I first heard about Sandals Bridal when I attended a wedding expo in Rehoboth Beach, DE. It was about 11 months before my wedding and I scheduled my appointment thinking that it would be a good idea to start looking at dresses. The bridal shop is super cute and located just off of Ocean Gateway. I walked into the store with my family and Maria and her team were so kind, accommodating, and helped me pick out multiple dresses to try on. They were all beautiful and I practically had 5 dresses that were all my favorite. I showed her a picture of a dress that I liked on Pinterest and right away Maria knew which dress to try on. That dress turned out to be THE ONE and when I put it on, we all started crying. When I said “Yes” to the Dress, Maria and her staff stayed in touch with me while my dress was en route, and helped me coordinate alterations with a seamstress that they recommended. If you’re planning a wedding in the Delmarva area, I highly recommend visiting Sandals Bridal in Ocean City, MD.
The dress I purchased from this store was beautiful. My experience, however, was not as pleasant as it could have been.
Although the dresses at this location were all gorgeous, there was not a very large amount to choose from. My experience trying on different gowns was also not so great. I have extremely sensitive skin, so many of the dresses that I tried on irritated my skin. When I told the owner of the store that some of the dresses were irritating me, she told me it was probably just my own sweat.
After trying on a number of dresses, I found one that I liked more than the others, that did not irritate my skin at all. After saying I wanted to think on the dress overnight, I was strongly advised to purchase the dress right then because I “would probably not be able to order it tomorrow.”
When my dress arrived at the shop, I was notified that they would be unable to do alterations at their shop, but I could travel to a different city to have alterations done. Instead, I chose to have my dress shipped to me, with the cost paid by me. I paid the store to overnight the gown to me, but received it four days later.
Once I received my dress and tried it on, I did not like the way it looked on me. After a total meltdown, my mother decided to email the owner of the store and tell her that I hated the way it looked on me. The owner then emailed me saying that she was “absolutely shocked” that I did not like the dress. She continued to tell me that she had never had someone want to exchange a dress before, but if I absolutely felt the need to, I could come in and exchange it. She also stated in her email that if I could not find an alternative dress at her shop, she “hate[s] to say it, but the gown is yours [mine].”
Luckily, my seamstress was able to fit the dress well and we added a belt to make it a little bit more me. It still wasn’t my dream dress, but it was beautiful.
