Wow. Where do I start? I knew as soon as I stepped out of the car during our first visit to Sorella Farms that this was our wedding venue. It’s GORGEOUS. There are 4 incredible ceremony sites, a beautiful view of the mountains, a charming yellow farmhouse, and a rustic, but classy barn for the reception that has everything we needed and wanted. It was exactly what we were looking for. But the real reason I am writing this review is to rave about the team at Sorella. Mike, Maddy, and the entire team were incredible. They were so responsive- easy to reach by text or a quick phone call if I ever had any questions (and I had a lot). Mike made sure I had everything I needed and wanted. He even ordered special table runners just for me because he didn’t have the color I wanted. The whole team was so accommodating and a true pleasure to work with. My wedding day was so easy and stress free because they handled so much for me. These people truly love weddings and making wedding days so special for people. If I had to do it all again, I would do it at Sorella. Seriously couldn’t have asked for a better venue and team behind it. Thank you Mike and everyone at Sorella!!
Mike and Lindsey were wonderful to work with! Lindsey called me several times during the planning process (and the ever changing plans thanks to COVID) to make sure I was doing well! The venue itself is absolutely stunning! Everyone who works at Sorella is amazing! The day of ran so smoothly! I have had many guest talk about how beautiful it is out there and several vendors tell me how great Sorella was to work with! They definitely go above and beyond!
We are from Northern Virginia. When we were looking for wedding venues almost 3 years ago, we searched all across the state for the picturesque scenery and venue we wanted, before settling on Sorella. Even though Sorella Farms is almost 4 hours away, we happily made the trip year after year because of how beautiful the mountains and the barn are, how gracious the owner Mike Mullins and his crew of coordinators are, and the magnetic charm and hospitality we feel when we go down South.
Every time we come down, something has improved on the site. Mike invests his heart and soul into the place, and his coordinator Lindsey is the absolute best. Everything about the barn, the scenery, the coordinating staff, and of course the owner, are top-notch. We wouldn't have booked Sorella almost 3 years out and made everyone drive 4 hours if we didn't believe there was no other place like it in Virginia. I would gladly recommend any bride and groom to choose their venue at Sorella, you will not regret it.
*** A note about reviews that mentioned discrimination/intolerance: By no means do we share the same ethnicity, religion, political views, or any other qualifying characteristic as Mike (we are Asian, secular, and exceedingly liberal). We had several LGBT friends and guests at our event. One of my groomsmen was transgender! I never thought twice about any of this. There's not an intolerant bone in Mike's body, and perhaps when you chat with the owner too you can discover for yourself how genuine, open, and honest Mike and his staff are to everyone who wants to celebrate their special day with him. Mike poured his heart and soul into making our wedding day the best that it could be: from building our arbor for us, to adding a fountain, to building another ceremony site. Mike will do everything he can to make it happen. So a statement that Mike or his staff are "homophobic" I think is ludicrous or perhaps misguided. I hope you take the chance to visit Sorella for yourself, and fall in love with it, as we have.
My now husband (!) and I booked Sorella Farms in March 2017 for our 9/21/19 wedding. Needless to say it was a LONG engagement and that included the venue being auctioned to a new owner. Now let me tell you that was probably one of the most stressful things that can happen to a stressed out bride because the venue is probably the most important thing for your wedding. We were worried that it would stop even being a venue. So you can imagine our relief when it was announced that the Mullins family (who has a son that actually owns a photography business in Lynchburg) took over and planned to keep everything the same.
Not only did they keep everything the same, they made things even better. They made a better space for the caterers, they installed a fountain in the pond, they also will have another ceremony space (which currently they have three spaces). Mike, out of the goodness of his heart, even made a special arbor for us (we even picked the stain!) because of the difficulties we were having with another arbor. They genuinely care about the venue and their couples.
The venue itself is gorgeous, set along rolling hills. Their barn has a vintage look to it that we fell in love with immediately. The real gem however, is the operations manager, Lindsey Thompson. Not only is she an amazingly sweet, humble human being but my god she was SO HELPFUL. She helped us during set up, she was there to bounce ideas off of(which is great considering we don't live close to Lynchburg), and she even delivered our guitar to our hotel room when we forgot it at the venue when our wedding ended. My husband and I wanted to help with cleanup and she scolded us and made us go home! Her mission was to help make sure we were taken care of, and we were. Sorella also contracts with A Little Party Events to do all the planning and day of coordination and that in itself took ALL the stress off us so we truly enjoyed the day.
Look, I could go on and on and on but do yourself the favor and if you're considering Sorella, go ahead and book the tour. You'll see what I mean when you see it in person.
I'm not usually one to write reviews, nor am I trying to start a vengeful campaign against this venue, but they really hurt me and my partner and I think that's something that other folks looking to book this venue (especially queer folks and lgbt+ allies!) need to be able to take into account.
There are a lot of great reviews for Sorella Farms online, but many of them are from before its ownership changed hands. Based on our experience with the new owner's homophobia, I would be pretty wary about whether he has other prejudices that often align with it.
Sorella farms was beautiful when we visited, and the staff member who gave us a tour was so gracious. We were convinced almost immediately that our search for the perfect venue was over. But instead of being emailed the promised info on booking, we were told that the owner, Mike, wanted to speak with us on the phone.
Mike let us know that, despite what we had been told by the staff, we wouldn't be able to put simple decor up to cover the gendered bathroom signs (making our trans wedding guests more comfortable) because men and women have inherently different "functions," like needing tampons versus breath mints. He randomly asked if we had planned our menu for the wedding yet, then rambled about how Virginia and anywhere near the Bible Belt was still "rough" and that we needed to know that. I thought he was revving up to tell us that some of the vendors could potentially discriminate against us, until he revealed that it was really just himself.
Mike announced that he had "decided" that the venue would allow us to marry on the property, which I didn't realize had ever been in question. Based on his comments about not being allowed to legally discriminate against us, I wondered if the reason behind the week-long absence of booking info was because he was busy looking into his options to ban us from the venue. Unable to bar us, he stressed that we may not be comfortable getting married somewhere where the venue's owners didn't agree with our beliefs.
I doubt that he wanted us to be "comfortable" on our wedding day, as he admitted he does not believe we should be allowed to get married at all. We had been planning on paying for a full package and letting the venue handle catering, flowers, the dj, etc., and I was worried that this giant portion of our wedding day would be overseen by someone who couldn't provide us with respectful and equal treatment. We declined to book, so I guess Mike got what he wanted without having to bring the law into it.
I don't know that what we experienced fit the legal description of discrimination, but it certainly was heartbreaking to be faced with the choice of losing our beloved venue or spending the best day of our lives remembering that people find the biggest blessing of my life to be disgusting.
It's pretty silly to call homophobia a "difference in beliefs." This isn't about religion (I have a feeling Mike and I share the same faith, though we practice it quite differently) or an opinion about what reality is. I don't believe that I can get married, I just can! And I will, in a big, fat, gay, joyful ceremony, and some other venue will get a ton of money that Mike could have had.
My partner and I toured the venue and were in love and requested to book it for our wedding. However, instead of sending us info on booking, the owner, Mike, called my partner and I a week after our tour to express to us that he is homophobic and transphobic and believes in the fundamental differences in men and women and does not think it is right for same sex couples to get married. He said he legally had to let us book his place if we still wanted to, but of course we did not.

I remember when we first viewed Sorella Farms, it was absolutely stunning, the pictures do not do it justice! The mirrors on the walls and the lights inside the barn are just gorgeous. We just got married May 25th at Sorella, and it was absolutely wonderful! The whole planning process was super smooth and easy and they were available to you at all times. All the vendors they introduced us to were so nice and some of the best in the area, they had something for every budget and were able to work with you to get what you want. All the staff was accommodating to our needs and did their best to make sure our wedding was exactly how we wanted it, and it was.
We were planning on getting married at Sorella Farms and we were super excited about it. About 4 months before our wedding, we found out through an Facebook that a vendor shared-that the venue was up for auction? We hadn’t been aware of anything going wrong with the venue and never even got an email/call that anything was happening. No apology? It’s very poor to act like nothing is happening and expect the bride to not feel stressed. Even if there’s a new owner and everything was going to be the same- wouldn’t the new owner want to be the one reaching out? Why is it the brides job to reach out to a new owner they don’t even know? Very poor experience with communication and feeling like my wedding was still going to be what I wanted. Left this venue to find a place that I knew wouldn’t act like Sorella did. Hopefully the new owners will know how to communicate and make brides feel heard/comfortable.
Sorella made the wedding of my dreams a reality! The barn was stunning, the bridal suit was elegant and the package they offered made the planning portion way less stressful! Brooke was so kind to share her home with us on our special day! I can’t say enough good things about Sorella!
My husband and I got married at Sorella Farms on September 2, 2018. It was magical! We lucked out with great weather, and we loved the coziness and intimacy of the ceremony site and the barn for the reception. Most of our guests came from New York City, and were completely blown away by the natural, easy beauty of the venue.
First of all (and this is obvious from the photos, but I still have to gush about it) - the venue is GORGEOUS. Absolutely stunning. The way the lights are reflected in the mirrors, the open concept, the romantic drapes - it is just a dream in person, and makes for breathtaking photos!
Second - Mary and Brooke are such a joy to work with. My husband and I had to plan our wedding from about 4 hours away, and I can't say enough how much it meant to us that Mary and Brooke were so accommodating and sweet in the whole process. We got the full bloom package because we were planning from so far away, and everything was smooth and seamless. We had a couple of hiccups the day before/of as every wedding will, but Mary, Brooke, and our coordinator, Kaylyn, smoothed them out so that I didn't have to worry about them (which was a huge relief, because I tend to stress easily!). I can't thank Mary, Brooke, Kaylyn, and their team enough for helping us to have such a fairytale beginning to our new life together.
We worked directly with Brooke, the owner, throughout the entire process from booking the venue to walking down the aisle. She is not only professional but also genuinely cares about all of the couples she works with. The venue itself is STUNNING and offers multiple sites for the ceremony and the barn is just ideal for the reception. Our wedding was absolutely perfect and I wish I could relive it every day! Honestly, if I could, I would renew my vows here every year.
Initially my Husband and I were a little skeptical when our daughter Ellison asked for a barn venue as opposed to a traditional church wedding. A Mother dreams of her daughters wedding day long before the bride does, and I honestly never imagined my daughter getting married in a barn. From our very first visit to my daughters wedding day Sorella Farms captivated us with its beautiful grounds and rustic , romantic enchanting barn. The staff paid close attention to Ellison and Tylers vision and dreams and told their wedding day story perfectly. I remember like it was yesterday peeking into the barn upon arriving the day of the wedding and just being blown away thinking to myself that this must be a fairy tale. As I was ushered to my seat and I walked down the aisle trimmed with wild flowers and lanterns I realized it was my daughters fairy tale that I was in . Sorella Farms made everything about Ellison and Tyler’s wedding day flawless , making all their dreams a reality , and providing a wedding day that will forever be Everything and More that Ellison and Tyler hoped it would be.. Memories last a lifetime, as do regrets .. We have No regrets , there was nothing that could have been done better . Sorella Farms nailed our Once In A Lifetime ..
Sorella Farms was AMAZING as our venue. They were super helpful every step of the way. Mary and Brooke went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect for our big day. My husband and I had gotten engaged in April 2017 and wanted to have a shorter engagement and get married in the Fall of 2017, and Sorella Farms made it happen. They took care of everything with the venue, and gave us great recommendations for the caterer, flowers, photography, and others. The Sorella staff was great at keeping in contact and answering any questions we had in a timely manner, which really allowed us to have a stress-free wedding planning experience. Not to mention that the location has a natural beauty that is incomparable to any other venue we have seen. The barn has a gorgeous rustic charm and the lake was perfect for pictures following the ceremony. My husband and I could not be happier that we chose Sorella Farms for our wedding/reception and we would highly recommend them for anyone looking for a beautiful venue with a spectacular staff. They really made us feel as if we were family there. :)
The entire experience with Sorella was amazing. The grounds are pristine, the ceremony and reception locations are perfect. Guest parking is not a hassle like many of the other local wedding locations that we saw. The staff was extremely helpful and made our day more than perfect. From the owners, coordinators and day off staff to the suggested vendors everyone was professional and there to make our day amazing. Could not have asked for a better venue to make mine and my brides special day any more perfect.
Nothing short of MAGNIFICENT! We could not have asked for a more wonderful wedding or great service. Sorella made the entire experience less stressful, more enjoyable and we could focus on what was important, our daughter's wedding!
Every girl wants to have the "perfect"
wedding day and thanks to the wonderful team at Sorella Farms, I had the most perfectly wonderful wedding on July 7, 2017! Sorella Farms provides a gorgeous setting; beautiful features; and a kind, caring, and knowledgeable staff.
The staff members were extremely easy to work with, provided help during the planning process, and showed that they sincerely care about their brides.
All of the vendors that the Sorella staff connected us with were fabulous and all of our guests commented on the beautiful grounds, delicious food and cake, and wonderful DJ!
I will always remember my wedding day with such joy and I'll always be grateful that day was spent at Sorella Farms!
We can't think Sorella enough. Brook, Mary, Melissa and the whole team at Sorella are just amazing! They went above and beyond to make our daughters wedding day perfect. Our daughter and son-in-law were married at Sorella on May 19. We decided to do the Full Bloom. We gave Sorella our budget and they took care of everything, from the décor and flowers to the food. Ashley and Ben just told them what they wanted on their menu. Brooke and Mary found the caterer, baker, Grinnin' Booth (which was so much fun) and they would have even had a photographer, if need, Ashley had already found Lisa Mims. With Sorella taking care of all the big things, we were able to enjoy planning the little details. Everything was just wonderful. The food, the cake, everyone is still saying the wedding cake was the best they ever ate. So many friends have ask us how we found such a great place. If you are thinking of doing the Full Bloom, think no more, It's Great!! Everything ran so smoothly throughout the entire day. Everyone enjoyed themselves so much at Ashley and Ben's wedding. Ashley and Ben said it was just perfect and we agree. Best Day Ever, thanks to Sorella's Full Bloom. God Bless!
I'll never forget the feeling I had the day after my wedding when I woke up and felt like everything went off without a (noticeable) hitch because of the great work by the staff at Sorella. First, having the coordinator as part of your wedding package is so incredibly helpful. When we got down to the last few days and weeks, they were available around the clock to talk details and answer questions. During my wedding planning process I had three coordinators (one had a baby and one moved) but Kaylyn picked up right where they left off and didn't miss a beat. She could sense what my vision was for my wedding and helped make it happen. The great thing about Sorella is you can really make it what you want. I really wanted an elegant/romantic/chic setting and with the right touches with my flowers and some decor it really came together. Sorella is extremely accommodating. I was determined to have chiavari chairs at my reception and they were in the process of adding them to the venue. When the chairs they ordered came in and they weren't the color they were expecting they called me immediately with a plan to get what I wanted in time. For this I am eternally grateful. Not only did I noticed the wonderful service but my wedding party would not stop talking about how the day went much smoother because of the staff. Try and use their preferred vendors. They have great relationships with them and they work really well together.
Absolutely loved Sorella! It was the first venue we looked at and we instantly knew it was our place. From the mountain view to Mary and Brooke, there was no better place or people.
Landon and I got married at Sorella Farms in June of 2017. We, as well as our guests, have never felt more at home so quickly. We wish we could just stay. The incredibly caring and detail oriented staff knows how to bring your unique visions and dreams to life, while making you feel as if you are the only wedding they have that month, when in reality these folks work extremely hard behind the scenes to make sure everything is picture perfect for many, many events. If you're dreaming to host a wedding at a magazine worthy and breathtaking venue, you've struck gold here. Landon and I's individual styles and backgrounds were meshed with ease. There are not enough words to describe how truly magical Sorella Farms and their staff really are and we will never be able to repay them for the amazing and memorable day they helped put together. It truly was the best day ever.
Sorella Farms is perfection. Their staff is kind, efficient, organized and will do absolutely anything within their power to make your wedding an absolute DREAM!! They gave us a fairy tale and I will forever be so grateful to their whole team! I'm convinced they are wedding angels :) The venue is STUNNING - you hardly even have to do a thing. So beyond thrilled that we were able to get married at Sorella Farms (both ceremony and reception!!)
My now husband proposed to me on October 24, 2015. By November 14, 2015, we had toured Sorella Farms and I IMMEDIATELY knew it was the venue of our dreams. The entire family and staff who work at Sorella, particularly Danielle, Mary, and Brooke make you feel like you’re the most important and cherished person in the room when they speak and interact with you. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience during our 1 and ½ years of planning. Danielle, our wedding coordinator, far surpassed my expectations. As soon as we decided on Sorella, she initiated communication with me via email as well as phone calls. She had a response for every single question I had, offering suggestions along the way. Her answers were always 100% honest, transparent, and based on her own knowledge and experience, geared toward providing the most comfortable experience for the bride. After booking Sorella, Danielle promptly sent us a list of vendors who were very familiar with the property and staff as a result of working past weddings at Sorella. Because each of our vendors had previously worked closely with Sorella, we lucked out because they often communicated with one another and were on the exact same page as far as our day-of-timeline went.
We were able to travel out to Sorella several times before our actual wedding, and each time Danielle set aside plenty of time for us to soak in the venue and all it has to offer, letting us walk around and explore for as long as we wanted. She also displayed pieces around the property from her beautiful rental collection (Crimson Magpie), which was very helpful because my husband and I are both visual people.
Fast forward to the last couple months before our wedding, and Danielle was essentially one of my right hands. The day before our wedding (4.28.17), we were fortunate enough to have our wedding rehearsal right there at Sorella Farms. The rehearsal was a bit hectic because our bridal party had never been there before, but Danielle and the other staff directed everyone and facilitated a smooth rehearsal of the ceremony. I especially appreciated the patience and care Danielle took with my grandmother, who is turning 86 this year and is my mother. The day before as well as the day of the wedding, she helped ensure that my grandmother would have a hiccup-free experience, and even mowed the grass down the aisle the night before so she could easily walk me down the aisle the next day.
The day of our wedding, April 29, 2017, was everything we wanted and more. Danielle was there every time I, Alan, or one of our family members needed something. Our day-of-events occurred flawlessly, Danielle had perfect timing whether it was grabbing my husband or I for the first dance, cake cutting, or sunset pictures. The time following the ceremony was filled with guests asking how we found such a magnificent venue. My husband and I had known for a long time that our venue was the best possible place we could have chosen, and we were elated to share that with the people we love.
I believe the values of Sorella are sincere, family-oriented, loving, and desire to make the bride and groom feel like their fairy tale has become reality on their wedding day. Don’t get me wrong, wedding planning can be challenging, and you yield whatever effort you put in, however, with the team at Sorella Farms behind you, you will have the tools necessary to have a truly magical wedding. We plan to stay in touch with Danielle for the rest of our lives.
Sorely Farms was amazing! They had everything in order and ready to go, nothing was out of place and the whole day ran smoothly. Not only did they help our wedding day go fantastically, our coordinator was there every step of the way to help with planning and making sure we had enough resources to get exactly what we wanted. Sorella Farms went above and beyond to make our wedding day the best day of our lives and they couldn't have done a better job.
My son and also my niece just recently were married at Sorrella Farms-
The landscape is absolutely breath taking, along with the house that the family opens up for the bride to get dressed in along with a very nice room for the groom as well to get dressed. The barn is spectacular, the way they have decorated it you feel as though you have step into a magical place.
If you are looking for beautiful warm cozy place to have your wedding and reception, Sorrella Farms is where you need to go.
The ladies that direct the wedding remind me of the secret service-They all have in ear pieces to be able to communicate with each other to be sure that everyone is on schedule. Not only are they there during the ceremony and reception, but they also are there for you with all your planning needs. They have great suggestions as well as just about any kind of prop you may need. You can even ride up on a tractor! The service they provide for the family who may be elder and not able to get around again is a very kind a warm gesture to make sure that no one is left out or behind. While the bride and groom are getting ready, they are there for every need no matter how small it may be for them and the family. I cannot praise the staff enough for how well they are organize and extremely willing to go above and beyond.
I give Sorella Farms a 5 plus star and would highly recommend them to anyone who is getting married. They treat the bride, groom and the family like stars. Thank you especially to Danielle for making my son and his brides day perfect!!
When my (now) husband and I began the wedding planning process, we scheduled multiple appointments with different venues. Sorella was the 4th venue we looked at, and the last. From the moment we saw it, we both fell in love. I had my husband promise to stop me from making a decision on the spot, even though I wanted to book with them right then and there. We contemplated it, and looked online to see if we could find a different venue.... and of course, nothing could compare to Sorella! Their gorgeous hardwood floors, the chandeliers, the tulle, the twinkle lights, the MIRRORS, and the gorgeous barn! I mean this place is straight out of a dream! My husband and I had planned to have our wedding on I Do hill, a gorgeous hill by the barn with the most beautiful views! It gives your ceremony a nice backdrop! We had everything planned for the a perfect October wedding, great temperature, nice warm ceremony and a little chilly night to be able to use the fire pit they have, and most definitely NO RAIN. However, hurricane Matthew heard of our party and decided to partake on our day. It rained all day Saturday, but we loved it! The entire Sorella team went above and beyond to help us have a gorgeous rainy wedding day! They arranged our ceremony site inside the barn, and the transition from ceremony to reception went unnoticed! The ceremony felt intimate and private inside the barn. Everyone always says that they dont really get a chance to enjoy their wedding, but because of them, we were able to not only enjoy our dinner, but also we danced the night away and had the time of our lives. We booked the biggest package which comes with the facilitator, and Danielle was much more than a facilitator, though the wedding is over, I feel like I gained a friend through her. Thank you all so much for your hard work and your dedication to turn a rainy day into a day full of light and happiness! We will forever remember October 8th! Thank you thank you thank you!!!

Incredible staff and stunningly beautiful venue! Super friendly and well organised, they made the whole day absolute quality, and completely stress free!
Sorella is hands-down the most amazing, beautiful, versatile venue for a wedding (0r any event, really) in the area. The spectacular views and settings are unparalleled; the attention to detail throughout the entire property is so impressive; there's high end quality evident wherever you look. Nothing has been "cheaped out on." We looked at every possible venue for our wedding, and can truly say that there's nothing that even comes close to Sorella.
Beyond the beauty of the venue and quality of the offerings, we found the staff to be incredibly helpful, patient, and kind. Great communication, attention to detail, cooperative and thoughtful . . . all of these come to mind when we think back over our experience with Sorella while planning our wedding.
As for the wedding itself, it was absolutely perfect. Not one glitch, not one issue. Our guests were so impressed, and as for the experience - everyone agreed it was literally the best time and most beautiful wedding imaginable. THAT's what you want to hear from your wedding guests!!
Sorella farms was a beautiful venue to have a wedding! The barn was so spectacular and was such an amazing environment for us to celebrate our daughters wedding. People could easily stay inside or go outside and enjoy the breathtaking views. We had a guest who was in a wheelchair and the Sorella staff went out of their way to make sure she was able to get around to the festivities. Plus there where some guests who because of health issues couldn't make the walk from the ceremony to the barn. The staff picked them up in a golf cart and drove them to the reception.
The farmhouse was the perfect place for the bridal party to get ready. We brought some drinks and food to snack on before the wedding and the Sorella staff had everything out and ready for us. They even had ice in a bowl.
Our coordinator, Danielle was just the best!! If we needed something she had it, if we had a question she knew the answer. Plus her helper(so sorry I forgot her name) was so accommodating to our needs. I can't say enough about Brooke, Mary, Danielle and the rest of the team. They made my daughter's day so special and her dream wedding come true!!!
As the mother of the bride they made me feel like a queen. It really was a stress free day. I enjoyed the time with our friends and family without worrying about the details.
Couldn't have asked for a more perfect location, staff members, wedding coordinators and friends at sorella. They go above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect for your big day. If I could do it all over again, I would choose sorella again and again, no doubt. Thank you Mary, Danielle, and the rest of the sorella crew. We are forever grateful for how amazing and perfect our wedding was!
I just enjoyed my best friends daughters wedding at Sorella Farms. The Staff on a scall of 1-10 was 100+.
Every details was watched over Mary the owner.. I was just breathe taking .. Not married but if I was going get married this would be the place .
This venue is AMAZING! Yes, when you go out there you instantly see how beautiful is, but that's only the half of it. The crew at Sorella are so helpful and so easy to work with. They honestly handle every little detail that could possibly come up on the day of. Even down to when the car should drive me up to I Do Hill at the exact second so I wasn't standing and waiting around while the bridesmaids walked down. During the reception, Danielle would let me know when it was time to cut the cake, etc so neither I or my family had to keep track of time. She handled all of the vendor set up and times and honestly everything. Not to mention, everyone keeps talking about how gorgeous everything was. Would not get married anywhere else in the Lynchburg, VA area!
I cannot say enough great things about Sorella Farms. My family, fiancé (now husband!), best friend, and I looked at several venues, but decided to go with Sorella Farms. It's the most picturesque venue with a "rustic elegance" or "country chic" feel to it. We received so many compliments on how gorgeous the location was. From the beautiful barn adorned with string lights, tulle, and chandeliers to the mountain view to the quaint yellow farmhouse available to get ready in, the setting itself would be worth every penny.
The barn is not insulated, but there is a large (inconspicuous) fan that circulates air wonderfully. We got married on a hot, humid June day, but you would have never known! Both sides of the barn have large doors that open up and create an awesome open feeling. The bathrooms are spacious and very nice and are right outside of the barn. There are two ceremony sites to choose from - one provides a bit more shade and the other is more open. Both of them have amazing views and are beautiful!
However, what made our experience so wonderful was the people. Brooke and Mary, the owners, and Danielle, the wedding facilitator, are truly amazing people that care about you, your family, and making sure your wedding day is perfect. They always had a plan B or an answer to my questions before I even thought of them. There were several times that they thought of creative solutions to bumps in the road during the process all the way up until the day of. They made sure everything ran smoothly and allowed our wedding day to be an absolute dream. They had 3 weddings the weekend of our wedding (ours was Saturday), and they managed to make us feel like we were the only wedding they had all year! The staff is experienced, attentive, and just SO wonderful.
Overall, I would recommend Sorella Farms a hundred times over. The venue itself is beautiful, and the staff allow you to focus on what's most important - marrying the love of your life!
Sorella Farms is an enchanting gem tucked just outside of the Lynchburg area. Our daughter and son-in-law were married April 2, 2016, in the most beautiful of settings with surrounding views of mountains, meadows, rustic barns, lake area with a dock, farmhouse, and other out-buildings that function as a catering kitchen, and restrooms. Picture perfect photo ops surround this magical venue; tire swing included! Mary, Brooke, Danielle and crew have EVERYTHING covered for your special event! They are consummate professionals, yet so charming with their southern hospitality. Our family is from the Seattle area, and helping plan our daughter's wedding was made so much easier with their expert team. We thank Sorella Farms from the bottom of our hearts for creating memories that will last a lifetime!
Could not have asked for a better wedding or better people to work with. They are all so sweet. I am so happy I got married there. Anywhere else just wouldn't have been the same. The venue is beautiful. I had my wedding on the coldest day of the year and they still made it amazing. Loved everything about it so much.
My husband and I loved having our wedding at Sorella! It is a beautiful venue and everyone there is so accommodating and easy to work with. They made our wedding flow so smoothly and all in all our wedding was better than we could have hoped!
Brooke, Mary, Danielle, and the entire Sorella farms staff are top notch! From start to finish they made everything run smoothly, from recommending vendors to making sure every detail was covered, so I could have the day of my dreams! Even with rain and a last minute switch to have the ceremony inside the barn (which was gorgeous by the way) it turned out absolutely perfect! I cannot tell you how many people have told me it was the best wedding they've ever been to! I owe a huge part of that to Sorella! Ben, our puppy Ariel, and I love it there and we will miss visiting! ❤
We are so thankful for the Sorella crew! Everyone was so helpful every step of the way and especially last minute details for the wedding day, they did such an awesome job! The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous and I couldn't have asked for more! All of our guests had nothing but wonderful things to say about Sorella and the staff! The only suggestion I would make is to allow more time in the packages for the wedding day at the venue, everything else was perfect!
The process of searching for the perfect venue can be tortuous. There are so many options, but Sorella made it easy to choose. There are many reasons I chose Sorella, but I'll limit it to the three from the ratings: Service, Quality, and Value. First, the personal touch of service was like a stamp of approval from God that this place was special. They helped me with my budget, they greeted me warmly each time, and they answered all of my questions. They went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect and in place! Secondly, the barn and the scenery are like a dream. Rolling hills as you enter, mountain views nearly everywhere you look, a picture perfect pond, and a victorian vintage home to get ready in as well as the barn for a reception- just look at the website! (Oh and as a side note: the newly built bathrooms outside the barn are amazingly adorable!) Thirdly, the overall value was immeasurable. At first, I had a tough time with the price. However, after looking at other options and finding Sorella to have everything I wanted, I decided they are extremely reasonable! Not everyone cares about the ambience or how you will feel when you look around and just for a moment, claim the place as your own where you prepared comfortably for your big day or took in the scenery as you waited to walk down the aisle or where you freely danced your first dance with your husband or wife, but if you do care about all of that, I highly recommend Sorella. It was worth every penny to me!
Mary, Brooke, and Danielle made our day perfect! They were helpful and sweet from day one. The venue is beautiful and offers multiple places to chose for your ceremony site.
You can also rent various decorations (tables, wood pieces, whiskey barrels, chairs, doors etc.) from Danielle's rental business, which makes planning easier because it's one less vendor to deal with.
If you want a pretty, rustic, outdoor wedding with a beautiful antique barn reception, this is your place!
If you're considering having your wedding in the Lynchburg area, you'll want to
have it Sorella Farms in Evington.
The venue is a beautiful barn and country
house setting with a lovely outdoor ceremony area. The dark wood barn is gorgeous, with
white lights and chandeliers, and large sliding doors for a summer breeze - overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains.
(there are great men's and ladies rooms so your guests will not have to "rough
it".) Parking is also very easy, with an attendant on duty for the wedding ceremony and reception.
Mary and Brooke, the owners, are very easy to work with, and will help
you come up with your wedding plans, and Danielle, the
wedding planner we used
through Sorella, could not have been better. She met with the bride, my
daughter, to go over plans, and help us through the entire process, every detail
competed. Danielle also had a lot of great ideas, to make the wedding really
special, and had a few rental items to chose from as well. The wedding planner also has a great assistant Melissa. The rehearsal and
wedding went off with out a hitch, Mary and the staff saw to every detail both
days, everything was smooth, from the technical aspects to the loving details.
The entire staff went the extra mile.
They will work with you whether you would
like a simple ceremony or going all out, they can make it happen for your dream
wedding!
Sorella Farms will forever hold a special place in our hearts! What an incredible, gorgeous, and amazing place to get married! Chris and I searched for months and months for the perfect wedding venue. We were at our wits’ end trying to make a decision because we had found several venues we liked, but each one of them left a little something to be desired. Thank goodness my sister came across an article about the newly-established Sorella Farms, and upon seeing it for the first time, it was a no-brainer: we HAD to get married there! Sorella had everything we loved about the other venues, all rolled into one perfect place. The views of the countryside are splendid, the 1800s farmhouse is beautiful, and the barn--OH, the barn!--is the most magnificent structure (and already beautifully decorated with gorgeous mirrors, chandeliers, lights, and tulle: A++!!!!!). Choosing Sorella was the easiest decision of the whole planning process! Mary and Brooke made an immediate impression on us and my parents; they were so genuinely excited for us and wanted to do everything possible to make sure our wedding day was the best day ever. Sorella was an extremely new wedding venue when we first signed on with them, and some might say we were taking a big risk, yet we never once had to question their experience, knowledge, or capability to successfully host a large wedding--they’re just that good. It was so exciting to watch them grow throughout the year. Mary, Brooke, and the Sorella staff were constantly making updates to make the venue even better: when we first saw the venue, the barn had a wood chip floor. By the time our wedding day rolled around, they had replaced the wood chips with an absolutely gorgeous hard-wood floor. Mary and Brooke were super helpful throughout the planning process and were so accommodating in every way. Our wedding day was perfect and went off without a hitch, despite the thunderstorm that seemingly came out of nowhere. The Sorella staff did an amazing job getting everything set up for the ceremony and switching to the rain plan layout for the reception once the storm hit. Even a month later, we are still getting compliments on what a gorgeous wedding it was! No joke, we’ve even had people comment on how cute the bathrooms were outside the barn! How often do you hear that?! And we can’t fail to mention the incredible rainbow that stretched across the sky after the storm passed. What a beautiful thing that was. Sorella was the wedding venue of our dreams, and we will forever be grateful to Mary and Brooke for all their hard work in ensuring our day was everything we had hoped for and more!

Sorella Farms was the PERFECT choice for our rustic and elegant themed wedding. The venue provides the unique balance of nature with the beautiful outdoor space and outside appearance of the barn, while the inside of the barn is glam and a wonderful space for any bridal princess (: The staff did a wonderful job of making sure our day ran smoothly and that everything went exactly the way my groom and I wanted them to go! I can't imagine a better place to have gotten married in this part of Virginia!
I found Sorella Farms on Facebook before I was even engaged. The vintage/outdoor/natural/rustic look immediately caught my eye so that I bookmarked it for when I got engaged. Once my now hubby and I looked at Sorella Farms in person, we were completely sold. Sorella offers three packages depending on your budget and what you are looking for. We went with the middle package which gave us eight hours of time to get ready, have the ceremony, and the reception. The limited time was a bit stressful, so if you can afford it, go with the whole day package. We loved everything about Sorella--the beautiful and perfectly picturesque outdoor surroundings, the reception barn with the vintage decor (chandeliers, old mirrors, white lights, etc.), and the lovely farmhouse where bride and groom get ready. We were a bit confused about what our package actually entailed for awhile, though because we didn't know if the eight hours included setting up and getting ready or not. It does include getting ready, but we were able to set up a couple hours earlier which was essential. It was also a little bit tricky coordinating the wedding rehearsal the day before (we had to settle for a morning rehearsal since the venue was booked that evening for another wedding). These were the only planning details we ran into. Brook and Mary are wonderful to work with--kind, helpful, and will listen to what your ideas are for your special day. And really, you cannot beat the amazing view with a lake, mountains, and fields, as well as the gorgeous vintage barn. I've had many people tell me my wedding was the most memorable wedding they have ever attended, and I know that is largely due to the venue!
I just recently had my wedding at Sorella Farms. I couldn't have asked for anything better. The venue is absolutely gorgeous. We did some little touches to personalize the wedding, but you really don't have to do much in the way of decorating because it is so beautiful already! The grounds, the farm house, and the barn are very well maintained and have so much character. The ladies that run Sorella couldn't be sweeter or easier to work with. It felt like I was working with family, honestly! They really helped me think through everything and how I envisioned my wedding day. The day of the wedding they took care of the guests and the wedding party beautifully. Everyone raved about the venue and the hospitality shown. There were a few minor things that came up the day of the wedding (with other vendors and crazy wind that was knocking flowers around) and Sorella handled them gracefully and made sure that I was kept in the loop, but they were also already on top of solutions. Truly stress free for me! I would highly recommend Sorella! Many thanks to Brook, Mary, and Danielle!
They where absolutely perfect !!! It is so beautiful and Brooke and Mary and the ladies (Daneile) at crimson magpie where great ! They truly make you feel like family! I could not and would not have asked to change anything! I wish I could rewind to our perfect day ! All thanks to sorella!
With love

Beautiful rustic barn, beautiful views, and a historic farmhouse with every detail taken care of. We loved having our wedding at Sorella. Brooke and the crew took such great care of us and made us feel like family. I loved staying in the farmhouse with my bridesmaids the night before the wedding - it was worth the extra cost and helped alleviate a lot of stress. Sorella is magical!
We loved Sorella Farms! The setting is gorgeous... the owners and their family made everything go so smoothly... they offered opinions and suggestions, but were open to my ideas. We could not have picked a more perfect place.
Sorella Farms is truly amazing. It was easy to fall in love with its natural beauty, but when all was said and done it was the owners, Brooke & Mary, who won over my personal decision to choose Sorella Farms as my venue. They shared a sense of kindness and compassion that I had not experienced from any other vendor. It was obvious that they truly cared about my big day and were going to be there for me to do anything they could to make it special.
Getting ready in their stunning historic farmhouse provides a relaxing home-like atmosphere that will comfort any brides’ nerves. Words can't describe how beautiful their house is on both the inside and outside. Every inch of their property is breathtaking and will provide your photographer with an endless amount of opportunities. Whether it is at the pond, back yard, in the barn or house, on the porch, or in one of their many fields, the possibilities are endless. Their 1800’s barn projects a magical feeling with its elegant decorations including chandeliers, vintage mirrors, and lighted drapes. It almost seemed as though you did not have to lift a finger because not only was the venue gorgeous to begin with, but Brooke, Mary, & their sweet loving family went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect.
Sorella Farms and its owners, Mary & Brooke, are truly a blessing. Their venue not only provides views of what I like to call "God's Country," but as a major bonus, it also provides some of God's kindest and most loving human beings I have ever met.
