This family-owned-and-operated establishment is nestled at the base of a ski-mountain range that offers breathtaking views throughout all four seasons. Couples who choose this venue will unearth a secluded and relaxed ambiance with views of the Des Moines River Valley. This ideal atmosphere makes for unforgettable wedding events that live long in the memory of every guest.
Facilities and Capacity
The Seven Oaks Recreation cabin resides on a 150-acre plot of land. The Lodge offers 4,600 square feet of event space, boasts sixteen-foot vaulted ceilings, and natural-pine walls that combine to complement the building's rustic charm. This large facility can accommodate up to 220 seated guests for extravagant festivities that run long into the night. The building also features the Conference Center, which is a 2,800-square-foot space with a capacity for 200 seated individuals. Couples can choose to use both The Lodge and the Conference Center in order to host grand celebrations with up to 300 guests. The center also features a bar that consists of locally-brewed beers, domestic beers, wine, and mixed drinks. Furthermore, couples who desire an outdoor ceremony can utilize the estate's well-manicured lawn in order to exchange their professions of love. With a stunning ski-slope backdrop, this one-of-a-kind ceremony site will be sure to amaze couples and their guests alike.
Services Offered
Seven Oaks Recreation offers an array of amenities to couples who rent the venue space. An on-site event team works with each couple to help design, organize, and implement a personalized event. Each function is supplemented by setup and cleanup services, which are provided by the staff. Couples can appropriate the venue's indoor and outdoor spaces, as well as the furniture that accompanies those facilities. Furthermore, the lodge boasts a large kitchen that serves as an ideal space for caterers to prepare the wedding meal.

In addition to their vast collection of standard services, the staff of the ski resort can supply a multitude of additional items and amenities. For couples who desire entertainment pursuits, there are paintball and kayaking activities available. If couples require something less physically exerting, an outdoor fire pit can be used to relax around.

our entire planning process with any questions we had and helped us finalize some of the smaller details that are often forgotten. All of the big things were set up when we arrived the day before and they even went above and beyond by making sure our napkins were folded as we had discussed at our final meeting. They were there to cue for timing of things for the ceremony as well as make sure we kept on top of our timeline throughout the reception. They additionally helped pack everything up at the end of the night making it substantially easier on us and our family to ensure we could truly enjoy the day. They’ve done a great job renovating spaces in order to ensure you have a comfortable space from rehearsal dinner to getting ready and getting married! There outdoor patio was a big hit for our wedding. It has plenty of tables for seating and is lit up with stylish lights. Inside, the bar was large enough for guests to hang out at bar top tables and beside the bar was a lighted sheet backdrop which many guests loved taking pictures in front of with props. We wanted to be married near Ames and Seven Oaks was a logical choice with its location near Boone off of Highway 30.
The planning process was very smooth and the timing for the meetings was logical as we worked toward the actual wedding date. The coordinator (Emma) was kind enough to allow additional viewings so family members could see the site prior to the big day.
I was happy the venue had a good relationship with a solid caterer (Lidderdale Country Store) and I did not have to worry a bit about the meal and the company's ability to work with the wedding venue's set-up.
The weather cooperated and we were able to have guests outside as well with social time and the use of the fire pit. Very pleased with the outdoor picture options too as the area around Seven Oaks is very scenic.
The package we picked was fantastic as it provided a busser to clear tables as well as bartenders for the evening. We are also pleased to have cloth table clothes and napkins and it really helped to make the location classy with the wood decor provided by the venue.
Emma is a fantastic coordinator and I was pleased with her questioning process along the way and all of the "what if" situations she was prepared for---we did forget some minor things (e.g. dessert plates) and she was ready with a solution.

The visual presentation of Seven Oaks has warmth with the knotty pine/cabin feel along with plenty of space to accommodate any size group with high 16' cielings to boot (Not to mention they provided a very tall ladder to hang my cieling decorations). Never did we feel cramped with our 200+ group! We had our ceremony out on the lush/manicured lawn right by the ski lift which was so fitting for us since we're ski/snowboard lovers but would suit any type of couple that desire an outdoor wedding. The Kitchen was very user friendly and easy to navigate for our caterer. Their bar had so many options for drink choice that it made our decisions easy and effortless and was located perfectly in between a quiet entrance and the reception area - a perfect social transition in our party!
