I would like to start off by stating that our wedding day was beautiful and a very special day to look back on. The only unexpected issues we had were those that dealt with our officiant. After interviewing several officiants, we booked Reveren...d Glynn approximately 11 months in advance. We had reached out to Reverend Glynn approximately 2 months prior to our wedding with our “homework” (a special addition Reverend Glynn planned to add into the ceremony that explained why we love each other) and personalized ceremony. With no reply via email and calling him twice, he finally touched base with us two weeks prior to our wedding. Nonetheless, all details were discussed over the phone and he put us at ease.
The evening before our wedding at approximately 8PM, we got a call Reverend Glynn that an old friend had unexpectedly passed away and he was out of the state. He told us that his flight was supposed to get in about 1 hour prior to our ceremony. Reverend Glynn led us to believe that there was still a chance he would make it to our ceremony and never officially told us he was not coming. He gave us the name of the back-up Officiant (Reverend Mark), however he did not provide us with the contact information till the day of our wedding.
While trying to get my hair and makeup done day of, I tried to get acquainted with the new officiant so we could discuss the details of our ceremony. He stated he couldn’t pull up our ceremony information or talk because he had plans to go to breakfast with his girlfriend. He stated he would have to call us later…. I requested that he please call us before 12:30PM since our transportation was arriving then and we would not be able to talk in privacy. He called after, so I had to talk about our vows and ceremony details in front of my bridal party and parents. Despite Reverend Glynn having 1-2 months to finalize our ceremony, he sent Reverend Mark the original draft we had sent him with none of the updates that we discussed. This was very upsetting and confusing for everyone, including Reverend Mark. Ultimately, we were thankful that Reverend Mark was understanding and adaptable to our vision and requests.
A few days later, we received a call from the County saying that our marriage license needed more information (the title of Mark), which was just another thing we had to worry about. This is something we thought Sensational Ceremonies would be easing from our burdens and was one of the reasons why we chose them.
One week after our ceremony, we have received no follow-up from Glynn (apologies, asking us how things were, etc.), but our check to Sensational Ceremonies was cashed relatively quickly. Our condolences are with Glynn, however we feel this whole situation could have been handled more professionally.
