We couldn’t be happier with our experience at Rule of Thirds as our wedding venue. From the start, their team was professional, responsive, and incredibly kind. They answered every question, accommodated all of our requests, and made the planning process so smooth and stress-free.
On the wedding day, everything ran seamlessly thanks to their organized and attentive staff. They were flexible with last-minute adjustments and ensured every detail was perfect. The venue itself is stunning—our guests couldn’t stop raving about how beautiful the space was!
If you’re looking for a venue with excellent communication, a warm and professional team, and a gorgeous setting, Rule of Thirds is an amazing choice. We highly recommend them to any couple planning their big day!
Our guests are still raving about the food from our wedding at Rule of Thirds! We loved working with the venue coordinators, from start to finish, and they made us feel extra special during our out-of-this-world wedding tasting. They even made us a new signature cocktail by mixing their delicious, non-alcoholic Melonade with tequila. Everyone loved them!
We also didn't have to spend too much on decor because the venue was already so beautiful. A plus for any budget-conscious couples!
One aspect we greatly appreciated was the use of one of their private rooms. The coordinators warned us that we may not have access to them if they're rented out, but luckily, no one booked them the day/night of our wedding. It was the perfect place to stash our things, sign our ketubah and marriage license, and even to let the kids relax and eat dinner. We love Rule of Thirds!
Where to even begin! First off, my wife and I had a fairly large wedding for NYC, roughly 200 people, so when we started to look at venues, we were so nervous about what we would find. Rule of Thids was actually the first venue we saw, and we were blown away by the space. If you’re renting out the full venue, you get access to the entire restaurant, plus the event space, as well as the outdoor area. It makes the flow of the wedding so nice, so everyone wasn’t crammed into one space as they were trying to flip it for the ceremony, dinner, and dancing. We were also able to rent out the photo studio attached to the sake shop to get ready in, so we were on-site all day, which was AMAZING. We could easily discuss things with our day-of coordinator, florist, etc., and the space was so large and had impeccable light (our makeup artist and hair stylist were super happy with it!).
We chose to use the venue coordinator, Julie, as our day of coordinator, and we cannot say enough good things about her. She was incredibly responsive, super organized, and comes from the wedding industry, so she brought up things that we didn’t even think to consider for the day of that were so helpful. Beyond that, she was so pleasant to work with and just had an amazing, chill vibe that everyone wants from their coordinator on the wedding day. It was also amazing that she works at the venue, so she knew all the ins and outs of the space and could easily coordinate with our other vendors. She helped ensure the bridal party was in the right places at the right time, moved people from room to room when needed, and helped us stay on track with the flow of the wedding, which was perfect and so seamless. She and the ROT team set up the entire space exactly as we envisioned, and everything looked beautiful!
The venue is honestly perfect for a wedding. We were able to use private dining spaces in the venue for a photobooth and coat closet, plenty of bathrooms (not something you think about until you go to a wedding with too few!), an amazing outdoor space for guests to cool down/get away from the noise, a huge dance floor area, spacious dining room, and so many bars for our guests to go to. The staff were all amazing, endlessly refilling drinks and food, and everyone was incredibly nice.
Even after all of the amazing things above, the best part about Rule of Thirds is the food. From the cocktail hour to the dessert, this food is amazing and well beyond typical wedding standards. We had so many guests tell us how good everything was, and we were told this was the first wedding at the venue where every single canape and raw bar item was eaten, so our guests were very happy! (if you can, splurge on the raw bar because it was so good!!) After the ceremony, they set up a spot for us to sample all the canapes and raw bar items, which we were super thankful for since we would never have eaten anything otherwise. We also had a very specific request for a mazeman noodle dish we had eaten when we toured the space a year prior, and the chef and team made it happen for us, which was AMAZING and so incredibly delicious.
If you’re looking for a wedding venue and considering Rule of Thirds, DO IT! We wish we could relive the day all over again because it was so amazing, and we will forever be hoping someone else we know gets married here so we can experience something similar again.
We had a fantastic experience getting married at Rule of Thirds. We were drawn to it for the beautiful space and the delicious food — both of those things delivered — but we were even more impressed with the service.
From the beginning, they were super amenable, answering every question we had quickly, and being very available for us to drop by to be in the space multiple times. We used on of their in-house day-of coordinators, Paige, who was really friendly and on top of everything. The day ran smoothly — we had nothing to think or worry about, and were just able to have a good time.
Many of our guests commented on how it was the best food they ever had at a wedding, and about how beautiful and unique the room was. Our vendors also mentioned that they were easy to work with. All in all, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
We had a fantastic time working with Rule of Thirds for our small wedding celebration dinner, which came together in less than two months! ROT was communicative, efficient, and patient (and I definitely had a million questions). The food was delicious, the room was set up so nicely for us, and the staff on site were really attentive and helpful! Great experience all around.
I had the reception of my dreams here! ROT was so accommodating with all the various dietary restrictions (we had alllll kinds!), spoiled us with treats (freebies, day of drinks/snacks for the bridal suite, etc!!), and was so easy to work with in the whole process. Our reception was unconventional and they were so great about all the details! We had a lion dance (ROT's first!!), and it was magical. The space is so incredible that $600 of decor looked like $6000 (we only did DIY florals/candles/favors). Our guests were stunned by how beautiful the space was. We had a few coordinators switch in communication with us, and each and every one of them was kind and professional. The staff were stars - they all had warm smiles and demeanors that our guests even noticed how lovely the vibe was. I know working in the service industry isn't easy, and it meant so much that they would go above and beyond to make it an unforgettable night. The best wedding food, hands down. I'm so happy that ROT is a special place for my partner and I's love story going forward.
Sydney, Jamie, and Julie at Rule of Thirds truly made our wedding an unforgettable experience. Their professionalism and attention to detail were exceptional. From the moment we started planning, Sydney guided us seamlessly through the process, ensuring every detail was perfect. On the big day, Jamie and Julie orchestrated the event flawlessly, and their expertise was evident in the smooth execution.
And let's talk about the food! Our guests couldn't stop raving about the menu, and the tasting in itself was one of our favorite parts of the wedding planning process. They were super edible and helped us pick put a menu as well as helping us add to drinks to the bar that aren’t on the menu.
Choosing Rule of Thirds for our wedding was the best decision we made. If you're looking for a wedding venue with an amazing team, look no further than Rule of Thirds.
We’re so glad we went with Rule of Thirds for our venue. In our planning stages, we were so happy to find Rule of Thirds after many unsuccessful searches. Venues in the Catskills, while gorgeous, were difficult for our guests to get to and required us to figure out guest accommodations while NYC venues were either too stuffy, too expensive or too small. Rule of Thirds checked all our boxes — cool vibe, great food, large enough for eating and dancing and an all service vendor. And as an added perk, there was so much greenery already in the venue which made decor a lot easier for us. In the end, we really couldn’t imagine a better vendor for our wedding. Everyone had so much fun, complimented the food and drinks and marveled at the space itself. We’re so thankful to Sydney, who coordinated things on behalf of the venue, as well as the team who provided world class service on our big day!
We started our wedding venue search in May 2020 (mid-pandemic) for an October 2021 wedding, and at the time had been scouring the internet for venues up and down the East Coast, ranging from Cape Cod, MA to Princeton NJ. We finally settled on NYC where we live, but in order to get a space for a 175-person wedding, we knew we needed to look in Brooklyn.
After looking through 30+ Brooklyn venues online with indoor and outdoor setup options, I came across Rule of Thirds and was immediately taken by the photos of the space and the look of the design and décor of the restaurant. Rule of Thirds had everything we were looking for after seeing so many venues on the East Coast. It was large, had outdoor space, had full catering and setup, was a beautiful and unique space, and it was right in our backyard.
The Rule of Thirds restaurant was getting ready to open (safely) mid-pandemic, and the events coordinator worked with us to do an in-person (socially distanced) walk-through while navigating the early unknown days of COVID as a new restaurant. It was so impressive to see how they creatively pivoted throughout 2020 and into 2021. We became regulars, after having sampled their food and cocktail list and frequented the restaurant many times.
We did a full buyout of the space. Each and every room of the venue brought its own unique and elegant décor and vibe. Starting with the main indoor restaurant and bar area with views into the kitchen - where we held our cocktail hour and after-party. To the large event hall which we separated in two spaces – one space for the dinner reception and a second space for dancing underneath the skylight with views of NYC skyline lit up at night. We held our ceremony in this same space and the staff seamlessly turned over the set up from the ceremony to the reception.
I cried when I first saw our reception area – the room absolutely took my breath away and I couldn’t believe how beautifully it was set up, and how our vision came to life. The Rule of Thirds staffed worked tirelessly with our wedding coordinator, florist, and band to make sure the room was perfect – coupled with the incredible food, beverage, and service which made the whole evening so special. Every request we had from the band’s A/V needs to different arrangements for room setup was attended to. I couldn’t sing more praises for the Rule of Thirds team highly recommend!
We arranged a visit with Bec to see the venue but there was no one there when we arrived except some folks doing a video shoot in the space. We emailed a few times letting her know we were inside the adjoining shop, and the guy in the shop tried asking the film crew and getting in touch with her directly. We waited for 45 minutes before giving up, the shop was nice enough to let us stay after hours while they closed up. This was a couple weeks ago and we haven't had any communication from Rule of Thirds since. Initial correspondence was responsive and the venue seems lovely but even if this was a freak incident the lack of communication took them off our list.
