and had a wonderful experience. After our initial consultation, we decided to book Kay’s largest package to cover the entirety of our event. Kay was efficient, made us feel very comfortable the entire day, and was able to arrange/manage our family members with ease. A couple weeks after our wedding, we received our sneak peaks. We could not have been more content with the photos we received. They were beautiful and captured our day perfectly!

Kay truly has a gift when it comes to capturing wedding and engagement photos. I was blown away, almost in tears, when I saw our photos. They were relaxed, natural, romantic, and overall just stunning. I’ve received so many compliments on how special and beautiful my photos are. Kay is also so sweet and easy to work with. She gives pointers and suggestions the entire time to help guide you into the right poses and keep you relaxed. She is also very responsive and easy to work with. I am so grateful and so happy with our photos, they are better than I could have ever imagined and such a beautiful memory of our day. Kay’s photos capture the light perfectly and have so much movement which truly sets them apart. 10/10 would recommend !!!

This review is long overdue but I have to share our incredible experience with Kay! Our original wedding date was 4/26/20 so unfortunately we had to postpone not once but twice. Throughout the entire process and even beforehand, Kay was so helpful and a great communicator (I had heard stories about vendors going dark for a while without notice so I was relieved to have such a great experience with Kay). She shot our engagement photos in 2019, our intimate legal wedding ceremony in 2020 and our “I do, redo” ceremony and reception in 2021. My fiancé and I initially felt awkward going into our engagement photos but Kay made us feel so comfortable and kindly guided us through all of it - we ended up with amazing photos time and time again. We had a similar great experience for both ceremonies and the big reception. We loved how sweet, fun yet professional Kay was through it all. Photography is such an important investment and we’re so grateful that we have three amazing galleries that we will cherish forever. Thank you, Kay!!

If you want photos that are exceptionally special, pick Kay. She's a joy to work with and she really makes magic happen! Within just a few seconds of meeting her for our engagement shoot, I felt as though I had met her before. Her adorably friendly persona made me and my husband feel so comfortable in a sometimes awkward situation (we aren't used to professional photos!). She made us laugh and made the entire experience fun. But most importantly, I TRUSTED HER. She knows what she's doing like a true professional and always has your best interest at heart. Kay is such a wonderful photographer and makes you feel completely comfortable taking photos. I was a little worried about my husband taking pictures because he can be a little stiff, but she made it work and he felt very comfortable. Kay is so good at communicating and responding to which is so helpful when planning a wedding. Something that I will always appreciate was when planning our engagement photos Kay saw it was going to be a gloomy and dark day and reached out to me that morning and offered me other available days to reschedule if I wanted. We met on a later sunnier day and got such pretty pictures. I am so glad she cared enough to make sure we got the perfect pictures.

Kay creates magic. She is absolutely amazing! We were thrilled to work with her for both our engagement and wedding photos. She is super professional, friendly, fun and such a pleasure to collaborate with. It is clear to see the care and dedication she puts into her work and into the relationships with her clients. She was a HUGE advocate for us on the day of our wedding to ensure we got photos we wanted when we wanted them. During our time with her, she guided us every step of the way, and made us both feel so comfortable. We will forever be grateful for the beautiful moments Kay captured of our special day. I vividly remember several candid moments during our wedding & ceremony where I thought to myself "I would love to keep a snapshot of this memory forever." When we got our photos back, I was brought to tears of joy, as Kay captured those exact candid moments and they were even more beautiful than I remembered. I will also say, when you get your photos back, they are ALL just so amazing, you are definitely going to have a hard time narrowing down your favorites! I’m so happy we have these beautiful memories to treasure forever and I look forward to working with her again!

I am SO HAPPY that we found Kay to photograph our wedding. She was super communicative throughout the entire process and very easy to work with. Like others have said, she really makes you feel comfortable in front of the camera. Our pictures came out amazing - I couldn't have asked for more.

Where do I begin. We recently got our photos and video back from our wedding and I'm OBSESSED. They seriously look like they were taken from a bridal magazine. Photography was extremely important to us and I literally researched and looked up almost every possible option in southern California in my budget range and after looking over Kay's work I knew we had to have her. The moment we posted our engagement pictures I had 6 DMs wanting her contact info because they were that good. And honestly...she could seriously be charging more for the quality you get. We almost didn't get the video because we had heard so much mixed feedback from friends/family on whether it was worth the money or not. Let me tell you, ITS WORTH IT. I've literally watched it ten times in the past month. I'm a little picky when it comes to this stuff and I wanted it to come off professional and classy if that makes sense....and they hit it out of the park. Kay and her team were so great and easy to work with. I also later found out how much she advocated for me on my actual wedding day when she saw things going awry with our venue. THIS is the type of vendor you want, someone thats going to look out for you like a best friend. I'd give her 10 stars if I could. I don’t have enough words to rave about Kay. She was absolutely the best person we could’ve hired for our big day. From our engagement pictures to our wedding day, she was amazing! My wife and I are very shy and have a quiet personality, but she was able to work with us, make us feel comfortable, and allowed us to have fun in the whole process! She definitely brought out the spark and playfulness in us! Not to mention, that she will do whatever it takes to get the perfect shot, if it means kicking out everyone and their mom out of the way to ensure that you feel special and the day it’s about you, you can trust that she will have your back! Her style and her creativity make our pictures come out incredible! Please hire her!

This is long overdue! My fiancé and I got engaged late October 2020, and one thing we really wanted was to do our engagement photos in the sand dunes. With Covid, we didn’t have a set wedding date but we knew we wanted these pictures in this location. We contacted Kay, and she responded back to us quickly to help get our dream shoot set up. Kay was more than willing to drive the distance for us and throughout the entire process leading up to the day of shoot she was very helpful. She helped me put together my outfits and even showed me where to order the attachment that MADE our photos. She is also the best hype man and will do anything for the shot :). My fiancé and I have nothing but great things to say about Kay. She’s professional, has an incredible sense of urgency, her photos are amazing and most importantly she can make your dreams come true!!!! Kay is the best.

Kay is literally the best!! From our first phone conversation I knew I needed her to take our wedding photos. She helped us coordinate engagement photo outfits and stayed in communication with us the entire year before the wedding, making sure everything was going accordingly due to Covid. Her final photos and attention to detail while editing are unmatched. Also, she was super flexible and always thinking of ways to incorporate our fur baby into pictures with us!

We worked with Kay for our engagement photos and our wedding and she made everything so easy! Both of us are pretty awkward people so we weren’t sure what to do or what to expect when it came to our engagement photos but we were amazed with how good they came out. Kay made sure to make us feel comfortable and told us exactly what we should do so we didn’t need to worry about anything. Having this engagement session with Kay prior to the wedding made us SO much more relaxed when it came to the wedding day; we knew how great Kay was and it was just one less thing for us to worry about. We ended up being able to have our wedding during the pandemic as scheduled and Kay made sure to reach out and ensure us that she would still be able to do our wedding, which with everything else going on was a much appreciated relief. We highly recommend using Kay for your engagement and/or wedding photos!!

Kay is phenomenal!! Her work is beautiful. She captures the most special moments for every couple in the most magical way! There is so much to say when Kay is the topic! Literally what you read on her bio is what you will receive. She means it when she said “build a deeper connection with her couples.” Planning a wedding during COVID-19 was no joke and constantly changing my plans. But I can honestly say having Kay by our side was just a relief. I asked her for advice and she gave me the honest truth; I am also not one to show that much affection & on my wedding day she reassured me that it was okay to feel everything I was feeling. Now, about her work and work ethic, it is creative, professional, and authentic. She came well prepared to both our engagement shoot & wedding day. She was also very focused on my wedding day. It ended up being a intimate wedding without a coordinator and she handled the shoot as if she had an assistant helping her. I can go on, but as a bride speaking to another, you will not regret making Kay part of your best day. She will make your moment even more special.

We had to go back and forth multiple times to find a date that worked but Kay was easy to talk to and understanding through this process. Finding words to describe my experience with Kay is going to be hard. She was absolutely amazing! My not husband and I were planning our entire wedding out of state which made it really difficult. She was so patient with us and was so understanding. When the wedding day came around obviously everything is very overwhelming but she kept me so calm and ensured that we stayed on time with everything. The day after the wedding she already had a few pictures back for me (THIS DOES NOT ALWAYS HAPPEN). Everyone goes through the wedding blues and to be able to see some of our best moments made us so happy. I already referred her to a few of my friends that are getting married because I know they will love her just as much as I did.

Kay is a phenomenal photographer, and person. She is prompt, easy to talk to, and knows how to get things done. My husband and I are not the best at posing for photos, and she made the entire experience so easy and comfortable. Her personality is amazing! She knows just how to handle any situation, and has a way with people. My friends, family, husband and I were so lucky to have her there on our special day. Our photos for both our engagement session and our wedding were absolutely stunning! I could not have asked for anything better. She is a true artist, and working with her is an absolute joy. Kay is the absolute, most amazing photographer ever!! Booking her for our wedding was the BEST choice I could have made! She is so much fun to be around and makes everyone feel super comfortable and relaxed, even if you’re not used to being in front of a camera! So my husband and I did both our engagement and wedding day photos done by Kay. We’re waiting on wedding day photos but I already know they will come back beautiful because we LOVED our engagement photos. She did her best to make us feel comfortable and made it more of a fun experience and playful rather than just having us pose. It was the perfect combination of a couple “traditional” poses and a good amount of playful/intimate moments she captured. She even went out of her way to contact the venue herself asking if we could have more time to take photos before the wedding for our first look and bridal party pictures which was so nice of her. I couldn’t have asked for a better photographer for one of the most important moments in our life.

Where to start!! Kay is amazing, she did both our engagement photos and our wedding. She made me feel confident and beautiful! She didn’t feel like a photographer, but a long time friend. She was great working with, so wonderful getting shots I wouldn’t have even thought of. Overall I couldn’t recommend her more! She did so great with the venue and was super knowledgeable on timing with the sun and how to take advantage of every minute of light! She caught so many special moments, and knew how to direct my rowdy family. I would hire her again 10 times over, you will not regret it!

I have been waiting to write this review until I received my gallery but I knew that I would only be able to have good things to say. We are in awe of our photos, from the candid moments to the portraits, every picture is beautiful! Kay is an amazing photographer and person. My husband and I looked at so many different photographers through searches until someone mentioned to look via Instagram hashtags, that’s when I found Kay. I kept clicking on photos I liked and they all were from her! Once I spoke with her on the phone prior to booking I knew I could not imagine having anyone else be our wedding photographer. She is so easy to communicate with, she has so much experience, and she was available to answer questions I had throughout the entire process, from outfit ideas for the engagement shoot to wedding day timeline. The location for our Bridal party photos she suggested and immediately I could not think of anywhere better. On the day of our engagement session and wedding day she really brought out the beauty in us, made it fun and made us feel comfortable in front of the camera. She truly goes completely above and beyond. Both her and her second shooter were able to give us insight and advice on the day of to help the day run smooth. My fiancé and I have loved working with Kay from the start. We stumbled upon her through the Knot and contacted her, in which we got quite a quick response. Once we were in touch, she showed us her expertise in photography by helping us plan our wedding timeline according to when the sun would be out and have good lighting. We did our engagement shoot with her as well which was included in our package. I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out! Everyone who I’ve showed them to says that they are the best photos they’ve seen because we are candid and she really captured our love for one another. Also, you can tell how detail oriented she is with the editing—it’s not a one size fits all. She spends time on each picture individually making every detail count. My fiancé and I looked at what seemed like hundreds of photographers before finding Kay. But when we saw her work, we immediately fell in love. After speaking to her over the phone, we knew we had to book her. She was so easy to talk to, and so knowledgeable about her craft. We instantly felt so much more at ease about the scary wedding process. When we met her for engagement photos, we were very nervous. Neither my fiancé nor I are comfortable in front of the camera. But Kay knew exactly how to coach us and managed to capture the most amazing shots. Within a few hours, we already had some edited images as a sneak peak of the session. Kae was an absolute pleasure to work with from the start. She was able to customize our wedding photography package to best suit our budget, and was so understanding and kind in the way that she communicated with us! Our experience with her for engagement photos was wonderful - I’m usually so shy in front of a camera, and she was able to help me being out my best personality in the photos (which turned out so great!), so when the wedding came around I was already comfortable working with her. With each session, she sends out a couple of photos the night of, which is SO appreciated. She’s very professional, inclusive, fun, and just great at her work. I would highly recommend!

If you're looking for a photographer who is easy-going, professional, and very responsive and honest, then look no further! Kay McCoy & one of her associate photographers, Ed, are the best to work with. She is so booked up due to popular demand, and yet still tries very hard to accommodate your schedule and important timelines. If she can't do it herself, then she involves her associate photographer(s) as a great alternate option who will deliver the same levels of consistency and dedication as Kay. She also does the editing herself, and is so prompt with the end results. My husband and I are grateful.

I couldn't be happier with Kay, I hired her to do our engagement photoshoot, and our wedding day pictures - she outdid herself. My husband and I have never taken professional photos before, so it was difficult for us to get in the groove of feeling natural or sassy, but Kay makes you feel beautiful, confident and comfortable. There are few reasons why I originally chose Kay, one being her communication. She is so prompt at returning emails, calls, and texts, which is a really big deal to me. She never made me feel like my questions were annoying (which I know they were) or tedious, she helped me decide on an outfit for the engagement shoot and was all around attentive to my questions or concerns. The two other main reasons why I decided to move forward with Kay as our photographer was her rates and her actual photography, I shopped around a lot before making my decision. Her pricing is very reasonable especially for how perfect the quality is. I love how she is so candid with her shots, not just one, two, three smile, she takes shots when you are not looking and those tend to be the best! When we took our engagement portraits, it was cloudy and overcast, but that did not show through in the portraits! I was having a hard time with my wedding schedule, but Kay swooped in and spent over an hour with me on the phone breaking it down and making sure the timeline would be perfect for her to get her shots in. kay also had excellent communication with the DJ so I didn't need to worry about anything on the day of. On the wedding day, Kay arrived early to scope out the area - she ended up choosing a spot that I never would have thought as being a picturesque area, but YUP leave it to Kay because that spot was beautiful! She has such a keen eye for her surroundings. I was so nervous while I was putting on my wedding dress and she did an excellent job at calming me down and making sure I had a good time. During the first look, she took the pictures and then gave my husband and I a few minutes to ourselves, which really meant a lot to me - never making me feel rushed, even though we were on a tight schedule. I am obsessed with her work, she is so creative and takes such unique portraits that really makes us stand out. She is kind, sweet and so much fun!! The portraits she takes are out of this world creative. She genuinely cares about her clients/job! Her portraits speak for themselves, she is AWESOME and I 100% recommend her! Kay was absolutely the best throughout our entire engagement photos. She is so personable and super sweet. My fiancé and I were a bit nervous because it was our first time ever getting our pictures taken. Kay made the the entire shoot super fun! Not only is she super responsive, but she is honest. Kay was an amazing photographer and captured our special day perfectly. Even though we had a simple elopement, the moments she captured were absolutely amazing. Kay was such an amazing person to work with and super affordable. We added the additional photogropher for the wedding day and it just made the day go so smoothly! KAY IS AMAZING. I swear to God, Kay is the sweetest person, she is SO TALENTED, and inexpensive! On our initial phone call we discussed the timeline of the wedding day so we could figure out what we could all get done photo-wise during the time allotted. After chatting for a little, she eventually threw in an extra hour of photo for free! On top of that, she through in a free engagement shoot for my husband and me (I couldn't afford the engagement shoot). When planning for us to come to Orange County for our shoot (we live in Reno) things got messed up and we weren't able to do the shoot. So, she offered to come fly to Reno on HER DIME for the FREE engagement shoot she offered me. I'm telling you, if you guys want amazing photos, and someone who you can really connect with and feel comfortable with come your big day, choose Kay!!! Thank you for everything, Kay! You captured our big day with so much fun and beauty!

Kay not only replies super fast but is an amazing photographer. I had a courthouse ceremony with a small dinner and she went to 3 different places to register all moments. I loved the pictures and she made me feel super comfortable.

What can I say that would justify how amazing Kay truly is at what she does! She is a true artist and so much fun to work with.
