Sage and Swift

We were so excited to work with Sage & Swift, but ended up having a mixed experience. We spent a lot of our wedding budget on this company because they assured us they would be the "day-of coordinators" (doing all the set up, rentals, coordinating with other vendors, rain contingency plan, and clean up). They were great to work with during pre-wedding planning. They did a great job creating our rentals list and menu, and did a tasting lunch with us, and had great tasting food. Their set up on the day of was beautiful and as planned. However on the day of the event, the staff person who assured us she would be there to run the event left someone else we had never talked with in charge. When it started raining during our ceremony, there was no one there to direct people towards the backup rain-plan. Because of this, we ended up having our ceremony under our large tent (with everyone standing around the dinner tables) instead of seated indoors as we had originally discussed. Guests also told us that they ran out of food by the end of the buffet, despite having fewer attendees than expected. Guests also shared with us that they ran out of beer halfway through the evening (though there was plenty of wine). Overall the food was amazing and we enjoyed working with their staff ahead of the event... but from a management point of view, on the day of the ceremony, we are not sure they were worth the price. We realize that weddings never go as planned, especially outdoor weddings, but we went with Sage & Swift because they assured us they could take care of any day-of changes professionally. They also assured us that they worked with Duke Gardens as a venue often, so this last minute change of plans shouldn't have been such a challenge. We give this company a three star rating because despite the day-of challenges, the food was great, the staff was kind and easy to work with, and we believe in their company's philosophy to support local farmers.

Sage & Swift did a simply amazing job catering our wedding! We chose to do a "cocktail-style" reception with heavy hors d'oeuvres and it was so fun to choose the little finger foods they provided. I was a little worried that there wouldn't be enough food, but I was wrong! All of our guests had plenty to eat, and it was all flavorful and delicious. They also prepared our wedding cakes for us, which was so convenient (I really tried to streamline the process by working with as few vendors as possible). We had 5 or so different flavors of cake and they all seemed to be a big hit, especially the ones with fruit filling, like berry or lemon. I found them to be very accommodating and easy to work with, although sometimes response times were just a tad slow. Overall a really wonderful experience and I would definitely recommend using their services!

Sage & Swift worked wtih us to create a local and fresh menu for our wedding, with gluten and vegetarian friendly options. The food was delicious, seasonal, fresh, and true to the local "flavors" we wanted to share with our family and friends. We received many compliments from our guests. The service staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive to our guests. While occasional delays were noted in follow-up replies to questions, the coordinating staff was flexible, accomodating, and attentive to our desires. We were able to make arrangements for supplying some aspects of our beverage menu, etc. that allowed us to significantly reduce the cost of the event.

Best food our guests said they'd had. We had a carving station, a risotto station and a delicious jambalaya. Great details and fresh, beautiful presentation.
