Honestly, Schaul’s did an amazing job for our wedding. We didn’t want it to feel conventional so we had a BBQ buffet but still wanted it to feel chic and classic and they absolutely nailed it. People LOVED the food and the service was flawless. It was hard for me to imagine how the wedding would end up, but they exceeded everything.
We used Schauls for my daughter’s wedding. The caterer should make things easy for the bride and groom so they have one less thing to stress about the wedding. Working with Schauls was very frustrating and stressful. We found out three weeks before the wedding that the table setting they showed us at the tasting was not the one they included in the price. Their five piece China table setting did not include wine glasses. It was over $10,000 for 100 people and they wanted to charge us $100 extra for wine glasses plus $20 extra for a tablecloth for the cake table plus $1.50 per slice to cut the cake. All those examples were things that the caterer we used for my other daughter’s wedding just did for us so we wouldn’t have to worry about it and that caterer was almost half the price. Then the day of the wedding they showed up almost an 1.5 hours late with no reason why and no apology. When they were an hour late on the wedding day, we called the office to ensure they were coming and the office was closed; therefore, we had no way to contact them on the day of the event.
Schaul's was great throughout the whole process! Maureen was always quick with responding to emails and questions we had for the wedding. The food was delicious and service was quick! One of my fears for the wedding was a plated dinner taking forever as I had seen happen at other weddings! They had enough staff to keep things moving quickly and the meal was amazing!
We were interested in Schaul's for catering for our wedding in Chicago. We were looking at doing something different and fun and wanted to book a catering company that would be able to accommodate and wouldn't cost an arm and a leg, and would be willing to commute out to Chicago to provide services. Let me say that from the very beginning, Schaul's and specifically Mo who was our coordinator impressed us so much! We went to a tasting, where the chef came out to talk to us about the food and the preparation (so impressive, and different from our other tasting that went to). When we had a few suggestions/modifications to the food (we wanted the fried chicken a little crispier, different appetizers etc.), we booked another tasting and the chef took our notes and modified the food to our liking. Not to mention during the entire process, Mo was incredibly responsive, answering all of our questions and concerns. We signed the contract and the entire year leading up to our wedding, Mo assisted the entire way, making sure that we had everything we needed. We decided to BYOB since our venue allowed it (seriously such a great decision), and Schaul's provided the mixer package along with bartenders. Mo helped coordinate all of it and made the process so much easier.
Schaul's not only assisted with catering services, but also helped set up some decorations as well day of, which was such a big help as we didn't have a day of coordinator. And oh my goodness, the food! THE FOOD! It was seriously the best wedding food we've ever had and we received so many compliments from our guests. We even had the father of the groom state multiple times during the night how "this was the most food I've ever eaten at a wedding". We had people steal onion dip from the cocktail hour and bring it with them to the dinner part because they loved it so much. We got so many rave reviews on not only the food but also the wait staff. The wait staff were so on top of it, several waiters stopped me during the night to ask me specifically if I needed a drink. They moved tables for the dance floor, and were super attentive. I also heard from guests that the bartenders were also incredible! We seriously could not have asked for more! Schaul's and Mo absolutely crushed it! They were able to take our different menu (fried chicken, lobster rolls etc.) and make it completely work with our wedding! Seriously, do yourself a favor and book them!
My husband and I said from the beginning of wedding planning that Schaul’s was our favorite vendor we chose. Susie made the entire process so easy and we felt so comfortable working with her. We never felt rushed or pressured to make decisions and they worked with our budget. We were able to do a food tasting and make changes however we wanted. Our guests raved about the food. My complaint is that we had a family style dinner and a lot of the dishes didn’t get replenished fast enough. Guests with allergies didn’t get their food for about 15 minutes after everyone else. The dessert table was also not replenished fast enough. Some people complained that they didn’t get cake which was confusing because we had SO MUCH leftover cake that was not even cut because they put out such small slices and didn’t replenish fast enough. We also didn’t have a plate available to us when doing our cake cutting which made it a little awkward. I was also under the impression Susie would be present during the reception to make sure things were going okay but my husband and I never even knew if she was there, so that made me a little upset. All of these things were pushed under the rug for us though because of how great the planning process was and how great the food was, which is all that matters to us! We definitely recommend using Susie and Schaul’s Catering for your wedding!
I can't begin to say how pleased we were with Schaul's. We worked closely with Susie, who went absolutely above and beyond every step of the way. From making us feel at home at our tasting to popping champagne flutes seemingly out of nowhere the night of our wedding. She was outstanding! The food was phenomenal - everyone raved about it - and the coordination with the rental company was flawless. She took all our worries away, provided us a night to remember, and we could not have asked for a better vendor to work with! From their patience to outstanding food, Schaul's delivered in every way. We will definitely think of them for our future events and be recommending them to everyone we know!
