***WE HAD OUR WEDDING HOTEL BLOCK WITH THEM, NOT OUR ACTUAL WEDDING***
Do not, I repeat do not go with the renaissance for a hotel block. It was awful. The worst experience with a vendor for our wedding day. We had our wedding across the river at City View Event Center. This was the closest hotel to the reception space. Our date was 8/5/23. The whole experience was horrendous. We were told we would get the website for our guest within a week, it was a month later that we got it after the groom and I reached out at least 2 times and called their corporate . We finally got the link for people to book their rooms. But then the link wouldn’t work. So we gave some of our guest the number to call and when they called and spoke to the person that was in charge of our wedding block, she did not put them on our wedding block so they didn’t count towards our numbers. When I called and talked to the actual person myself, she had no recollection of them ever calling her and didn’t know what I was talking about. And then magically they were added to our room block?? Weird… The website they created for our guests to book on had our name and date wrong. We again reached out and our date was fixed but our name was not. So we reached out AGAIN and they said they would fix it. IT WAS NEVER FIXED. So I reached out again regarding the name and was told that they would fix it, and again, never fixed. When I called for what seemed like the 25th time I was told that I would receive an email with more details. When I received the email, it was details about our rehearsal dinner. When we first started booking the block, we were asked if we were interested in having the rehearsal there, I said that we were interested and was told information would be sent. The information was never sent to us, and with it already being difficult, we decided to go with a different option. Well when I received the email stating that I had picked out what food was going to be served at the rehearsal I was confused because I clearly never picked out food for anything with them.
Save yourself the hassle. This caused so much stress leading up to our wedding. Go with a different hotel, this one is not worth it at all.

The staff was very professional, organized and made the day flow easily! The venue is beautiful, the food was delicious and the drinks were refreshing. It was everything we dreamed of. HIGHLY recommend having your wedding here!

We hosted our wedding at this event and though it was a good time overall, there were several issues that happened the night of including not putting the correct alcohol out (we paid for better than they served) and things like that. The hotel compensated us for some of the more egregious errors (like serving the INCORRECT appetizer) did not compensate us for the alcohol issue or another we had as they considered the matter resolved after my parents had to track down managers to get things fixed.
They also charge a 23% service charge which is supposed to cover tips but the bartenders still had tip jars out compelling our guests to break out the wallets for even more. For the price you pay to host events here, the attention to detail just isn't there.
A couple other things - at 11pm, they have a hard deadline for reception ending, though we still had plenty of guests out there, the lights came on and music was forced to end at 11pm on the dot. Also when we arrived for the reception, we were car number about 20 in line and it took 5-10min of waiting in a line of cars for valet for us to even get in and enjoy our own wedding. I would have expected them to prepare for a large number of cars at this time and be ready but this was not the case.
Overall it was a good experience but for the price you pay, I didn't expect to have this many issues.

Our wedding was a DREAM! The perfect NYE reception!! After having to postpone our wedding a year due to COVID, we chose to move our reception to the Renaissance.... It was the best choice we could have made! Everything was incredible from the decorations to the food. Chef Michael Rigot is awesome!! At our tasting, we were so impressed with not only his menu but also his personality, that we chose to have our rehearsal dinner with him as well. Our guests are still raving about the food (make sure you get the lamb chops app). Wedding communication in general is tough, especially during the busy season. We initially worked with Laurie, but after poor communication we were switched to Allie and she was wonderful. She was prompt to answer my excessive emails and helped in any way she could. If you are looking at ~300+ venues in Toledo, look no further. With its fun downtown atmosphere, convenient onsite rooms for guests and beautiful modern designs, it is the perfect reception venue.

Perfect for large parties and to have everything in one place. We held our reception here, our after party and our brunch and all of our guests could enjoy the venue and stay the night there without worrying about driving or transportation to any place else! We had 4 different coordinators throughout all of the covid situation in 2020 but the Renaissance was so flexible about rescheduling, refunding and booking our 2021 date! Everyone was knowledgeable, professional, responsive, and congenial! Our last coordinator was Allie and she was an absolute joy to work with! The director and other coordinators present the day of were phenomenal! All hands on deck to make our day special and comfortable for all of our guests! The ballroom is beautiful, MASSIVE, and the food is incredible! There was some confusion with the brunch staff and the amount of bars for our cocktail hour but everything worked out! As I said the coordinators are very responsive! Would recommend this venue to any couple but especially those with large guest lists and/or id you have a lot of guests coming in from out of town!

My wedding was a nightmare!
They ruined the best day of my life. This hotel's sales team has to be the most unprofessional, condesending people I have ever dealt with in my life. After months of reaching out to them Angie, the director of sales, finally called my husband and I to go over our issues. She said verbatim "It's not like we can go back and change anything now so what would you like to see happen from our side of things?" Whatever you do, do not have your wedding at this venue.
1. From day 1 we were assigned to a sales manager by the name of Laurie. This woman never answers phone calls, voicemails, smoke signals, text messages. Most of the earlier stages of planning our wedding we spent chasing Laurie around.
2. The room block situation was a mess. I wish this post didn’t have a character limit.
3. They overbooked our honeymoon suite. Since they overbooked our suite they placed us in junior suites the night before. We weren't able to move into the honeymoon suite until 2pm the day of our wedding. I called the front desk repeatedly to see when the room would be ready because me and my bridesmaids were stuck in the junior suite instead of the Presidential suite. One of my bridesmaids went to the presidential suite to ask the housekeeper when they would be finished. When she approached the housekeeper she was sitting down in a chair on her Facebook scrolling instead of cleaning the room. When the Presidential suite was finally ready I had to request someone come up to help me move all of our belongings along with all of our vendors items to the new suite. They sent one person. I'm in the middle of getting my makeup done and I'm hauling all of these items to another suite on my wedding day.
4.The rehearsal was a disaster. The wedding party met in the lobby at 7pm the day before the wedding. Laurie said that she had a set location for us to do our rehearsal. We go to the front desk to see if someone could show us where this location was. Every single front desk employee was completely clueless. If she had a designated person we wouldn't have had this issue. We eventually went downstairs and found the outdoor space where some other weddings are held from time to time. We decided to use this space to rehearse. We liked how it looked so we requested that we have our ceremony outside instead of inside since we did the rehearsal outside.
5. The valet employees lost the keys to our family's cars. After the rehearsal we all were heading to a restaurant for our rehearsal dinner. I was an hour late to my rehearsal dinner because they forgot to pull my husband's car around. 3 family members were irate that the valet lost their keys.
6. The morning of our wedding day it was a wind storm outside. My husband contacted Laurie and told her that we were concerned about the wind. According to Angie and Laurie, they are not able to move the ceremony inside no matter what the weather calls for. Not one person told us that it was wind tunnel in that area. I couldn't hear the violin quartet I paid for, my ceremony couldn't be recorded because of the wind obstructing the sound and our officiant's mic wasn't working. I couldn't even hear my husband read his vows to me.
7. Surprise final balance. Allie emails us during our honeymoon and tells us that we owe the Toledo Renaissance an additional $2029.95 because they made an error on their end and did not calculate our total cost. Keep in mind we confirmed and paid our total with Laurie on our wedding day.

I just had my son and daughter-in-law's wedding at the Renaissance and I could not have been happier. We worked exclusively with Laurie Cuckler and she is outstanding. Laurie is extremely detail oriented and very professional and made sure that everything was taken care of. I know how busy Laurie is but she makes you feel like your event is the only event that she is working on. My (many!) calls and/texts were always promptly answered and no request was too big or small. Laurie even contacted some of my other vendors to make sure that the bride's vision was being communicated properly. Laurie helped guide us with every decision that needed to be made. She is such an asset to the Marriott brand.
The food for both our cocktail hour and the actual reception was so delicious. The appetizers were beautifully displayed and extremely plentiful. The dinners were cooked to perfection which I assume is not an easy task with such a large number of people. We personally spoke with Chef on a couple of occasions where he asked our preferences/likes/dislikes. He made recommendations and the final product was spot on. He really outdid himself.
If you are looking for a venue that checks all the boxes, you will not be disappointed with the Renaissance.

The Renaissance was perfect for our daughter and son-in-law ‘s wedding reception . Laurie,Chef and the rest of the staff made their reception absolutely perfect! It was a pleasure to work with Laurie and highly recommend this downtown jewel.

I'm not even sure where to begin!! The Renaissance Hotel is the BEST spot to host your wedding reception...and ceremony! We were originally a May 2020 wedding and unfortunately decided to postpone until May 2021 and the staff was so helpful and accommodating to us during this already extremely stressful time. Now a year later, we had the day of our dreams and that was all because of the staff at the Renaissance hotel that kept the day running so smooth and looking absolutely beautiful. Laurie was such a pleasure to work with and answered EVERY SINGLE ONE of our questions leading up to the day. Lastly...we have gotten so many amazing comments and compliments on the food, location and venue from our guests...one guest even claimed that our wedding was a "Top 3" wedding he's ever been to! We are so happy we booked with the Renaissance and if we could do it all over again...we SO would.

This venue is perfect for a wedding of any size! It checked all of our boxes in what we were looking for in a venue, and checked all the boxes for guests as well! Our guests STILL have not stopped raving about how beautiful it was, how friendly the staff was, how DELICIOUS the food was, how fun it was to be downtown and have a rooftop party, and how convenient it was to be able to stay at the same location after a night of fun! Working with Mackenzie and her staff was a breeze! She helped us execute our dream wedding and it was more beautiful than we could have ever imagined! From places to get ready for the day all the way to kicking your shoes off at the end of the night, it was the perfect place for all wedding activities!

My husband and I had our wedding reception at the Renaissance on 10/24. I cannot recommend this venue enough!!! Laurie and Chef are the most helpful and accommodating people and so so easy to work with. We had an amazing experience working with them, even with all the plans changing constantly during a pandemic. Our reception looked beautiful and the food was amazing!!! Our guests loved everything and also loved it was convenient at a hotel they could stay the night in after. I can't thank this venue enough for all they did to make our reception amazing!

The Renaissance was absolutely perfect. As if planning a wedding isn’t stressful enough... planning a wedding in the midst of a pandemic is quite the challenge. Our venue could not have been better to work with. Everyone was so professional, the venue was so clean, and they made my life so easy. Laurie was so responsive and stayed in contact during the entire process. The FOOD..... the food was amazing! Our guests could not stop talking about how perfect everything came together, but honestly it was all because of how great the Renaissance was. They had each detail thought out to accommodate each of our guests so that everyone could stay safe! Could not recommend them more.

My wife and I got engaged 18 months ago. We knew right away we wanted to get married at Renaissance Toledo Downtown because of the gorgeous inside and riverfront view. It was also a bonus they are very LGBTQ friendly. We worked with Laurie and she was absolutely AMAZING. Every step of the way, answering any questions we had. She went above and beyond to make sure our day was beautiful. Our guests bragged all night about how wonderful she was. The entire staff from the front desk to the valet were very helpful. We were stress free getting ready knowing we were being taken care of. We could not have asked for a better day and Venue to get married at.

My daughter's wedding and reception was at the Renaissance in August 2020. I can not say enough good things about the Renaissance and their service. The wedding was supposed to be at a church which could no longer accommodate our size of 250 due to Covid restrictions. The Renaissance was able to host our wedding on the patio even though it was last minute. The wedding was beautiful. The ladies used a suite to get ready, and it was perfect! The ballroom was spacious and beautiful. They made everyone comfortable amongst the Covid restrictions, and we were able to enjoy the special day. Some guests even mentioned that it was nice it was to feel like things were "normal" in our crazy times. We also had guests say it was the best wedding food they ever had. It truly was delicious. From beginning to end the service was amazing. Our coordinator, Laurie, answered all our questions and took care of us from beginning to end. I dont think you can go wrong having your reception at the Renaissance. They are a Class Act!

Save yourself the run around and book your wedding with the team at Renaissance Toledo Downtown Hotel! I made the mistake of booking with another vendor originally. 2 months before my wedding day, our original reception venue permanently closed. Not only did we have COVID to worry about, but then we also had no space to have our reception. Laurie and the entire Renaissance staff stepped in to save our day!! Laurie was quick to respond to my messages and so lovely to work with! The entire staff helped make our day so special and we are so grateful for them! I highly recommend booking with the Renaissance from the beginning to save yourself the headache! Thank you Laurie and the Renaissance staff!

The Renaissance Toledo was a DREAM wedding venue! Not only is it such a uniquely beautiful and modern hotel, but the staff was incredible to work with. Laurie made our entire process so easy. She was so accommodating, quick with her responses and truly became a friend during the process. We were able to have a tasting of the most delicious food, and it really came out the exact same way on the wedding day! From our very first visit, until we left the day after our wedding, it was a wonderful experience and we will forever love this place!

Hands down the best venue and staff in Toledo! Our wedding was this past weekend. My girls and I used the Glass City suite to get ready and it was STUNNING! The ballroom was perfect for the reception. We had our after party up at the Heights! Guest (we had 40 rooms booked for Saturday night) found that it was a great idea to have their rooms in same location as the reception! FOOD was on point! The chefs did a great job!! The valet crew handled the snow and guest perfectly! Last but not least....Laurie Cuckler was our wedding coordinator at Renaissance Toledo and she was so helpful and very professional. We have been planning our wedding since before they even opened and she made it soooo easy! She is very good at her job! I can’t thank you all enough!

My husband and I had our wedding reception at The Renaissance this past June. From the beginning of the planning process, to the very end, we could not have been more thankful for the wonderful experience that we had with Renaissance! Laurie, Britt, and all of the staff made us feel welcome and excited about our wedding day at every meeting we had. Our friends and family could not stop talking about how beautiful the venue was and how delicious the food was. Our guests continued to celebrate with us at the rooftop bar which was a perfect way to end the night! Our wedding day was better than what we dreamt of and I will always be grateful to Laurie, Britt and the entire staff at Renaissance. Every Toledo bride should be a Renaissance bride!

We were lucky to have worked with Laurie. She took care of my 567 questions and needs prior to the event like the pro she is. Every meeting we had at the venue was professional but fun- it felt like I was dealing with a friend. Everything about our wedding day was amazing, start to finish. From the Glass City Suite to the amazing photo ops around the property to the delicious food and great service (and Laurie picking leaves out of my dress before I walked down the aisle)... we felt so well taken care of. My groom, parents, and in-laws were also very pleased with the support they received. I couldn’t imagine a better place to get married in Toledo!

This is an excellent venue. Jade and Abbi are fabulous to work with planning our wedding guest rooms and events. I can't say enough good things about them. They are very professional and creative and think about other ways to solve problems. The hotel rooms were excellent too. Very new, clean and nicely appropriated. The food was biggest surprise. It exceeded our expectations. Also the staff in every way was gracious, welcoming and professional.

The venue is beautiful...modern, industrial lobby area for cocktail hour. Delicious and beautifully presented appetizers before the reception. The ballroom is large, high ceilings, neutral color palette, with unique modern chandeliers. The food was delicious and service was very good. Laurie, our coordinator, made sure all the details were managed with expertise. She truly made my son and new daughter's day perfect!

We blocked all of our hotel rooms for our wedding at the Renaissance. The whole team was so great to work with! They answered all of our questions promptly, were easy to work out the details with, gave their expertise in hotel room blocking, were organized with our gift bags, were on top of shuttling guests, etc. Even after the wedding, we had a small event come up and they were nothing short of amazing to work with. The customer service is top notch! Thank you!

We had our daughters wedding reception at the Renaissance Toledo Downtown Hotel this past weekend. What an amazing experience. We worked directly with Laurie Cuckler for the venue and Britt Tisdale for the room blocks. What a stroke of luck that we were paired up with these two dynamos! I am convinced that they could rule the world. There was not one detail that was overlooked. In fact, so many times they had suggestions that we had never even thought of. The room itself was absolutely beautiful, very fairytale like...shoutout to Mager Designs. The food was outstanding. We had a cocktail/appetizer hour before the actual reception. The appetizers were very plentiful and so yummy! We chose a sitdown, duo plate for the reception which consisted of the filet mignon and salmon Wow! The staff was able to bring all the plates out in a very organized and efficient manner, no one was waiting while other people were eating. And the food itself was spectacular. It was absolutely delicious and prepared perfectly. No overcooked meat or salmon. Just melted in our mouths. The entire event went so smoothly and without a hitch that I could just go on and on. Bottom line, I would recommend the Renaissance without hesitation to anyone considering a big event. You will not be disappointed.
*UPDATE: So I just hosted my son and daughter-in-laws wedding at the Renaissance. Obviously I was not exaggerating when I so highly recommended the Renaissance after my daughter's wedding 3 years ago!
I again got to work with Laurie Cuckler and, if possible, she has only gotten better. Laurie is so professional, timely, detail oriented and just a genuinely nice person. I always felt that she was personally vested in my event. She called some of my vendors to make sure that they were understanding the bride's vision and then helped make it a reality. Laurie is such an asset to the Marriott team.
The food at the Renaissance was once again spectacular. They have a new chef since my daughter's wedding and he outdid himself. Everything was cooked perfectly and presented beautifully.
To repeat my last review, I once again cannot recommend the Renaissance enough. For something as important as a wedding reception, I would not want to do it anywhere else.

A little late commenting, but we were absolutely in love with our wedding at The Renaissance Toledo, Ohio. The food, drinks, and atmosphere were all perfect. All of the staff, especially Laurie Perry and Britt Tisdale were fabulous! Everyone made us feel so special, and the facility was beautiful... from The Heights to the ballroom. We wouldn’t change a thing!

Laurie Cuckler and the entire staff at the Renaissance went above and beyond to make our daughters wedding day one to remember. Every detail was met and executed to perfection. Atmosphere was perfect, the food was outstanding, and every one of our guests was treated like royalty. Our event was everything we wanted it to be plus more! Thanks to Laurie and the Renaissance staff. Britt did an amazing job as well with our room block as it was very large and demanding. Never a question left unanswered.
Would do it all again and not change one thing about the day they provided our daughter and now son-in-law. Thanks for such an amazing day and experience in Toledo. The Borders Family

I cannot thank the Renaissance and all of its staff enough for making our wedding day so perfect!!!!! Laurie Cuckler did amazon job creating our vision for the reception!! She was very thorough and very accommodating to our needs. The chef allowed us to make create the menu we wanted for dinner and late snacks!! The food was amazing! I would highly recommend this venue to any couples getting married in the Toledo area!!

people are still talking!!!! My daughters wedding reception was held here, and there is not enough room to say how wonderful it all was. Starting with Haley Gronemeier the first contact we had when the walls were down!! Literally!! The customer service started there and never stopped.Always available for questions or directions on "whats next'. Her reassurance and support was calming and professional all the way thru to the end. I truly don't know what i would have done without her. starting with the staff at the hotel and making sure we had everything we needed and responded quickly. Laurie our banquet coordinator sure made this part roll flawlessly and continued to take things off my plate and lead me towards greatness with our set ups and created a ombiance that took our breathe away. The food was absolutely delicious and my guests still are raving about it. The plate presentations were elegant and flavorful. The cocktail hour set up, food and service was above and beyond. They added their own little touches making this the beginning of a night to remember ! The accommodations were very warm and the view was exciting. The uniqueness of the Renassaince sure entertained my out of town guests. Thanks to all of you that made this event 'A night to remember'.
