If you are looking for GREAT food, then this is the catering service for you! Working with Alyssa was the sweetest and most dependable person to work with. She made everything go smooth and she definitely made sure our food was going to be delicious. The chef and team were so kind and provided great service to us and our guests. We knew we were going to be taken care of and definitely made sure we were going to be fed well.

Bait and Switch! ROOTS was referred to us by our wedding planner who saw such good reviews. We had a tasting where they rolled out the red carpet. The food was delicious at the tasting so we had high hopes for the plated service we paid for at our reception. Unfortunately the food we received at our reception tasted NOTHING close to our tasting. A bunch of our guests were complaining their food had no seasoning just like me and my husband’s food. We ordered whipped creamy mashed potatoes but we received dry lumpy potatoes. I had to ask for salt and pepper just to be able to attempt to eat it because I was starving. One of guests said her short rib tasted like they cooked it the day before and just heated it back up to serve. My planner said the silverware initially came out dirty and had to send it back. For the cake cutting they never took the cake to the back to cut but instead cut it out in the open and tried to sit the plates on the same small round table with the half cut in cake still sitting there. So much cake was thrown away because they never cut the whole thing up. So all in all for the amount we paid we definitely do not feel we received a service worthy of that. You only get one day to get this right and that was ruined for us. I would not recommended.

Roots catering did an amazing job with providing us our food and alcohol for our wedding. They were very professional and helpful through the whole process. The food was amazing! Their communication was very prompt and they were able to answer all our questions with ease. Alyssa was our main contact, she is very knowledgeable of the business, and made the process easy.

We wanted a relaxed environment for our wedding guests, so we picked tacos sliders and pizza. The guest were raving about the food, and especially loved the pizza station where they were freshly cooking the food! The staff went out of their way helping the groom and I get the food we wanted fast so we could get back to mingling with our guests. The bartender made sure our glasses stayed full and was extremely personable. We loved all of the Roots Team and would highly recommend them!

We hired ROOTS as a full service bar for our wedding and they did NOT disappoint!!! We'd worked with their operations head Olivia for over a year cultivating our signature cocktails and choosing a beverage menu our guests would enjoy. Day of the bartenders were prompt and courteous. I was so impressed that they were able to serve our guests so quickly! We had his and hers cocktails which were executed exactly according to our vision. ROOTS sincerely exceeded all of our expectations and really helped to get our party started in the best way possible!

ROOTS was recommended to us by our venue and I am so glad it was, everything was exceptional. The food was delicious, their brisket is out of this world. The display for our cocktail hour was beautiful and all the appetizers so yummy. Our buffet line moved quickly and the servers were on top of water refills and clean up, which all the guest appreciated. When we originally booked ROOTS we were working with Olivia who eventually transitioned into a new position and Alyssa then became our new contact. Both ladies were wonderful and extremely helpful with questions and recommendations. I even reached out to Alyssa the morning of the wedding to add coffee and she instantly responded and was able to add it on no problem. If you want your wedding day or any event to go perfectly I highly recommend choosing ROOTS.

Roots catered our wedding. I was so impressed by the quality of the food they provided (my bridesmaid turned to me before we walked out to be announced and said "oh my god, did you have some of the crab cakes? They were so good! It was all so good!"). I was also impressed with the professionalism that everyone gave, from coordinating the wedding food to the application of our special drink. I have told my husband many times that I wish we could be invited to a wedding catered by Roots so I could just sit back, relax, and enjoy all the delicious food without some of the stress that comes from it being your wedding! You are making a mistake if you don't book Roots for your next event if you have the chance.

Roots was absolute class for our wedding and Alyssa was amazing with her help throughout the entire process. The food was fantastic all-around, all of our guests spoke highly of how much they enjoyed it. Bar service was also top-notch. Alyssa and her team did a fantastic job, I cannot recommend Roots enough.

Not only did they work with us to develop a delicious menu with options for all kinds of dietary needs, but their mixologist helped us design the tastiest signature cocktails. I cannot say enough good things about working with Roots for our wedding. From the first contact, Olivia was incredible. She was accommodating, helped us talk through all of our menu options, and was extremely flexible and willing to help us make all the changes we needed up until a few weeks before the wedding. All of our guests raved about how good the food was and the attention to detail that Roots puts into setting up their food stations was so appreciated. It flowed so well with all our other decor. Also, the bartenders were incredible. Within an hour, they knew guests drink orders and were so friendly and efficient with serving all of our guests. Roots was an awesome caterer. Food was great with plenty of it. The staff was superb. By the end of the night staff knew guests names and what they drank. Extreme attention to detail. Couldn’t have picked any better group and will definitely use them again.

Our experience with Roots was amazing. We did a low-key micro-wedding with 15 guests, a short and sweet ceremony, and cocktail hour. The Roots team was responsive, accommodating, and excited to work with us. They made us feel excited about our day and confident it would be a success. The food was amazing and the staff were helpful and courteous. All of our guests complimented the food and many went back for seconds and thirds. Overall, Roots was the perfect choice for us.

Hiring Roots was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding! Olivia made the coordination and decision making super simple and was in communication with us and our planner the whole time. There are so many details that we never would have thought of without her. She was also really flexible as we added/removed things and had questions. One thing we liked about Roots was the ability to provide the beer/wine ourselves which saved us a bunch of money. They were really easygoing about it and helped us figure out how much to buy. We did our menu tasting at their restaurant and were blown away by the quality of the food. We were slightly nervous about how that would translate with the travel time and catering services but everything was perfect. All of our guests keep mentioning how good their meals were and how it was some of the best food they've had at a wedding! The bartenders, servers, and staff were very professional and coordinated with our planner to ensure we had our meals first. They kept our glasses filled and saved us a plate of our hors d'oeuvres since we missed the cocktail hour. I am so impressed with Roots and would highly recommend them to anyone!

Would give them a 4.5 only because of the service. Don't get me wrong, the food was absolutely fantastic . However, they started to restrict how much food my guests could get at my wedding. Some people felt discriminated against. Then my mother [the mother of the bride] asked for the leftovers and the staff told her that they didn't have any. And then, my mother ran into her outside of the venue that night and she had bags of leftovers, which is the only time that she handed them over to my mother. The only reason I'm happy enough to give five stars is because like I said, the food was really good- and this is the main reason people come to weddings.

Roots did a great job catering our wedding. Our guests were RAVING about the food all night. The staff was exceptional in their professionalism and a pleasure to work with. Olivia at Roots was communicative and professional. We would definitely hire them to cater another event for us!

Olivia, Taylor, and the Roots team went above and beyond to help my husband and I have a fully vegan wedding menu. They are extremely professional, their chefs are talented, and they helped us so much with all of the little details regarding food and drink on our big day. Olivia was a pleasure to speak to via email and on the phone and always answered promptly. So happy we went with them.

Roots was absolutely incredible to work with. We worked with Olivia and she paid attention to detail from start to finish, which was especially difficult during COVID with date changes. Olivia recommended delicious items and then helped us narrow down our menu to meet our budget. She was professional, organized, and so easy to work with. We had an awesome time at our tasting, too!! I know I'm biased since it was my wedding, but it was hands down the best wedding food I ever had. Everything was restaurant quality and so delicious. I wish I could rewind time and do it all again!! Roots has really creative options if you want to do something outside the box (we had paella, chicken and waffles, and an indian chicken curry dish) but they also have more traditional options too. Our guests loved the interactive food stations. The presentation of everything was also beautiful. Roots also bartended at our event and the bartenders and servers were SO NICE. They were so attentive to me as the bride and to all the guests. And, most importantly, they made sue we (the bride and groom) ate!! Couldn't recommend them enough. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!!!!! <3

We used Roots Catering for our wedding in early April of this year. I have known this team personally for years and I am blown away by not only the quality of their food, but their entire team. I was beyond pleased with the food, the display of the food and the communication throughout this whole process. We had the best experience with ROOTS for our wedding day! Olivia was our event manager, and she was extremely professional, flexible, and responsive throughout the entire process. She helped us navigate many changes when we postponed our wedding due to COVID. She also helped us with linen/flatware/china rentals and everything looked fantastic! Our guests raved about the food and our signature cocktails! The rest of the staff was wonderful - our bartender was very well-liked by our guests! We have recommended ROOTS to all of our friends who are planning weddings and would hire them again!

We are so grateful that we chose ROOTS to be our exclusive caterer for our wedding reception and rehearsal dinner. From the very first interaction, Olivia was professional, responsive, and genuine. We originally were only using ROOTS for our reception but as our wedding was relocated from NC to SC, our needs changed. Olivia was amazing to work with, helped us navigate that change and assisted us with designing a rehearsal dinner menu to fit our needs, the proper safety protocols, and made sure it was totally different than what would be seen/served at the reception. Our tastings were not only delicious, but Roots was so accommodating with their availability. The food was a hit at the wedding as everyone kept raving about it! We used Roots for our wedding in May and could not have been happier. From our initial inquiry to every last executed detail, Kellyn our sales rep, was the best we could have asked for. She created a menu unique to our wedding and was always quick to respond to insure each one of our request were met. Not only did roots have amazing customer service but the food was to die for. Out of all aspects of our wedding the food was the most raved about. Roots created delicious stations including Thai, tempura, and even Moroccan (themed for our honeymoon). The onsite staff was attentive and made everyone feel welcome. Thank you to Roots our special day would not have been the same with you!

Roots Catering was excellent for our wedding. It was the required caterer by our venue but if we had to be forced to use a vendor we were glad it was one with such a good reputation :) We wanted a real Southern wedding and they delivered! We couldn't super customize our wedding because the menus are more or less set, but they did let us get creative with a couple of things which was great. While it ended up working out, we did have one whoops moment at our first tasting. The sweet potato hush puppies were super dry so we did a second tasting and they tasted amazing which they said they were "supposed to taste like that" the first time which was super disappointing to hear. However, it enabled us to try different items and we ended up changing our menu up and suggesting some modifications. In the end, we ended up doing for hors d'oeuvres, pimiento cheese hush puppies, caprese skewers, and pulled pork sliders (our modification). For our stations, we did chicken and waffles, mac and cheese, and shrimp and grits. At our tasting, my husband was floored with the mac and cheese and said the shrimp and grits were in his top three ever. We think our guests felt the same!

Roots recently catered our daughter's wedding. Our guests are still raving about how wonderful the food was. They were amazing to work with from the initial tasting to the end of the reception. They were professional and I would highly recommend them for your next event or wedding!!!

Roots Catering was our dream food vendor. They had so many options and were all-inclusive. My goal was to minimize vendors and Roots was able to help me accomplish that goal - they included food, china rental, table decor, wait staff, bartenders, and so much more. One of my main goals for the day was that none of my guests or family would be required to help clean up - Roots was essential in meeting this goal. They were in and out of the venue with ease and no guest had to lift a finger. Kellyn is an amazing coordinator - she's accommodating, creative, and timely with communication.

I got so many compliments on the food at our wedding, thanks to Roots. The food was absolutely delicious! Even their buffet line had a cute/rustic feel to it, using cast iron pans.

I'll be honest, I was a little disappointed in the food at the initial tasting and I was starting to second guess our catering choice. However, I couldn't be happier that we chose Roots to cater our wedding. The food was absolutely delicious and presented beautifully. Everyone raved about how good everything was and our guests are still talking about the paella station! Even though we chose heavy hor d'oeuvres and stations rather than a traditional sit down meal, there was more than enough food for everyone. The bartenders and servers were wonderful and Kellyn and Olivia were so accommodating from start to finish. I honestly can't recommend Roots enough!

Roots was amazing! The food was delicious and cooked perfectly! The crab cakes and meatballs are highly recommended!

Umm book them now! Roots catered my wedding of 50 guests and people won't stop raving about the food! We had a southern style pig picking with fire roasted veggies, mashed potato bar, and cornbread. However, everyone's favorite part were the appetizers! Fried mac and cheese balls and corn cakes were the toast of the reception. Not to mention the staff brought some apps over to my groom and I while we were taking pictures so we could actually eat some! During dinner they made sure we got enough to eat and didn't want for anything. I worked with Kellyn in the planning process and she was very communicative and sweet. Seriously book them right this second.

We used Roots for our wedding catering through Separk Mansion's all-inclusive package and were thrilled with the results. Roots has an incredible menu with tons of choices that will please everyone. I loved all of the food we had at our wedding, but the crowd-pleaser was definitely the mac and cheese -- we are still hearing about how delicious it was from all of our guests! The shrimp and grits are amazing and so are the chicken and waffles. We also had a few vegan guests and Roots took care of them with delicious and filling vegan meals. Highly recommend Roots catering!!!

We used Roots for catering for our wedding and they certainly delivered! We used them not only for food, but also for our bartenders (we were able to provide our own alcohol). Kellyn did an amazing time at guiding us through the Roots menu and selecting crowd favorites that we also loved. She also helped us figure out just how much alcohol we needed to buy, taking a huge stressor off us. Also, Roots food is REALLY GOOD! I received so many compliments on enjoying the food, something that seems to be uncommon at weddings these days. Roots perfectly fit into my wedding vision and did a great job at decorating our buffet line. I have nothing but positive things to say, so if you like the menu, you won't be disappointed!

I absolutely loved Roots. Their menu options are really varied and seasonal and they include a lot of local products where they can. Kellyn is great to work with and super helpful - she juggled a million different changes and dietary requests as they came in from our guests on the RSVPs. Their service was a little confusing - it took awhile to get everyone served, but in a large venue with three plate options - that's totally understandable! My only suggestion is to not get the hushpuppies if you're a fan of traditional hushpuppies because they're more like a soft corn fritter or dumpling if that makes sense (strange suggestion - I know, but I'm just trying to help my brides out!)

The biggest compliments we received about my wedding was about the food. The menu we picked with Roots was amazing and we were excited to give our Northern relatives a true Southern feast and Roots came through 100%. One word of advice for Roots would be to change your bartender. We got a lot of bad reviews about him and he was serving underage minors with no questions asked. Not only that but he gave some of my female relatives the "creeps" their words not mine. Other than that the service and the food was AMAZING!!!

Roots catered our wedding!! It was amazing! Our guests complimented our food and said it was the best wedding food they have had!! They said the steak was their favorite steak they have ever tasted!! We didn’t even have left overs; people kept going back for more!! Their professionalism and quality is amazing! They even made sure we had appetizers during our photos! I would recommend Roots without a doubt!!!

We had Roots cater our wedding in August and they did an amazing job! We did tastings with several companies in Charlotte before Roots and when we tried Roots we were blown away. They really know good food and flavor. We especially loved that they source their ingredients locally. We had such a positive experience planning everything with Kellyn, she is incredibly friendly and professional. The food was just as great at the wedding as it was at our tasting and the service was also really great.

Amazing dealing with ROOTS staff for our daughter's wedding. The food was plentiful and tasted great! Our on site coordinator was completely available and helpful the night of the event and handled the fact that it was an outdoor venue and 95+ degrees as though it was 70!!

Immediately after our tasting with Roots, we knew this was the caterer we wanted to use for both our rehearsal dinner and wedding. Kellyn, was extremely helpful and easy to work with. We even went through a venue change five months before our wedding and Kellyn was extremely accommodating and proactive in making sure everything regarding our plan for food stayed the same. We had them do a pig roast for the rehearsal dinner. They brought a smoker to the parking lot and had the full pig there, which was a cool experience for many of the guests that were not from North Carolina. The food was delicious although some of it was cold when it was served at its scheduled time, however, overall we were happy with it. For the wedding, overall the food was great, but we did have a couple items that weren’t what we had at our tasting. We were disappointed in the grilled pimento cheese appetizer as it was nothing like what we had at our tasting. However, the bacon wrapped asparagus and pork belly sweet potato biscuits were as great as we remembered. During planning, we debated whether to do stations or a buffet style with servers for the meat and pasta. We settled on stations right next to each other similar to a buffet as Roots assured us they would be able to get our guests through in less than 30 minutes. However, it ended up taking them an hour and a half to get 130 guests served which in our eyes was unacceptable. Multiple guests commented that the meat carver didn’t look like he knew what he was doing and was holding up the service. At the end of the night, we had them bring their food truck to serve chicken and waffle tacos as a late night snack. It wasn’t really a taco and while the chicken was great, the waffles were soggy and cold. Despite some of these missteps, overall the food was good and they were very easy to work with, which is why we are still giving them a 4/5.

Roots did an amazing job with catering my wedding! I was thoroughly impressed with how the food tasted and how much those at the reception enjoyed the food. The communication with this company was great. Someone always got back to me in a timely manner when I had a question. The staff was quite friendly at the event and I would use this company again.

Roots was amazing to work with! From start to finish, they made the process super easy and seamless! Craig and the staff were all super nice and great to work with. We used them for our rehearsal dinner and reception. Guests commented on how great the food was and even on how much they liked the presentation at the buffett! You will not be disappointed with this vendor! Will use again for future events!

I just want to send a word of caution to anyone who wants to use Roots to cater a function. We had a commitment from Roots to cater or wedding. It was a very specific event with a 6 course custom menu that Craig the owner had crafted. 32 days before the wedding I get this email from Craig. "Rick, I am very sorry to tell you this, but we will not be able to cater your wedding. As I told you in our tasting, I would be out of the country and that I would have my executive chef cook your food, however we were waiting on a previously booked event to confirm and they confirmed for your date and he will be required at that event due to its complexity." So basically Craig new he had a larger client on the back burner, but continued to negotiate with us down to the food tasting and crafting of the menu. He was stringing us along and never mentioned the "other client". He then bailed on us by email without ever bothering to speak to us in person at any time thereafter. Completely unprofessional and uncaring about anything but the money in our case. We had to scramble to find a new caterer for a custom menu 1 month before the wedding. We did, and it was fantastic and less money than he was charging. Craig is young and will eventually learn what it takes to build a strong business... but as of now, buyer beware.

Roots catered my Southern wedding and did an amazing job. The one comment that everyone told me was how great the food was and how professional and attentive the staff was. Roots even setup a "wall of greens" interactive salad bar and such an elaborate dessert bar that I was blown away. They are great at what they do and come up with such unique ways to present their food. I would highly recommend them to anyone lookin to make their wedding extra special
