Our wedding day went off beautifully without the slightest issue, down to the littlest of details. The venue itself is stunning. The golf course is perfectly manicured- (that is coming from my husband who plays golf in every single city we travel to). It was a dream come true. I know it wouldn’t have been possible without you and your team at Southern Hills. The service from your team was exceptional. You answered every single one of my 100’s of questions (seriously) and were by far the most flexible venue from the many we had reviewed. Thank you for going above and beyond and making our day magical! We will absolutely never forget you and your hospitality.

This is a DREAM venue, it’s gorgeous inside and out. Frances was the best - from start to finish, she was always super quick to respond and answer all of my questions (I usually had a lot, lol). The day of the wedding, both her and Joey were so great to work with. Guests commented on how beautiful the venue is, how great the food was, and how smooth & organized everything went. We are SO glad we found this “hidden gem” for our big day.
When I first saw this venue I knew our wedding would be here. Frances was great with every step of my planning process she was just an email away with answers and suggestions. The food was amazing!!! All of our guests said it was a stunning wedding and loved the food. And I can't say too many great things about Joey , he kept everything running flawlessly if there was a problem I sure didn't know about it. If you are considering this venue for your wedding you can't go wrong.
After a year of planning, we ended up having to switch venues a month before our wedding for financial reasons and some issues with our previous venue (Saxon Manor), and Fran from Southern Hills was so extremely helpful, accommodating, and understanding. She helped us do a years' worth of planning in one month. I was constantly having to message and text her questions and details about our wedding since it was such a time crunch, and she was always happy to help. In order to switch venues, we had to postpone our wedding by one day. Wouldn't you know it - It was a little cloudy but clear on our original wedding date, and there was a chance of rain all week on our new date. I was all nerves worrying about how the day would pan out, even on the day of. We ended up having a spontaneous first look on the lawn before the rain hit, and then moved our ceremony upstairs. I was really upset at first about having to change the plans last minute when it seemed like the weather was going to hold out, but Fran was very reassuring that it would still be beautiful, there would be plenty of room on the veranda. And it was. Our wedding was beautiful and even though Southern Hills doesn't necessarily have a "rustic vibe," we made it our own and the venue fit our wedding perfectly. It was classy, elegant, and had a touch of rustic. The food was AMAZING. The chef did an outstanding job, especially for it being a buffet meal! I absolutely LOVED the chicken piccata and the truffle risotto. You MUST try these!!! Overall I do not regret a single thing about choosing Southern Hills as our venue for our wedding. The staff was extremely accommodating, awesome to work with, and our wedding was beautiful and everything I had hoped for.
A simple "thank you" is not nearly enough to express our gratitude to the entire staff at Southern Hills Plantation Club for giving us the most amazing night of our lives. Frances, the event coordinator at the venue, was so helpful and such a joy to work with. She was so accommodating and generous to each and every request, and idea we had. Chef Mark provided our guests with the most amazing meal and even sent us home with a full portion of left overs! Every single one of our guests had nothing but positive remarks about the beauty of the venue, the quality and taste of the food and the professionalism and kindness of the staff. Choosing Southern Hills as our venue was one of the best decisions we made. Looking back, we would not have changed a single thing! Absolute perfection!
This is the most stunning ceremony and reception location in Tampa. I looked everywhere for months for a perfect venue: natural, romantic. I looked at so many country clubs: Tampa Palms, Hunters Green, Westchase, Safety Harbor, Clearwater hotels. All of these places started at at least 15k, and they were not pretty at all. I found Southern Hills online and thought it was too good to be true. But I was wrong.
Frances, the wedding coordinator, is absolutely amazing. She worked with my mom and I for months to make sure everything was perfect. She was very quick with email response and met with us multiple times. We both loved her. The entire staff at Southern Hills is amazing. All my guests said how kind and friendly the staff was, and they even gathered around the bar to wish me luck before I walked down the aisle.
The location is stunning. All of our guests complimented how beautiful the view was, and the guy got to enjoy golf on the wedding weekend. The food was also delicious. I really can't say enough great things about Southern Hills. The pictures on their Facebook page don't even do it justice.
Southern Hills is an absolute gem in Tampa. They are still underpriced even with their new 2015 and 2016 packages. I would recommend Southern Hills to anyone looking for a gorgeous, southern (but not rustic) location with amazing prices and staff.
Frances at Southern Hills was so incredibly helpful on the day of the wedding, making sure everything ran smoothly. She made sure to stay in contact with any questions I had, made the place look gorgeous and worked with me whenever I had to come up with my photographer or maid of honor to plan out decor. The place is already beautifully decorated, so very little decor is really necessary. The golf course is huge and, according to my husband, worth the scenery. The picture son the golf course came out gorgeous and the house is breathtaking. It is located in the middle of nowhere but frankly, its a diamond in the rough once you turn into the venue and see this place. All the guests were wowed by the outdoor wedding and the place was huge, could've accommodated so many more people but felt intimate enough with the lighting for my small guest list of 60 people. Loved it!
The food, the view and our wedding night were more than we could ask for. We have an October wedding with a perfect sheet from the veranda. Southern hills was just perfect.
I don't even know where to begin! This venue is soooo BREATHTAKINGLY, beautiful and perfect, especially for a small, cozy, romantic, intimate wedding, which is what we wanted and had. It has everything a Bride and Groom could want in a venue - a private area for the Bride to get dressed, private area (his own bathroom and TV) for the Groom, balcony AND/OR lounge for cocktail hour, ceremony AND reception areas (so guests don't have to travel from one location to another), amazing photo opportunities with beautiful greenery, landscape and a picturesque balcony with great architecture!
If you're looking for a venue that can meet various needs and requests – LOOK NO FURTHER! The staff is phenomenal! They bent over backwards on the day of our wedding and attended to all of our guests as if they were royalty. Thank You Southern Hills for making our day truly Unforgettable!
I fell in love with the venue. The price was decent compared to other places. Only had one minor hitch with the food tasting. The food and beverage guy is nice, but lacks in communication skills. Overall the wedding was everything I wanted it to be.
Southern Hills is an awesome venue. The facility looks great in photos. I cannot begin to tell you the number of compliments we recieved on the food. The food is out of this world. Every single item on the menu was delicious. Typically buffets for a large number of people tend to have mediocre food; however, Southern Hills food was anything but mediocre. Brad Buss is very accomodating and easy to work with. He responds to emails in a timely manner. I cannot express enough how easy Brad was to work with; however, if you are expecting complete guidance and wedding planning from the venue manager you might be disappointed. For my personal preference, he was perfect; he let us call the shots on how the wedding worked, the timeline, setup etc. and we weren't given a typical country club this is how weddings are done package. He provided great references for other services. The entire wait staff was friendly and helpful. Our wedding was at sunset on the lawn overlooking the hills of the golf course and it is beautiful. I would also say that the price is competitive with other facilities and most facilities of the caliber of Southern Hills would be charging must higher prices.
