life in matrimony to our significant other is no ordinary day, but a pivotal moment in our life. As I found myself in search of that special place I envisioned how I wanted my special day to be. The Renaissance was the second place on my list to visit. I walked in, the first thing that took over my senses was a very pleasant smell, delighted😊 by it, being that I am lover of the olfactory pleasures, I had a good feeling that was then complemented with a warm, kind and professional greeting from Bernard and Teresa. Their cordial assistance immediately made me and my soon to be husband very comfortable. As we were guided to tour the venue, my imagination began to fly and I could picture my guests walking in to the sound of Beethoven’s and Mozarts sonatas and the moment that defined it all finally happened; After walking down the beautiful staircase to the lower level, I looked up and there was the beautiful balconies, my imagination fired up and I envisioned my moment “The officiant just pronounced us man and wife and there at the balcony was Jose Heredia, the tenor with his beautiful voice singing “Dein ist mein ganzes herz” as me and Seppi, (now married) proceed to walk up the staircase feeling the vibration of the Tenor’ voice in our hearts”. As my daydream came to an end and I came back to reality, I told Seppi “Our search is over, we have found the place.” Now, since important decisions shall not be left to the mercy of mere feelings and emotions, I’d like to approach this review from an objective perspective. From our first time visiting the venue and meeting with Bernard and Teresa, we were able to discern their professionalism and expertise in the wedding and catering business. The Excellency in their work ethic was clearly seen in the way they handled matters promptly and with transparency. It has been said that “We are what we repeatedly do, therefore EXCELLENCE is not an act, but a HABIT”. I am forever thankful to the Renaissance for putting their habit of excellency to our service and providing us with an over the top service, giving us the peace of mind that comes from knowing you are dealing with professionals and for making our guests feel like royalty. There is not need to go into details on each aspect of their service, since to those who understand very little information will suffice, recognizing that in life people might not always remember what you said or did, but they will always remember how you made them feel. As for me and my husband, our experience with the Renaissance Event Hall left us feeling satisfied, grateful and privileged for having the fortune of finding such an amazing Gem of Venue. give it 5 stars but there were some hiccups during the wedding. 1. During the planning, we requested the food to be served as a buffet along with all of the cake but they saved the top tier for us...Our cake was split into 3 flavors and so they saved us the whole top tier which was my favorite flavor but I wanted my guests to have it, not me. 2. Also we had asked beforehand if we should get a Day of Coordinator and they said that it wouldn't be necessary and so we didn't hire one. We mentioned that our bridal attendant was a little too friendly and was in our faces too much. I had to kick people out of the bridal suite myself and she seemed a little frantic in general the day of which made us nervous. The venue said typically she would liaison with our Day of Coordinator but we didn't have one.....because they told us we didn't need one... 3. At the buffet, they were supposed to go to each table and call them to the buffet but after the 5th table, people started to go up and get the food themselves because they were not notified of when to go to the buffet. 4. According to the my husband, the cocktail hr was a little crowded in the balcony area for 200+ people which is why people went out into the outdoor terrace and into the bridal suite eventually since someone left the door wide open. At the end of the day, the venue is beautiful and the food was great and we had a wonderful time. Brian was our coordinator and he was a real trooper. There are always going to be hiccups along the way but do yourself a favor and get a day of coordinator for your own piece of mind.

rainy weather that day was meaningless in the face of happy guests that were fully enjoying themselves. If you are planning a wedding, you need to see this place and include it among your selection process. The agility and energy of the staff will make your special day so much more pleasurable and easier as they did for us - and that in itself made Renaissance Event Hall the best choice for us. Visiting several times before the event, sometimes after work hours, meeting the staff, trying the food and developing our ideas by coming there truly helped us develop a vision and an aesthetic in very comfortable circumstances instead of being under pressure with outside service vendors thrown in our face. The chemistry was magical and the best decision we made in 2018.

g. It is the perfect venue for a traditional event or a non-traditional setting like ours. The design is chic and modern without being overpowering. It is the perfect balanced canvas to create whatever you need, right down to the bathrooms with the amazing wallpaper. Teresa was warm and friendly. She sold us on the venue without being heavy-handed and gave us room to think and make decisions. They were very willing to work within our budget and didn’t make us feel like it would be at the expense of quality. They recommended top notch vendors and were very willing to work with our own outside vendors. We were also very impressed with the sample menu tasting. My husband and I are both foodies and while the design was super important to me, food was super important to him. Neither of us were at all disappointed. The food was spectacular, not what you would expect from an event venue. They were also very accommodating of our specific tastes and needs. Benard, who oversaw the details, was truly helpful. He heard all our requests and made all possible happen leading up to the main event. Benard and Teresa were very professional while still exuding warmth and friendliness. They even followed-up with a conference call with my husband and me two days later to check on us and confirm our night had met all our expectations. The rest of the staff who worked and took care of us on the day/night of our wedding were also top notch. We would absolutely recommend this place to friends, family and strangers alike. It was a truly gratifying experience working with Bernard and Teresa who helped to bring our vision to fruition. We would love to have another event to plan with them.

They were able to accommodate us on every aspect that we wanted to incorporate into the ceremony and reception, all while working within the limits of our budget. On the day of the wedding everything was arranged as requested for the ceremony without any flaws. This followed through onto the cocktail hour and reception where the food was absolutely fantastic, service was extremely professional, and was promptly coordinate with the dancing, photos, and other festivities. Our guests were having such a good time that it took an effort to convince them the party was over! Theresa, Brenda, and the rest of the team at the Renaissance are a welcome relief to the potential headache that could come with trying to plan and execute a wedding in NYC. Brenda was great to work with and always quickly answered any questions we had. The food was fantastic and the staff onsite during the reception were fantastic as well. The team at the Renaissance was able to help transform the space beyond what we could have imagined. We've heard nothing but compliments from our guests on the space and their experience. I keep saying that I wish we could go back and attend our own wedding as guests! The Renaissance truly is a beautiful event space and the team is great to work with.

that was the testament of how well they cared about making us happy. Brenda's communication and responsiveness was really top notch and was always eager to help and make adjustments for us even when it was last minute and for the littlest things. Astrid the coordinator of the night of the wedding was amazing as well. She made sure I had food & drinks eventhough I was very busy having a good time dancing lol. She helped me with my dress, helped me fix my jewerly and hair and was very attentive to make sure I looked and felt my best. All my guests gave me raving reviews about how beautiful the venue is and how great the ambiance is. They raved about the hors d'oeuvres during cocktail, everyone raved about how great our signature drink was and they even made sure I had sprigs of lavender to match my purple theme. We did have some guests say the fish entree was a bit on the smaller size but overall the food was very good. Because the layout of the cocktail area, it did get a bit hectic with 140+ guests at times but the wait staff and Astrid was very accomodating to everyone, but other then that REH made our night so memorable and we had a blast. Thank you so much for everything & making our night amazing!

Renaissance fit the bill in terms of space- they also have many packages and options for every price point and you don't feel like you're skimping when you choose some of the more thrifty packages. At 120 people, we felt that the space was intimate but not crowded- all of our guests were able to fit nicely in the 13 tables for the reception. While there was plenty of space on the dance floor for everyone to dance all at once- it was not so big that it felt awkward when only a few people wanted to dance. My guests all felt it was a great romantic - but not over the top venue (i.e. no gaudy chandeliers) Brenda made us feel really taken care of - she not only listened to what we needed and wanted, she also offered plenty of solutions and advice when we were faltering in some of our decision making. Communication and responsiveness was really top notch. The food was really great and something that my husband I cared a lot about- they were flexible in adding tacos to the cocktail hour menu, even though they didn't offer it. My parents and guests are still talking about the roast pig carving station- it was so delicious and well prepared. They definitely listened to our feedback from our food tasting and incorporated our comments very well. There was some sort of miss-hap in the kitchen that led to a delay in some of the food being served for dinner- but the staff was so apologetic. In the end, it was handled in a way that our guests didn't really notice even though I was worried about the timing.

Teresa, an owner of the business, made us feel we were always in safe hands. Her enthusiasm for our wedding from day one made us feel completely at ease and confident that our wedding would be amazing. The fact that not only was she at our event, but she actively wanted to be there, showed us how The Renaissance isn't just running a business; they realize they are helping to create lifelong memories for the important events in your life. Planning a wedding (especially without a wedding planner) can be a daunting task, and we started our planning on the best foot possible with our first appointment at The Renaissance. We are just disappointed the wedding is over because we would love to continue working with them!

in our date! The details were really great. The space: It's big, beautiful, and well kept. There are so many different options you have from a formal sit down dinner to a cocktail party. It's really impressive! The Food: Unbelievable. Everything was perfectly cooked and delicious. I can't say enough about how good the food was. It was always hot too! The service: Flawless. Everyone there was so nice. They were very diligent in taking away any garbage left behind, there was never a empty glass or dirty plate sitting around. Very proportionately staffed. They were all so nice and helpful, the bartender has a great pour! Everything was perfectly timed. This is how service is supposed to be. Those servers really cared. Communication/responsiveness: I never had a problem getting in touch with Jessica and she was always very willing to meet. Anytime we had a meeting I would immediately get an email confirming an appointment in the calendar. This is very helpful since my now husband and I are very organized. Value/Price: For what you get, it's worth every penny. There may be cheaper options in the area, but I would pay the extra money to have any event here. The best part - JESSICA!!!!: Jessica has been so helpful throughout the entire process. Not only is she in charge of sales and marketing, but she is also the head chef. We sat down with her to go over different options and customized packages to fit our budget and our taste. She came up with amazing options for the food that she was making up off the top of her head after we had discussed with her what kind of food we liked. The important details of lighting, table placement The menu, which included, amongst three different entree choices , rack of lamb, was a selection of the very freshest foods, special breads, salads, and desserts which included family specialties. re majestic, I felt like a real princess on the day off we put a lot of flowers on the railing and it looked amazing. The process of planning an event here was so easy , the staff is professional and read your mind. If you choose to have your event here you will not be disappointed at all.

Drinks were also displayed on the beautiful bar(s)-(There's 2 bars!!). There was such a variety and the mojitos are the best! Most important for me was the service...everyone was so friendly and attentive, the entire night. Dinner was held downstairs which was so cool because I made a grand entrance with the spotlights on me...I really felt special. the tables looked so beautiful with the colored linens and chargers. My friends did a great job setting this up. They chose to have a buffet for dinner service and there was again a great variety of food and the buffet itself was this awesome.... a wooden pallet table with green apples and candles...So unique!!The place screams Unique! There was an awesome dessert or Viennese buffet with OMG!!! Tres Leches!?!! And Pineapple Cake...and Guava Cake!! My sister said they chef/ Sales director completely customized the menu to match the theme and our culture as well. Definitely a plus!! Overall I was very happy with how my party turned out. After finding out how much prices were for this hall.... because I was curious about my wedding.... I was happy to hear they were in my budget,...very reasonable and you get a lot for your money. They also allow you to customize your wedding by adding on unique decorations or using their sound system or uplights like my family chose for my bridal shower. I guess not everyone needs to have these add-on's because every wedding/event is different which is why I like that they don't try to make you get an all-inclusive package. I like that I'd be able to make my wedding...MY wedding!!! and not an idea of how it should be based on the salesperson. Still debating if I want to have my wedding here since I like the outdoors and because of my bridal shower being here, but I they're in the top three for my choice.

de leaves much to be desired. We were both treated in a fair and professional manner. The initial negotiations regarding what services to employ and what menu option to choose was also fair. We felt Ms. Teresa and Ms. Jessica were both doing their best to accommodate some of our requests. What's been said in other reviews about a la carte pricing is true. Some can argue that, that is how they control costs. Others simply feel that's nickel-and-diming in the truest sense of the words. We'll just say, "You get what you pay for." Spend a few dollars more and get a little more, spend less, and you get less. There's not too much to argue about here. It's a business after all and they're trying to make a buck too. In our opinion however, they're not out to do you any favors if it costs them $$$. Can't say we were fans of their policy to tack on a surcharge for using a credit card. We're talking about hundreds and hundreds of dollars here, not some $75 fee. What they're doing is passing the premium they need to pay the credit card agencies for using their services to the customer. This is what we mean by REH not doing you and your fiancée any favors. A few hours before the start of the reception we received a call from Ms. Jessica who said there was an error in accounting, regarding how many guests were attending. At the time, we were not 100% certain if it was REH's error, our error, or just simple miscommunication. What really upset us was how Ms. Jessica demanded CASH payment before the reception was underway. This is where REH really hurt themselves. Why call the newlyweds and demand cash payment? Why not show some professional courtesy or pretend to be partners in the greatest production of our lives and consider payment afterwards? After all, we later found the error to be on REH's end (sorry Ms. Teresa and Ms. Jessica, but it's true). REH, think of it this way…you were asking for 3% of the entire bill to be paid upfront. Did you think we would skip town or refuse payment? If you pride yourself in wanting to separate yourself from the competition, shouldn’t you learn not to have such a ridiculous policy on a day when experience tells you, “The couple is probably stressed to begin with?” Just a bad policy and leaves a bad taste in the mouth. You open yourselves for a rough review guys. Another major disappointment was dinner not arriving at the time scheduled, but almost a whole hour late. We lost 30-40 guests who actually left before dinner arrived. Pretty embarrassing for everyone involved. But we have to compliment the kitchen staff on the quality of the food. We received wonderful compliments on how the food tasted and was presented. Kudos to REH there. A minor hiccup was not having the bathroom attendant in the ladies room as you advertised and how we paid for. You know, we had zero intentions of writing a review, until we received a phone call from REH asking for comments. We had such high hopes. We wish you better success in the future.

was the Renaissance.. it was as perfect as I knew it was going to get. My fiancé suggested that we see the 3 other venues before making the final decision. Needless to day, not 1 compared. Jessica Nieves made us feel as though we were the only couple planning our wedding. She answered every email and phone call as though she was at our beck and call. Her suggestions were always on the mark...April 12th, 2014 was out day.. it was a dream come true. The lighting, linen, crystals and silverware were just amazing. Our guests, have not stopped commenting on how well they were treated by the staff and waiters and waitresses .. a few have even written letters to them complimenting the Renaissance for such incredible service .. friendly and caring.. Thank you Jessica Nieves and everyone at the Renaissance for making our wedding a day to remember forever! Sincerely, Sally & Jimmy

The staircase makes for a great entrance for the bride (though mind the steps if you have a long dress). We planned for 100 people and about 80 showed, which was the perfect number for utilizing the lower level. Jessica, our wedding consultant, was brilliant. She walked us through all the planning and was with us through the entire event. The whole package was very reasonably priced, and the staff was very accommodating. (We had to reschedule the wedding for family reasons, and they held our deposit for more than a year.) Overall they were wonderful to work with, the food was great, and the backdrop made for really nice photos. For some scenic outdoor shots, try nearby Astoria Park, which has city skyline, bridge and water views.

We had parties at various venues in Queens and NEVER has any chef or manager asked us that. Some guests remarked that it was just like "home cooked". We all had a great time. I would HIGHLY recommend this venue to anyone who wants to have an event of high class and distinction with many menus to choose from.We were completely satisfied. We wish Renaissance continued success and hope to work again sometime soon.

. Renaissance was VERY affordable and everyone was pretty on top of things. However, we had a lot of guests (150) and in the end it seemed a little crowded. When we were told it would be able to accommodate all of our guests, I didn't realize it would be that crowded. While Renaissance was nice, it's not as fancy as other pricier places. However, we were able to have all of the guests we wanted and not break the bank. The food was pretty good, especially the hors d'oeuvres! All in all, not bad!

During the planning stages, we were able to have a food tasting during a party they held (hidden from view, of course) so we were able to taste the food as it was prepared for an actual event. This was comforting because the food was very good and it gave us ideas for what we were able to customize. The food at our wedding was delicious! The service during the wedding was impeccable. Tony, the maitre'd was awesome and efficient. He got all the details and timing exactly right. We received many compliments from our guests about what a good time they had. The venue is great because they only host one wedding at a time. It is elegant and tasteful. For a wedding of our size (approx 115), it was perfect. The price was also very reasonable for everything we received. Warning: Do not judge this place by their wedding expo/showcase. That event was crowded and very cheesy. The place can be much more classy than it appears in that showcase. All in all, it was a wonderful place to have our most wonderful day! er to keep it convenient. Most of them had never been to NYC, so we really wanted to stay in the city. But alas, we weren't able to find anything within our means. Enter Renaissance. Renaissance was the first venue we saw outside of Manhattan and we were so thrilled to find it. The staff, the venue and the price were all perfect for us. We didn't need much time at all to decide to book the place. Overall, we were so pleased with everything and everyone. The staff was great and always so friendly when we came to the hall (they always offer you this wonderful flavored water when you come in). Jessica, our coordinator, was so gracious and lovely to work with. She answered our emails right away (I think there was one time when she didn't) and otherwise ensured our needs were always met. The only thing we had a slight issue with was the tasting. We were under the impression we would have a tasting about two weeks before the wedding. We also thought it would be only us and we would get to select the items we wanted to try. Well, Renaissance holds a bridal show (twice a year) where they have vendors come in, as well as hold a tasting for clients. We never received the email invite (I found it later in my spam folder), so we missed the event. However, once I found the email in my spam, I saw that it didn't state that it was required for clients to attend, especially if clients needed to do a tasting. At the time the show as held (in February...I was married in May), I had booked all my vendors. So I think had I gotten the email, I wouldn't have attended, despite the tasting aspect. Again, we were under the impression we'd have a tasting on our own, a couple weeks before the wedding. I contacted Jessica, to ask about some other items, and figured I'd confirm that our tasting would be two weeks from the wedding. This is when she informed me about the bridal show & tasting. Luckily, we were able to set up a tasting, so everything worked out. I do think, in the future, perhaps Renaissance should state that it's highly recommended that clients attend their bridal show, so that they can conduct their tasting. While I don't necessarily agree with how Renaissance conducts their tastings, I understand it's probably better economically for them to do it that way. In that case, future emails should state how important it is to attend them. Other than that, I was very happy with Renaissance. OH, the food was GREAT!! I wish I could've packed up all of the food for a midnight snack after the wedding, LOL! And all of my guests raved about the food as well. Some even said it was the best food they'd ever had at a wedding. So kudos for Renaissance on the food. It was delicious! Great venue, great staff and great time!

sked to speak or meet we were welcomed. We loved that we were invited to sample their menu. This helped us to make better decisions as to what we wanted our guests to have as well as really cement our decision about going with this venue. We were really pleased with everything we sampled. The only complaint we heard from our guests was that many of those who ordered steak did not get it prepared as they had asked. Most of the steak dishes came out rare. Also, some people had asked for a particular kind of alcohol that we definitely had paid for and they were told that they had run out of it. Mind you it was still early in the night. A few minutes later they were serving it. So I guess, there needs to better communication between the bartenders/wait staff as to what they have in stock and have everything replenished beforehand. Other than that, we all had a good experience. The hall looked amazing, very neat and presentable. The waitstaff was great. Everyone was tended to quickly and efficiently. All glasses were filled, dishes were brought out quickly. And afterwards, dishes were removed quickly. The staff was really friendly which made everyone feel comfortable. They all looked polished and we loved the way they all came out at the same time from the kitchen, forming a line to walk to either side of the room. It looked really professional. We loved that at the end of the night, the staff was not chasing everyone out the door. They cleaned up swiftly around everyone and didn't start removing things from the tables before the event was completely over, as many places do and is so rude. The Renaissance staff was so accommodating they even helped us with numbers to taxi services, packaging some of the left over bottles of liquor we had brought in, and gathering some of the things we had brought that we needed to get back. Jessica really pulled the whole night together and kept everything moving very smoothly. Thank you!!! We are happy with the service they provided.
