They say your wedding day will never be perfect, something will always go wrong. Not at the Desmond. Not a single thing went wrong (at least not that I knew about or could tell). The food and atmosphere were to die for. We got so many compliments on our day saying it was the best wedding our guests had ever been to. or people to book. By the time this was fixed a month before the wedding, 70 percent of our guests found other accommodations. Thank you Marriott for stepping up for dozens of guests. We also are having difficulty with the “benefit” provided for a food and drink credit, as they have added an additional term not in the contract that requires the credit to be used for a post brunch or after party. They have come up with a solution to just refund any charges on the room for food and drink. We never expected to meet the $250 credit but we appreciate the Desmond trying to fix the error. Make sure you only communicate in writing with this hotel and just reach out to more than your specific point of contact to make sure any issues don’t happen to you like our comedy of errors, albeit unintentional by the owners of the Desmond . To add another note, there are six weddings using this venue this weekend. The staff is incredible in the check in and restaurant. They are lovely in every way and a joy to interact with.

up and the Desmond did the rest. We were able to relax and enjoy the day because of their professionalism and preparedness. Our guests loved the food and property. The staff was friendly and went above and beyond. We also had our rehearsal dinner, farewell brunch, and after party at the Desmond. Having all the events at the Desmond was very convenient for out of town guests. Our guests loved the ease of being able to go up to their room after all the festivities. The package at the Desmond was an amazing value and also made the wedding planning simple. We loved our wedding!

. Our assigned wedding coordinator, Karen, was not available to us on the day of the wedding like she said she would be. She promised us she would be readily available, visiting us in our rooms, answering texts, and doing anything that needed to be done. She never visited either of our rooms and did not answer text messages. She didn't even retrieve us from our rooms when it was ceremony time and we walked down on our own to get lined up. We later found out that the reason she was so unavailable was because she was showing the venue to potential clients all day up until 15 minutes before our ceremony. This even means that some of our guests were not able to sit in the ceremony room because she was showing the room to potential clients. I found this very sales forward and not putting the client experience forward. There were a few issues with our reception that I found unprofessional. First, we had an issue with the hors d'oeuvres. We had a staff of butlers serving the food and the Desmond includes a 22% service charge (aka tip) in their bill, so the staff was tipped. However, a table of guests had given an extra tip to some servers to have them bring fresh food directly to their table. This means that servers actively passed by other guests and even refused some guests that stopped them because they had to make it to the guests table that tipped them. While this table should not have tipped them, I think the staff should never have accepted this tip because my guest did not get the same experience. There were many guests that did not get to try something and that was definitely in part due to the servers going right to one table. In regards to the bar service, I had asked for an Aperol spritz to be my signature cocktail. When the day came, it was very clear that the bartenders did not know how to make it. I just think a little bit of prep and practice could have been put in to make my experience better. \ Lastly, the Desmond provides an amazing and helpful service where they will clean up all of your provided decor and pack it up ready for you to retrieve in the morning. However, there were a few hiccups. First and most importantly, our gifts/cards box was not locked up like they said it would be. That means that there was about $8,000 worth of cash just sitting out unlocked and vulnerable to anything that could have happened. Also, our remaining wedding cake was simply put into one of the random bins without telling us. I put the bins in my car and later returned tot the front desk to retrieve the cake because I assumed it would have been refrigerated separately. It was not. They leave it out all night and since they didn't tell me it was in the bin, it even sat in my hot car for at least an hour before I figured out it was in there. I really think the Desmond should have refrigerated it and also packed it separately so that this would not have happened. All this to say, our wedding was beautiful and I do not regret using the Desmond. Our guests keep telling us that it was one of the most amazing and beautiful weddings they had been to and were very complimentary of Kevin after he took over for Karen. If you consider the Desmond, I would just advise you to use a coordinator that is not Karen and ask many questions to make sure they do not cut corners.

f you are having your wedding in the surrounding area. It is close to multiple shopping centers, restaurants, and other activities for your guests. It also has a great lobby, bar, and terrace setup for welcome drinks, after parties, and wedding brunches. The staff and management was great about communicating throughout the entire process and many of our guests complimented the property. We would recommend the Desmond for your wedding weekend.

He went above and beyond and really made our vision a reality. We had such a large wedding but Kevin reassured us that it would fit and it did! We knew they would handle all the details on wedding day, and they led us seamlessly through our event with care and joy! We never had to worry for a moment, and we were able to enjoy everything! Multiple things went wrong with other vendors but Kevin and Andy showed up and I didn't even notice! They worked great with our vendors and handled cake delivery/floral delivery/band details/etc. with ease. Many of our guests remarked that this was the best wedding they had ever been too. We can’t recommend the Desmond enough!

The terrace room and ballroom were gorgeous!! Guests were blown away! The food and presentation was spectacular!!! He was there to answer all of our questions and make helpful suggestions along the way. Our cocktail hour and reception went so smoothly. As a bride and groom, it was such a relief to not have to worry about anything - our night of coordinator (also named Kevin) was always there to make sure everything went as planned and that we and all of our guests were happy. The entire team at the Desmond went above and beyond to make it an enjoyable night for everyone, and not only were they great at their job, but they were all so nice. After the tasting, we struggled to choose the menu only because every single thing we tried was delicious. Our guests are still raving about the food. They also appreciated the convenience of having a reliable and clean hotel right on site. We could not be happier with our entire experience at the Desmond. And it was! Beautiful is an understatement! I was completely in awe of how gorgeous the venue looked, they handled all our of decor and items provided with care, even shifting decors from ceremony to cocktail hour to reception in ways that truly brought tears to my eyes. It was more than we could've ever dreamed of! Karen was there the day of the ceremony, from directing the ceremony, prepping me to walk down the aisle, and being there for the bustling of my gown! She brought a calming presence that any bride will appreciate! Our guests RAVED about all of the food, how delicious everything was -- especially the Dim Sum station at cocktail hour! The staff was extremely attentive to my husband and I, we truly were never empty handed or bellies not full. They really made us feel like stars, especially our personal point person at the reception Andy. Lastly, we had a lot of out of towners who couldn't get over how convenient it was having the hotel right there, and that they didn't want to leave as the beds were so comfy! You will not regret having your event at the Desmond -- I would do our wedding day 10x exactly the way it is. The Desmond team made it an experience we will never forget or want to change!

ehearsal and rehearsal dinner Friday, to the big day including the wonderful bridal suite for me and my girls, and finally that BRUNCH on Sunday – I couldn’t have asked for more. The staff are so attentive and accommodating. They allowed my entire bridal party to check in early on Saturday morning, answered any last minute questions or requests I had, and were just so friendly to all my guests. The entire planning process with Karen was a breeze, too. I really enjoyed working with her and she made it so easy. She even saved the day and helped when we couldn’t figure out my dress bustle. All my guests raved about the food (which was very important to me) and couldn’t stop talking about how wonderful everything went. I couldn’t be happier with how my special day turned out. I’m so thankful for all the staff at The Desmond for how wonderful they were all weekend, it truly made a difference!

then we continued our planning process with Cynthia. Both people were quick with their responses and made it so easy to have any and all of our questions answered. As the reception got closer we met with Cynthia to go over all our details, confirm timing and preferences, as well as ensure that we had all we needed for a smooth evening. Cynthia also helped set up our food tasting and the food does not disappoint! Each option was so good that it made it difficult to pick. Another great aspect of the food tasting was that the head server, Carol, who served us at that time was also our lead server at our wedding. Having her familiar face at the reception was such a great touch! The Desmond truly thinks of all of the details to make both the bride, the groom, and families feel welcomed and cared for. The week of the wedding we met with Cynthia again to do a walk-through and she confirmed all our items were present and she was again confirming where we wanted things to go on tables outside the reception. The day of the wedding, Cynthia and the hotel manager came and checked to make sure we had what we needed. The staff set up every detail which truly allowed us to be present and not worry about a single thing on our wedding day. When we arrived late to our cocktail hour from our photo shoot, the staff brought us into the ballroom to give everything a look while my wife’s dress was bustled. We were starving and the staff brought us a sampler of all the appetizers so we wouldn’t be mobbed while trying to grab food. They then brought us more of the ones we wanted more of. Not only that, the staff also brought appetizers up to our room in case we didn’t get to try everything (and in case we were still hungry after the reception). The staff made sure we were taken care of the entire night of the wedding, including bringing drinks right to our table. We not only had our reception here but we also hosted an after party with late night snacks, a Mass in one of the meeting rooms on Sunday morning followed by a farewell breakfast right across the hall. To our surprise, Carol was with us again in the morning for our breakfast! Almost all of our guests also stayed at the hotel and commented how nice it was to have everything following the ceremony in one location. The whole weekend could not have gone any better, and The Desmond is a big reason why.

the Desmond were wonderful about working with us to find a new date. Every detail was taken care of and the food was amazing. There were actually multiple weddings the same weekend as ours but I would never have known because they made us feel like the most important people in the world.

olutely gorgeous spaces for each. And, in winter, we did not want our guests to have to travel. During COVID no less, and the Desmond was very accommodating and safe. We worked with Kevin Kessler and his team, can't say enough about how competent and fun they are to work with. We had a private dining room for the rehearsal dinner, and had a blast. The ceremony was in their atrium/conservatory, all glass enclosed, as the sun set, just beautiful. All pictures completed before the party, so once the ceremony ended we walked 20 feet to the cocktail hour, then another 20 feet into the ballroom/reception area. All close, all warm, all wonderfully spread out to alleviate COVID. And the food is to die for! Definitely get the DIM SUM/Sushi station, and the warm cookies with bread pudding and hot chocolate cart at the end. Amazing. Prices were very reasonable too. What a memory!

After waiting so long to celebrate our marriage with friends and family, The Desmond did not disappoint! They took care of every last detail and went above and beyond for us! Karen and her team set up our ceremony decor, our gifts table, they coordinated separate preparation rooms for both bride/bridesmaids and groom/groomsmen, they provided a private cocktail hour option for bridal party, and at the end of the night they collected belongings from the wedding (i.e. grooms tux jacket, brides shoes, cake topper, cards/gifts, all the florals, etc) and had everything waiting for us at checkout the next morning. We also elected to have a Sunday farewell brunch which was perfect as well. The space is wonderful, the staff are so friendly and truly committed to their couples, and we had the wedding of our dreams. A HUGE thank you to them!! We give our highest recommendation!

There were no issues with anyone's reservations and the rooms were so clean and spacious. We also held our rehearsal dinner at The Conservatory which Cynthia helped coordinate. Not only was the room GORGEOUS, but the food was outstanding and the service was beyond compare. Andy and his team really were spectacular - friendly, so attentive, and genuinely took the time to talk with us and our guests. Cynthia made sure every single detail that we discussed would be there was there, and was truly a dream to work with! The communication from everyone at The Desmond was simply outstanding, which means a lot to a corona bride trying to contact all of the other vendors. I never doubted that my emails would be answered and after all of the time we spent communicating, I can honestly say that I will miss getting to speak with them now that it's over. Cannot recommend them enough!

Meredith was amazing with our room block and advice. She is so friendly and helpful. Cynthia did a fantastic job with all of our catering needs, and Steve handled all the transportation for us. This was a rescheduled Covid wedding and I was in contact with Meredith for almost two years and can't thank her enough for all of her assistance during that time. If you are able to book the Presidential Parlor, it was the perfect suite for the bride and her maids to get ready in on wedding day. With the adjoining guest rooms, it made a perfect family apartment for us during our 5 days in the hotel. I highly recommend The Desmond Hotel team and look forward to returning there any time I am in the area!

know planning a wedding to look especially at the covid shutdown era reviews, because that will tell you which venues/vendors will work with you when you are hit with the unpredictable. We were able to seamlessly postpone our wedding without a fuss or any extra fees: the policy was if the Desmond could not give us the wedding of our dreams within 8 weeks of the wedding, we could postpone without any stipulations. Kevin was fantastic. Throughout this process, he was reassuring, calming, positive, and would take time to talk to us on the phone about any questions we had. For our final planning meetings, we were always with Kevin for at least 2 hours: he made sure every little detail was what we wanted and took the time to connect with us on a personal level. The wedding day itself was seamless. We both live out of town but were holding the wedding in my hometown, so we had a lot of out-of-town guests. So many people raved to us about how helpful the staff was for any question they had. The food was outstanding and the cocktail hour area perfect. We had almost 200 people & there was plenty of space to move around without feeling crowded. Andy, Carol, and all the staff for our wedding were just incredible and they were there to help us before we even could ask the question. They brought us into the ballroom to see it & take some pictures before all the guests came in, & had our bridal party line up for our first dance after walking in which was an awesome touch. We did a Pittsburgh cookie table which can be a lot of work and the Desmond was all for it-and it looked amazing!!! The Desmond staff set up and broke down everything for us; we didn’t have to worry about a thing. They accommodated our group in the Fork & Bottle restaurant for the after party food/drinks which the out of towners all appreciated!! So many people told us this was the best wedding they’ve ever been to. I could go on and on. The Desmond was fantastic. We wanted a hotel wedding and they more than delivered. It was the day of our dreams!!

. The entire staff, from bus boys to housekeepers treated all of us like royalty. We received compliment after compliment and all we could say was all credit goes to the Desmond. The food was fantastic, and we didn’t worry about a thing. They even delivered a meal to a babysitter of one of our guests in her hotel room. They only let us hive up to 5 stars but we give them 10! You will not be disappointed if you go with the Desmond.
