We chose the gourmet grazing option (buffet) for dinner, and asked Nick and his team to plate the salads last minute, which they were incredibly accommodating with. We loved our experience!

and a fun time at our tasting. However, by the time of our wedding, we had a hard time tracking down the catering team. We sent multiple emails and called for about three weeks (six weeks before the wedding) and it wasn’t until our third email that we heard back from the team. We were supposed to be provided glassware, napkins, linens, flatware, and dishes from the team but they told us less than four weeks from the wedding that it would be “more efficient” if we handled that ourselves. Additionally, there were some menu changes from the initial tasting we agreed upon to the food we were served at the wedding. The salad specifically was not what we decided and it was never discussed with us before or after the fact. However, the food was good and the servers were top notch. We understand times are difficult for everyone with staff shortages, we just wish the communication was a whole lot better.

We started working with Chef Nick in 2019 (We were a Covid Couple who had to reschedule our September 2020 wedding to November 2021) and from the start we were impressed by how helpful, personable and honest he was with helping us figure out our food. When we had our tasting with our wedding planner, Nick was right there talking with us about what he thought would best for our event and what would give us the most bang for our buck. He really aims to give quality food within the budget for wedding couples which we really appreciated. We even had to end up switching our buffest/sit down dinner to a cocktail style reception due to our venue size and guest count at the recommendation of our planner, and Nick also agreed, but broke it down to us that it was the best way to serve our guests. He was able to change the menu we had picked to function with a cocktail reception and everything turned out just PERFECT! We actually really ended up liking this style dinner more than a sit down. Day of, the staff worked very well with getting passed food past to our guests and keeping the food stations stocked all night Food presentation was good, SOO delicious and great quality. We received lots of compliments on the meatballs and of course his famous bowtie pasta. The food really helped make the day we waited for so long just perfect! I'd recommend Sausalido catering for any size event you are looking to hold.

Even though the owner refunded us $1000 at our wedding in an effort to, as he put it, “make it right,” Sausalido’s catering service was so objectively awful that the $1000 refund hardly made anything right. First, they were late showing up and they were late with the food. We had to delay our wedding nearly an hour because even when they did show up, they did not have the food for dinner. (We were assured that they would show up two hours before the wedding, but this definitely did not happen.) Second, they did not have any chafing dishes for the food (when they eventually brought food). The servers simply threw trays on tables, had no way of keeping those trays warm, and made no effort to present the food in an attractive way that you would expect at a wedding. Third, the food was way below the quality that we were served at our tasting. Fourth, and perhaps most importantly, we paid for 125 people to eat. We only had 115 people attending. SAUSALIDO RAN OUT OF FOOD FOR OUR GUESTS! We had three tables who had to wait hours to eat because there was no food left. After several phone calls with the owner, he finally sent over more food from an event down the street. However, the initial batch of emergency food that he sent amounted to grapes, cheese, and a half-eaten tray of fish. It was pathetic. It took more phone calls to the owner before he personally showed up with more food. He kept telling us that he was “sending elevated stuff.” Whatever it was, it was leftover, and it was not what we ordered to be served at our wedding. By that point, we had directed our wedding coordinator to order pizza. The service that we received from Sausalido was abysmal, unprofessional, and downright disrespectful. We had friends, family, and co-workers at our wedding who weren’t able to eat for hours because Sausalido failed to deliver on our order. At the wedding, the owner/chef kept telling us “I’m sorry. I don’t know how this happened.” If the owner/chef of the business isn’t able to understand how/why he messed up so terribly, then you probably shouldn’t trust him to cater for you.

r. Nick was easy to work with and made sure he had created a menu that matched everyone’s preferences and also took into account any potential allergies and food sensitivities. The staff also did a wonderful job of handling things at the event, making sure everyone was served and enjoyed themselves. They deserve a very big thank you! We would recommend them to anyone catering an event, especially their wedding.

But most importantly Nick is incredibly nice, my venue coordinator said that she loved the way Nick communicated and treated his team. Which I believe says great things about the company.

rehearsal dinner. We came to them after we were forced to plan our second wedding with under 60 days to go. Nick did not bat an eyelash at jumping in and taking us on. We will definitely use Sausalido again for our catering needs.

His enthusiasm for cooking is evident and translates into food that we and our guests loved. We were so excited to have leftovers and ate them happily in the days after the wedding. Working with Nick and his team was also fantastic. They definitely made the days leading up the wedding less stressful with their flexibility, understanding, and good humor. We added on additional server time a couple days before when we realized we’d need more assistance with preparing and serving our cocktail hour food. Nick threw in some extra food too for the cocktail hour which was unexpected but a delightful surprise! His team assisted with food prep, display, service, and clean up. They were efficient, professional and respectful of the space (our wedding was at my parents’ home). We absolutely loved working with Sausalido and have no reservations in recommending them!

Food also looked beautiful and was creatively set up, which was one of the other things that attracted us to Sausalido in the first place. We will definitely continue to eat here in the future!

rom our guests. Their prices were incredibly reasonable for the amount of food that was served. Overall we had bread with dip, salad, 2 appetizers, pasta, chicken, salmon and dessert. The wait staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Even though they had multiple call offs, they made sure to have enough staff for our party. The owner’s wife even came in to help! We also had a few guests with strict gluten free/dairy free diets and they were able to accommodate them as well. They also had no corkage fee on wine which was appreciated! They boxed up all the leftover food and wine for us at the end of the night and made sure all the guests were properly taken care of throughout the night. Overall, I would highly recommend Sausalido for a rehearsal dinner/large dinner party due to their high food quality, friendly wait staff and reasonable prices.

You need to have the Bowtie Pasta (it's amazing). They were easy to work with and did not need a ton of time to confirm number of guests which was great when we had people who weren't RSVP'ing. They communicated well with our venue, and they made sure I ate too! I'm thrilled that we had them. I wish I would have been able to eat more! I loved my wedding catered by Sausalido.
