I got married here May 5, 2019, and I don’t have enough words in my vocabulary to describe my experience. The team at Shady Wagon Farm made my day everything that I had always dreamed of and more. Monica was my day-of coordinator and she made all of my visions come to life and executed everything even better than I could describe to her. We picked this venue not only for its beauty by looking at it, but because of the welcoming atmosphere from the second we toured. There was no pressure to pick them, but still treated us as if we’d already signed the contract. We even rode around on the golf cart and my son, who was two at the time, was so intrigued by the ducks and goose on the property, that they took us to see them up close. We were thrilled! The day of my wedding, all I did was show up and get ready, and everything beyond that was handled by SW. As a hairstylist who has done weddings for years, I was fully expecting to be super stressed, and I felt nothing but peace and excitement all day long! It even rained on my wedding day, and most of the time that would be a bad thing, but the “plan b” option was just as beautiful as out by the pond. The team flipped the ceremony from outside to under the overhang behind the barn in a timely manner, and again, made it stress-free for me! As a little girl I always said I wanted to get married in a red barn, and Shady Wagon (and the rain) made that happen! If you’re on the fence about Shady Wagon Farm, don’t be. Just do it! Even three years past my wedding day, I still keep in touch with the family and they truly are the best people ever.
I had the best experience ever for my wedding here! Monica was my wedding coordinator and she made it all go seamlessly even through a rainstorm! The property is stunning and my friends and family raved about the great time they had. It was so easy from start to finish to work with the vendors. It’s a hidden treasure in the Triangle area of NC. I highly recommend them!
We are so pleased and blessed that we were able to have both our rehearsal dinner and wedding at Shady Wagon Farm! We received TONS of compliments about how gorgeous the venue was and how it was the perfect elegant Farm feel! We could not agree with all the compliments more. we were amazed by the fantastic customer service that was provided by every member of the Shady Wagon Farm staff throughout the entire wedding planning process! They catered to every single wish we had and made our dreams a reality. We LOVE Shady Wagon and would recommend them for any type of event!
I had my wedding night here with 150 guests two weekends ago and absolutely love this place. The owners are super sweet and helpful and took us around the property multiple times and invited us and our families into their home. The reception was gorgeous there and we had nothing but good feedback from our friends and family. They've also updated the interior of the barn in the last month with extra lighting and new painting. I would recommend Cook Shack if you are looking for a caterer there -- they did a great job and the food was amazing. I thought the price was great for the venue compared to others I searched in the area and I liked that I had the freedom to pick my own budget for my caterer, supplying my own alcohol, etc. Can't recommend enough!
This wedding venue is perfect for any rustic themed wedding. The site is so beautiful and the staff are more than willing to help make your day perfect. You can tell Cindy loves her job and truly takes pride in this wedding venue. Awesome people and we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful place to get married!! If you choose a wedding planner, Terri with keep calm weddings knows the place so well and was beyond awesome!! Would highly recommend shady wagon farms
The venue is absolutely beautiful and a great place to have a wedding. My only complaint was that the air conditioning in the barn was not able to keep up with the summer heat to the point that the barn doors had to be opened to let in a draft. I would definitely get married at this venue again, but maybe not in the middle of the summer if you are expecting AC.
We got married at Shady Wagon Farm in October and absolutely loved it! Cindy (the owner), was warm and welcoming, and very accommodating to our ideas. Like some of the other reviews mentioned, there are so many decorations and props that are included, and it really cut down on our costs for making our wedding have that "elegant rustic" feel. The farm is conveniently located so that you get the feeling that you are out in country, without being too far from conveniences (hotels, restaurants, etc.) The only thing that could possibly be improved was communication. It's a little difficult to get someone on the phone, but they do respond to emails promptly. Would do it all over again in a heartbeat, we LOVE Shady Wagon!
I was the MOH last night at my sister's wedding. The venue was beautiful, however Cindy made the experience horrible. She continually lied and told us different stories all night. I was in the room when she came furious that someone in the parking lot was drinking and just started searching all of the wedding parties personal bags WITHOUT permission (there was clearly no liquor out in the open when she came in). Her comment below saying we allowed her is a complete lie. None of the wedding party was even drinking liquor and even if she suspected that we were she would have needed a cop with a warrant.
Then apparently later in the night she found someone smoking weed outside. I completely understand that it is not okay to do on the grounds, however I come up to a scene where she is making my sister (the bride) cry. When I asked what was going on she said "you aren't paying the bill get out of my face" very rudely. I understand that it is her property however there is a way to handle this professionally and she did anything but that. Several other guests also complained that she was very rude to them. A TEN yr old was walking around and she told him that she is going to keep an eye on him because he looked suspicious.
My sister paid a lot of money to have her wedding at this venue and Cindy ruined the stunning venue. Cindy, you are in the wedding business... learn how to handle things professionally. It is not the bride or grooms fault if someone is drinking in the parking lot etc. Kick those people out or cut them off at the bar. Do not sit there and continually tell my sister on her wedding night that her guests do not care about her and make her cry on her wedding day. Have some class.
Beautiful venue but very unprofessional owner. I attended a wedding at Shady Wagon and worked there as a bar tender for another wedding.
I was very impressed with the how beautiful it was. You drive in on a path lined with tobacco plants, there is a cute pond with ducks and geese, the barn for the reception is nicely decorated. But no matter how beautiful the site is, it is not worth dealing with terrible people. Especially on your wedding day.
The first time I went to Shady Wagon I was working for a catering company as a bartender. This was about a year ago, so I don't remember all the specifics. I do remember that the owner reprimanded us (the caterers) in front of guests. It was for things that shouldn't have been a big deal and could have been dealt with quietly after the guests had left. Also, the owner had some issue with what the wedding planner was doing and was yelling, literally yelling, at her about something that I found laughable. Luckily there were no guests around for this tiff. Some people do not know how to treat service people, so I chalked her unprofessional attitude to this fact.
Recently I attended a wedding as a guest and the owner tried her best to ruin the bride and grooms day. It began when we were dancing and the bride and groom were called up to the DJ booth. Instead if something fun or a cute wedding announcement, the owner pulls the bride, groom and most of the wedding party to the back of the dance floor and proceeds to argue with them. The bride is crying, the mother is crying, the owner is yelling (maybe over the music but most likely in anger). No one is dancing anymore. Everybody is turned around looking at the scene the owner is causing.
After they fight for a while (20 min) they disperse. We dance for a bit more. As the weirdness of the argument lifts, the DJ stops the music and the owner grabs the microphone.
I would just like to preface this next part with saying, I have been to some crazy, out-of-control weddings and this was no where close to that. The owner had found some people drinking liquor in the parking lot and a bag with a pipe, not for tobacco ;-) in it. She called us terrible people and was physically shaking with anger. She threatened to call the Chatham Co sherif. She said that if we had friends that smoked pot we must be horrible people too and she didn't want those types of people at her venue.
She informed us that the party couldn't go on until someone claimed the pipe. She held up the bag and of course no one claimed it. To end the strange standoff one of the groomsman tried to claimed it. But the all the guests said that it wasn't his (he's not the kind of guy to smoke pot) and the person probably went home. She finally yielded her standoff with the wedding party. She said that she would be in the corner waiting for someone to claim it. She also wanted all flasks to be turned into the bar so they could be emptied and returned.
Instead of causing a scene and making the bridal party cry in front of their guests. She could have quietly pulled the groomsmen and bridesmaids in a separate room and asked them to speak to the few people causing the problem.
I would also like to say that the owner was not dressed appropriately to work at a wedding. Dingy shorts and a teeshirts is normally okay for a barn, but it was just one more way that the owner disrespected her clients.
I absolutely love meeting Cindy and Lynn. They were fabulous to work with! Also, the facility and location is perfect for a country wedding. The only complaint I have is that I had a Saturday wedding and they booked a Friday and Sunday wedding around mine making it hard and more expensive for my rental deliveries and pickups.
This was a beautiful venue.
All the folks at Shady Wagon Farm were super helpful and flexible when it came to planning out and executing our wedding rehearsal & ceremony. We were delighted to have our wedding ceremony and reception in the same beautiful location, and their "back up plan" for rainy day weather ended up being even more beautiful than what we had planned (the outdoor ceremony.) We also appreciated that they don't require you to work with any other specific vendors. Cindy & the gang were a pleasure to work with, our families loved the farm, and it was just exactly what we wanted.
We got married at Shady Wagon Farm in November and loved it! The owner, Cindy, was super helpful and let us use some of the 'farm props' without charging us extra like other venues would. We were allowed access to the farm all day if we needed it. They recently added a building where the bride and the groom can get ready privately that are super cute. Cindy was very prompt with returning e-mails and let us visit the farm several times during our planning to look around.
The venue at shady Wagon Farm is so wonderful. The weddin was beautiful. It is so peaceful out there and the woman who runs the location is the sweetest woman ever. I enjoyed my experiance with Shady Wagon so much.
Alright, I may be a little biased considering it was MY wedding after all, but seriously, Shady Wagon Farm was the most beautiful setting for a beautiful day! I really wanted a true southern wedding (especially to shock all of my New Jersey relatives--who didn't even end up coming!) and Shady Wagon Farm was exactly that. The cost was better than any other venue we had looked at and Cindy was excellent in making our day perfect. I was turned off at first because there were no packaged deals (they don't have any catering on staff, just preferred vendors) but it worked out to our advantage. We went with all of their recommendations and the day could not have gone better!
SWF was exactly what my fiance and I were looking for. If you are looking to have around 160 attending guest SWF will be a great fit. Much more than that then it starts to get cramped. The uniques country style and feel makes decorating very easy! It has an elegant feel that you would not expect in a "barn" reception. If you are looking for somewhere where your parents and grandparents can stay on-site and get catered to then this is a great place! Mrs. Cindy is a great cook and will make you laugh! Please check it out. It is a great find and worth the drive!!
