Scratch Event Catering

We just had our wedding last week and Scratch Catering did an incredible job. We heard all night from our guests how wonderful time food was, and they were so professional, easy to communicate with, and all around did a great job making sure everything went smoothly. My husband and I loved the customization of the menu--the food really reflected our goal of "fancy comfort food" and it was so creative and delicious. The custom ice cream flavors were a huge hit as well. We couldn't have been happier.

I didn't really feel like a bride until I met with Scratch to talk about our catering needs. No ask was too big, no question went unanswered, and absolutely every detail was covered on the wedding day. The team at Scratch was meticulous and diligent in working with the venue to make sure the every part of our wedding day went off without a hitch. Our guests raved about the food, some getting second, and third helpings (the groom included). Their food is ridiculously good and no one can beat their customer service!

Scratch catering provided a fabulous experience for my daughter's recent wedding. The food was delicious! All guests were served a plated meal within minutes of each other, assuring that everyone enjoyed food at the right temperature at the same time. So many of our guests have commented positively regarding how much they enjoyed the food, including comments such as "the best food I've ever had at a wedding" and "no, you can't take away my son's child's plate until I finish it myself." The accommodation of special dietary needs was beyond what I expected. The owner, chef, and their staff demonstrate that they care about your individual experience and pay attention to every detail. I am so glad that we had the opportunity to work with Scratch Event Catering!

My now husband (!) and I live in New York, and we really wanted to find a caterer for our Ohio wedding that would cater to our New York friends' sophisticated tastes without alienating the kids and family from more rural places in attendance. Scratch knew exactly how to do that, and the execution was flawless! We came to them with lots of dietary restrictions, including a desire to have a vegan/gluten-free/nut-free dish to offer... the dish was flavorful and didn't make our guests with allergies feel like they were neglected or left out. The service was perfect, and they were totally accommodating about fitting an amazing experience into our budget. I can't recommend them enough!

This food is AMAZING!! If you DON'T want regular-boring-dry-chicken-breast-type food at your wedding, book Scratch Catering before its too late! When my husband and I did our tasting with them, it was the best experience AND best food we had out of all our tastings. From the moment we walked in, we were offered a glass of wine or beer with our full-meal tasting. We craved the food we tasted for months afterwards! Both Matt, the chef, and Cheryl were extremely professional and always got back to us with questions within the same day. When I knew no idea how to prepare for our open bar, Cheryl was able to take care of the small things so I didn't need to think about it, and walked me through what to do from our end. They also worked with our budget to make sure we had a menu that was both tasty and affordable for us. People keep telling us how happy they were that they didn't eat rubber chicken and bland vegetables at our wedding. Make sure you taste the beef profiteroles!! I still crave this food often. I wish there was something like saving the top of your wedding cake for your 1 year anniversary with Scratch, because I can't wait to eat their food again some day! Scratch Catering was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding day, and you won't be disappointed. My advice to you as the bride/groom--take time to sit down, savor the food and moment, because it goes by so fast, and you'll wish you would have taken longer to eat and enjoy the food! I used Scratch for my wedding and was able to provide my guests with unique food that wasn't typical, dry wedding food. I got SO MANY compliments on the food from my friends and guests. We could not have been more pleased with our experience with Scratch Event Catering. Through out the process they were extremely helpful, and made us feel so comfortable on the day of our wedding. The staff made the most delicious and creative food I've ever had at a wedding. They were patient and fun to work with. They even did liquid nitrogen ice cream! I will always look to them for any event and special occasion. People that went to the wedding are still talking about the food.. To be honest, they were the best part of my wedding planning.

We used Scratch for our wedding at Canopy Creek Farm. Their staff was awesome and very helpful. The food was delicious and we had tons of compliments. They were a little hard to get ahold of at times, but everything worked out perfectly.

Scratch is absolutely amazing! I heard about them from another bride and after her raving review I knew we needed to look into them! If you want a custom true to yourself and your partner’s taste at your wedding or whatever event book them now! They list what menus they have done in the past on their website, but NOTHING stops Chef Matt Hayden from creating a custom menu for you! He asked us our favorite meals, where we had traveled, and got to know us. I saw duck a l’orange on the menu and he told me the history of the dish. I was sold. He literally had never tried or really knew about a dish from New Zealand that we loved, Pavlova. We described it and he Googled it while on the phone with us and he was, without hesitation, up for the challenge! He did a trial of it for our tasting and it was divine! It was even better when he perfected it for the actually wedding. Now, the food at the wedding, well needless to say people were blown away. Our limo driver, Dave said, “I eat a lot of wedding meals, like a ton, and this is hands down the best one I have ever had!” We got similar responses from guests, our photographer, the band, etc. We didn’t have one negative comment, accept someone complaining they wish they had more room in their stomach for more food! Here is a story and I know this was a special circumstance, but it goes to show that Chef Matt really cares and is, not only an amazing chef, but person as well. We were scheduled to do our tasting on January 16, but on December 26 the universe had different plans for me and I was in an accident where I, literally, broke my back. Lucky, to walk away (eventually, after emergency surgery, a week in ICU, and a week in the hospital) I was limited in my ability to go out and such. We cancelled our tasting for the 16th. My birthday is January 22nd, I was pretty bummed about being stuck at home for my birthday and cancelling the tasting. My fiancée called Chef Matt told him the full situation and asked Chef Matt if there was any way he would come to our home and cook our tasting menu for my birthday. Chef Matt, without hesitation, said, “Yes, I never do these sort of things, but yes I will be there!” I while I was sold even before the tasting, I was 110% sold after the tasting! Book him and his team NOW! You are just wasting time looking elsewhere!
