Savory Gourmet Catering & Events and Danielle started out great. We had a wonderful tasting with her and were so eager to work with her for our wedding. Then we got down to the last couple of weeks and we had a walk through at our venue. She ...had a very "not my responsibility" approach to setting up our venue, she also had the same attitude when it came to putting the table numbers and favors on the table. She even insisted a few times that we should pay the venue money to setup so that she didn’t have too. The morning of our wedding my husband arrived to the venue to find her staff standing around waiting; looking for direction as they waited for her to arrive in which she was late. So the site manager at the venue was the one who coordinated the setup of our reception; when it was stated to us previously that the direction was supposed to be provide by our caterer. During our reception, the food that was served to my husband and I was terrible, dried out, completely overcooked and had a slight crust. My husband and I; nor our guests could cut our entrees because there were no knives or even spoons. When we asked one of her staff members about the missing utensils she looked as if she had no idea what we were talking about. We were later told that there was not enough food and our guests didn’t receive certain items. Our contract was for 150 people and we had nowhere near that many of people attend. When we got ready to cut the cake we were asked who was planning to cut the cake because Danielle stated that she didn’t provide that; though it was written in our contract that the cake cutting service was provided. Once my husband and I fed each other the initial slice of cake, Danielle took that same piece and ate it; right in front of our guests. We were also told that there were going to refreshments other than water that were going to be provided which were not. Her staff began to give our guests lemonade and refreshments that my husband and I bought for the alcohol since Danielle stated that she didn’t provide mixers. When we had our walkthrough I insisted that my husband and I receive the appetizers that were being provided during cocktail hour, because I specifically wanted the crab dip we were having. Danielle stated that would not be a problem; she would have one of her staff members personally provide that to us. That didn’t happen, we didn’t get to taste any of our cocktail hour food, neither did our wedding party and it also ran out. We also had an issue at the end of our reception where Danielle stated that she would have to charge us extra since we had our venue until 11:00 pm when it was clearly stated in our contract and mentioned several times during our walkthrough. My husband suggested to her that she and her staff go ahead and break down tables since everyone was dancing. We were getting ready to leave our venue when it was mentioned by the Newton White Mansion staff that there was cake still in refrigerator left by Danielle and her staff unwrapped, nor boxed that we had no idea it was even there. I do believe that Danielle is a great chef and probably does a great job when she doesn’t have to take responsibility for the manual labor. Her attitude and responsiveness was something that lacked greatly. My husband I both agreed that we spent entirely too much money and we should send her an invoice to receive some of our money back due to her service not meeting our expectations.
