ScubaSteve! Man we love our DJ! Not only was everything on point and well-rehearsed, he made sure that the music was always what people wanted to hear. We had a few specific songs that we wanted played and they were perfectly executed. There was a tiny mishap during our first dance (I don’t think anyone knows what really happened lol) BUT that is what makes the biggest (and best) memory. The song cut off mid-way but all of guests kept singing for us and it was absolutely magical! We opted for the dance on the clouds and the cold sparklers, and they did NOT disappoint whatsoever! The pictures came our spectacular and we could not have asked for a better photo op! An opportunity that I would focus on is to definitely dedicate more time to reviewing the timeline prior to the wedding and adding some queues we would have wanted. One specific queue that was a miss on OUR end (not the DJs) was the announcement of the coffee bar opening to get more people to take advantage. We also would have like for some small reminders such as to sign the guest book, take your favors and pictures home with you, etc. This may have happened at the end of the night (we just may have been a little distracted). Regardless, the night was lively and magical and I know it was definitely a large component to our DJ for keeping the party alive. Thank you again for everything!
Steve and his team were amazing! They were very professional and really fun to work with. They got everyone on the dance floor and were so accommodating to the different song requests. My husband and I received so many compliments from our guests of how much fun they had. Our day was so special thanks to Steve and his team. Thanks again guys!
From the Groom: "Scuba Steve's communication was on point! He had ideas about things we didn't even think about. His knowledge, experience, and expertise made us confident in hiring him. On the big day, he helped the event run smoothly by guiding the wedding party and vendors alike. The most important thing to us was keeping everyone on the dance floor. Steve accomplished this task with flying colors! I would highly recommend SL Events & Production for your entertainment needs!
From the Bride: Scuba Steve and SL Events & Production were a dream to work with! From the moment I reached out, Steve carved time in his busy schedule to chat on the phone about my dream reception. To say he delivered an unforgettable party would be an understatement! The music, the lights, the hype, and the professionalism were bar none! Thank you, Steve for helping our ceremony and reception to run so smoothly! He even made a logo for me and my husband and surprised us with it!
If you want a raging party of a reception, look no further!
*Photos to come!*
Steve made this wedding the most fun I’ve had in years, very professional, very kind, very accommodating
Steve was awesome! He answered every call/ text and made sure everything went smoothly. Music was awesome and everyone danced!
I was extremely happy with the service provided my DJ & MC. They were both very professional, upbeat, and played awesome music taking into account my mix of English speaking/Spanish speaking guests. Going into it, I was extremely concerned with the transition to the end. Being that I had just come as a guest to another wedding where the location simply turned on the lights and the DJ apologized but that that present song was going to be the last one of the night. DJ Steve and his MC in their expertise...executed a smooth transition towards the end of the evening....slowly preparing us (B&G) and our guests towards the finale! I loved loved (2x) working with them. They make a great party!!! I'd hire them again in a minuet!!!
DJ SCUBA STEVE DID A WONDERFUL JOB AT OUR WEDDING!! HE DID THE CEREMONY MUSIC, UPLIGHTING, AND THEN THE RECEPTION. ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!! I GOT SO MANY COMPLIMENTS ON THE MUSIC. HE KEPT EVERYONE DANCING ALL NIGHT LONG!! THE UPLIGHTING WAS BEAUTIFUL!! THANK YOU SO MUCH SCUBA STEVE!! I WOULD RECOMMEND YOU 100%
DJ Scuba Steve...oh were do I even begin! Steve showed up for our meeting and said "Your day, your way!" Well, you let me down Steve! From not having any out of the box recommendations for the processional at our first meeting which led me to listening to hours and hours of music on the internet to find what I wanted to use (and we know how much time we all have the month before our weddings) to calling me 2 days before my wedding to tell me he couldn't find songs like Unchained Melody instrumental and then asking me to purchase the music myself and even provide him a cd for the cocktail hour! That's just the fun beginning! Steve also mispronounced several names in my wedding party including my new mother inlaw, her name is Eileen not Ellen!! He also played the song where they lift you up on the chairs, it was fun but I'm Cathloic and I think it's only for Jewish weddings but hey, I went with it! He played off my playlist but then added in his own music which is fine as long as people are dancing which they were not so I went over and said "turn this place into a club please" and he pointed at my playlist as to say "i am only playing what you told me" but...I did't request Jackson 5 so you can't blame the fact that no one was dancing on me! All in all I would say that Steve was punctual, good with the crowd but unorganized, unintelligent and confrontational. I thought it was "my day my way?" I don't typically leave reviews but I got a call today (Fathers day at 6pm) from Steve asking me if I had left a bad review for him on this site. I said "no it wasn't me" he said "you are the only bride that has ever had a problem with me." And from there he basically called me a liar and swore it was me that left the review. So now, I am leaving a review 4 months after my wedding (btw, the other review was for a wedding in 2010). Big Mistake! HUGE! Wow! A vendor has that calls on a holiday to accuse you of something you did not do and when you say you didn't do it he gets aggressive on the phone. I'm blown away!!! Professionalism? Not with Scuba Steve. My hotel recommended him and when I heard his price I went for it. You certainly get what you pay for and a lot more. Oh, by the way, he also threatened to sue me if I left a bad review. I am waiting to hear from his attorney now. lol
DJ Scuba Steve's prices are great-- you have to give him that-- but you do get what you pay for. If you are into a real Miami/rough/club-ish kinda DJ, this may be the guy for you. However, if you are looking for a DJ that will fit with more polite company, an elegant or traditional wedding, or a really likable guy, this may not be the choice for you. I give him 2 stars for service because he was quick to respond to email and always answered the phone, and showed up to my event on time, but the rest of his service was mediocre at best, offensive at worst. Despite my giving him a list of names for the wedding party three days in advance, and despite a face-to-face meeting, AND a perfect run-through immediately before announcing the wedding party (immediately as in less than 5 minutes) DJ Scuba Steve managed to completely butcher the announcement-- he announced a completely wrong name for my husband when he introduced us! And my husband has a very common, simple name-- like Mike (that is not his real name, just saying)! We were a little miffed and a little embarrassed by this. When I politely corrected him a few minutes later, he said, "Well, it is okay-- I don't think anyone even noticed." Um, seriously!!?!? This is our entire family and closest friends-- of course everyone noticed! But I guess these things happen. In order to get everyone up and dancing (which is what we wanted), DJ Scuba Steve literally barked at my guests who did not heed his call for everyone to get to the dance floor. He approached every.single.guest who did not get up, yelling at the them into the microphone. Directed the shy, 20-something husband of a cousin, DJ Scuba Steve YELLED into the microphone, "You! Get up! Yeah I'm talking to you-- what, are you deaf??" Offensive, rude, and completely uncalled for. After his mostly-successful tirade, DJ Scuba Steve refocused his attention on the dance floor and launched into a tacky group dance and I had specifically asked him not to do three days earlier-- whatever, it would not have been a big deal at all if he had not ruined our introduction, shouted at our guests, and humiliated some in the process. In all fairness, after that rocky beginning Scuba Steve did calm down and the rest of the time was pretty uneventful. He played all of the songs I had requested ahead of time, and skipped the "do-not-plays" that I had asked of him. So, all in all, he got the job done, so he gets two stars for that, and his price was good. But seriously, the deaf comment and the botched intro? I had to ask my videographer to edit that out!
