We are so so thrilled with all that Southern Event Planners did to make our big day amazing. They did our flowers in addition to planning and coordination and we would have been lost without them! If you are thinking about hiring them, you will not regret it!
I met with Angela back in July for a consultation to begin planning my wedding. As you can imagine being newly engaged, I was very excited and looking forward to working with Angela. I had heard great things about her and the work that she does. So you can imagine when I am less than two months out from my wedding and I email her regarding a question. She responded back with saying she sent me a letter certified mail 2 weeks ago that she was cancelling my wedding date services and that my deposit from August would be in the certified mail. I have yet to receive any letter and only found out that my services were cancelled by emailing her. She stated that she sent this November 16. I have reached out to my local post office who does not have any mail for myself, nor has she communicated with me the tracking information I asked for. The days leading up to a wedding are stressful, so to have your planner cancel on you without proper notification is unfortunate and extremely unprofessional. I would not recommend her services simply because of how unprofessional and stressful this has made my wedding process
I have had the privilege to commission Angela of Southern Event Planners for two weddings in our family over the past 10 years. I must say that Southern Event Planners was with us every step of the way, thru good times and bad, and, always worked out any challenges we faced! And the final results were two of the most amazing, completely different weddings that we could never have accomplished without Southern Event Planners! Ms. Angela simply is the most creative,professional, fun loving wedding planner that ever was!!
I really enjoyed working with Angela and her crew. They were very professional and made my vision come to life. I was in awe when I saw the ceremony and the reception space for the first time.
Southern Event Planners is absolutely the best!! When I got engaged, the one thing I knew for sure was that I needed Angela. She truly understands each of her clients and does everything to make their dream wedding a reality. She understood my vision exactly - she could practically finish my sentences! For instance, at my tasting, when I eyed the venue's unattractive three-tonged forks, she quickly said "We can bring in our own flatware." Thank goodness!
Detail-oriented doesn't begin to cover it... for her or me! She was always willing to take the time to review each tiny detail of my wedding and she ensured each of my vendors also paid close attention to detail. When my venue made a mistake and ordered rubber ducks in the wrong color, she stepped in immediately and the problem was fixed within 24 hours.
I would recommend Angela and her whole team to anyone. She can plan and execute a amazing wedding or party that truly reflects her client's vision! Plus she takes away so much stress because I knew she would get things done and done well.
I gave Southern Event Planners five stars because they were truly the perfect wedding planners. My daughter had a very specific vision for her wedding and Angela and her amazing team made that vision a reality. They helped us from the engagement through the wedding. They took care of the smallest detail and made the day completely stress free. I can't imagine planning a wedding without them! Not only are they excellent at their jobs, they are a joy to work with!

Before I was ever engaged, I saw many of Southern Event Planners weddings featured in bridal magazines. I dreamed of hiring them to plan my wedding, but in the back of my head I knew they were out of my budget. Despite my previous assumptions, I made the call once I was engaged and was utterly surprised once we discussed pricing. Southern Event Planners is the planner for any bride with any budget! They made sure I had the wedding of my dreams without breaking the bank. Southern Event Planners helped with design, floral arrangements, invitations, and day of coordinating. They also rent out linens and other decorative items. They are a one stop shop for any bride. I did not have to waste time searching for other vendors for decorative rentals. The staff is very personable. During our planning meetings, it was as if I was sitting around the table laughing and hanging out with friends. Towards the end, I felt that they knew me well enough, regarding my likes and dislikes, so I just let them run with it. I was over making any decisions! lol They did not disappoint. I walked into my venues in awe. Everything was beautiful and far exceeded my expectations. I definitely recommend hiring a planner. There are so many behind the scene details that I did not even consider until they were brought to my attention by Angela and her team. One of the biggest compliments that I have received from guests, besides how beautiful everything was designed, is how flawlessly everything flowed. They made sure that the transition from ceremony to reception was executed smoothly. Highly recommend Southern Event Planners to any bride.

I recently got married last week and they truly made my day exceptional. The entire process they truly focused on my vision and made sure I was happy the entire time. They became like family that day, because they were with me through one of the biggest events in my life! I didn't know where to start when I came to them but they truly pulled out the vision I was trying to explain in several words lol. They truly took the stress of of me, and made sure we would stay within our budget and warn us if we were going over before having us spend more. Their team is very professional and makes sure everything flows well. They were always by my side during the entire event and always made sure I was doing alright the entire day. They went over and beyond and made sure everyone was on task and stress free. The decorations were beautiful and the reception was awesome. I was smiling the entire day and I would not have wanted it any different. Please do not hesitate to use them, I will truly say they were worth it completely. :) People are still talking about the wedding and I know it would have not been possible without them.
This whole group was fantastic! Angela helped me pick out vendors, she did all of our floral arrangements and she did our invitations. Having them there the day of the wedding took so much stress off of me and my family. Everything flowed incredibly well. They even made sure my husband and I had a chance to eat and that we always had a drink in our hand. :) I definitely plan on using them for any large parties we plan on having in the future!
I started planning our wedding before we were engaged. I'm a Project Manager so I knew I could do the planning, but I would need someone to bring my vision to life. I figured out what I was looking for was an Event Designer. Before selecting Southern Event Planners, I met with another company. Fortunately they never called me back, this incident led me to Angela with Southern Event Planners. My mom, future husband, and I met with her and it was perfect. She listened to everything we wanted. She wasn't pushy; she gave her opinion when asked but never forced your ideas on us. My spirit was at peace, after our initial meeting. Before making my final decision I met with a few other companies. Needless to say I didn't feel the same sense of peace with the others. Southern Event Planners were meant to be for us. Angela and the crew exceeded my expectations, they understood my vision and brought it to life. I would definitely recommend them and I plan to work with them in the future.
Southern Event Planners helped me to coordinate my son’s rehearsal dinner. They are THE BEST. Please do not hesitate to hire them for your special event. You will not be disappointed. They are worth every cent. Angela is an expert listener. She is very adept at capturing your vision and enhancing it with her own special touch. Caitlin at Southern Event Planners was assigned to set up and clean up on our special day. She did an excellent job. Southern Event Planners provided all of the floral arrangements and additional decor – candles, tablecloths, signage, etc., all were first-class. Our rehearsal dinner was everything we had hoped it would be and more because of their expertise. The ambiance Angela created was warm and elegant. Our guests were taken aback when they walked into the beautifully decorated room. Most importantly my dear son and beautiful new daughter-in-law were well pleased. I am telling you, do not waste time reading more reviews - stop what you're doing, pick up the phone, or open your email and contact Angela. When it is all said and done, you will say it was the best decision you ever made.
Southern Event Planners is AMAZING!!!! I knew certain things that I wanted for my big day but I wasn't sure how to make them a reality. Angela is so creative and patient. When I was unsure about things, she helped me make the best decision for me. She helped me and my husband form our vision and make it a reality within our budget. I couldn't believe how beautiful everything was. It looked like something I would see on tv! However, it was my wedding!!! Southern Wvent Planners was such a joy to work with! If you're looking for a planner who will take care of every detail, please consider them. I'm so happy that my husband and I made the decision to work with such an efficient and fun group of people.
Southern Event Planners were amazing. While moving, going to school, working, and being a mom full time I was able to sit back and relax when it came to decorating and planning my wedding. Angela and Caitlin planned such a beautiful evening that exceeded all my expectations. When I did have my random bride freak outs all I had to do was shoot an email and had an instant response that put me at ease! I recommend them to the highest degree.

BEST DAY EVER!!! When my then fiancé and I initially met with Angela with Southern Event Planners, I had a lot of ideas about my vision for our big day, but wasn't sure how to execute them, I wasn't even sure if we needed a wedding planner. Hiring Southern Event Planners for full scale planning for our wedding was a GREAT decision! We were extremely pleased with their services! Angela and her team were very professional and they made sure all of our many, many questions were answered in a timely manner. All of our concerns and wishes were a top priority throughout the entire planning process. Angela and her team took out the time to learn what our expectations were and what our vision was for our special day. Angela made timelines for the day and made sure the day was well organized, which was very important to us, and the day flowed smoothly. It was completely stress free! Angela also has professional relationships with many of the top vendors in the Memphis area and was able to make many different suggestions based on our personal needs and wants. Thanks to Angela and Southern Event Planners, our wedding day was both gorgeous and stress free. I would definitely recommend Southern Event Planners if you desire a beautiful, organized, stress free wedding day.
From the day I met Angela, I always felt like she was someone I could talk to. She gave it to me real while keeping my thoughts and concerns at the forefront of her mind. She and her amazing staff made me feel so wonderful and guaranteed they would bring my vision to light. With me, everything was about the details and not just “stuff”. There was a purpose for everything, and ANGELA GOT IT! She understood me. Every time I would get stressed about what to do or how to do it, my husband, Paul Harris, would say… “Babe, call Angela! She’s got the answer.”, and she did!… Every single time!
I was looking for dresses battling over which dress I should purchase. During a meeting, I showed Angela the dresses I was considering. She looked at them, smiled, we talked, and then she says, “You have not found your dress yet. You’ll know when you do. It’s that feeling and you haven’t felt it yet.” You know what!? She was right. The next weekend I took a last minute trip to a bridal shop I found, and I SAID YES TO MY DRESS! If it were not for Angela pushing me to keep looking, I would have settled for something far less that SIMPLY AMAZING.
NOW… fast forward to the wedding day. The staff and my vendors were awesome! Angela introduced me to vendors that truly rocked, and I could not ask for better guidance and structure on my day. The ceremony was beautiful! It was everything I wanted…simple and classy… where the only focus was our union before God! Then, the reception… UNBELIEVABLE! Angela asked if I’d seen the room before reception began, and I had not. So, she told me to come to the ballroom to see it. I walked over and immediately began to cry. I was shaking! I could not believe what she did! Her company did my florals, rentals, and the planning! I could not believe! It was an amazing one stop shop! It was my dream come true and definitely the best decision I made for my wedding. Angela listened to every detail of what I wanted from the first day we met. SHE REALLY LISTENED TO ME, and I could tell it! She made me feel like I mattered. She brought my vision of what I wanted to life. I could not believe this moment was here, and it was all about me and my husband! God truly sent Angela to me as a blessing. Her staff had my reception running like a well oiled machine! They were so attentive and nice! The vendors were amazing as well. They were all about assisting us with one of the most wonderful days of our lives, and with the help of Angela and her staff at Southern Event Planners, it was that and so much more! I came into the wedding planning process with a million ideas, details and visions. Southern Events took everything from my ideas, pinterest boards, random thoughts , etc. and produced an absolutely stunning night. Angela gave me her honest opinion at all times and didn't sugar coat anything, which can be intimidating at times but was necessary to help me narrow down what I wanted. She was great about telling me "yes that is a cost that's worth spending a little bit more versus no that is not something you should waste money on." This completely helped the whole planning process and made it easier to stay close to budget. She did a great job with coordinating all of our rentals and completely managing that process with little work required of my fiance and I. She knew the feel we were going for and completely executed the vibe we were going for and introduced us to a ton of cool ideas that we would have never thought of on our own.
The overall feel of the wedding was perfect. When I arrived at the venue before our ceremony they had set up all of the tables and little details and there was no work required by me or anyone in my family. They moved stuff around throughout the night and all I had to do was drop off the items I wanted them to use.
I would definitely recommend Angela as a day-of coordinator or full on wedding planner. She recommended great vendors, managed the communications with them, and kept my scattered brain on track throughout the engagement! She was able to stretch our budget to cover all of the important items and gave unbiased opinions on every decision we had to make. All of our guests said it was the prettiest wedding they had ever been to and I 100% attribute that to Southern Event's hard work.
Southern Event Planners was hands down the best decision (besides saying yes to my then fiance and now husband) for the wedding. My wedding was being held in Memphis, TN but I was living out of town in Birmingham. They would Facetime me for meetings and were always so accommodating to my busy schedule. They were also a one stop shop for us, we did our flowers, linens, decor, even the rehearsal dinner they decorated it all and it was stunning. They were so organized and the team built my dream wedding. They were there through everything and made my day a breeze. I honestly couldn't have planned my wedding without them. Angela and the staff at Southern Event Planners was a joy to work with through the entire wedding process. We had a year engagement so there was plenty of time to plan the wedding. My mom and I weren't set on having a planner but Angela came highly recommended by a couple of my moms friends so we thought "why not." My mom and I took a stab at the first steps of planning a wedding and realized we were going to go insane and probably hate each other by the end of it.
We had our first meeting with Angela and I knew we were in good hands. She asked the questions to all of our vendors that I would never imagine asking, she knew all the vendors around town and as soon as she knew what kind of cake/dj/flowers/photographer/etc you wanted she knew exactly who to call. She's got the experience and practice to back up the cost and in the end we were so pleased. We had to last minute re-plan the entire ceremony due to rain and Angela did everything imaginable three days before our wedding to make it spectacular! Everyone was able to truly relax and enjoy the wedding day because they did everything. I cannot IMAGINE getting married and not having Angela there. Also big props to Kathleen for being a huge help on the day of!

I used Southern Event Planners to plan my wedding this past summer. We had eight weeks to plan a wedding at a winery, and I had not even tried on a dress. I had just gotten engaged and learned my fiancé had a job offer in Bermuda so we would be packing up and moving immediately after the honey moon. Angela of Southern Event planners was amazing. She handled everything from booking dress appointments, booking a viola, violinists and cello to the decor. Our wedding day was better than I could have ever imagined. My guests were in awe and so were my husband and I. She took my vision and transformed it into something magical. I highly recommend Southern Event Planners.
Angela is so talented and was worth every penny! Not only did she bring my vision to life and deliver me my dream wedding, but I knew she had everything under control the day of. This allowed me to enjoy my day with my bridesmaids and know that when I arrived at the church and reception everything would be perfect and beautiful! She helped to make my day completely stress-free! When I first got engaged my mom was completely against a planner and thought it was a waste of money.. After putting more thought into it and meeting with Angela, she realized she wanted to be able to enjoy every second of my day and not feel like she had to plan or be in control of anything. My mom was just as amazed with Angela as I was.

Angela and Tami were wonderful! From the moment I met Angela she was there for me throughout every step/decision. I could email/call her at any time and she would have an answer for me. Our wedding was perfect thanks to Angela and Tami! Everyone had a blast at our wedding and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect night. I would definitely recommend Southern Event Planners. Make the room in your budget to hire Angela and Tami! They're wonderful and I promise you won't regret it!!
Southern Events was always available with reasonable advice and they were so dependable. Angela was very thorough and listened to what my daughter wanted. I highly recommend this company for wedding or party planning.
Angela was amazing and we loved working with her.
We hired Angela because we live in California and were planning a wedding in Memphis. We DID NOT want to be involved in every single detail and wanted to delegate as much as possible to Angela. She helped with contracts, design, vendor selection, and with my sanity.
Angela took care of every detail and was extremely organized. Angela organized things so well that we only made a single trip to Memphis during the planning process for a weekend filled with meeting DJs, musicians, tasting caterer menus, and visiting venues.
Most importantly, Angela took the time to understand the vision we had for our wedding and was very creative and meticulous in executing it. She had great vendor recommendations, but didn't mind working with new vendors we had heard good things about. She worked her contacts to help us find a band composed of local church musicians, and mined flea markets for months looking for decorations - she really went above and beyond.
Our wedding was as unique and beautiful as we had hoped for and we owe it all to Angela. I would recommend Southern Event Planners to anyone looking for a unique and wonderful wedding.
I would not have had a perfect reception without southern events. They took care of everything from the flowers, to the room layouts, packing of the gifts, and telling me where to be during the reception. Stacey brought food to my parents and grandparents so they did not have to stand in line, she also let me know when to cut the cakes, throw the garter/bouquet and when to do the dances. Without them we would have been so stressed out. They helped plan every detail from table cloths and center pieces to buffet and cake table designs. The flowers were fresh and beautiful, I only had colors in mind not specific flowers and they made everything work perfectly.
Southern Event Planners were super easy for me to work with and everything went smoothly on Wedding Day! They totally understood everything that I wanted and made sure that it was all completed on time! My only complaint is that my groomsmen's boutonnieres almost all fell apart before the ceremony started. That could have been due to the hot July weather though! I would highly recommend them!

Our experience with Southern Event Planners during the summer of 2010 is as follows. While they came highly recommended, our involvement did not equal those reviews.
Our specific areas of concern are the following:
1. Lack of Venue Contract
We met in 7/10 to initiate our contract with Southern Event Planners. At that meeting, we decided to pursue as specific site (that we had already evaluated ourselves) as our wedding venue. We were told that they would contact the site (their preference) and get the contract set up for the date that we had selected. Over 1 month later, we had not received a contract from the site. Even more concerning was the phone call to us from our site, based on our previous visit to them (not secondary to any effort from Southern Event Planners), to discuss the wrong wedding date. After we corrected the date ourselves and after contacting Southern Event Planners about the error over 1 week later, we still did not have any follow up from Southern Event Planners, nor have we received a contract.
2. Lack of Vendor Appointments – Photography, etc.
Our selected wedding date was 9 months after our first meeting with Southern Event Planners. We all discussed the need to set up appointments for photographers, bands, and florists as soon as possible, at our first meeting. After over 1 month of contacting Southern Event Planners to set up these appointments, we did not receive any response from Southern Event Planners nor were any vendor meetings arranged.
3. Poor Communication
We feel that the overall level of communication with Southern Event Planners was very suboptimal. I had sent e-mails with specific questions that were never answered. We feel that this decreased level of communication was diminishing our ability to schedule our wedding appropriately.
Our desire, when we hired wedding coordinators, was to decrease our overall level of stress with regards to the wedding. Our stress level was heightened by our experience with Southern Event Planners. Ultimately, our lack of confidence in Southern Event Planners and their ability to co-ordinate our wedding led to us terminating the contract with them.
We hired another wedding planning firm in the same town. Within one month of working with them, our site was booked (on the correct date), the band was hired, the florist was contacted, and we had appointments set up with 3 separate photographers. We still say that hiring the 2nd set of planners was one of the best decisions we've made in our planning process.
As a business person who manages a team of six sales people, time is money. Angela was like a one stop shop for all of my needs. She reduced my stress and helped me make fashionable decisions that fit my budget. She has a great eye for design and she's a gifted business woman who has networked herself with amazingly talented vendors. I recommend Angela to people CONSTANTLY to family and friends. I now reside in Kansas City and I regret that I've yet to find an event planner here in this region with her skills and talent. If you want your big day to be picture perfect with minimal drama- Southern Event Planners is worth every penny!
They were incredible, from start (20 months out!) to finish. They did all my flowers and decorated the church and reception site beautifully. I know this is cliche', but I could never have done it without them, seriously! Everything went smoothly at the reception, from the entrance to the cake-cutting to the bouquet/garter throw to the exit. Brides, use your time and money wisely and go with this company. I also felt like I was planning with my friends rather than a corporation. Angela Dacus totally got my vision and recommended vendors that I loved! I want to have another party just so I can use Southern Event Planners again!
I've seen a lot of work from Southern Event Planners and it is always beautiful. However, after speaking with the owner, I chose not to pursue a relationship with Southern Events for my wedding. The owner is not pleasant to work with and has a bad attitude. Several of her other clients, including one of my family members, stated that the owner was often rude. If you can deal with that type of customer service but want great work, you should definitely give them a call.
I hired Southern Event Planners to do all of the flowers and decorations for my ceremony and reception. They had a great selection of decoration ideas. All of the vases and candles pieces used were rentals so I did not have to worry about what I would do with a bunch of vases and candles after the wedding. My reception site was picky about the available delivery and pick up times for items brought into their site. Southern Events was very accomidating in making sure everything was running smoothly so I didnt have to worry.
