My husband and I got married on July 3, 2021 and were so happy with the venue. Hannah was so responsive, easy to work with, and so understanding. This was not the case with venues I had been talking with prior to booking the Neighborhood House. The space was perfect and we were able to keep things in the space Friday-Sunday as they let us clean up on Sunday morning instead of trying to get everything out of there on Saturday night. There is also so much space, and you get access to the whole building (mostly, obviously not the offices, etc.) if you book with them. Such a good price! There are so many cool lighting options in the theater for you to personalize your wedding. We had a 4th of July theme (but more of an old Philly vibe) and it was perfect for the space.
The space is so unique and felt like the perfect combination of rustic and classy. We loved having our wedding at the Neighborhood House and wouldn't change a thing about it (except the rain, but that's nobody's fault).
We were very lucky to have our wedding reception at the Neighborhood House in February 2020. Hannah and Amanda went out of their way to make sure that our night went as smoothly as possible. They also helped make my vision come true by hanging twinkle lights in the theater. We absolutely loved having our reception here, it was unique and we loved that the Neighborhood House is dedicated to the arts in Philly. We are so grateful they had a day free for our reception!
My hubs and I eloped in London and held a reception about 6 months later with all of our friends and family at Neighborhood House. It was exactly what we were looking for in terms of space size, flexibility, budget and accommodation. The great thing about the space (we used the upstairs theater) is it's so customizable and has so much character — you can make it as simple or as extravagant as you want and the management won't push you one way or the other. It's in between a fully DIY space and a fully-managed space. You can select what services you want to bring in and what you want to do on your own (like music, cleaning, decorating, etc). Its location in Old City makes for incredible memories, photographs and other amenities. The staff were helpful, professional and responsive every step of the way. I rarely felt stressed or worried, if at all. In fact, it was actually FUN planning with CC Neighborhood House. You really can't find another space as unique and affordable in this part of the city. I also loved using the space because it helps support Philadelphia artists and preserves a corner of history.
We found Neighborhood House by accident and we couldn’t be more pleased with how our reception turned out. Hannah and the team at Neighborhood House took what was in my head and brought it to life. This is not your typical venue, but if you’re a DIY bride and are willing to transform the space yourself you won’t be disappointed. We had a blast and are so happy with how everything turned out!
We got married at the Neighborhood House on NYE, and we couldn't be happier! We had an evening celebration with both our ceremony + reception in the theatre space (which is beautiful and doesn't need much beyond lots of lights to decorate it!). Our guests loved the venue, but they didn't even get to experience the best part, which was working with the incredibly kind and helpful staff. Megan and Abigail were amazing and so accommodating - for example, they helped us store the Christmas trees we were using for decor, and their team was super hands-on with the setup for the event. Our DJ was able to integrate into their sound setup, since it's a theatre, which was a nice benefit. Really, there was nothing I would change about my experience with the Neighborhood House. I notice that someone commented on having to clean up their trash - any caterer should take care of that. :)
I was "lucky" enough to have my wedding reception at the Christ Church Neighborhood House on St. Patrick's Day '17 (3/17/17). We chose to utilize the Great Hall for the reception space & since we were married at Christ Church next door, we utilized their 1st floor rooms before the ceremony for pictures. The Great Hall room was perfect size for my 80 person guest list. . Any more than this many guests, you may want to consider their theater room on the 3rd floor. We did not pick the theater since we were going for a historic theme. In the lobby we set up a makeshift photo booth, it was the perfect size and broke up the reception space nicely. Being an avid history lover and former tour guide in the area, I was in awe to find out the neighborhood house was in my budget. I was a pay-for-my-own wedding bride & guests left thinking the reception cost a fortune being in Old City... which Brides, you gotta feel good about that! It is a beautiful venue I loved the natural light during dinner & cocktail hour! A planning note: I hired a piano player to play on the grand piano staged already in the room during cocktail hour, guests loved it!! On top of that: Megan, the coordinator for the location, was flexible and responsive to my many questions and working with a new caterer. I planned my wedding from out of state 13 hours away and I was also a do-it-yourself bride so the patience CCNH had with my many emails and vendor meetings while I was not present did not go un-noticed. Thank you Megan for once again making my dream wedding reception a reality! At the end of the wedding, we had a grand good-bye with sparklers on the cobble stone street right out front, the pictures I have I will cherish forever. Obviously, not enough good enough things to say about CCNH. A hidden gem in Olde City!
Christ Church Neighborhood House was the perfect venue for our welcome dinner on the night before our wedding for a number of reasons: it's unique, affordable, flexible, and in an amazing location that wowed all of our guests, out-of-towners and locals alike! We rented the garden/courtyard and the second floor theater space as a plan b in case of rain. The weather ended up being perfect so we were able to enjoy the outdoor space, immediately adjacent to the historic Christ Church. Our 50-ish guests LOVED the novelty of being in such a uniquely-Philadelphia location and were impressed by how intimate, quiet, and removed the venue felt, even though we weren't far from 2nd and Market Streets. The CCNH staff on site that evening were helpful, courteous, and informative, and the Rentals Manager, Megan, was a pleasure to work with. Bonus: no restrictions on caterers! The only tiny caveat that I would give is that they don't have on-site trash or recycling, so you need to arrange for your own clean up at the end of the night. Overall, though, I highly recommend CCNH as a venue for any small-ish private event, and would have another gathering there in a heartbeat.
I loved hosting our wedding reception at the Neighborhood House because of the diversity of spaces available in one building. The courtyard was the perfect welcome for hot cider and mingling. The exposed brick and tall, tall ceilings in the third floor theatre space made for a rustic cocktail hour. And the more colonial, formal second floor was a beautiful setting for dinner and dancing. I also love the location of Neighborhood House; our guests enjoyed strolling around Old City Philadelphia before and after our event. Finally, the staff was accommodating and organized both before and during the event. I highly recommend this venue for its historic charm and wonderful location!
