The Grand Event Center is a unique wedding venue about 45 minutes south of Minneapolis. We love the venue for its charm and that it is unique from most other venues. One of the best parts about The Grand is the convenience they offer. They can be the ceremony, the venue, the bartenders, and the caterers. This made everything extremely easy in the planning process. Lindsay and Jake are energetic, fun, and made our day so special. We are so thankful for them!
I cannot recommend The Grand Event Center enough! We and our 132 guests had an absolutely fantastic day. Bonnie is so easy to work with and answered every single question I had throughout the planning process (and there were many!). She and her staff provided excellent service all day! We received many compliments on the dinner Chuck prepared for us, and our guests loved the theatre vibe of the venue. We are over the moon with the service we received from everyone at The Grand!
We had our daughter’s wedding at The Grand on May 22, 2021. Chuck and Bonnie did an amazing job! They have been coordinating and hosting events for 21 years here. They helped make things workable all the way along even amidst Covid.
The Grand has a majestic look and is perfect for a wedding ceremony and reception. The food is fantastic; the service is top notch; the staff is accommodating. We appreciate the beautiful day Chuck, Bonnie, and the entire staff provided for our daughter, Kayla and son-in-law, Dylan.
From the very beginnin we had the most incredible experience with The Grand Events Center. Bonnie was welcoming, patient, and kind while we explained our vision of our wedding. Our tasting was like a special date for the two of us, and every question I had was promptly answered.
Where this venue really shined was the weekend of. They let us set up the day before, and Bonnie, angel that she is was there every step of the way. My mother is passed on, and Bonnie recognized I wasn't sure of what to do with a rehearsal and led it. She walked me back through it on the big day with love and compassion.
Every staff member was incredible, and I have been told by almost every guest that they had never been to a better wedding. I can't imagine being in better hands. I couldn't possibly recommend this venue enough.
We fell in love with Grand the first time we came to visit and so did our Guests. we got so many compliments from the Building, to the food, and the staff. We are so grateful for all of Bonnie's and Chuck's hardwork. It was a perfect day and a Perfect location (Northfield is also beautiful and price was absolutely perfect)
Highly recommend to anyone and everyone! Our wedding reception was held at The Grand...and we couldn't have chosen a better place! Not only was the venue unique, the food excellent, and the pricing so very reasonable (see website), but also Bonnie and Chuck were incredible to work with. They made everything so easy and personal every step of the way. We couldn't have had a better experience!
I seriously cannot say enough about how amazing our experience was with Bonnie, Chuck and the entire staff at The Grand. From the beginning of the planning process to the very end, they bent over backward to accommodate our every request. They even allowed us to drop off our decorations days in advance, when we were unable to bring them the day before the wedding. They did absolutely everything to make our day unforgettable. And at such an amazing price! Bonnie made both my husband and I feel like family throughout the entire process. I really cannot explain how warm and welcoming she is. Chuck is a hoot! Such a great guy and an even better chef! The food is outstanding and, again, it comes at a fantastic price. The bread is to die for! We had a minor hiccup at the end of the night (lost our car keys) and we were there past midnight searching for them. They were so understanding and did not seem inconvenienced in the slightest. I know that a lot of other places would have charged extra if we had stayed past midnight. It has been about two months since our wedding and people are still telling us how much they loved the venue and how unique it was! All in all, I would recommend The Grand to anyone searching for an unforgettable wedding venue!
This is a wonderful place to hold a wedding and reception. They truely are there to make your day special! Every thing we were promised from set-up, food, marque, pricing, and great service is what happened. No surprises and nothing forgotten. We would highly recommend this venue!
We held our wedding reception at The Grand in November of 2016 and couldn't have had a better experience. Bonnie was fantastic throughout the entire process, from first contact to clean-up. Her experience in the industry was a great resource to us, and she even provided her cell phone number for quick response to our questions. She treats everyone like their event is her 1st priority. The Grand is incredibly flexible with special requests and timelines, willing to change the guest count the day-of, which saved us money on those late RSVP's! We were able to decorate the day before (since there was not an event that night), and everything was ready when we arrived. The venue fee, food and drinks are all very reasonably priced, and you can bring in your own cocktail hour snacks at no additional charge. They remembered to set a place for our photographer, even when we forgot, and accommodated our handicapped guests seamlessly. The wait staff are well trained and very professional (you should tip them well!). Small town service cannot be beat! And the best food in town! Many of our guests raved about the venue, so very pleased with the memories made there.
They hosted my wedding (I'm the groom) and reception there in May 2017. Keep in mind I write this review after my honeymoon and I've had a chance to breathe and meditate on my opinions of the place. So, I can approach talking about this place with an even, clear head.
1 - For months we expected to be able to decorate the night before, and at the last minute they scheduled some sort of dinner and our prep-time became the day of, mere hours before the wedding itself. They didn't tell us this until the two days prior.
2 - While both sides of the family were there decorating, one of the owners insisted on touring another group through the venue. I can't say I was very happy with this, nor with them taking photos and video of my family during set up while exploring the place. Nor with their loud conference calls about the upcoming wedding they were planning on throwing. We had to talk loudly over them to direct people in our wedding party to get things done where and when they were supposed to. It was intrusive and infuriating. I thought WE had the building for the day, no one else!
3 - The parking lot is tiny, and the number of spaces were cut in half by in-active construction equipment parked there, outdated (police-posted) "no parking" signs from months previous, and stacks of raw building materials. Yes. Entire PALLETS of wood and stone just taking up space. We missed out on 6-8 parking places in an already small lot. A hand-full of my relatives had to park out in the freaking street!
4 - The marquee was not changed to reflect the event of my wedding (as promised to be part of the package) until 90 minutes before the ceremony itself started. We REALLY could've used that early in the morning while all the relatives from out of state were arriving and looking for the venue itself. I (the groom), the maid of honor AND the bride badgered one of the owners endlessly about this and it was not done until 90 minutes before the ceremony began.
The day couldn't have been more perfect! Everyone loved the venue, it is so unique and awesome. The staff is beyond wonderful! Everyone LOVED the food. I highly recommend people having their wedding here. It is definitely worth the little extra drive down to Northfield from the cities for this awesome venue in such a cute town.
Bonnie was phenomenal! She was there to help us every step of the way and made sure that everything was completely flawless.
What can I say about the Grand! They are wonderful! Bonnie is so amazing and made everything a breeze! I planned my wedding from Duluth to Northfield and she was so helpful with everything! It all flowed so smooth and my guests loved the food! I can't imagine having my reception anywhere else! Pick this place!!!
WOW! Chuck, Bonnie and the staff at The Grand went above and beyond our expectations! They include SO many "extras" that other venues are charging for it helped with the cost! Table linens, tea lights, cake cutting fees, water, coffee and bar pop... They even served sandwiches at 10:30! All included in the initial booking fee!
Our wedding and reception with 150 guests went smoothly thanks to the people at the Grand!
I couldn't be happier with the service we received. They were more than accommidating for everything. The price for what you get is second to none for anywhere I looked into for our reception in Minnesota. The price above included our alchocol, food, gratuity, space rental (Everything). They even setup much of the decor for me and have vases, table number holders, ect for use at no charge. Plus willing to let you bring in your own snacks (nuts, trail mix), candy, anything like that without the ridiculus upcharge other venues like to charge when they make you go through them.
Bonnie treated es like we were part of her family and was so excited for us as if she were part of ours. Words can't express all the extras she did for us before and the day of. The whole staff was more then willing to help us out when we had a delayed DJ and played music, announced us, and provided a microphone for the toasts. As well taking the burden out of contacting our dj company for us and correcting the problem.
I would highly recommend this venue to anyone. It is so unique and a beautiful space. The food was excellent, had nothing but complements on it from all the guests. Absolutely made our wedding day everything we wanted it to be.
The Grand is so beautiful. We had so many compliments on the elegance. We couldn't be happier with that. The food was amazing. We got compliments about the food for weeks after our wedding.
We held both our ceremony and reception at The Grand. Bonnie, the event coordinator, is awesome. She is very accomodating, has everything down pat and thinks of everything so that nothing unexpected can come your way. Service staff and bar staff were amazing, food was delicious, venue is gorgeous. If I had to do it all over again I would 100% pick The Grand Event Center and I will recommend to everyone I know.
We had our ceremony and reception here, and it just couldn't have been any better! Wonderful building, great people to work with, great food. Everyone of our guests was astounded by the place. Couldn't have asked for anymore! So romantic, intimate, and just beyond words. This is the place to have a wedding!
Bonnie at the Grand was amazing. She made everything go smoother then it should've and made my life so much easier. Would definitely recommend it to everyone and anyone.
The venue is absolutely beautiful and was very unique. The price was awesome. We loved working with the vendors themselves until the actual night of. I felt that the managers were upset and annoyed with us when we weren't sticking to our timeline. No one wants to feel annoying on their wedding day. Other than that, food was great and other service was great!
I cannot come up with enough positive words to describe our experience with The Grand. The staff was incredible, Bonnie was always available, so helpful- we just loved them. The food was delicious, down to the fresh baked bread and the late night snacks. We felt like we were always working with friends or family- it was such a good feeling to feel so taken care of. A+++++ all around!
My rating for The Grand Event Center could be nothing short of 5 stars for anything and everything. From the first time we walked in and met Chuck there was no doubt in either of our minds that this was where our wedding reception would be. Bonnie was fantastic and incredibly helpful. Everyone at the reception commented on how great the location was and three weeks after our wedding I am still getting people that I've seen regularly make sure they told me how great the place was. Two levels create an all inclusive venue where you can be at the bar just feet from the dance floor and in the middle of it all. Venue is only 1200 for a saturday and food is roughly $17 a plate. If you've done wedding searching you know this is not too shabby.Great venue! If you can, get it.
Our wedding reception at The Grand was perfect in every way. We LOVED working with the staff there. We were at ease throughout the whole process that all of the details would be executed flawlessly - and they were!!!
Another bonus - we were able to do more with our reception (more food, drinks and guests) because The Grand doesn't tack on many of the extra charges that other places do. Our dollars were able to stretch farther and we were able to do all of the things we wanted to do - and it was a ton of fun!
It's almost five years later, and people STILL tell us how awesome our reception venue was. Many people have told us that ours was their favorite wedding that they've been to. I think that speaks volumes to the site and staff!

The Grand was an excellent venue for our wedding reception! The food was amazing and the staff were all very helpful and accommodating. Bonnie, Chuck, and Mary were great to work with during the coordination of our event all the way up to the wedding night. The Grand can host a large number of people, however, our wedding was small but it was still the most perfect venue for our group.
The Grand is such a unique and fun venue! I couldn't have been happier with the service - everyone there definitely delivered what they promised! Communication was easy and efficient - both emails and phone calls were answered promptly. They know ALL of the local vendors for cakes, flowers, rentals, DJ's and bands which made coordination of the vedors easy as well. It was fun to plan and I didn't have to worry about a thing the day of our wedding. It went off without a hitch thanks to Bonnie and crew at The Grand!
We had an incredible experience at the Grand. Bonnie and Chuck bent over backwards to make the evening exceptional. They have obviously done this many times, yet each event is special to them. From the moment we walked in the door, we had no concerns. Everything was handled for us and we just got to enjoy the night. The venue itself is so unique and we received many compliments on the food. We could not be happier with our decision to have our reception at the Grand.

I love this place. We had both our wedding and reception at The Grand. It's so unique and full of character, much different than having it at a hotel. The staff were really on top of stuff and the food is amazing. They offer a ton of different bar hosting options and are really flexible. There is also no set amount you have to spend to have your event there.
The Grand did an exceptional job and was very reasonably priced. I would recommend them to anyone.
We had the best experience working with the Grand Event Center. The atmosphere is unmatched for the price. The staff that we worked with were amazing. Bonnie who helped us with many of the details was so professional and easy to work with. You really dont need many decorations since the place has such a unique look of its own. And Northfield by itself has many great locations for pictures and for your guests to enjoy themselves
The Grand was a wonderful event center. It wasn't your typical hotel or country club. The atmosphere alone will make your event memorable. All of my guests were impressed with the ambience. It was very romantic. The food is ok - not fancy, but it does the job and pleases most. The one thing I would say to anyone who chooses this venue is to make sure to sit down the week of your event with the event coordinator and ask what she still needs from you. Also, make sure to be very CLEAR what you are providing for your guests (liquor). We were charged for more wine than we had planned to set aside for guests. Originally I told the corrdinator that we only wanted a specific # of bottles of wine, but they ended up charging us for an unlimited amount. I was angry at first, but my guests really appreciated it so I got over it really fast. If it meant my guests had a good time, then I was ok with it (we had a long social hour). In conclusion: Loved the place, they were pleasant to work with... just make sure to be clear what you want and clearly communicate with the coordinator what your wishes are.
The Grand building is a renovated opera house theater that needs absolutely no direction for a wedding. It fit perfectly with our antique theme, with high vaulted silver ceilings, two box seats for special guests, and beautiful street lights up in the balcony. The staff was incredibly helpful and efficiently moved us from pictures to ceremony to reception all in the same room. We easily fit over 250 guests and had the option to hook up our own music to save money on the band. At an incredibly reasonable price, we were able to stay within our budget and get everything we needed and wanted for a venue. Plus, downtown Northfield is unique and has great little shops and cafes for guests to spend extra time in. Our favorite part was putting up a personalized message on the marquee, it truly made our day special. We were please 100% with the staff, service, and quality of our experience. I've been raving about The Grand for a year now since the wedding, and I just hope it can get some more great reviews!
THIS VENUE IS EXTRAORDINARY!! Everything is taken care of from setting out table decorations favors & flowers to staffing the event to insure meals are set out quickly. Awesome historic theater with tiered levels and original balcony excellent dance floor stage for headtable dining and post-dinner DJ or band. Sit-down meal service with homemade breads and starter salad. Loved it all!
