As we were planning our wedding, everyone told us that even if something goes wrong the only people that will know are the bride and the bride’s mother. While this saying was meant to assure us that despite “inevitable” issues the weekend of th...e wedding it would be all right. However, in our mind if we planned enough we could ensure there was no need for contingency plans. As the wedding approached though we realized there was just too much for a single couple to be able to juggle leading up to, and on the day of our wedding… at least while ensuring that we were able to enjoy our special day as stress free as possible. Shannon was the answer to all of that.
We brought Shannon into our vendor team late in the process, at this point we already had most of our vendors selected and hired. However, we wanted help with coordinating our vendors, ensuring all of the logistics were solidified, planning and executing on the decor aesthetic we were looking for, and finally creating the timeline for the day of the wedding. In what will become a common theme Shannon exceeded our expectations. We knew in order to give up control over these critical components of the wedding we would need somebody reliable, accountable, and available; again an area that Shannon went above and beyond in.
Shannon truly runs events she is involved in as if they were her own. She reaches out to vendors and members of the family / wedding party independently to coordinate logistics, ensures no key element to the success of the event goes overlooked, reaches out regularly and proactively with updates, and potentially most importantly, follows up with couples on action items that they owned to ensure nothing slips through the cracks. These traits and her approach to event planning ensured not just a great event, but a genuinely enjoyable and less stressful planning process. Furthermore, Shannon went above and beyond our expectations of an event planner by helping us consolidate our vendors’ contract payment terms into a single document to ensure timely and full payment, recommending reliable and trustworthy vendors she has worked with in the past to round out our vendor team (such as dessert and transportation), helping us procure specific design elements for decoration to fully bring our vision together, and critically brought her experience and expertise to help advise on things that would have otherwise been overlooked or not considered.
On the day of, Shannon brought in an assistant to help coordinate logistics across multiple sites so the wedding party could get ready off site while ensuring that all of the vendors were able to get access to and set up at the site of the ceremony and reception. I’m sure there were more roles that she played the day of such as coordinating the movement of decorations between ceremony and reception space, however, these were done so expertly that we as a couple were minimally involved and truly were able to be present at and enjoy our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception with our friends, families and guests.
Shannon was easily the MVP of our vendor team, ensuring that if there was an issue that occurred that weekend even we as the couple didn’t know. Without her our wedding would not have been the success of an event that it was. Our advice to all of our newly engaged friends has been to leave it to the professionals, get a wedding planner, and if possible get Shannon!
