This was the perfect location for our wedding and I cannot thank the whole staff enough for their attentive service! We received compliments all night regarding the amazing food, the wonderful service and the beautiful rooms! They really go out of their way to make sure the bride and groom are happy throughout the night. Thank you so much for hosting our wedding!
My husband and I became engaged right in the middle of the pandemic. Despite this, Kate responded quickly to all of my emails and when I was getting nervous about guidelines/restrictions related to covid, she would look for a time to talk and she helped reassure me on the phone. The Renaissance made our ballroom wedding come true and my husband and I fell in love with the look of our reception. From the bistro lights included in our package to the cocktail hour, everyone loved it and commented so much on how beautiful everything looked. We have so many great things to say about this venue and truly feel blessed that we were able to have our wedding at the Renaissance and customize what we were looking for. Thank you Kate and everyone at the Renaissance for a wonderful night and experience!
It only took one tour of the Renaissance to know it was everything we were looking for! Everything about our wedding day was perfect thanks to this beautiful hotel, the staff and most importantly Jessica and Steven!
I could go on about the beauty of the hotel forever- but that’s easy to see as soon as you step in to tour. The hotel really has it all, beautiful suites overlooking the statehouse to get ready in morning of, ample places for gorgeous photos without ever having to get in a car, a beautiful ballroom for ceremony and reception, and the coolest lounge area for cocktail hour and after party. The renaissance really does have you covered from start to finish on your big day.
The biggest reason I recommend booking the renaissance for your wedding would be getting to work with Jessica and Steven. While Steven is more behind the scenes on your big day - he’s so involved in the planning process - helping make decisions- and making you feel confident your day will go perfectly. I loved having meetings with him because in addition to being amazing at what he does - he’s also an awesome person who’s fun to talk too.
Jessica is your new best friend through out your planning process. She answered every question I had, and questions I didn’t even know I had - and helped me make sure every detail on our wedding day was exactly what I envisioned. She was there the whole day making sure everything went perfectly and the few problems that came up she fixed without me even knowing they had happened. She’s on top of everything while still being friendly to everyone and fun to be around. I am so grateful to have had her there running the show on my wedding day.
I can’t imagine getting married at another venue- the Renaissance team made our wedding day absolutely perfect.
My husband and I could not be happier with the Renaissance Providence Hotel. We first fell in love with the Renaissance after touring other Providence wedding venues and realized it was the perfect fit for us. We recognized right away that we were in good hands and felt the Renaissance was willing to work with us and allow us to focus our weekend around the Hotel. The convenience of being able to have our ceremony and reception in the same place was what we were looking for in a venue. We were also attracted to the idea of hosting our cocktail hour in Publics restaurant with use of the full bar and lounge.
From the modern vibe in the lobby to the charm and unique character of each room, the Renaissance is the perfect venue for an elegant, classy, urban wedding.
Our bridal suite was such a beautiful space with the most incredible views of the State House. It was lovely to see the State House illuminated at night, and then framed by the sunrise on our wedding day. All of our guests were pleased with their rooms having recently been renovated and equipped with stylish decor.
The most important person we worked with on our wedding day was Jessica, our Wedding Coordinator & Catering Sales Manager, from the Renaissance. Jess was the key to making our wedding day a true success. She was with us from start to finish and predicted our every need. Even leading up to the big day she was always accessible to answer my questions or need for advice. She knows just how to orchestrate a wedding to keep the day running smoothly. As a Bride you spend so much time planning and hoping your venue and other vendors will understand what you envisioned, and Jess did that and more. She truly went above and beyond for us and we are so very thankful and fortunate to have worked with her.
Jessica also works closely with Steven (Event Operations Director) who we had the chance to meet during a tour of the Renaissance. He works more behind the scenes on your wedding day, and quietly makes sure every little detail is just how you wanted. You can tell how much he takes pride in what he does which will translate on your wedding day!
We also worked with Chris who is the General Manager of Public Kitchen & Bar at the Renaissance. We used his space for our first look, cocktail hour, after party, and breakfast the next morning. The stairway entrance into Publics was the perfect place for our first look and made for a grand entrance as newlyweds following the ceremony. Our guests could enjoy a full bar and lounge for our cocktail hour and then were able to return for our after party. We highly recommend Publics on you wedding day or even just a night out!
Thank you to all of the Renaissance staff for making our Wedding weekend so special for not our us but for our guests and family!
The Renaissance was the perfect place for our reception! Bethany and her team were extremely helpful and professional, making sure everything went smoothly the day of the wedding. The ballroom is recently renovated and the food is fantastic! I definitely recommend the Renaissance for any couple looking to get married in Providence.
I run a corporate events business so I had a unique perspective one wedding planning. I cared a lot about certain things that most brides don’t care about, and not at all about others.
My 180 guests were from both Boston and NYC, so we picked Providence as a middle location, and wanted everything to be convenient for the guests once they arrived since everyone had to travel.
The Renaissance was reasonably priced and fabulous to work with. My guests, mostly from New York City, couldn’t stop saying how much they loved the hotel—the rooms and service were excellent.
The previous coordinator, Courtney, left about a month before my November wedding. While the transition was frustrating at times, Bethany went above and beyond to make up for the headache of having to communicate things for a second time. Bethany has been with the Renaissance for many years in a different role and had plenty of hospitality industry knowledge to take over our wedding with only a few weeks’ notice, so I wholeheartedly recommend working with her and the Renaissance team.
My wedding was 180 people, so we needed to have our cocktail hour in the Public lounge rather than the ballroom foyer, which required an earlier start time than I would have preferred, but it worked out fine.
The one hiccup was that not all of our guests received their gift bags, but the Renaissance team was apologetic and happily brought the extras to our Sunday brunch for guests to take home.
Bethany worked with me to modify the appetizer and entrée options from the standard menu and all our guests raved about the food. Bethany’s team assembled all our centerpieces, including trimming flower stems, giving my mother sister, and I all our Friday afternoon back. She led our ceremony rehearsal and managed our processional flawlessly. The Renaissance was a fantastic wedding venue—much more accommodating than most hotels—and as an event planner, I highly recommend them without hesitation.
Our wedding weekend was perfect! We couldn't have asked for a better venue. The entire staff went above and beyond for the entire wedding party and our guests (this includes everyone from valet to front desk to public kitchen to the wedding team). The ballroom looked beautiful for both our ceremony and reception. Courtney the coordinator had recently left the hotel and I was nervous at first, but Bethany Barrar handled everything for us. She was so organized and on top of things. We really appreciated having her and the team. Steven also did a great job with decorating with very few notes from me. It was perfect!!!!!!!! Thank you so much to the Renaissance for hosting our amazing wedding day!
Having our wedding at the Renaissance was the best decision we made! Everything was absolutely perfect. The staff was beyond helpful and really made our wedding everything we dreamed of. Courtney Maleakas was such a pleasure to work with - she answered ALL of my questions, provided suggestions and made sure everything on the day of went smoothly! Thank you to everyone at the Renaissance. Joe and I have the best memories from our wedding weekend! :)
The best experience ever! Very attentive staff. The food was even better than the tasting! Excellent service and clean and pristine. Courtney made my whole day as easy as possible
I couldn't of asked for a better wedding! Courtney and her team at the Renaissance were amazing! I clicked with Courtney the first time I met her! She's so great at her job but also a great person to chat with. They were all so easy to talk to and also very quick with responding when I had 4937 questions. My wedding was in May and my husband and I were amazed! All of our guests had a great time and kept saying the hotel is so beautiful! (Which is it!) They remodeled the hotel and also the ballroom and its so modern with the color choices they picked! I am so happy I had my wedding here!! I wouldn't change a thing!
We had our wedding weekend room block, rehearsal dinner and Sunday brunch all at the hotel. Everything was absolutely fantastic. We were not expecting anything special for the food at the rehearsal, but we were pleasantly surprised that both the fish and chicken were excellent! The rooms have unique cultural experience and the bridal suite was also amazing. Drinks at Public Kitchen were tasty and the brunch food was a great finishing touch! The staff, both before the events and during, were phenomenal to deal with. Highly recommend this hotel for any wedding activities in the Providence area! Courtney was the best!
Our wedding was fabulous. Working with Courtney made our experience one of fairytales. She was energetic and thought of every last detail. It was such a pleasure and took all the stress out of the day. We absolutely recommend this location, and specifically Courtney Maleakas, for any event.
My Husband and I got married at the Renaissance Hotel, a few weeks ago. When we first went to meet with Courtney, the event coordinator at the hotel we never thought that we could get married at such a grand venue with our conservative budget.
Courtney made us feel comfortable and was able to accommodate our budget. Throughout the process Courtney answered all our questions in a timely manor.
Our wedding day was amazing; Courtney and her team did a great job with making sure the day went smoothly. The ballroom was recently renovated and we were one of the first weddings to use it. If you have an opportunity to check it out, you should! If you’re looking for a modern venue, with character, and history this is it!
My husband and I got married 1/7/17 and we are so happy we had our wedding reception at the Renaissance! We worked with Courtney Maleakas and she was an absolute dream. She was incredibly responsive and went above and beyond. She had everything all set for us so we didn't have to worry about anything the day of. Beth also took great care of us and managed everything perfectly. The food was absolutely amazing!! Our guests raved about how good the food was. We wish we could eat this food outside of an event! Please invite us to your wedding so we can eat the food again.
Be advised The Renaissance is not affiliated with the restaurant Public in the hotel. Having an after party at Public was a huge deal for us and we were informed that Public's bar stayed open until 2am, this was a huge plus for us. Unfortunately the bar closed early and the manager was difficult to deal with.
Overall the experience with The Renaissance was awesome. We would HIGHLY recommend you host your wedding there. This hotel is a hidden gem in the city of Providence.
The Renaissance Providence Hotel was the perfect place for my friends and family to rest and get ready for our amazing wedding we had in September. The hotel is breath taking. From the gorgeous temple exterior to the inside being fully redone at the beginning of this year transforming it to be both modern and chic, but also giving a comfortable environment. I was so comfortable I walked around in my slippers a few times! My photographer also loved the decor to be a beautiful back ground for pictures.
I can not express enough how wonderful Courtney and Teresa were during this entire process. They were immensely helpful and accommodating when we were trying to organize the room block and special requests for those rooms. The certainly went above and beyond with their hospitality and generosity that my guests have all been raving how easy and beautiful working with the hotel was for that weekend.
My husband and I are truly grateful for all the hard work and kindness this hotel showed us on our big wedding weekend and can't wait to come back and enjoy the beauty that Providence has to offer. Thank you!
Amazing first class service throughout the entire process. I was beyond impressed and the venue is competitively priced. Beautiful place and everything went perfect. Great communication and with the venue the entire time. We felt like royalty.
When my husband and I started looking into venues we tried a few hotels in the providence area, and other venues, we left confused and unsure of having our wedding there. After touring the Renaissance with Courtney, their wedding consultant, we were blown away. Not only is the Renaissance reasonably priced, but they also have a great staff who are very attentive and kind. The whole hotel is beautiful, my suite was beautiful and our ceremony and reception were perfect. I can't say enough good things about the Renaissance as a wedding venue choice.
My husband and I could not have been happier with the Renissance hotel and their staff. Courtney made the whole experience bareable. She kept in touch with us through emails and coordinated with our other vendors so we'd have a stress free day. Everything was perfect. I would definitely recommend you have your wedding at the Renissance !!
Working with Courtney at the Renaissance was THE BEST!!! She worked with us to keep things in our budget, while still being super fancy. Everything was perfect: the ceremony, the food and bar , the way the tables looked, etc. You will not be disappointed!
We just had our wedding at the Renaissance hotel and couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. The servers during dinner were very professional and attentive to the guests. All of our requests were fulfilled and the food was amazing! Our event coordinator, Courtney, was great! When planning a wedding you will have a lot of questions especially towards the end when the event gets closer. Courtney would promptly answer my emails and even make recommendations when I wasn't sure on what to do. She was always happy to talk to me and willing to help on anything she could. Thank You renaissance for a memorable and amazing wedding!
From our very first meeting my husband and I knew that our wedding reception was in great hands with Courtney! We had some specifications and limitations and she worked everything out so we could have what we wanted and needed. The planning part was never complicated and Courtney always straightened me out when my head was spinning! The day-of was flawless from our and our guest point of view. All of the staff were wonderful and I highly recommend.
We recently had our wedding at the Rennaissance Hotel in Providence and cannot begin to say how great everything went. Courtney, the event coordinator, was extremely helpful. She assisted me theoughout the entire process, her recommendations on vendors proved to be an excellent choice. The entire staff was extremely accommodating. Every guest I spoke to said it was the best wedding food they have ever had! I look forward to visiting the Rennaissance again for our Anniversary!
When my fiancé and I started to look at wedding venues, we didn't really know where to begin. I did know that I wanted to have our wedding at a hotel in Providence, so I started contacting any hotel in Providence I could think of. After contacting the Renaissance, I heard back immediately from Courtney. We had our tour of the hotel and she quickly put together a proposal for us that was under our budget, yet also incorporated things we had wanted at our wedding. She was by far the only contact at a venue that obviously wanted us to have our wedding at her venue and made us feel special from day one. Throughout the planning process Courtney was extremely responsive and professional, and always had an answer for everything. She always remembered the small details that I said I wanted at our wedding, and helped me figure out what to do to really transform the room at the hotel. She also contacted our vendors days before our wedding to make sure that we were all the same page. Courtney truly was more like a wedding planner, but that is not even her job title. On the night of the wedding, I was blown away at how everything came together. Steven set everything up in ways that I didn't even think of. Everything was beautiful and perfect. Not only was everything how I pictured and the service amazing, but the food was great too. The Renaissance is also very affordable! Our wedding was on a Sunday, but it still was extremely fun and our guests had a wonderful time. Having our wedding at the Renaissance was the best decision we made!
The Renaissance was the perfect place to have our wedding reception! The Ballroom is on its on floor with its own bathrooms (there will be no wedding crashers) ! The hotel is extremely clean and all my guests loved their rooms. Having our reception at the Renaissance gave our guests the opportunity to spend the night after a long night of celebrating! Our guests raved about the food, my brother who is picky told me the filet was one of the best pieces he has ever had! My husband and I worked with Courtney who is absolutely amazing! She was always cheerful and full of energy! Courtney kept us on track and was there the night of our wedding to make sure everything went perfect. The staff at the Renaissance is amazing as well, there is nothing better then knowing your guests were treated well every time they came in contact with a staff member. The ballroom is extremely clean and they provided us with an awesome dance floor! I can't say enough good things about the Renaissance. I know that any bride and groom will not be disappointed!!
For our wedding weekend on March 11, we utilized the Renaissance in a variety of ways. The hotel hosted the vast majority of our guests in a room block; I reserved a conference room for the wedding morning, with brunch items, coffee, tea and mimosas catered; our friends and family also spent time on Friday and Saturday evening at Public Kitchen. We formally reserved the lounge area there for Friday night, and informally gathered there for an after-party on Saturday.
From the moment my now-husband and I arrived on Thursday evening, we felt appreciated, welcomed and taken care of. The valet staff were friendly and extremely accommodating, and set the tone for the level of service we received all weekend. The front desk staff were wonderful. The only (very minor) hiccup was that it seemed that some individuals on our room block did not receive the welcome bags that we provided. It did seem that all of the guests who booked outside of our block, whose names I provided to the front desk ahead of time, did receive one - so I'm sure it was just a simple oversight. One individual at the front desk was extra-helpful and friendly - I can't remember his name, unfortunately, but I do remember that he and his wife were married in Providence as well (the Biltmore perhaps).
Courtney Maleakas was my primary contact in the weeks and months leading up to the wedding, and she handled every request I had promptly, professionally and efficiently - a bride's dream! I emailed (/nagged) her many, many times for updates to our room block and she responded quickly each time. I reserved a conference room so that my bridesmaids and I could have our hair and makeup done together on the morning of the wedding, and the catering setup was perfect - everything we could've wanted and more (and even looked so nice when we walked in the room!). The quality of the food and beverage (along with the service of the staff assigned to us that day) was excellent.
When my husband and I returned to our suite after the wedding after-party, the bottle of champagne and plate of strawberries that Courtney had sent up to us was such a thoughtful touch, and a lovely way to top off an amazing night. One additional perk that made the weekend much easier - most of our guests requested early check-in, and I have yet to hear from any guests that were not accommodated. This enabled many guests to check in to their rooms first, get settled, and then catch the shuttle to our venue - we are very grateful!
Lastly, the staff at Public Kitchen were wonderful and easy to work with, despite some hiccups in the planning stages. The events coordinator there was unresponsive to say the least - but her replacement, Christopher, was fantastic. The service from the bartenders and waitresses was excellent as well.
I would easily give the Renaissance five stars, and will certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a hotel to host an event or a wedding room block. My husband and I will definitely continue to stay there when we visit Providence. Thank you to the staff in every area of the hotel - we were able to relax on our wedding weekend knowing that we and our guests were in such good hands!
Where to begin! From the moment we stepped into the absolutely beautiful Renaissance Hotel in Providence and met with Courtney Maleakas, we were impressed. Courtney is the utmost professional who is extremely knowledgeable and full of fabulous ideas and suggestions. Her attention to detail is superior. Courtney was always in contact with both my daughter and me throughout the whole wedding planning period and especially the days leading up to the wedding. The staff involved in all aspects are just as amazing. Steven's expertise in bringing my daughters vision of how she would like the ballroom a d cocktail area at the reception to look was perfect. His a ability to pull a room together is superb! The food was absolutely delicious - our guests have been raving about how tasty everything was - from the pasta station (highly recommend this) to the passed appetizers to the dinner! In addition to Courtney and Steven the waitstaff at the reception were top notch. The entire staff and valet at the Renaissance were excellent. Attentive, friendly, and always going out of their way to assist not only the bride and her family but all of our guests. The rooms are gorgeous with beautiful views of the city. Our post party at Public was a great way to end the evening. The pizza was wonderful and Sheila and Jay were a pleasure to work with. My husband and I, our families and friends wholeheaetedly agree there is no better venue for a wedding in Providence than the Renaissance Hotel.
Our wedding was 5 days ago and the reviews we got from our family and friends were amazing. Courtney, the coordinator, was incredible. She was very detailed and organized and always responded to e-mails in a timely manner. She helped so that everything ran smoothly and on time. The Renaissance staff was incredibly accommodating from arrival to check-out. One of my family members room was not ready at check-in and they gave her an upgrade. From the tasting to the actual wedding service the food was wonderful. It was hot and everyone enjoyed their meal. Everyone in attendance at the wedding loved the convenience of having the ceremony and reception in the same hotel. The room looked beautiful. I cannot say enough positive things about Courtney and the entire staff there. If I had to do it all over again I wouldn't have changed a thing!
I could write forever about our experience at the Renaissance. It was the perfect experience. From the moment we met Courtney Maleakas (after seeing 10 other venues in MA and NH) we were crazy about her and the hotel. My husband and I didn't have any great vision for our wedding - we wanted an all out party and we wanted to fit our guest list of 275 and our budget. What came together over a 10 month period was simply amazing. Courtney helped me develop a vision and was EVER so patient when I had difficulties making decisions. Courtney worked hard to offer alternative options to us that would better fit our style, vision, and budget. Everything from timely responses to emails, to planning our cocktail hour at Public, to a tailored grab and go late night slider snack for our guests provided us with the most stress free experience. From the second we got to the hotel we were treated like royalty and felt so welcome and taken care of. Every person from the valet staff and concierge, to the waitstaff and bar tenders, to event coordinators Steven and Courtney were lovely to be around and really seemed to enjoy what thet do for a living. I cannot thank you all enough. A special thank you to Courtney- she will forever be one of my favorite people. I would recommend a stay, a wedding, a post wedding day brunch (even more - all three :) like we did) at the Renaissance to ANYONE!
My husband and I had a wonderful time at our wedding and reception! We were married in the 33rd Degree Room and had our reception in half of the ballroom. We have nothing but great memories from the Renaissance. We had a small wedding, around 50 people, and everyone raved about the venue and the food! Our pictures are absolutely beautiful. I had wanted to do pictures at the State house but we didn't have enough time as we didn't want to see each other prior to the ceremony. We took pictures outside the hotel, in the lobby and the ballroom. The lobby pictures were amazing! There are so many ornate pieces of furniture and angles, they came out amazing. The staff was very helpful in getting us the things we needed, I would highly recommend this venue for every bride!
We absolutely LOVE the Renaissance, Courtney and her fab staff! From the first time we visited the venue, to the food tasting and the big day the service at the Renaissance was top notch. The food the day of was just as delicious as the tasting. The rooms were beautiful, the service was stellar and Courtney is the best event planner! She made herself available and was in constant communication with us before the wedding day to ensure it was everything we wanted and more.
If you're looking for a posh hotel with unique history, in downtown and with great views, the Renaissance is it. Our guests loved their stay and Courtney made sure all of our needs were met.
Our day was everything we ever dreamed of and more. We were focused on food and drinks which Courtney provided us with a great package for our needs. The cake selection from their vendors was excellent and the venue itself was extremely romantic and accessible. Thank you Courtney and Renaissance team for the best day EVER :)
My husband and I could not have had a better experience at the Renaissance and I would recommend it to everyone. Early on we decided we wanted our reception to be at a hotel because both sides were coming in from out of town. Since our wedding, we have received numerous comments from our guests about how beautiful the hotel was, its great location, and how amazing and helpful all the staff was. One example of how the Renaissance was so great is that the hotel was extremely flexible with our block of rooms. We were unsure how many people from out of town would be able to make it and when we got a sense that we were going to fill up our block, Courtney (the greatest wedding coordinator) was able to increase our block by 25 rooms (and this is for Friday and Saturday nights at the hotel). The hotel was also wonderful because of the beautiful ballroom and the bar (Public).
Working with Courtney was a fantastic experience. She was so prompt in answering all of my questions. I also appreciated that whenever we had a question or were unsure of something she gave her honest assessment. There are so many small details that make up a wedding and to have someone as knowledgeable as Courtney to bounce ideas off of was an incredible resource.
My husband and I looked at a few other venues, but we decided on the Renaissance for a few reasons.
First and foremost, after our first meeting, we trusted Courtney completely and she delivered. There was not one single hiccup during our entire wedding and it is because Courtney, Stephen and the staff were so competent. Courtney went above and beyond for my husband and I to make the reception amazing. Not only from the little details, like having all the table, chairs, place settings, guest table set up exactly as we had discussed it, but she even upgraded our room for Friday and Saturday nights. There was no reason she needed to do this; she just goes above and beyond for you.
Second, we decided on the hotel because the ballroom is wide open with no barriers. We had a larger wedding (220 guests) and it was important that everyone felt comfortable and together. Courtney and Stephen made the room look so beautiful and everyone kept on commenting on how intimate the reception felt.
Third, the location of the hotel and its design was perfect for our guests. We wanted our guests to feel comfortable in the hotel, be able to travel easily to and from the hotel, and to have a nice area to gather and hang out together. Also, all of our guests loved the bar in the hotel. The bartenders were amazing! Everyone gathered there the night before the rehearsal, after the rehearsal and after the wedding and they were so accommodating. If you have a large family or have a lot of guests from out of town, the Renaissance is the perfect place to have your reception. Our guests could not have been more pleased with the hotel and the staff.
Overall, the Renaissance and Courtney did an amazing job. If you are thinking about having your reception at a hotel in Providence, I would look at the Renaissance first.
This hotel was everything and more on our special day! The hotel is very beautiful and the rooms are awesome. We had family and friends that flew in from other states for our wedding and they stayed at the hotel and they raved about how beautiful everything was and the staff was so attentive. Just excellent customer service. I cannot put into words how great our experience was. Courtney is the absolute best! She was there every step of the way in helping us with the planning and coordination. She wears many hats and she wears them very well. The food was also great! Last year we attended the wedding of my wife's best friend and we fell in love with the overall service and the beauty of the hotel so we decided to have our wedding there. I would highly recommend this hotel and Courtney to anyone who is looking for a venue to have their wedding.
Easy to work with best staff and service see guest accommodations for our full thoughts!
My parents wanted to host a wedding celebration for Mark and me. After visiting numerous venues throughout Rhode Island they met Courtney Maleakas at The Renaissance Providence Hotel and knew immediately that this would be the perfect venue. She was kind, sincere and extremely willing to accommodate our needs/requests. From holding rooms with State House views for our out of town guests to planning the catering and beverages for our wonderful dinner, Courtney was professional yet warm. The entire team was superb during our 3 night stay!
I would highly recommend hosting your wedding at The Renaissance Providence Hotel.
Living in Texas and trying to plan a wedding in RI was overwhelming on its own. Working with Courtney to plan my wedding was the best part of my whole wedding planning experience. I picked the venue based off of pictures but what really sold me was Courtney's willingness to make my wedding everything I wanted it to be. My ideal wedding was a little bit out of the box, not your traditional sit down dinner type reception. Courtney worked with me to create a menu just for my event(drinks and desserts) and it was great not having to be limited to the venue menu only. Since we did not do a traditional sit down dinner Courtney was able to create the reception room to be more of a lounge type area, and let me tell you her team did a great job at creating a gorgeous room. The entire planning process was easy with her and she kept in touch with me every step of the way. Then on our wedding week the hotel was amazing--- the room, the service, everything was just top notch. It even snowed on our wedding day so we did pictures inside...the hotel is just beautiful. Thank you Courtney for making my wedding day a beautiful one! --Sharon
The event coordinators at the Renaissance in Providence, RI did a wonderful job with our wedding. Courtney was extremely responsive, patient, organized, detail and helpful throughout the entire planning process (I had 6 months to plan my wedding). She even helped me figure out how to bustle part of my dress after the ceremony. She kept things running smoothly and on time. Steven also did a wonderful job with setting up the reception and the foyer. He made all my requests and ideas come to life. I would highly recommend this venue for any special occasion! Our guests also enjoyed the hor dourves and the entrees.
No words can describe the flexibility and patience that the Renaissance Hotel showed us. A beautiful, elegant venue that reminds one of a rustic, masonic age full of pomp and class.
Our wedding was unique in a couple ways--first, we had a fusion Hindu and Jewish wedding. Because of this, we had a few requests that the Renaissance was more than happy to accommodate. They let us perform an outdoor procession to the ballroom entrance full of music and celebration, as well as had their head Chef make Indian food as part of the menu. We received SO many compliments on the food, both American and Indian.
Second, my guests were mostly from out-of-town, as in not the New England area. Many were from overseas, other parts of the country, or from other East Coast states. The feedback we received on how beautiful the venue and location of the Renaissance was constant. The view of the State House across the way from many guest rooms was so scenic. The Renaissance essentially feels like one is "sitting" on top of Providence, overlooking it in all its beauty past the State House, Providence Place mall, Brown University, and so much more.
Nothing bad to say at all, as the total cost of the venue was very reasonable for how amazingly luxurious this hotel is. They truly know how to host and serve their clients.
Courtney Maleakas is one-of-a-kind, and she is top notch. Her organization and patience leading up to the big day is only cause for more praise. Our wedding was a fantasy-turned-reality, and a lot of it had to do with Courtney and the way she conducted herself on behalf of the Renaissance. We'll absolutely remember this weekend for the rest of our lives!
I can not say enough good things about the Renaissance, Courtney, Steven, and their teams. Every one we met was hands down 5 stars and did a phenomenal job! During the entire process, Courtney was detail oriented and on top of her game. She helped me coordinate every aspect of our wedding, and I truly appreciate all of her time, effort and attention to detail. The food for our wedding was fantastic. Our guest raved about the quality, and presentation of the food. Steven was even able to get my husbands favorite beers in house to have as part of the open bar during our reception. We received comments not only on the types of beer, but the number of different beers we were able to serve as part of the open bar package. The Renaissance hotel works with 3 different bakeries and after trying them all I would highly recommend Sin Bakery. The wedding cake looked and tasted amazing. Guests (and the Renaissance staff) could not stop commenting on how authentic our grooms cake looked (we did a hamburger cake with a mug of Guinness beer Rice Krispy treat). It was really important to my husband and I that the flow of the wedding be smooth. We wanted to make sure guests didn't feel rushed, but that food was coming out at a reasonable pace and we were able to leave time for everyone to enjoy the band on the dance floor. Courtney worked with us to put together a timeline for the reception and reassured us the day of that everything was coming out exactly to plan. The level of service during the entire event was top notch. By our actual wedding day I felt like I was planning our wedding with a friend, instead of a vendor. My only regret is after a year of planning I have to say goodbye to Courtney and her team.
We had our wedding reception at the Renaissance on 10/4/14 and cannot say enough about the entire staff at the hotel. We initially wanted our wedding in Boston, but after researching the cost, we decided to expand our search. I grew up in the Providence area, so decided to give it a try - we were not disappointed. Providence gave us our desired “city” feel without the overwhelming price tag. After visiting some nearby venues, we decided that the Renaissance was the place for us!
We dealt with Courtney who is the sales manager at the hotel. This title does not do her justice because she was more like a wedding planner who guided us through every step of the way. She was extremely responsive, professional and did everything she could to make this day special for us. I felt completely at ease working with her and I never felt concerned that things would fall through the cracks, etc.... a great feeling when trying to coordinate SO many moving parts. I truly respect the work she does and she does an amazing job. She was there for most of our wedding day to help move things along. There were a couple other head staff members (Patrick and another woman) who made sure everything went smoothly. They were awesome as well and I felt like they truly wanted to take care of us- what a nice feeling.
The function room was a great space. There is only one wedding per day and the room is spacious without feeling like a convention center. We had 138 guests and it felt very comfortable…not crowded in the least. It also had a great foyer area just outside the function room where the bar was located. This is where we had our cocktail hour and it was a great area for guests to chat and take a break from the dance floor.
The food was also fantastic. We had 4 passed hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour. They were all very tasty and people have told us that there was *plenty* to go around. Nothing is worse than going to a wedding with skimpy hors d'oeuvres! I do wish we ate more of them, as we immediately started talking to guests on arrival. In hindsight, we should have taken advantage of the small bridal party room, if nothing else, to eat a few hors d’oeuvres before chatting with guests (I love hors d’oeuvres). Our entrees were awesome...the filet was cooked perfectly and my haddock was excellent. We have heard the same from many guests.
The hotel itself was perfect. We chose the hotel setting for the convenience of having a great wedding space with the benefit of on-site accommodations for our guests….no driving or shuttles. The lobby area was just re-done and is more sophisticated than it looked in the past (kudos to the Renaissance decorator!!). The feel of the hotel is comfortable, stylish and friendly. It is a higher end hotel without that "stuffy" feeling. Also, it didn't feel like a convention center or a run-of-the-mill chain hotel (although technically it is a chain). The rooms were clean, stylish and spacious. The beds were very comfortable. The hotel is very close to the highway, which made it convenient for our guests. It is also located close to many other restaurants in the area.
I am trying to think of any "cons" to the hotel, but none come to mind. The guests did have to pay for valet parking, but this is expected at most all city weddings and no one complained about it. Overall, we couldn't be happier with the Renaissance and would recommend it to anyone considering their wedding in Providence!
When our little girl was born it was her father's and my dream to one day give her away in marriage with some fairy tale wedding. Aside from her fiancee, now husband, The Renaissance made that dream come true! From the moment we pulled in front of the prospective venue of our children's choice, to the moment we met Courtney, a true God send, we knew we had to look no further! She truly surpassed ALL our expectations with all the planning along with her wonderful "sidekick", Steve! AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING! From the Valet attendants, to the front desk employees, to the kitchen personnel, to the servers, to the beautiful decor and surroundings in just the lobby, the powder rooms, and even the elevators are spectacular! The food…out of this world! AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING!!! Living not too far from the Renaissance, it was a decision to stay and further experience our fairytale with a buffet breakfast for our guests. Once again, and true to form, amazing and thoughtful! Even taking our centerpieces from the night before and using them again in the morning for us!! Little touches like that that a bride may not be concerned with is thought of by these magnificent people!!! You will be sure to hold them all in a place in your hearts forever. I know I have!! By the way…did I say AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING!!???
The wedding could not have gone any smoother. From those who facilitate parking, to the fantastic front end staff, through those who reorganize the guest rooms, they all exceeded expectations. With over 100 guests traveling from across the country to join 150 locals, a positive travel experience was a key objective. The location next to the River Walk, East Side, and the Providence Place Mall was an unexpected plus.
The wedding evening was fantastic and we would enthusiastically recommend the facility. The food and beverage service was all one could expect. Most importantly the bride and her mom were not disappointed by one segment of the evening.
For a year my three daughters and my wife worked in collaboration with Courtney Maleakas. She could not have been more helpful or proactive. Her level or patience was only surpassed by her ability to anticipate any potential obstacles to ensuring the evening was a magical event.
On Sunday the bride and groom's friends took to social media to express their thoughts on the venue and evening. My comments above do not give justice, nor accurately reflect, their excitement regarding the previous evening.
As a father I thought I understood how important the planning and execution of this evening would be. A year ago I had no idea how involved the process actually is. I also did not truly appreciate how critical every minute detail of the wedding would be to the bride and how vital that every single facet of the wedding was to the bride. She wanted the evening to be perfect and frankly, even the most ardent critic would have trouble finding fault with any aspect of the wedding.
This was our first wedding of three (hopefully in a few years!!) and we could not have been any more pleased with Courtney or the other members of the Renaissance Team. The bride and her mother considered several venues throughout Rhode Island, they made an excellent selection.
We were beyond happy with our wedding at the Renaissance! Courtney, Lisa and Steven are an amazing team, as well as Dino and the staff from Public! Courtney always got back to me with an answer to all my crazy questions right away! I was so comfortable knowing our day was in her hands. Steven was amazing in setting up the ballroom and all the extras we had brought for the day. He exceeded our expectations and was even just a great person to have there that night and talk with! LIsa was also there to make sure things went smoothly. She helped me out in my "hangry" moments after taking millions of pictures and made sure my bridal party, family and I were taken care of.
Cocktail hour also exceeded our expectations. When booking the hotel, Temple was still there which was a huge factor in us choosing the Renaissance. I was upset when it switched over to Public only because it was such a different vibe. I then realized it was equally, if not more, of a cool place. The hors d'oeuvres were better than we ever expected and so many of our guests can't stop talking about them! We even had guests write in our guest book that Public was the best restaurant they've ever been to!
The main courses in general were amazing, too! We had several guests tell us it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding. We had such a hard time choosing at our food tasting but were able to narrow it down. I finished my entire meal (didn't care about my mermaid silhouette dress...it was too delicious!)
We had guests stay the night and every single one of them complimented the room and even the staff. My father-in-law is an early riser and he was so thankful to the staff and valet as they helped him find coffee in the wee hours of the morning!
The staff and bartenders were amazing, too. They made sure the groom and I were happy and we certainly were! Thank you Renaissance for giving us the best night of our lives!
My wedding was in September 2013. We had the best experience possible at the Renaissance. When we first met with Courtney, we knew that the Renaissance was the place for our reception. Courtney was so helpful every step of the way, responding to every question I asked almost immediately (which is important to a bride!). The food was amazing as well. The Renaissance makes sure every detail is exactly how you want it and makes you feel special without breaking the bank. While our reception wasn't cheap, it wasn't as expensive as many other places for what we got. The food, the location, the service...everything was perfect and we couldn't have asked for anything more. I highly advise using the Renaissance for your reception if you have the chance. You won't regret it!
This hotel is easily the nicest in Providence. It is close to everything, the mall (which provided all the guests with plenty to do!), the river walk, great restaurants, etc. The architecture is historic (a converted Masonic temple) and the furnishings are modern/gothic. Everyone who stayed there REALLY enjoyed their stay, as the hotel employees were always polite and eager to help with all things needed for a wedding!
Thanks again!

We could not have asked for a better venue. The hotel was beautiful and the staff was so helpful!!! Everything was amazing!
We worked with Sarah at the Renaissance and can not thank her enough for making our wedding perfect!! The staff was wonderful!! The food was amazing!! The atmosphere was beautiful!! Our guests were impressed and all had an amazing time!! I can not say enough about how perfect everything was!!
The Renaissance was a great place for our wedding. The food was fantastic as well as the service. Top notch all the way!
we had to change our reception venue 3 days before the wedding due to a power outage from the hurricane. Janet and her staff at the Renaissance Hotel stepped in and offered to match everything we had planned at our previous venue including the price. They made our wedding my dream wedding, something out of a fairytale. Not only did they take care of everything so we wouldn't have to stress out, but the meals we had chosen at our last venue were ones they didn't offer, and they made them anyways, for the same price and probably better than the other place! the ballroom was GORGEOUS,the service was impeccable, cocktail hour was amazing...every single one of my 200+ guests raved about the food, the place, the service. every person told me it was the best wedding they had ever been to. not only did the Renaissance do all of this for us in only 3 days, but they also gave us the Presidential Suite for our wedding night for free! the room was the most amazing room we had ever seen! i honestly and truely can't say enough about the location and the staff at the Renaissance Hotel, they made my wedding a dream come true! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
Fantastic event manager extraordinaire Janet Karchner is amazing. Got off to a slow start with Janet but she made up for it. The wedding day ran smoothly thanks to her. She remembered every detail and was there whenever I needed anything. Can't say enough good things about her. Even my guests remarked on her wonderful attentiveness. I had a small problem regarding rooms being ready on day before wedding but everything else went so smoothly it is negligible. Thanks Janet!
Absolutely beautiful ballroom and cocktail area! Love the lobby - great backdrop for pictures. Very luxurious guest rooms.
