My husband and I got married at Sofitel Philadelphia with an intimate wedding cocktail and reception. We had only two months between our engagement and wedding, and despite the short amount of time we could see several venues in Center City, Philadelphia. Sofitel stood out from others with its spacious wedding venue which was the right size for our small party. We had the cocktail, ceremony and reception all in the same room. Starting from the first day of planning, Michael Mitloff has been very kind, understanding, attentive and professional. He has always greeted us with a big smile at the lobby and managed every detail with such efficiency. He understood our needs and directed us to a great photographer and floral designer. He reserved us a great couple’s suite to get ready on the day of the wedding. Our guests praised the attentiveness of the staff on the wedding day and they even said that they had the best wedding dinner. It was very delicious! We should also mention that Valerie and Amir have been very helpful and kind during the reception. Everything moved very smoothly throughout the night even though we requested a couple changes in the wedding program at the last minute. Now looking back, we think that our wedding couldn’t been any better and we are so happy that we made the best decision by choosing the Sofitel in Center CIty, Philadelphia.
he Sofitel exceeded my expectations and made my day amazing. My husband (who is British) and I looked at 10 venues and this was the only one where the coordinator Lisa DeLuca asked about us as a couple and what we were looking for and incorporated that into the reception. I live in the UK and had to rely on my mom and the Sofitel and they made planning seamless - nothing was too demanding. The Sofitel's package per head INCLUDES tax and service -which made it much easier to budget, was one of the most reasonable and offers a lot of value for money. Guests remarked how classy the food and setup was. We had a US/UK red/white/blue theme and Lisa and her team went out of their way to add touches such as blue lighting, red white and blue petits fours and fruit cake. They adjusted the drinks list to accomodate our favorite beer and wines and set up coffee in the lobby for guests. They set up a lovely room for hair and makeup on the day of the wedding and Lisa got the florist back there after the delivery had mistakes. Also a thank you to Valerie who works with Lisa, Svetlana who smoothly handled our room block, Olga who supervised the reception, Dashmir the banquet server who made the Sunday morning brunch flow smoothly and my wine glass filled at the reception and the rest of the warm, professional, friendly staff. I really had a day of a lifetime and I would wholeheartedly recommend the Sofitel as a reception venue for its sophistication, service and strong value for money.
I can't say enough good things about the Sofitel as a wedding venue. Our guests were so impressed and they really tried to make every aspect of the planning and the day as seamless and easy as possible.
We had our wedding here on July 15 and it was amazing. Our wedding was everything I dreamed and the Sofitel staff helped bring it all together. The rooms were great. The food and drink were amazing. It was an experience and night that I will never forget! Lisa is amazing and helped bring all of my ideas and thoughts together. She constantly checked up on us during the event and even helped sew a button back onto my wedding gown after my bustle came undone! I can't say enough positive things about the Sofitel, if I had to do this all over again, I'd stick with the Sofitel.
We had an absolutely amazing time at our wedding at the Sofitel and I would highly recommend that anyone else getting married in the city of Philadelphia considers them! I initially was hesitant about having our wedding at a hotel since I didn’t want that “cookie cutter” feel. We visited several different venues in Center City Philly (some were hotels and others were just venues with an outside catering service and event staff). From our first meeting with the Sofitel we knew it had the best to offer of both worlds, a convenient, central location, hotel location+ amenities as well as a nice, upscale atmosphere. The package that the Sofitel offers is extremely clear and lays out exactly what you get for the price you are paying. Whenever we had a special request for something, they accommodated us with no extra hassle or charge, which I know a lot of other venues won’t do. The package is VERY reasonable price-wise for what it includes and I honestly don’t think we could have gotten anything else near the value we paid for the service level and day-of benefits that we received. It was so nice to know exactly what we were getting for what we were paying and not have to factor in additional costs if we wanted to tweak something, as I know a lot of my friends have complained about for their weddings. Lisa DeLuca, the banquet manager, was also super accommodating and very easy to work with. She ensured that everything went smoothly, from our meetings to discuss details, to the wedding day itself. I cannot say enough about this venue and you should definitely see what they have to offer!
I can't begin to explain how absolutely incredible our wedding was on 10/29/16 at the Sofitel Hotel. I wanted to find a venue where we could get married and have the perfect "Hallowedding" for our reception. I immediately fell in love with the event/wedding planners at the Sofitel, Lisa Deluca and Patricia Mcdonald! They are AMAZING. So sweet and we bonded right from the start. Lisa, the wedding coordinator, spent many, many hours working with my family and I on making this day perfect, and was so wonderful to work with. I feel so fortunate having the opportunity to work with them. The staff at the Sofitel were so responsive and accommodating, and helped us make our wedding as unique and personal as we wanted it. And trust me, we had a very beautiful and unique wedding and it was just perfect! We truly felt like the main event at the Sofitel that night- it was so special.
On the day of the wedding, I got ready with all my beautiful bridesmaids and women in my wedding party in the Presidential Suite (oh my god it is AMAZING, GORGEOUS and HUGE). I felt like a queen staying in the suite, and the hotel took such fantastic care of me, my family, and guests. I have gorgeous pictures getting ready in the suite-some of my favorite pictures from that day.
Our ceremony was in the ballroom and everything went very smoothly. We used Robertson's Florist, who already does the floral arrangements for the Sofitel and they did a fantastic job with our wedding.
Cocktail hour was terrific. Our guests went nuts for all of the hors d' oeuvres -- and they were delicious. The Sofitel did many personal touches for our "Hallowedding," particularly at the bar and throughout the cocktail hour as we requested. The ballroom then turned into our reception room and it was even more perfect than I could have ever imagined. Just stunning. The food was out of this world-- and I mean all of it!! However, I have a sweet tooth and all I TRULY cared about was the dessert. The Sofitel went above and beyond to create my dream come true-- a pie station with tons and tons of different pies, a sundae station, cookies, cake, and they set up my "trick or treat" candy bags. The dessert room was unreal-- I am still craving it!
I also have to give a special shout out to IRINA, Banquet Director at the Sofitel, who is super sweet, adorable, and helped make the night perfect for us:-) and to DASHMIR, our personal attendant throughout the day AND brunch the next day. He was PHENOMENAL!!!!
I am still on a wedding high and can honestly go on and on about how amazing our wedding was at the Sofitel (and basically did). My family and I recommend the Sofitel 100% to anyone looking to plan a special event. They will take care of you and make your vision come to life. Thank you LISA, PATRICIA, AND THE SOFITEL for making us an unforgettable wedding- it was the best day of our lives.
If you want to feel like a princess on your wedding day – you MUST book The Sofitel! As another reviewer said, The Sofitel is unparalleled in terms of service, sophistication, and quality. They are simply amazing. From the pre-wedding planning to the accommodations, to the food, venue, and especially the staff, everything not only met, but exceeded my expectations.
I knew the minute I met with Michael over a year ago that The Sofitel was special. Michael immediately understood our wedding vision of a cocktail party with heavy appetizers. Other venues were very dismissive of this idea even saying that we did not understand how weddings worked! Michael took the time to walk us through every option and was as excited as us for the wedding!
During the year of pre-planning, Lisa and Valerie, our POC’s, went above and beyond. The word no was never said. Instead, they did whatever was necessary to help us create our vision including using the Paris Foyer for the ceremony and figuring out how to fit almost 200 people! They worked seamlessly with my mother-in-law to organize a day after brunch. Every question and concern was immediately answered. The attention to detail including food allergies was refreshing and I knew that no matter what it would be a great wedding and it was!
Our wedding weekend was beyond smooth! Lisa and Valerie had everything under control even to the point of finding my mother shoes when hers did not fit an hour before the ceremony! During the reception, everything was handled so beautifully and seamlessly! I am still blown away. The food was amazing and our guests have not stopped raving!
The attention to the little details really is what stands out for me. Whenever I met with Lisa & Valerie at the hotel – Michael made it a point to be there to say hello. Lisa and Valerie were in constant communication not just with me but my vendors. They would email me just to check in to see HOW I was doing especially as the big day approached! Valerie being there when we dropped off the dropped off the gift bags and other items for the wedding. And finally, having a server assigned to the bride and groom solely to cater to your needs – these are just a few of the many little touches that make The Sofitel special.
Choosing to have our wedding at the Sofitel was one of the best decisions ever! Throughout the yearlong process, we were never made to feel like a nameless client but friends. Thank you to everyone at the Sofitel for making our wedding such a special and wonderful experience. I cannot recommend the Sofitel highly enough!
The Sofitel is unparalleled in terms of service, sophistication, and quality. From the start, Valerie (one of two main POCs for brides and grooms) walked us through every single step and detail of planning our wedding and I felt as though we were in great hands. From the tasting, where each member of the planning team walked us through the menu and options for the cocktail hour, to the week-of meeting, where each member of the highly skilled team went out of their way to meet us- I was impressed to say the least.
During the reception, everything was handled so beautifully and seamlessly! I am still blown away. During the night of, a server is assigned to the bride and groom solely to cater to your needs and those of your immediate family. He was there to relay any information I needed, and keep things flowing smoothly. I didn't have a care in the world the night of the wedding!
My guests raved about the food, rooms, quality of the bar and servers, and overall atmosphere. You can't do better than the Sofitel in Philadelphia. I can't recommend it highly enough!
Services Used: Ceremony & Reception Venue
How can I describe the service of the Sofitel for my wedding? I am not sure it is even possible to eloquently put into words but I will try. From the moment I went to tour this venue I was impressed by the service. The value was tremendous and the all inclusive price made it very easy for me to get a handle on my budget. Additionally, any special request I wanted was honored. It was really incredible. After my wedding the whole guest list raved about the food and service. The city ambiance was just what we wanted. We would get married here again and again. The best part, they let our dog walk down the isle and stay in our room. Totally perfect for us and our special family.
Sofitel did our wedding, did our food, our arrangement, our cake and dessert, and it all came with Lisa Strickland, who is just amazing. She is super attentive to your needs. The whole night unfolded so smoothly without any, WITHOUT any issues. Nothing. Zip. Nada. The staff really takes care of you and all your guests who are there for your wedding, and also guests who are staying for the night. Furthermore, you have a designated staff who stays with you to serve your every need. They wrapped our food our belongings and delivered it to our rooms post wedding. They politely ask you and stay behind you in case you need something or someone. Absolutely fabulous & beautiful. If we were to do it all again, we'd pick it again and again. Thank you so much for a wonderful & memorable evening. -- great perk, u get the bridal suite- the presidential suite where you and your girls can get ready. So convenient!!!!
We utilized the Sofitel's Liberte Lounge for our cocktails & appetizers and then moved to their restaurant, Chez Colette, for our reception. We did NOT use their ballroom. The staff was exceedingly friendly and the food was outstanding!!
While it is not reflected in our star rating, I would like to mention that the food was not served in the way we had requested. We had planned for "small plates" and definitely were clear that we did not want sternos with our guests serving themselves. We got sternos. And our guests served themselves. Everyone raved about the food and not one of them complained about the manner in which it was served, but it was a bit annoying to us on our special day. Particularly when we had been so specific.
Again, in the end this did not effect the overall rating for this venue because everything else was spectacular.
The Sofitel service is sub par for the price of a room and also for the many other hotel options near by. The hotel staff was extremely unorganized during the check in process which in turn made our photographer miss our rehearsal the day before the wedding. It was not the end of the world but very inconvenient when our photographer was traveling from out of town. In addition the hotel did not pass out our welcome bags to any of our guests who stayed there and actually ended up throwing them away. The hotel did attempt to reconcile some of the issues but I would not trust them for your wedding needs. Obviously I had higher expectations for this hotel and unfortunately they fell short in the customer service area.
Hotel Sofitel is a lovely venue, with a great location. The only thing missing is costumer service. The value is good for the level of hotel.
Right in the heart of philly, it was easy for use to get to, walk to dinner, and go to the nightlife. Big rooms, lots of mirrors, perfect for any girls night!
We had both our ceremony and reception at the Sofitel. The service provided by the team at the Sofitel more than exceeded our expectations. The venue was perfect in satisfying our vision; the food was abundant and delicious; and the service throughout the process and throughout the day was exceptional. There were so many people, particularly, Melody, Lauren, Xavier, Jessica, & Marla, who made the process and the day perfect for us. The responsiveness and accommodations were excellent. The pastry chef even created a special banana dessert for us to be included in the dessert bar. Our family and friends are still talking about the service and accommodations at the Sofitel. It was the perfect venue and I highly recommend Sofitel Philadelphia.
beautiful location excellent staff wonderful place for a wedding
I had my wedding at the Sofitel - ceremony and reception. Being a luxury hotel, this of course was at no small cost to us. The venue was exactly what we wanted, and the food was excellent. I would expect nothing less. No complaints there.
We were instructed by the hotel to have someone we trusted bring our gifts to our room early in the evening during the reception, as to see that they did not "go missing." Unfortunately for us, that was the biggest mistake we could have made. My maid of honor took our gifts up before dinner was served. At this time she noted the room was as we had left it while the bridal party had been getting ready that afternoon. There had been some cards handed to us later in the evening- which she brought up a second time a the end of the night when she noted that the room had been cleaned and prepared for our first night as a married couple by the hotel.
When going through our gifts we noticed that MANY were missing. This was no mistake- family members cards, groomsmen cards, and many others were missing. We had to call each of them to determine exactly how much had been stolen to arrive at the conclusion that not only were they stolen, but a large majority were cash. Of the $4,000 stolen from us, $3,800 of that was cash and/or gift cards.
We filed a police report as well as an insurance claim with the hotel. This is when this gets very interesting. I offered a copy of our police report to hotel security as well as the insurance company, both declined and said it was not necessary. I received a letter from the insurance company that our claim had been denied as there was no proof of a robbery, AND the letter states the only key used to enter the room on the date of the wedding was my own. I know for a fact this is not the case. Our florist used a key to enter earlier in the day- provided by the hotel, hotel staff had been in the room after the gifts were placed there for turn down service, and hotel staff was again in our room at the end of the night to deliver the centerpieces that were left in the reception area.
It is very disconcerting to me that such a large hotel is able to do something so egregious with absolutely no repercussions. Hotel security assured me they would be able to find out who had been in our room, and would follow up with me with their results, but instead they falsified records. The general manager offered me a free stay at the Sofitel Philadelphia for my trouble. Why on Earth would I want to go back? In addition, I only live a few blocks from the hotel, this would hardly be a treat- only a return to the scene of the crime committed against us.
As far as I know, the thief or thieves are still employed by the Sofitel Philadelphia. Be aware!
Unbelievable...from the venue (which is so modern and chic) to the food and of course the marvelous staff, everything was absolutely perfect for my August wedding. I had the pleasure of working with Melody, Jessica, Xavier & all the wonderful staff at the Sofitel. The hotel is sophisticated and intimate-- you really get personalized service for your wedding day. We got a great room rate, everyone raved about the hotel rooms & location. C'est Magnifique !!
I recently had my wedding at the Sofitel and it was beyond wonderful. From the staff, the service and the food - it was absolutely amazing. I had the pleasure of working with Melody, Marla, Xavier and Jessica. This entire team is incredible! Melody was such a huge part of my day and I couldn't have made it through without her help and guidance. Our guests raved about the guest rooms as well. They are spacious and modern.
Our waiter for the evening was wonderful as well. We had misplaced a special token item from our ceremony, and he was able to find it the next day. WOW!
I would highly recommend this hotel for any special event. Thank you for again!
I just got married March 5th, and we had the most beautiful reception at Sofitel. Right from the start, our coordinator Melody Duffy was very helpful. She walked us through the whole process and was friendly and accomodating. Everything from the selection of wedding packages, to arranging the tables and seating chart, to setting up the favors and placecards, just to mention a few of the things she helped me with. The food tasting was amazing, and the selection for the food that we chose was absolutely delicious. In addition, Marla from reservations was kind enough to help me with a room-block for my out of town guests, and was very helpful in figuring all that out. I highly reccommend Sofitel for wedding receptions, because the professionalism, quality of food and service, and beautiful ambiance was all excellent. I couldn't have had a better reception, it was absolutely perfect.
The food was excellent. The hotel was sleek and modern.;The food portions were much smaller than we were led to believe. There were additional fees that were not disclosed at the time we booked the site for the reception. Our contract included wedding coordination services for the day of the ceremony and we were extremely disappointed with the performance of the coordinator. She was abset for a majority of the necessary elements and did not attend to the details though we had produced several detailed documents and reviewed these several times prior.
