I was a bridesmaid in a wedding recently where this vendor failed to show up - after the bride booked him MONTHS in advance, signed a contract that clearly spelled out the date and time of the event and spoke to him right before the wedding to confirm the date. The bride was devastated - she had her heart set on a beautiful video of her wedding and the vendor pulled a no call / no show. I spoke with him on the phone after trying to get a hold of him frantically the day of the event and while apologetic he made no effort to correct the wrongdoing, there was simply nothing we could do to find a backup vendor the day of the wedding, right before the ceremony. If I was going to be wiping tears from the brides face on her day it was supposed to be happy tears. Instead they were tears of sadness because the one thing she REALLY wanted for her day wasn't going to happen. Completely unprofessional, my recommendation is to look elsewhere.
I hired David Garza, owner of Seven 5 Media last year to do video for my May 15th wedding. We signed a contract, I paid half of the total cost, I called him about a month and a half before to confirm the date, which he did, and he said he'd be there at 2pm. At 2:30 on my wedding day, he still hadn't shown up, so I called him. He said that he had me down for June, there was no way he could make it, that he was sorry, and he'd have to refund me. He did have the money back to me the next morning, and apologized again, saying that he had rented out his equipment for the weekend. I know he feels bad, but there's not really a whole lot that will make me feel better about the situation. That was incredibly unprofessional- there is absolutely no reason for that kind of mix up when you have a contract in your hands that I signed, with the right date, AND I CALLED TO CONFIRM IT. How can you say, "Yes, I have you down for Friday, May 15th, and I'll be there at 2pm." and not have it in your planner?!?!?! I originally had two photographers, but cancelled one, since we were supposed to have 2 videographers. I ended up with one photographer, not enough pictures, no video, and a broken heart. That video was the one thing I had my heart set on since we got engaged 18 months ago, and David just forgot-or wrote it down wrong. Everything I was hoping to be able to watch for years to come, happened that night- the little kids dancing, running around, laughing, our sick grandma getting out on the dance floor to dance her butt off with her grandson, my husbands epic garter toss dance, it all happened. The little kids are going to grow up, our grandparents are going to die, and I wanted that video to be able to look back on together. Do yourselves a favor. Spend a little more money and hire a professional who writes the date down correctly in your first meeting, and doesn't leave you hanging the day of your wedding.
