Spent $1550 and I never got my dress.
I purchased a Dark Lily costume from Belinda. The craftsmanship is impeccable. This dress is not only a top notch cinema quality costume, but just a stunning gown. It was easy to put on and to wear. I wore the gown all night and wore very well. I highly recommend Belinda for her attention to detail. I will keep this costume for years to come.
Paid for my gown in November 2019, had all the details to her in October 2019. Gave her 3 examples of how I wanted the colors of my dress to be and she still got them wrong. She stated she would be able to get the dress done in June, but that didn't happen, then again she said she would have in done in July, that again didn't happen. She finally sent it the 3rd week of August after delaying it another week, then another few days.
Do not order from Belinda/Romantic Threads, it is far more stress than any gown is worth.
I ordered a dress from Belinda at the end of January and asked when she would have it done. Belinda said she would have it done in April, which was perfect for my June 27th wedding. April rolled around and she gave me the excuse that she had been organizing her workshop and she would have it to me in May. The middle of May rolled around and she once again gave me another excuse. I told Belinda that I HAD to have it by the beginning of June. With only a few days left until June 1st I contacted Belinda about my dress and did not hear back from her. My mother got involved and looked up her number, and left her a voicemail threatening to open a case with paypal about my dress if it did not arrive. Lo and behold, Belinda finally contacted me, gave me an extremely personal and unprofessional excuse, then told me my dress would be shipped using the fastest available option. It arrived June 2nd. The dress was beautiful, but I had to scramble to find undergarments, accessories, and make adjustments, and I didn't have enough time to have my seamstress hem the bottom, which got extremely dirty during my outdoor wedding. Furthermore, there was nowhere near enough time to find someone to make me a back up dress. Overall, the dress was definitely not worth the anxiety caused by the seller's poor communication and lack of professionalism. I am understanding of delays and being busy, but my dress was not ordered during a busy wedding season, and all of the excuses she gave me (cleaning out the workshop, planned hospital visits) were not unexpected. As a professional, she should have planned for these delays and given me a realistic deadline. Belinda never once contacted me to let me know that the deadline would not be met, I had to contact HER and leave her multiple messages before getting a response. As a customer, it makes me feel as though she did not value my business at all and could care less about my wedding anxiety. I understand being busy, but someone who cannot work with deadlines should NOT be working in the wedding industry.
Update: As of my posting of this review on other sites, Belinda has sent me several extremely rude emails chastising me for what I had to say, and has even threatened to take legal action against me after I spoke out to Better Business Bureau. She refuses to take ANY accountability for her mistake and continues to display absolutely horrid business etiquette by blaming the delays on my large figure and having paid her up before sending in my measurements. She could easily refund me through paypal, and she NEVER mentioned back in January that it would be an issue to make my dress in a plus size. I ordered a dress from another Etsy seller months after and was more than happy to pay the extra cost for her to make it in my size. Bottom line, she promised the product would be delivered within a certain time frame, the product did not arrive within that time frame, and she failed to communicate with me at all when her deadlines were missed. I have never seen worse behavior by a business owner in my life. I wouldn't wish Belinda on my worst enemy.
Here is the correspondence I have had with Belinda since January, as well as the facebook post she claims I have "cyberbullied" her with, and her response to this review on another site.

I bought my dress from Romantic Threads on Etsy (I think it is the same as the California Store). Their dresses are so gorgeous, I bought a white medieval style dress that was perfect for my wedding. The prices are very reasonable for a custom made dress! I was a little nervous about buying it online, but it turned out perfect. It did take a while to get here, a little close to the wedding date, but I got it on time. Make sure to order your dress far in advance, these are custom made and take time to make! Very nice quality, and it fit me perfectly. I would love to buy more dresses from them if I had anywhere to wear them!
I ordered my dress on 12/29/11. I exchanged 29 emails with her about the updated status on my dress. Belinda often ignored my emails until I send follow up ones that said "I haven't gotten the update I requested last month on the status of my order" and then it was excuse after excuse. It was promised over and over "next month" until I finally received it on July 26,2012 almost seven months later. I told her my wedding was in September and when she hadn't even started it after the first week of July I requested a refund so I could search for a dress locally. She refused to refund me the money.
I was also promised, when I ordered the dress, that I would get a free lace cape for using a different payment method. I never received the cape. If you'd like your dress to be on time and accompanied with great customer service, look elsewhere. I have never been so disappointed. I got this website from a book called "Bridal Bargains" and I will be emailing the authors recommending they take it out for their next edition. I am not the "Bridezilla" type and this is the only problem I had in planning my entire wedding. When the dress is one of the most important things to a bride, you want to make sure you get it to them in a timely fashion even if they order it early.
I got the Lady Gwen Medieval lace-up gown. It didn't really look like the pictures when I got it either, the bodice had almost no lace, when the pictures show it covered in a layer of it. . What can you do when you run out of lace and you've already made the bride wait 7 months for it? Maybe, go get some more immediately? Whatever.
Still, after putting a corset under it and lacing the ribbon tight, it looked great. It will work out well, and I do look great in it. So the quality isn't bad, the price is reasonable, but the service takes the value of it way down.
If custom made Renaissance or period dresses are what you are looking for, these dresses are perfect. Mine fits well, although I needed to do some minor alterations.
The only thing I would wish to be better, is the fact that I didn't get it until time for our reception, which was a week after the wedding.
She was great though, and was able to make & ship my dress in 3 1/2 weeks!!
