About this vendor
The Bearsville Theater sits on 16 gorgeous acres in historic Woodstock, New York, the Catskill mountain town where the music revolution of the 1960s began. In this epicenter of music and the arts, the creative proprietor, Albert Grossman, nurtured the artists who were leaders of the uprising: Bob Dylan, The Band, Janis Joplin, Todd Rundgren, and many others that took the music world by storm. A multi-million-dollar renovation was completed in 2022 and today Bearsville is once again a magical place renowned for its role in the history of the world of music.

I was born and raised in the Hudson Valley but moved to LA where I met my husband. When we decided that we wanted to get married on the east coast, the first place that came to my mind was Bearsville. The space has undergone a beautiful restoration and renovation that is PERFECTLY set up for a unique wedding space. My husband and I first bonded over our love of music so once we decided on the space, we had a bunch of ideas for how to make our day unique and filled with that concert vibe. Ian and his team listened to every single one of our requests and made it happen. From making sure we could have the family style meal of our dreams (thank you also to Full Moon - the BEST wedding meal I’ve ever had), to having our escort wall of records, to our signature cocktails, to making sure our surprise wedding song went on without a hitch. You will NOT be disappointed with using Bearsville as your venue. It’s an incredibly special place.
As someone who used to go to the original Bear Cafe (before it was the Bear Cantina), I always thought the location was the perfect place for a wedding, so when my now husband and I were looking for a venue for our wedding, I was ecstatic to find the Bearsville Theater as a venue option. Before visiting, we had spent countless hours trying to find the perfect venue to accommodate our wants and needs, and our search had led to many disappointments. As soon as we stepped foot inside the Bearsville Park, we knew we had found the perfect venue. We were absolutely thrilled to have our wedding ceremony outside along the beautiful creek and found the Bearsville staff to be extremely accommodating to allow us to have the open air ceremony we had dreamed of (with a tent there for back up in case of unexpected weather). We spent most of the cocktail hour outside on their beautiful deck overlooking the creek. The reception was then mostly inside the theater, which was transformed into an amazing reception space with tables on the outer edge and stage of the theater, overlooking the dance floor in the center. Our guests also enjoyed the lounge area near the bar, which is separate from the reception space (but easily accessible) and talked about how it provided a nice break from the dance floor and a quieter place to catch up and relax. Ian, Chris, and the Bearsville team worked hard to make sure we got everything we wanted, including our niche desire to have Pimm's Cup as one of our signature cocktails. I was a bit of an anxious bride, and Ian was very kind and professional, making time out of his busy schedule to meet with us and speak with us about our preferences and provide us with reassurance. They were very willing to help us make our wedding what we wanted and allowed us to do a flower petal exit toss, which was one of my favorite moments of the day. Many of our guests raved about how beautiful the venue was, and one of our friends told us it was the most fun, unique wedding he had ever been to. One of our vendors was also surprised that we were one of only a few weddings because the wedding was executed so smoothly. A big thank you to Ian and the Bearsville team for making our wedding day perfect! (The photos included with the review were taken by our photographer, Stephanie Naru).
Our wedding at the iconic Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, NY was everything we dreamed of! We were the first wedding, and we put our full faith in the team and they far exceeded our expectations. In fact, no one knew we were the first wedding because it was that seamless. The professional staff exceeded our expectations and the service was truly phenomenal. All of our guests had an amazing time –– they still won't stop raving to us about the stunning streamside property, the gorgeous lobby and downstairs "museum" where they could read about the unbelievable musical legacy that Bearsville has. The Bearsville team was so accommodating to what we wanted our day to look and sound like. They allowed us to customize certain things, like bringing in a projectionist, or have a pop-tart bar for dessert! They just got it. They got that this was a special day, and they made sure that we felt taken care of so that we didn't have to worry. You know when you go to a wedding and the food is just okay? This wasn't the case. Our guests RAVED about the food, because it was legitimately good food, not just good "wedding" food. They even custom crafted cocktails for the day, and they were SO popular with our guests. The new Bearsville park in the back of the venue was so incredibly lovely, the perfect place for photos. At this venue, truly all parts of the day felt both hip and classic at the same time. If you're into music, this is such an iconic and awesome place for you to get married. It's really unlike the other venues in the area. It's quaint and cozy and comfortable, yet sophisticated and large enough for a big party. I need to reiterate again that I was the first wedding here, and I put that much faith in the team and they did NOT disappoint. This means your wedding here will be even more amazing. This beautiful venue was a wonderful place to get married and we would highly, highly recommend it to anyone looking to get married in the Catskills!
Looking beyond the typical Catskills barn venues, we found the perfect gem - Bearsville Theater. Set in the scenic Bearsville park, this cool, unconventional theater offered a distinct musically inspired aesthetic that truly set our wedding day apart.
The professionalism and dedication of the Bearsville team were commendable. A special mention must be made of our event manager, Ian. He was hands on and made our experience stress-free, going above and beyond to ensure our comfort and enjoyment, as well as that of our guests.
During the planning process, when we encountered obstacles, Ian and the Bearsville team were there with creative solutions, problem-solving with us to ensure things ran smoothly. The excellent food and distinctive ambiance were just the icing on the cake.
Our wedding at the Bearsville Theater was extraordinary. We wholeheartedly recommend this exceptional venue and team for a truly unique and memorable wedding experience.
