Our wedding at the Rivermill was a dream come true! We fell in love with the mill building and that whole feel for our wedding. It was what we wanted. Not a typical wedding venue. From the beginning I asked Kevin and Starr so many questions and they were patient with me and answered them all. I wanted to make sure I understood every detail, price, etc as I didn’t have a wedding planner. We went with the package which includes DJ flowers(for reception) and a bakery. This made finding vendors so much easier. When the DJ we wanted was already booked, we were able to find our own and adjust the package. When the pandemic hit, Kevin was in constant communication with us regarding NH guidelines and all updates. He worked with us when most of our guests were from outside New England and couldn’t travel for our wedding. I am vegan and he added or took away certain things to accommodate my diet. A guest had a true gluten allergy and he had no problem adjusting for that also.
We set up the venue the day before with our personal stuff, table numbers, guestbook, seating chart etc. I really enjoyed this so we got a sneak peak of what things would look like. I also am a control freak so I liked placing things where I wanted them! My mom broke a candle and Kevin grabbed us one of his. My chalkboard smudged and he found us a chalk pen to redo it so my dad didn’t have to run to staples haha!
The night ran so smoothly. Communication and service were perfect. Everyone raved about the food! We didn’t have a personal tasting but they do have open house events to taste their food. Many items we picked we never tasted but it didn’t bother us. We knew it would be delicious and we were not disappointed.
We got to choose how we wanted to handle the alcohol and Kevin updated us throughout the night to make decisions regarding cost. I was happy we could do it by consumption. We had an open bar for cocktail hour. Then open beer and wine until a certain cap was met. Truly only paid for what was consumed which we really prefer.
Starr and Kevin are a married couple and it felt like we got to know and work with real people throughout our planning. Like we were talking to genuine people who wanted to know our needs and concerns. Not a corporation or something impersonal. I am so happy we didn’t feel we were “just another wedding” or a “number”. Especially during the pandemic to know we could rely and trust them was huge. Kevin and Starr always found a way to accommodate whatever we needed. If I asked for it they made it happen! We are so grateful and choosing Rivermill was the best decision we could have made.
Our wedding at Rivermill was perfect! It was such a unique venue and our guests loved that everything was in one location, making logistics easier. All of the details were taken care of and the day of went seamlessly. Thank you so much!
My daughter had her wedding reception here June 22,2019. All of our expectations were exceeded.
The food was fantastic. We had guests from several states any many stated this was the best, wedding reception,
dining they had experienced.
The wedding package made everything easier. The cake was great, the DJ was great and the flowers were beautiful.
Any questions?
My wedding at the Rivermill in June 2019 was a great experience! Their package plan made picking vendors simple and we ended up with fantastic vendors! The wedding cake was the best I've ever had (Confection Art) and I received so many compliments about the prime rib prepared through Liberty Catering! We were able to periodically check out their open house style events to check out the food and really narrow down our options.Kevin and Starr are very helpful and made the process simple and as stress free as I could hope for. I would definitely recommend!
We booked Rivermill for our Nov 10 wedding. It perfectly fit the vibe I was looking for and they were so accommodating with the decor look I wanted. They can also transform just outside the building into a cocktail hour setting (though it ended up being too cold/windy for us to utilize). Kevin was really nice and helpful throughout the planning process. They have complimentary valet and also were able to have a coat check for our guests. We also used the catering that comes with the venue, Liberty Lane, which was also amazing and were able to create delicious apps, entrees, and late-night snacks!! Originally, we were planning to have our ceremony elsewhere, but last minute weather changes caused us to move indoors to Rivermill. They were able to section off part of the room for the ceremony and I gotta say, I think it turned out more perfectly than if we'd held the ceremony outside at our original spot!! Would highly recommend!
My husband and I just got married here a couple of weekends ago and we were thrilled with how everything turned out! I am type-A, neurotic, organized, and anxiety filled and I planned the wedding by myself. There were times when I felt had I known something earlier I would've planned a little less. I was surprised how much the venue staff handled (obviously having never planned a wedding before). If you have the ceremony and reception there, the staff will repurpose decor for you so your ceremony decor doesn't go to waste for the rest of the wedding. They help out with the flow of the ceremony itself on rehearsal day. They pack up all of your decorations, gifts, etc. and have it all ready in boxes for pickup the next day so you don't need a "clean up crew" of your own. In other words, have them go over in detail early on with you what they do/provide before you start over-planning. They're a great family-based group and were extremely helpful all along the way. I definitely recommend Rivermill at Dover Landing!
Starr and Kevin were absolutely fantastic! The venue itself is just stunning and the catering service they provide was delicious. We found the prices were fair and our guests loved the food. They were very accommodating and made our day all that we dreamed of.
Rivermill was the only venue I visited in person and I knew it would be perfect for our wedding. Its location in central Dover is great for out-of-town guests as there are places within walking distance to stay. The mill itself is such a cool space and there is so much you can do to it. Guests loved it. One small but crucial selling point for me was the chairs - they're simple and inoffensive and I knew they would be fine with whatever decorating scheme I chose. It's the little things! The valet parking was an added bonus.
Kevin and Starr are wonderful and they have lots of experience in big events. As some other reviewers have mentioned, they are not as responsive as some wedding vendors in the months leading up to the wedding but, during the week of your wedding, they become super attentive, make it all about your event, and go above and beyond to help you bring your vision to reality. It was a pleasure working with them.
I want to start off by saying that the day of my wedding was perfect and the food was great but everything leading up to it involving Liberty Lane was stressful and kept us up at night. Liberty Lane was the worst at communication which is why we were so stressed out. First, if we asked them a question, like if they needed us to rent anything for them (like buffet tables) via an email it would take days, almost a week, to get a response and they would not response until one of us called and left a message asking the same question. And when we did get a response it would be a simple Yes we need buffet tables , not how many or what size. I constantly felt like they were not reading our emails and were just rushing through it. We have several examples of this type of communication. Next, we never got to do a food tasting. Something we thought everyone did. When we messaged them asking if we would have a chance they told us it was too late and they were in their peak season and could not do a tasting. We were upset and the only reason we waited so long to ask about a tasting is because we thought they would reach out to us about it. Our mistake but still a disappointment. Finally, the straw that broke our back was 3 days before our wedding we were contacted saying they had sent us the wrong invoice and we owed $700 more. This was such a disappointment and shock right before our big day. Our entire time with Liberty Lane felt unorganized, rushed, and even our Wedding Coordinator admitted this was the worst company she has every dealt with. She had spoke with Liberty Lane a few times to go over details and she said no one she spoke with knew what was going on and she too felt they were unorganized.
My husband I got married at the Viewpoint in York Maine. Liberty Lane was one of two preferred vendors, the other was Foster's clambake. We wanted a plated dinner so we went with Liberty Lane. Overall the food was excellent but I was not happy with the service. First, Kevin did not show up to our food tasting, which was a Saturday during a snowstorm. My fiance and I drove two hours in a blizzard to an empty warehouse. It was an honest mistake and Kevin apologized so we rescheduled and moved forward. The actual tasting was mediocre. We chose the filet to serve at our wedding yet we tasted the prime rib. Kevin said it had something to do with not being able to provide the same quality until the day of, so there was no point of trying a different meat. There are also many different appetizers to choose from on the menu. We picked 4 that we thought we might want and those were the only 4 that were made at the tasting. We also used him for desserts because we just wanted mini pastries, not a wedding cake. There were no pastries at the tasting. Although, I wasn't thrilled with the tasting, Kevin’s confidence and experience with the venue left me positive and hoping for the best.
Liberty Lane catered our rehearsal dinner and wedding. Again, the food was really delicious but the service was not. Our rehearsal dinner started an hour late. The girl who showed up had no idea what to do and literally told me that. None of the tables and linens were ready and none of the beer and wine were put on ice in time. There was a miscommunication with the table set up. No one stepped up to the plate to fix it except my husband and his friends who ended up moving the tables themselves and putting the beers on ice. I actually had to step away, in tears and call Kevin and let him know what was going on. We had live music that night as well and timing was all off due to dinner starting late. The next day, at the wedding, the coordinator arrived at 1:45 pm. My wedding started at 3:30. Most of the setup was already done at that point, again by myself, my fiance and my friends. I was told numerous times not to hire a wedding day coordinator because kristy would be there to set up with my directions. How can I give her directions that late while getting hair, makeup, etc done before the wedding and not being seen by guests? Also, my fiance was essential to the bar set up, bringing over the liquor and putting it on ice. During the wedding, the dinner went off without a hitch and as I said the food was excellent. At the end of the reception, which ended at 10 pm, the music stopped. One of our guests brought out a large speaker to bring down to the fire pit. The music was loud and there is a noise ordinance. I witnessed Kevin scream in our guests face, “NO!” and yell at him like he was a child. I understand the guest was wrong in doing this but this should have been handled differently. Liberty Lane was in charge of food and alcohol, not the noise ordinance.
The whole experience at The Rivermill exceeded our expectations. Kevin and Starr worked with us for over a year to create a wedding that was uniquely our own, with food stations, signature beers, and fabulous vendors. The night of the wedding, we felt so well-taken care of, and our guests commented over and over again on how great the staff was. We highly recommend to anyone looking to get married on the seacoast.
Kevin’s team, from Liberty Lane Catering, did a tremendous job for our wedding. Kevin was so helpful during the planning phase of the wedding. He gave us tremendous confidence that all would go smoothly. The food was delicious; the guests all commented that the hors d’oeuvres were still warm when served! The crab cakes were the biggest hit. The prime rib was amazing and the salmon was excellent! The staff, led by Kristi, did a fantastic job. Everyone remarked how friendly they were and how they couldn’t do enough for us. They did a terrific job cleaning up everything. We cannot say enough about the staff, especially. Kristi. She did an excellent job! She checked in frequently and we appreciated that. The various stages of the evening went seamlessly. We would highly recommend Liberty Lane Catering!
Kevin and Starr were great to work with and we were very impressed with the space!

Hi Kristen & Ryan - Thank you for your kind words. We so enjoyed getting to know you and working with you. You did a beautiful job in your decorations! Please keep in touch!
The Rivermill was the perfect spot for our rustic winter wedding. We had 170 people for the ceremony and the reception and it was perfect. They were so accommodating and quick to respond on all questions and changes we had leading up to the big day. There are so many beautiful spots in and around the venue for pictures. There was also never a line at the open bar, which was great. The venue was beautiful and we couldn't have asked for a better place that fit both of us perfectly.
I can't speak highly enough of Starr and Kevin and all of the Rivermill staff. Many of my guests raved about how attentive everyone was, from the valet driver to the bartenders to the waitstaff, who answered last-minute allergy questions. They made our decorations shine throughout the venue and their eye for detail is impeccable. We went with their package, which includes food, the reception venue in a renovated mill building, wedding cake, DJ, valet parking, and some flowers for $110-$125 per person (depending on the time of year you get married, with a minimum of 100 people). I think this is an amazing deal. We also had our ceremony there and it was excellent.
Kevin even bought my dad the beer that he likes and stayed up late the night before the wedding to start setting up. They accommodated several food allergies and preferences on top of our chosen meals. The venue includes an excellent bridal suite and they make sure that the bridal party has food (and beer and wine, if you like) in the suite during cocktail hour as well. They are extremely professional and nothing slips through the cracks--they even tie red ribbons around toasting glasses for kids to make sure they get sparkling cider instead of champagne. Kevin and Starr keep everything moving smoothly, from timing people walking down the aisle to preparing the bridal party to enter the reception. The food was delicious, the service impeccable, and the other vendors from the package were fantastic as well (you can choose from a couple of different vendors in each category).
The reception area is curtained off from the reception area until cocktail hour. Both the reception and ceremony areas areas are in a lovely renovated mill building with high ceilings, exposed brick walls, hardwood floors, and lots of tall windows with a view of the river. It is gorgeous and would suit a variety of wedding styles. I highly, highly recommend Rivermill at Dover Landing--great vendors, a beautiful space, and owners who take care of you and every last detail.
We recently had our Wedding Reception at the Rivermill and it was such a wonderful experience! If you are looking for an affordable and customizable industrial space, look no further.
The Rivermill sits directly on the water and overlooks downtown Dover. It's also just minutes away from Portsmouth. The brick walls, large windows and exposed beams provide a stunning backdrop, and a warm and rustic atmosphere for an elegant wedding.
Kevin, Starr and staff were fantastic to work with and really helped us create the vision we were looking for! They worked with us closely to make sure everything was organized and perfect for our big day. Kevin and Starr were there to direct our vendors in the morning and stayed on throughout the evening to make sure everything ran smoothly during the event. We truly felt that they had everything under control.
Our guests continue to tell us how much fun they had at our wedding. We highly recommend the Rivermill at Dover Landing!
Kevin was great, everything was perfect in the venue!
Liberty Lane was great to work with and their food was amazing. All of my guests RAVED about the food at my wedding. They had great ideas at the planning phase and helped us design a menu that reflected our tastes and the venue we had selected. I would highly recommend Kevin and team for my next event.
Kevin & Starr were amazing to work with. We planned our wedding out of state and, while we were able to do a few different site visits, we still had tons of questions. Kevin was prompt with his responses and incredibly helpful with recommendations for other vendors. The mill space itself is stunning, and requires very minimal decoration, which was perfect for us. Kevin & Starr helped us put together an amazing and beautiful wedding, I highly recommend them if you are looking to get married in NH!
Rivermill did a great job with our wedding. The space itself is beautiful and allowed us to keep the decorations simple. Kevin was responsive throughout the planning process and was there the night of to make sure everything went smoothly. I loved that we were able to really customize what we wanted and he was willing to accommodate and provide suggestions based on his experience. We were really impressed with the food and compared to other venues in the area, it was a great price and value. Thank you!
The Rivermill was amazing from the staff, decor, food and everything went so smooth during the whole process and if there were ever any questions Starr and Kevin were more than happy to answer them!
Kevin and his team were amazing! He went above and beyond to make our day as we wanted it. We used Liberty Lane catering and our guests still talk about the risotto bar. The Rivermill is a beautiful location and perfect for those who like an industrial/rustic theme. I did not have to worry about anything on our wedding day because Kevin took care of it all. I honestly can't say enough good things about them! Everything was perfect.
I had my wedding here on November 14th,2015 and all I can say is that this venue and the experience was nothing short of spectacular. The space itself is stunning and rich in character and charm. The brick walls, exposed beams and large windows provide a beautiful backdrop and create a warm atmosphere for any event but it was especially perfect for a wedding. I found that we didn't need much for decorations because the room itself is the epitome of industrial elegance. The room provided adequate space for the ceremony, tables for the 125 guests that were present, high top tables for cocktail hour, the band, photo booth, bar, and most importantly the dance floor! Kevin and Starr were exceptional to work with. They coordinated the whole day and eased my mind, making sure everything was in place which allowed me to have a stress free day at my own wedding! They provided endless options and I was really able to customize the day and bring to life the wedding exactly as I had envisioned. Kevin and Starr also provided packages and lists of preferred vendors which made the planning process more straightforward and organized, and less daunting and overwhelming. To this day I am still receiving compliments from my guests about how gorgeous the venue was. Hands down, booking this venue was the best decision we made for our wedding! Highly recommended!
We were very happy with the wedding and reception that was held at the Rivermill. I would definitely recommend this venue. The staff were so organized and helped us be at ease on a very exciting day for our family. Kevin was great! He is so personable and went out of his way to help in any way we needed. The transition from wedding to venue was seamless. The space was beautiful for an evening wedding. The food was wonderful. I want to thank Kevin and his staff for everything and for helping us have a stress-free wedding.
We cannot say enough positive things about the Rivermill and Kevin and Starr! . We planned our wedding in a little less than 6 months and Kevin worked with us to make sure that everything was perfect! Our friends and family couldn't believe that this venue was tucked away in downtown Dover and we received compliments all night (and for weeks after) for the fun atmosphere and natural beauty of the setting! We loved the industrial look of the brick, exposed pipes and true renovated "mill" feel of the space. We couldn't have picked a better venue that fit "us" as a couple and our tastes.
We had both our ceremony and reception and the transition between was seamless. They were accommodating for when we wanted to set up our (minimal) decorations and were very knowledgeable throughout the process. They also rolled with the punches when I forgot (oops) to include a whole table of 8 in my email two days before the wedding - within minutes everything was perfectly set up without one complaint or rolled eye. I didn't have a wedding planner but never missed it with the help and support of Kevin and Starr.
We want to thank both of them, as well as all of the other employees, for making our wedding day stress-free, beautiful, and so much fun!
The Rivermill has such a different vibe from traditional wedding venues. It has a more laid-back atmosphere, all while still being beautiful. We were thrilled with the catering-all of the food was delicious and our guests were very happy. Kevin and Starr go above and beyond to make your day special and their prices are very reasonable.
Having our reception at the Rivermill was the best decision we made during the wedding planning process. We chose the package option and used all of their recommended vendors for catering, flowers, cake and DJ. Everything exceeded our expectations! Not only is the space beautiful and perfectly suited for dinner and dancing, but Kevin and Starr work with you in the weeks leading up to the wedding to ensure that all the little details that help the reception run smoothly are thought through and executed to a T. They are so kind and helpful and give you a lot of options to help make your wedding truly unique and expressive of you as a couple even if you go with the "package". Our wedding was "us" and our guests raved about the space, the food, the service - everything!
We had our ceremony and reception at Rivermill and it was absolutely perfect for our 140 guests. The flow was facilitated perfectly, between the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. We got rave reviews from our guests, and I absolutely loved the space.
The Rivermill is a great spot for a wedding. The unique character of the building and grounds makes it a very memorable place. One of the things I loved most about the Rivermill was that it was a place we could add our own personal touches to, to make our wedding uniquely ours. The space itself is fantastic, with old exposed brick, large windows and a very large room. With 216 people in attendance, I never felt the room was too small and there was plenty of room on the dance floor. All of our guests kept mentioning how it was such a cool place for a wedding.
The staff at the Rivermill is great. Kevin Sullivan was very accommodating to our last minute needs and wants before the wedding and was there with us the day before helping us set up everything. He let us keep all of the stuff we had brought in to the Rivermill for the wedding there the night before and the night of the wedding so we didn't have to worry about packing and cleaning it up at the end of the night. A few days after the wedding, we were on our honeymoon and received an email from our parents saying we had forgotten a few things at the Rivermill including the top layer of our wedding cake. They then told us that Kevin had found these things and personally drove them to where our family was staying in NH so we could have them when we returned from our honeymoon!!
The day of the wedding, the place looked incredible and I couldn't have been happier. Everything ran smoothly, and the staff was very attentive to making the day easy and fun for both my husband and I. We had a wonderful time and are so happy that we were able to have our wedding at the Rivermill. We highly recommend this venue!!
We just got married at the Rivermill and are so absolutely pleased with our experience. The venue was actually purchased just a few months before our wedding, which naturally stressed me out! However, our experience with the new management was even better than before! Kevin and Starr are passionate about giving you a great wedding experience (Starr was outside gardening herself and Kevin even coordinated his outfit to our wedding!). They worked with us to create a completely unique and amazing wedding. Rivermill allowed us to come early to set up ourselves (our choice) on Friday and come late on Sunday to pick everything up. They helped us along the way when we weren't sure about the timeline, floor plan, etc. People's first comments have been about how fun and distinctly beautiful the venue was. It's a brick canvas that you can make your own! That's exactly what we were looking for.

Thank you Leandra & Matt, for taking the time to review us! We truly love making wedding dreams come true, and are so glad your wedding was everything you wanted it to be! Wishing you a lifetime of happiness!
My husband and I just got Married on Oct 11, 2013 and I can not say enough about how amazing this place was. I was so happy with how great everything turned out! Aaron was so helpful and friendly! They put such a personal effort in to helping me make the day turn out the way we wanted it to!
The other great thing is that the space is so different than anything else that is out there! I was so nice to see and be in a space that was different for every other country club or hotel function room! Every one who went to the wedding cant stop talking about how great this place was!
I would totally recommend this place to anyone who is looking for cool, rustic place to get married!
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Rivermill and our experience working with them. We had the pleasure of dealing with Aaron throughout the process and he was nothing short of wonderful, especially in accommodating many last minute hiccups. The venue received many compliments from our guests and is the perfect place for a unique New England event. It is not a typical ballroom, which is exactly what we wanted to avoid. They even ended up throwing in lanterns that we had gone back and forth about adding on, a nice touch! Would definitely recommend highly!
My husband and I just had our wedding at Rivermill at Dover Landing on October 19th, and I cannot say enough great things about the venue as a physical location, and the amazing staff there, especially Britt! We had the time of our lives, and Britt was friendly, helpful, and so responsive in the entire planning process.
This team is A+, and we would highly recommend the Rivermill as a venue for couples looking for something unique. The space is so beautiful on its own, but Britt was able to help us make it our own. LOVE LOVE LOVE Rivermill, and the staff there. Thank you all for making our day we'll never forget!!!!
The venue is unique and captivating! Being right downtown Dover is a treat - plus with included valet it is an ease getting in and out! The staff at the Rivermill is kind, understanding and easy to work with! Had a PERFECT experience!
Response from the Vendor on 01/06/2017
Thank you so much for your kind words. We so enjoyed getting to know you and sharing your wedding experience with you!
Aaron and Kirt and Brit did an amazing job organizing the venue, working with us on the size of the dance floor and table setup, and suggesting ways to make our wedding reception flow more smoothly. Also, they coordinated all of the vendors participating in the reception, and took care of all of the things I would imagine a separate "day of" event coordinator would have done--no extra charge! I didn't have to do a thing!! I would have an event at the Rivermill again in a second! Thank you, thank you for all your great work!!!
Liberty Lane Catering (formerly Galley Hatch catering) was SO GOOD! All the guests raved about the delicious food, and the waitstaff was so prompt and discreet - you hardly knew they were there until they cleared your plate or refilled your glass! I especially want to mention that Kevin and Kelly are great to work with. Kevin has been in the business for years, and it shows - he assisted us with table placement, linen colors, and even chair set-up on the Liberty Lane island for the ceremony! And Kelly acted as a day-of coordinator, helping us with the reception timeline at a time when both my mother and I were pretty well frazzled and unable to make a decision! I am so glad we had them both - we would have been lost without them!
These guys had great food that they made on site. All the guests were impressed, which hardly ever happens in the world of wedding parties. They were a very efficient team. The only thing that got a little complicated was the timing of the events in correlation with the food. We did the cake cutting first, and I thought that the caterers would start to slice it up while guests were eating dinner, so they could start right in with dessert, but they took a little too long to get the dessert ready. Also, they were a little too efficient at clearing tables. I had my husband grab a slice of cake and put on the sweetheart table for when we were done schmoozing, but by the time we made it back, it was gone. We didn't get any leftovers either.
If you are planning a destination wedding or are in the Hampton Beach area, this is the caterer to call. Kevin from Liberty One worked within our budget, took care of all details, cooked/grilled our food (FRESH) on site, customized our menu with butlered h'orderves, lobster bisque (to die for!) , crab cakes, grilled filet, veggies, and salad...all served plated with a wait staff that was top notch. The food quality smoked the local Marriott!
Rivermill was an affordable, flexible, beautiful place to get married. The space is very raw, and allows you to design the exact wedding that you want. The space is run by 3 friends, who are very flexible. This isn't your typical fancy hotel ballroom reception site--so if you want that you should look elsewhere. That said, if you're looking for a large, interesting, stunning site, this is it!
The only issue we had was that we didn't budget for room extras, so make sure you figure out how much it will cost for special lighting, decorations, etc.
