This company is a little different because you send your info and they assign you to a local artist. My artist worked at a salon nearby, but did weddings on the weekends for extra money. My trial with her was amazing, she was so friendly and I LOVED my hair and makeup. When the company asked for final details, they gave me schedule of applications based on the number that I needed and also assigned another artist for hair. They didn't give me info on which person should go at what time, so I put myself last for hair and makeup because I thought that would make mine the most 'fresh' looking. Turns out, that's a bad idea since my main artist was not good with time management. The schedule gave her 35 min per application, and she probably needed 45 min since she was so talkative. We were pressed for time when I got into her chair, so my makeup and hair were pretty quick.
To start, she said that she didn't know why I went last, and that she normally never allows that. She also didn't remember what she had done at my trial so we both had to search through our phones for the photos (which took a while since my trial was about 11 months prior). My makeup ended up looking great, except for the fact that the airbrush color was a few shades too dark for my skin tone. Luckily my photographer did an excellent job of editing that in our photos.
However, I hated my hair. She spent maybe 20 minutes on my hair, and it looked nothing like my trial. At my trial she used a crimper to give my hair some texture, which allowed for a thick fishtail braid on one side, and swept it all into a low, loose bun. It was beautiful and I was so excited for that. But since she didn't remember my trial, she didn't bring the crimper on the day of. Also, she didn't have time to curl all of my hair for texture so it was all flat. Consequently, the braid was incredibly thin and didn't blend into the rest of my hair. She sectioned off the front of my hair to loosely pin in and frame my face, but you could see the line of my scalp between that and the braid. Since my hair is a light blonde, it needed that texture and volume to hide my scalp.
By the time she finished and I saw the final product, there wasn't enough time to make changes. Honestly, I felt like my final hair was something I could have put together myself. I loved all of my bridesmaids hair, which was done by the other artist. Now that we have our photos, I've found that I've been liking and printing the photos that don't show or hide my left side with the braid on it. It's pretty upsetting because I loved everything about my trial, but the day of looked nothing like it.
I wish I would've gotten some guidance on who to put in which application time slot and that the bride shouldn't have gone last. It was partly my fault for not asking, but also partly the fault of the company/artist for not making that note. My artist got the schedule at the beginning of the day, so she knew that I was last. It would have been easy to switch that last minute if she had said something earlier. Also, I wish the time slots would have been longer for my main artist so we weren't as pressed for time. Finally, I wish my artist had made notes or looked at my trial hair and makeup photos ahead of time so that she was prepared with the right tools.
